Fill your room with sound, not bulky speakers. Polk's TC65i in-wall speaker, sold individually, includes a 1" dome tweeter for detailed highs, and a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance® woofer for rich mids and bass. The white matte grilles are paintable to match any decor. You can experience "stealth" stereo or even multichannel home theater sound without sacrificing performance.

The TC65i features a swivel-mounted tweeter, allowing you to direct the high frequencies toward your favorite listening position. And you can use the tweeter level switch to tailor the sound to suit your personal taste and room's acoustics. In the low frequencies, Polk's Infinite Baffle Tuning takes advantage of the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response. And the Power Port venting cuts down on air turbulence and port noise for cleaner, fuller low-frequency tones. You can even use the wall distance toggle switch to flatten the bass response — ideal for avoiding a boomy bass sound if your speaker is installed near a corner. That's a lot versatility for an in-wall speaker.

You can put together an in-wall home theater speaker system using the TCi speakers. Plus, they're voice-matched to Polk's RTi loudspeakers, so you can mix and match in-wall and free-standing speakers to suit your tastes.

An optional in-wall bracket is recommended for installing the TC65i in-wall speaker in a home with new construction.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are real nice in-wall speakers for any theater/media system application. They have a good bang for your buck sound and value. In the world of Low-Fi, Mid-Fi and HI-Fi, I would rate these as solid Mid-Fi product. When matched with a good receiver and sub-woofer these speakers provide a dramatic TV/Movie viewing experience everyone can enjoy.

I have the TC65I for my front left/right speakers and center channel speaker. They installed easily and sound very good. Being able to point the tweeters helped with locaton. Great buy!

I purchased these Polks last year and use them as surrounds for my theater system. They have worked out very well. I used the TC265i for fronts and center. The whole system turned out great.
I recommend them highly!

Mounting Options

Dynamic Balance Technology: Dynamic Balance polymer composite drivers are used for smooth wide-range response with low distortion.

Mid-Woofer: The speaker features a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance, mineral composite polypropylene mid-woofer for deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Tweeter: The speaker uses a 1" Dynamic Balance, silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet for clear detailed highs. The ball-and-socket swivel mount lets you aim the tweeter in any direction to give you direct high-frequency control, resulting in excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions.

Power Port: This speaker is equipped with Polk Audio's patented Power Port bass venting system. The Power Port was designed into the speaker to extend deep bass efficiency and definition.

Infinite Baffle Tuning: Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response.

Moisture-resistant: Durable, moisture-resistant materials allow you to install the speaker in a bathroom, kitchen, sauna, even under outdoor eaves.

Timbre-matched: This speaker is timbre-matched to the Polk Audio RTi Series for seamless, enveloping imaging when used in a home theater system. You can mix and match any of the TCi-series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers with the RTi Series high performance floor-standing and bookshelf speakers.

Terminals: The speaker features gold-plated spring post terminals.

Accessible Controls: The TC65i features technology that can tailor the sound for performance in difficult or unusual placement situations. The following controls are located on the front panel of the speaker (behind the grille):

  • Wall Distance Toggle: In-wall speakers excel when placed more than 2' from side walls. When the speaker is mounted closer than 2', the result is a "bump" in response between 50 and 200Hz. The speaker has a Distance Toggle Switch circuit that flattens the response and tunes out the "boominess" if mounted closer than 2' from a side wall.
  • Tweeter Attenuator: If the listening room is very reflective, with smooth sheetrock walls, hardwood floors, and non-cushioned furniture, the sound will overly "bright" and unnatural. In this case, you can engage the TCi -3dB Tweeter Attenuator (select the "Cut" setting) to flatten the room response without hindering higher frequency response for warmer, more realistic sound and more accurate imaging.

Mounting Options

Installation: The speaker requires a cutout 7-1/4" wide and 12-3/4" high with a depth of 2-3/4" behind 1/2-inch drywall. Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the Rotating Cams can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly. If you will not be mounting the speaker in drywall, make sure the wall or ceiling material can safely support the weight of the speaker before installation; the speaker weighs 5.5 pounds.

Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing the speaker to match any decor. A clear plastic paint mask is included to protect the "unpaintable" speaker parts.

Performance Enclosure Compatibility: The optional Polk Audio custom built Performance Enclosure (item # 107ENLC65i) gives the TCi in-wall speaker the performance edge by hiding a complete, perfect-volume speaker cabinet within the wall before the wall is even completed. The Performance Enclosure is specially constructed of high density MDF and fill material in a size that fits securely between wall and ceiling studs in pre-drywall construction. Adjustable brackets make pre-construction installation simple. Vibration-damping foam pads ensure rattle-free performance.

Frequency Response:

  • Overall: 32Hz-27kHz
  • -3dB Limit: 50Hz-25kHz
