    Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

    small plastic speakers

These are the worst speakers ever. They sound like what they are - small plastic speakers. I WISH I had returned them in time. Now, 4wks later they are discontinued. Money down the drain. The reviewers who say these are good have no ear for anything.

Exceptional sound from little speakers. I wasn't expecting such powerful sound from these size speakers and I was pleasantly suprised. If you can't have a system with a very large center and tower sides then these are the speakers for you.

    Great for a 7.1 system

Written by: Jeffrey from Lincoln Park, NJ on February 17, 2009

Picked these up to match the RM 95 system. Easy pick up so you know that they will work seamlessly with the RM 95. These can either be left on a shelf or wall mounted with the included mounts (you can not ceiling mount these speakers). They look and sound great. Although, I think they are a bit on the expensive side seeing that the 5.1 speaker system
is on sale now and you get 5 speakers. Otherwise, an excellent choice.

    great speakers

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

these rm8 speakers have a very small footprint and we are using them as our front speakers connected to an Onkyo receiver. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The sound is full and rich and you will not find a better speaker for the money.

    Is it raining??

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    These work great in
    my small HT, first
    time they were
    installed there was
    some rain in the
    background of the
    movie audio track
    that was not
    apparent on screen
    and I was certain
    that it had started
    to rain outside,
    very funny.

    Purchased as rear
    surrounds, 'bipole'
    design, construction
    and sound quality
    are all great, first
    tested up front as
    stereo speakers
    listening to music,
    surprisingly good,
    small size makes
    them perfect
    surrounds. Only
    negative is that the
    included wall
    brackets are not
    adjustable, so if
    you do not mount
    them exactly
    perfect, you must
    take down and redo,
    this is unacceptable
    for a $250 surround,
    a fully articulating
    bracket would make
    these perfect all
    around. Still, even
    with the effort of a
    2nd mounting, highly

    Hope this helps,
    Crutchfield is
    great, would not buy
    anything they carry
    from anyone else.

    Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Wide Dispersion Array Satellites: The RM8 wide dispersion array  satellite speakers create a more enveloping, less localizable surround effect because the speaker's drivers are mounted on opposing baffles for a broader and larger front-stage sound field and a more immersive and atmospheric surround field. The RM8's feature a designated left and right speaker for proper speaker placement. The speakers feature two 2-1/2" dynamic balance composite drivers mounted on different sides of the speaker's enclosure and one 3/4" silk/polymer composite dome tweeter for rich, real life imaging.

    Enclosure Design

Enclosure: The RM8 wide dispersion array satellite speakers feature an acoustic suspension, non-resonant composite enclosure with a high-gloss finish (black or white) for great looks and natural sound. The three-sided cabinet design minimizes the visual impact on walls and shelves while the integrated baffle and anti-diffraction grille design allows maximum sound dispersion with minimum diffraction for superior imaging and room-filling sound.

Speaker Terminals: The spring clip terminals located on the bottom of the array satellite speakers will accept pin connectors and bare wire.

    Mounting Options

Video Shielded: The RM8 satellite speakers are magnetically (or video) shielded for safe placement near your TV or computer monitor without causing picture interference.

Mounting Options: The RM8 wide dispersion array satellite speakers feature a removable base which allows you to place the speakers on a shelf or table top. The base adds approximately 0.4375" to the height of the speaker. The array satellite speakers can also be wall mounted using the supplied wall mount bracket which lets you rotate the speaker horizontally. In addition, the RM8 satellite speakers are compatible with Polk's SA-3 floor speaker-stands.
