About the Polk Audio TC265i
Enjoy rich, detailed sound from speakers that disappear into your room. Polk's TC265i in-wall speaker, sold individually, includes a 1" dome tweeter for detailed highs, and dual 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance® woofers for incredibly full mids and bass. The white matte grilles are paintable to match any decor. You can experience "stealth" stereo or even multichannel home theater sound without sacrificing performance.
With the TC265i, Polk has gone to great lengths to give you the best sound possible for your room. The swivel-mounted tweeter lets you direct the high frequencies toward your favorite listening positions. And you can use the tweeter level switch to adjust the high frequency output to suit your room's acoustics. In the low frequencies, Polk's Infinite Baffle Tuning takes advantage of the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response. And the Power Port venting cuts down on air turbulence and port noise for cleaner, fuller low-frequency tones. You can even use the wall distance toggle switch to flatten the bass response ideal for avoiding a boomy bass sound if your speaker is installed near a corner. That's a lot versatility for an in-wall speaker.
You can put together an in-wall home theater speaker system using the TCi speakers. Plus, they're voice-matched to Polk's RTi loudspeakers, so you can mix and match in-wall and free-standing speakers to suit your tastes.
An optional in-wall bracket is recommended for installing the TC-265i in-wall speaker in a home with new construction.

Features
Dynamic Balance Technology: Dynamic Balance polymer composite drivers are used for smooth wide-range response with low distortion.
Mid-Woofer: The speaker features a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance, mineral composite polypropylene mid-woofer for deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.
Midrange: The speaker features a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance, mineral composite polypropylene midrange driver for clean, distortion-free midrange. The midrange driver also uses a butyl rubber surround.
Tweeter: The speaker uses a 1" Dynamic Balance, silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet for clear detailed highs. The ball-and-socket swivel mount lets you aim the tweeter in any direction to give you direct high-frequency control, resulting in excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions.
Power Port: This speaker is equipped with Polk Audio's patented Power Port bass venting system. The Power Port was designed into the speaker to extend deep bass efficiency and definition.
Terminals: The speaker features gold-plated spring post terminals.
Infinite Baffle Tuning: Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response.
Moisture-resistant: Durable, moisture-resistant materials allow you to install the speaker in a bathroom, kitchen, sauna, even under outdoor eaves.
Timbre-matched: The speaker is timbre-matched to the Polk Audio RTi Series for seamless, enveloping imaging when used in a home theater system. You can mix and match any of the TCi-series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers with the RTi Series high performance floor-standing and bookshelf speakers.
Controls
Accessible Controls: The TC265i features technology that can tailor the sound for performance in difficult or unusual placement situations. The following controls are located on the front panel of the speaker (behind the grille):
- Wall Distance Toggle: In-wall speakers excel when placed more than 2' from side walls. When the speaker is mounted closer than 2', the result is a "bump" in response between 50 and 200Hz. The speaker has a Distance Toggle Switch circuit that flattens the response and tunes out the "boominess" if mounted closer than 2' from a side wall.
- Tweeter Attenuator: If the listening room is very reflective, with smooth sheetrock walls, hardwood floors, and non-cushioned furniture, the sound will overly "bright" and unnatural. In this case, you can engage the TCi -3dB Tweeter Attenuator (select the "Cut" setting) to flatten the room response without hindering higher frequency response for warmer, more realistic sound and more accurate imaging.
Mounting Options
Installation: The speaker requires a cutout 7-1/4" wide and 19-1/4" high with a depth of 3" behind 1/2-inch drywall. Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the Rotating Cams can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly. If you will not be mounting the speaker in drywall, make sure the wall or ceiling material can safely support the weight of the speaker before installation; the speaker weighs approximately 11 pounds.
Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing the speaker to match any decor. A clear plastic paint mask is included to protect the "unpaintable" speaker parts.
