You don't need to spend a fortune on floor-standing speakers to get great audio performance. The budget-friendly R300 uses proven Polk technologies to create room-filling sound with your favorite movies and music. And since the R300's slim design takes up less than one square foot of floor space, you won't need to sacrifice a lot of room to enjoy big, rich tower-speaker sound.

Polk's exclusive Dynamic Balance® woofer and tweeter deliver clear, vibrant sound with minimal distortion. The speaker's solidly built cabinet helps eliminate the internal vibrations that can lead to "muddiness" in midrange and mid-bass frequencies. You get accurate highs and mids, along with tight bass. Five-way binding posts provide a secure connection to your receiver or amp, and a variety of speaker-wire hookup options.

Floor-standing speakers — still standing tall

Sure, floor-standing tower speakers buck the industry trend toward smaller, visually inconspicuous speakers, but they're hard to beat if great sound is your primary goal. Tower speakers produce powerful sound with excellent bass, making them a great choice for serious music lovers and for folks who want high-impact home theater.

Amazing Value Performer

Written by: Sat from Chandler, AZ on November 10, 2008

Got these and after 1 year of listening to them with various types of music and movies I can say that for a relatively low budget one can take a peak into the audiophile realm. Over time i have discovered that these are very sweet in the upper middle freq/high freq end of the spectrum (Especially Female vocals) and provide a wide sound stage when properly placed. they can take a lot of power before they bottom out...most of the mainstream receivers make them sing well due to the efficiency of the speakers. If you have an AMP with the rated watts that is even better, will definitely sound much better than your normal HTIB experience (bose, sony, denon, even polks own htib system)

They have good bass extension to the upper 50s in the room, good for any apartment or small room, very punchy due to the ported cabinet....but to really enjoy them pair them to at least a 50W sub(Polk PSW-10) at a minimum and cross them over to the sub at 80 or 100HZ depending on your preference and you will be in musical heaven.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Thank you Crutchfied! I'm very impressed with the Polk Audio R300's. These are some the best speakers I've ever owned. I have them hooked up to my Onkyo TX8522 receiver and what a major improvement over my older pair of Yamaha bookshelf speakers. Thank you Crutchfield for every piece of equipment I have bought from you. I will always come to you for my audio needs.

Product Research

Single Speaker: The Polk R300 is packaged as a single floor-standing speaker, and are priced individually.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Composite Woofers: The speaker has a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance mineral filled polymer composite woofer housed in an acoustically inert stamped driver basket for clean and accurate mid/bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The speaker has a 3/4" Dynamic Balance silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs.

Video Shielded: The speaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement near your video sources.

Mylar Capacitors: The speaker utilizes Mylar bypass capacitors to extend its high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Bass Port: A rear-firing bass port gives you deep, punchy bass response.

Grille: The speaker features anti-diffraction grilles that minimize grille diffraction for spacious, three-dimensional imaging.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Feet: The speaker is equipped with four non-adjustable screw-on wooden feet. No carpet spikes are included.

Timbre-Matched: The Polk R300 is designed to fit into any Polk Audio home theater or multi-channel music system for a more realistic seamless surround sound environment.

Applications: A pair of R300s can be used as front or rear speakers in your home theater application or can be used as your main stereo pair for music listening.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 45Hz-24kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 55-20kHz.
