About the Polk Audio PWSK-1

James Ralston

Put your Polk subwoofer anywhere you want with this wireless kit. This simple plug-and-play kit adds lossless wireless audio capability to select Polk subwoofers in seconds. Plug your sub into a nearby wall outlet, connect the small wireless dongle to the back of the sub, connect the transmitter to your receiver, and you're done. The transmitter sends wireless audio signals from your receiver to the sub, so you won't have to worry about running speaker or interconnect cables across your floor.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Polk Audio PWSK-1 Wireless Conversion Kit is designed to make the DSW PRO wi subwoofers wireless in two easy steps, eliminating the need to run a cable from your home theater receiver to your subwoofer. The wireless transmitter connects to your receiver, and the wireless receiver plugs directly into the port on the wireless-ready subwoofer. The PWSK-1 is compatible with the following Polk Audio subwoofers:

Transmitter: The PWSK-1's wireless transmitter sends uncompressed (16-bit resolution) bass signals to the subwoofer via the 2.4 GHz wireless band. It has a 3-1/2" long antenna and a range of approximately 50 feet. The transmitter connects to your home theater receiver via mono or stereo RCA. If your receiver has a subwoofer/LFE output, it can be connected with a single (mono) RCA cable to the "Right/LFE" input. If the receiver has no subwoofer/LFE output, you can use the preamp outputs, connecting it using a stereo RCA cable and the "Left" and "Right" inputs. A 3' mono RCA cable is included.

Receiver: The PWSK-1's wireless receiver plugs directly into the adapter port on the rear panel of the DSW PRO wi subwoofer. The "Scan" button allows the receiver to "find" the wireless transmitter. When plugged in, the wireless receiver protrudes slightly from the back of the subwoofer.

Dimensions: The PWSK-1's dimensions are:

  • Transmitter:
    • Width: 4.993"
    • Height: 1.326" (4.011" with antenna positioned vertically)
    • Depth: 3.609" (approx. 4.5" with RCAs)
  • Receiver:
    • Width: 1.806"
    • Height: 0.979"
    • Depth: 2.756"

Q
does this only work for Polk subs?

A
Probably, The part that goes on the subwoofer plugs into a specific port that polk has built into the subwoofers electronics board/amplifier. I love it though with the concrete cracking polk sub that I have.(Polk Audio DSW PRO 660wi)

Q
What channel does this device operate on? I am having interference issues on the 2.4ghz network and would like to make sure I avoid the frequency this is operating on. No problems with 5.0 ghz but not all my devices are capable of the newer network.
