Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker structure and cabinet design for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

High Efficiency Design: Compatible with practically any AV receiver, these speakers produce sound that is open, spacious and clear, even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers.

Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: Each speaker features a 5.25" bi-laminate composite dynamic balance driver which is light and stiff for deep bass response and low distortion. For high performance durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk dome Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1.0" silk dome dynamic balance tweeter for detailed highs. Each tweeter features Mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 53Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 61-24kHz.

Enclosure Design

Quality Built Cabinets: The TSi speaker cabinets are extensively braced MDF with ¾" thick baffles. With pewter accents, a piano black top plate and removable black grille, TSi speakers look awesome and take up less than one square foot. All models are available in a choice of black or cherry wood-grain vinyl finishes.

Narrow Baffle Geometry: Narrow baffle geometry is a design that creates a sleek looking speaker with great sound. First the high quality cabinet is slender and tucks away easily in your room. The smaller-diameter speaker components are lighter in mass, translating to clearer sound.

Flared Ports: All TSi speakers feature critically-tuned flared ports. Flared ports minimize port noise ("chuffing") and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With flared ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. These TSi bookshelf speakers feature a rear-firing port.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: Each speaker has a set of gold-plated 5-way binding posts.

Mounting Options

Placement: Create an equilateral triangle between the speaker and the listening position. If you notice video distortion or discoloration, immediately move the speaker away from the video source.

Rubber Feet: Each speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet so they will sit securely on your speaker stands or shelf.

Wall Mounting: Each speaker has a keyhole slot bracket on the back panel, allowing the speaker to be mounted on the wall using optional mounting screws (sold separately). A wall-mount template is provided to assist you.

Has anyone used these for outside movie night? wandering how far they project

Haven't used mine outside but they are outstanding quality sound generating speakers that would very likely project sound several hundred feet without loss of depth or quality

What center chanel to use with the TSI 100 speakers?
william  Aug 19, 2019
4 answers
A
These are used as left and right channel speakers. I haven't used them in a center channel speaker.
robert  Aug 19, 2019
A
I am not using them as center speakers. I'm using them as side speakers in a surround sound system composed of right and left front, two centers, right and left side, right and left back, front and rear subwoofers. They seem to work fine.
daryl w  Aug 19, 2019
A
Hello, we also bought a center speaker, Polk Audio TSi CS10 that works fine in our space. For the other speakers we bought stands. We are more classical music listeners, so we don't how other music styles sound. We are very pleased with what we have. Our receiver is an old Denon. Good luck.
patrick  Aug 19, 2019
A
The TSi CS10 center channel speaker is voiced specifically to be compatible with other TSi speakers such as the 100. It should be a good match.

Yes, very easily.
neal  Feb 18, 2018
A
They come with a hanging bracket and rubber bumpers to space them out from the wall since the ports are on the rear. I built a small wooden bracket so they can be mounted in a corner. Definitely wall mountable
justin  Feb 17, 2018
A
There are mounts on the backs.
james van  Feb 17, 2018

Speakers have a bracket on top of back for wall mounting and two pads on bottom to space the speaker from touching the wall. I have a photo, but Crutchfield's response form doesn't let me attach it.

A
Yes, the back of the speaker have a metal bracket attached to hang it on a wall.

Not sure; I think there are brackets you can buy. Best to ask a Crutchfield expert. Mine are sitting on a cabinet

Q
Will these speakers be compatible with a Pioneer VSX3900S receiver?
anita  Jun 04, 2017
3 answers
A
They would be compatible with any receiver. I have an Onyko receiver that I bought with the speakers and they sound awesome. A lot of sound from a book shelf speaker.
samuel  Jun 06, 2017
A
I can't say for sure but I don't know why they wouldn't be. As long as you have the wires to connect them there should not be any problem. Speakers will work with any receiver. Good speakers for the price
hayward h.  Jun 06, 2017
A
Without a doubt. I just looked up the receiver and it has regular speaker jacks. So yes. These would be a great addition to your system. I would definitely? recommend a subwoofer for the lows. These speakers sound great but they lack a detailed low below 70hz.
eric  Jun 06, 2017
Q
I know the specs would suggest otherwise but I want to pair these with an onkyo receiver that outputs 20w per chance AT 6 OHMS rather than the 8 of the speaker. Could either the speakers or the receiver get damaged by this?
josé  May 26, 2017
2 answers
A
Jose, doesn't the receiver have an 8 ohm power rating or option? My main concern might be not enough power to the speakers, and that would result in a less than satisfactory sound from the speakers. If you haven't already done so, I would check out the Polk Audio website and double-check the speaker specs to make sure your setup would work out! Regards, A.J.
alfred j.  May 26, 2017
A
At high receiver output you might. I've had mine hooked up to a 100 W RMS Rotel integrated that sounded great after break in. Great little speaker for female voice and sax.

Q
What gauge of speaker wire - does it matter? with a 40 watt amp, for example.
karla  Nov 30, 2015
3 answers
A
The better gauge wire, the less signal loss you will have. We always use 14 gauge, though 16 gauge would work.
robin  Dec 02, 2015
A
I don't know. However, mine died after 18 months. I recommend you consult with an expert at Crutchfield.
federico  Dec 01, 2015
A
To answer your question I am using a 12 gauge wire seems to perform better and also helps keep my amp run cooler and the speakers sound clear and less resistance from the output from the receiver
thomas  Dec 01, 2015
Q
Sorry I'm new to audio equipment. I can't really see where I would plug this in to connect to my receiver and if so does it use speaker wire? if it doesn't could someone direct me to a pair of speakers that do use speaker wire
batman  Dec 12, 2014
1 answer
A
There are speaker wire terminals on the back of these speakers. You would simply need to run speaker wire from your receiver to these speakers.

Q
In terms of great highs and mids, and all-around good sound, would you recommend the Polk tsi100's, or the Infinity Primus P153's? The Infinitys claim to go to 20,000Hz whereas the Polks claim 24,000 Hz, but in real life, which speaker has the richer, fuller sound?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I'm afraid those are only available in black and we don't offer them in Cherry. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I just wanted to how well will these work with my older Marantz SR 2000?
james  Mar 24, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That older Marantz stereo receiver is rated at 40 watts x 2 at 8 ohms so it'll drive the Polk Audio TSi100 speakers fine. Since they are small, you won't get a ton of bass from them but the Marantz is strong and should do a great job with those smallish bookshelf speakers. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
kristina  Mar 25, 2014 (Staff)
Q
I'm ignorant on speakers. My understanding is this is a rear-ported speaker. Further, my understanding is that rear-ported speakers should be placed away from the wall (not totally clear why). Yet these speakers come with a mounting bracket so Polk must anticipate that these speakers will be directly against the wall. Did anyone mount these against the wall? If so, were there any issues with the rear port?
eric  Mar 19, 2014
6 answers
A
I bought these speakers and they sound great especially for home theater. But, you shouldn't put them back against a wall like you said. I don't know why they have that mounting option on the back. The rear port I believe is part of the "bass reflex" system for more base in a smaller speaker, but it needs to move the air (thus the space from the wall). For musical listening, or if you have a subwoofer already, you might want to consider an "accoustic suspension" speaker (without the ports) if you want to place the back of them against the wall. I don't know if polk makes one of those since the home theater type speakers are so popular now.
scott  Mar 20, 2014
A
Hi Eric K! You're right, the TSI100 is rear-ported, it does come with a key hole type kind of bracket that for my personal taste is useful for surround mountings but you got to put some rubber shoes on them or otherwise you will hear some vibrations coming from the speakers shoes. The other question is if should you mount them against the wall? Well it depends IMO, if you're using them as surround you won't be able to hear much difference ( I have them against the wall mounted with the original key hole slot and I have them as surround 4 of them) but if you're using them as main L and R channels I will put them about 12 inches of the wall. I hope this gives you a better idea ! Have fun! And welcome to great sound!
pedro  Mar 20, 2014
A
I've had no problems and mine are up against the wall. . Good speakers!
ken  Mar 19, 2014
A
Thank you for the response.
eric  Mar 19, 2014
A
The port is on the back but the bracket allows the woofer to "breathe". I used a single 3" Sheetrock screw in the wall. If you let it stick out about 1/2" it will mount just fine. I have a 7.1 polk setup with TSI400,300,100,CSC20, and a Pro440 WI. They totally rock! 90watts each channel. Monster speaker wire. Highly recommend TSI series.
brandon  Mar 19, 2014
A
The mounting brackets provide about a 1 inch buffer between the speaker and the wall. So the port stays clear. These are truly wonderful speakers for the price.

Q
does it come with blue tooth also?
juanito  Jan 25, 2021

No bluetooth (or blacktooth as my wife once called it - hee hee, I'll never let her forget that one). This is a wired only speaker without its own power. It needs to be wired up to something that can power it.

A
No, I don't think so, just an ordinary wired speaker for use with a receiver or amp. Hope that helps!

Q
Are they wireless?? Do they connect to any Polk sound bars?
jan  Dec 18, 2020
4 answers
A
They are not wireless.
joseph  Dec 18, 2020
A
Hello Jan, To my knowledge, they're not wireless. I'm not sure if they will connect to any Polk sound bars. However, they should if the sound bar has a normal hot/cold (red/black) two-prong connection. Plain 10-16 gauge speaker wire is sufficient. These speakers deliver tremendous sound for the money. Hope this helps.
raymond c.  Dec 18, 2020
A
They are not wireless, and they are completely passive. If your sound bar has powered outputs to connect speakers to then yes, they would work, otherwise no. They do sound phenomenal though, especially for their size.
david  Dec 18, 2020
A
They are wired for sure. I don't know what polk sound bars are

Q
will these work well with my (old ! but great !) Luxman R-1030 receiver ?
stephen  Apr 01, 2017
4 answers
A
Hi. The answer is yes. These speakers (Polk Audio TSi100) would work very well with your Luxman R-1030 receiver. It has 30 watts RMS and would handle very well these speakers that need a minimum of 10 watts RMS.
jesus  Apr 03, 2017
A
yes
david  Apr 01, 2017
A
I believe they will work very well. The tsi100 are efficient speakers. You only need 20 watts per channel for them to sound full. your receiver seems to have a clean 30 watts per channel. According to the specs, the total harmonic distortion is at 0.05%(the lower the number the better and cleaner) for 30 watts into 8 ohms, which is suppose to mean you have a strong 30 watts. It would be more than 30 if it was rated like the amps are rated today. You have to spend over $1000.00 to get numbers like that these days.
antoine  Apr 01, 2017
A
I assume would. Power requirement is not severe. I tested them on a Yamaha CR-420 - at least 15 -20 years old and they worked fine.
david  Apr 01, 2017
Q
Will these connect to my computer ear jack and play computer stored music?
j  Feb 23, 2017
6 answers
A
No. this is a passive speakers and need a amplifier in order to operate. The earphone or speaker output of a computer need a active speaker (with integrated amplification) .
jesus  Feb 26, 2017
A
No they will not. They would need an amp. There are small amps the size of a male's hand out there for around 25-30 dollars that can work. You have to search for them. They are around 20 or 30 watts per channel. You will need at least 20 watts. You will have to run regular speaker wire to the amp, a pair of simple RCA jacks and a "Y" adapter to the computer jack.( cheap and simple) You can use any receiver to do this. Just plug into the CD input. You can also buy good powered speakers for computers. Hope this helps,You have a great day
antoine  Feb 26, 2017
A
No, you need speaker wire to connect them directly to your amplifier.
brian  Feb 25, 2017
A
Not easily. These speakers have traditional terminals meant to be used with AV or Stereo Receivers. You would have to manufacture a cable & hope your computer has the proper power output. You would be better off purchasing a pair of speakers specifically designed for use with a Computer or Laptop.
david  Feb 24, 2017
A
I suspect they could but I have no idea how to do it.
david  Feb 24, 2017
A
No, you must use regular speaker cables.

No, these are not self powered speakers. You need a receiver. It can be a small on though
badrinarayanan  Jan 28, 2016
