Loren Barstow
Music lovers and movie buffs alike will enjoy the smooth, clean sound of the Polk TSi300. Its silk tweeter delivers sparkling highs, while two polycarbonate woofers churn out accurate mids and lows. The braced MDF cabinet fights resonance so the details in your music and movies shine through. Dual five-way binding posts let you bi-amp or bi-wire the TSi300 for even better performance — a rare feature for a speaker in this price range.

A woodgrain vinyl finish gives the TSi300 a refined looked, capped by an elegant piano black top plate. At the base of the speaker you'll find sturdy stabilizer feet to keep it anchored to your floor, regardless of whether it's carpeted or non-carpeted. And since the speaker's footprint takes up less than one square foot, you can enjoy authoritative tower speaker sound without sacrificing a lot of space.

Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker structure and cabinet design for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

High Efficiency Design: Compatible with practically any AV receiver, these speakers produce sound that is open, spacious and clear, even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers.

Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: The speaker features two 5.25" bi-laminate composite dynamic balance drivers which are light and stiff for deep bass response and low distortion. For high performance durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk dome Tweeters: The speaker features a 1.0" silk dome dynamic balance tweeter for detailed highs. The tweeter features mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 35Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 47-24kHz.

Enclosure Design

Quality Built Cabinets: The TSi speaker cabinets are extensively braced MDF with ¾" thick baffles. With pewter accents, a piano black top plate and removable black grille, TSi speakers look awesome and take up less than one square foot. All models are available in a choice of black or cherry wood-grain vinyl finishes.

Narrow Baffle Geometry: Narrow baffle geometry is a design that creates a sleek looking speaker with great sound. The high quality cabinet is slender and tucks away easily in your room. The smaller-diameter speaker components are lighter in mass, translating to clearer sound.

Flared Ports: All TSi speakers feature critically-tuned flared ports. Flared ports minimize port noise ("chuffing") and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With flared ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. These TSi floorstanding speakers feature a down-firing power port.

Connections

Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The speaker has two sets of gold-plated 5-way binding posts connected by gold-plated jumpers. Using the dual 5-way binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers.

Mounting Options

Placement: Create an equilateral triangle between the speaker and the listening position. If you notice video distortion or discoloration, immediately move the speaker away from the video source.

Built-In Conical Feet: The speaker features four built-in conical feet to ensure stability for precise bass response and superior imaging.

Q
i have a two channel sherwood receiver 100 w x 2. would i need to bi amp a pair these TSI 300's to get good sound?
brian  Jan 24, 2021

A
No need to bi amp.....100w per channel will make these things rock!
karl  Jan 26, 2021
A
Hi there. You should be just fine as is with your receiver. You could, if you wanted that next level clean sound. These babies are meant for mid range receivers and up. But it's not necessary for them to sound good. They are versatile to sound good with the power your supplying. My set up all tsi speaker all matched in a 5.1.2 Atmos. Sony atmos receiver. Mid range model. Hope you enjoy. Great bang for your buck in that price range.
victor  Jan 25, 2021
A
No. You would be fine with or without bi amp.
keith  Jan 25, 2021
A
These replaced a set of speakers so old the cones of the woofers had deteriorated. Just an old Sony receiver and somebody's bass amp for the woofers. It sounds OK to my old ears. If your ears are good enough to enjoy separate biamps for each speaker I expect you would want much more refined speakers.

Q
This Speaker it is a good choice for Yamaha R-S202??
javier  Jul 01, 2020
1 answer
A
I don't know why not. Yamaha makes fine equipment. The R-S202 specs at 140 watts; I'm using the speakers with an old, 150 watt Sony with no probs.
john  Jul 02, 2020
Q
Is there a minimum/recommended listening distance for these (TSi300)? From seating, listening distance is only 7-8 feet from speaker and I'm afraid they may be too big/close. Please advise.

We bought these about a year and a half ago. We have dining room chairs 3-4 feet from one of the speakers and we haven't had an issue with 'too close.' I will add that after we bought these speakers, every song felt like we we're hearing it for the first time! The sound is AMAZING and these speakers worth every cent!
theresa  May 08, 2019
A
I haven't noticed a problem with minimum distance. I use these speakers for a temporary outdoor theater in the backyard when the weather warrants it. I calibrate the entire system (5.1) with the receiver's proprietary microphone. The kids sit the closest at about 6-8 feet from the center channel.

Q
Would these speakers be compatible with Sony STRDH130 2 Channel Stereo Receiver?
phyllis  Aug 31, 2018
5 answers
A
Yes, they will work. And I love these speakers.
karen  Aug 31, 2018
A
Not sure but these speakers are capable of regular positive & negative hook up via speaker wire given your receiver outputs. Check how much power your receiver sends to speakers & compare to how much speakers can handle.
keith  Aug 31, 2018
A
The SONY is rated 100 watts per stereo channel, and the Polks will handle that. Now, as to what you do with it, ah there's the question, the Polks may behave better with more power for LOUD rock, but normal listening volume should be just fine. I drive mine with a NAD integrated amp, rated about 40 per channel, and I have beautiful sound, so the SONY should be FINE!!
robert  Aug 31, 2018
A
I do not know, but I will see if the person who selected and set them up might know. I will get back with you.
karen  Aug 31, 2018
A
I looked at the specs on the receiver and it's 8 ohms. These speakers should work well. You'll have to keep them bi amped (the metal piece connecting the two terminals) since the receiver only has two channels.
matthew  Aug 31, 2018
Q
Are these Polk Speakers compatible with your Onkyo TX-NR656 Receiver? I am looking to purchase this receiver, but need a decent pair of speakers in this Polk price range
james  Feb 16, 2017
4 answers
A
With "100 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at .08% THD, with 2 channels driven" stereo sound will be FINE. Polk makes good speakers. But if you plan using 7.2 setup fully, remember to keep to efficient speakers for the rest of the channels.
robert  Aug 31, 2018
A
Although I've never used Polk speakers, I am using premiere acoustics speakers and I believe you will get better results with Polk..
julian  Feb 17, 2017
A
Yes they are. However I would go with the TSI400 or even better yet the TSI400 you can still find them oN line cheep.
brad  Feb 17, 2017
A
The Polk Audio would be a good match with the Onkyo receiver.I have a bigger model polk towers hooked up to mine and they sound great. If you are using to play movies, make sure to get a good center channel speaker too.

Q
How is the dual connectors wired on the tsi1300tower speakers?
rickey  Aug 27, 2016
3 answers
A
They come with a hard metal connector, connecting bass and treble terminals. Remove to biwire, leave it there to have single wires coming in.
robert  Aug 31, 2018
A
With jumpers
william b  Aug 29, 2016
A
There are two sets of red & black connectors. You use just one set for a normal connection, and for bi-amping you use all four after removing the metal jumpers.

Q
They seem to be the Polk Audio TSi200 in a larger cabinet. Does the cabinet need to be insulated from a carpet? ie: do they need to stand on some sort of low plinth?

A
No!
michael  Dec 16, 2020
A
They are basically built on a platform. Slightly elevated off the carpet. They sound great!!
norman  Dec 08, 2020

I have mine standing directly on medium shag carpet. They seem pretty stable and I don't think the sound is any less effective.
harold  Dec 08, 2020

A plinth?
timothy  Dec 07, 2020
A
Mine are on the carpet. There are fairly large plastic feet on all 4 corners. We have a medium pile carpet and there is a half inch or so between the top of the carpet and the bottom of the speaker cabinet.

Q
How will my Yamaha Rx-385 work out with these?
ryan  Jun 15, 2020
3 answers
A
I would think great. I have a Yamaha R-N303 and it's 100 watts per channel like the one you have. Buy a set of Crutchfield 14-gauge speaker wire with pre-attached banana plugs and you will have them set up in no time. My family streams TV audio through them by connecting the TV to the amp with an optical cable and it sounds really good especially when they play a movie. I stream music from an iPod by Bluetooth to the amp and that sounds great. As reasonably priced as they are you can't go wrong.
robert  Jun 15, 2020
A
I believe the RX-385 puts out around 70 watts? This speaker will work out perfect.......all the positive reviews are correct. It's a nice warm speaker, with crystal clear highs and a mid-range you can feel in your chest. Without getting into specifics, I have higher end equipment for my front and center channel speakers. I actually purchased these for my rear speakers, and raised them off the ground ( approximately 2 feet ) on end tables. These were actually the biggest surprise of my system. They sound awesome! As long as you know how to calibrate your Receiver, and then maybe do a few manual adjustments to the db's, bass, and treble, I think you will really like these. If you want super loud bass, you will want to add a sub. But overall for a budget speaker you can't beat these! These things will crank!
karl  Jun 15, 2020
A
Should work out just fine. I use these with a Denon A/V receiver and for a home theater setup, for front channel. They don't need too much power to drive, and sound much better than smaller front satellite speakers - sound is crisp and clear.

1) The desc says ported. I do not see a port in the pictures, where is it? 2) It is not shielded how far should it be from lcd TV? Thanks
larry  Oct 15, 2017
4 answers
A
The Port of these speakers is at the bottom of the cabinet (Down Fire Port). If your TV or Monitor is LCD, LED or OLED, do not worry as these types of TV is not affected by Magnetism.
jesus  Oct 31, 2017
A
Up date to my earlier answer. The speakers are ported through the bottom, this the ports are not visible.
alan  Oct 17, 2017
A
Port is on the bottom. My speakers are maybe 2 feet from a 55-inch LED and they work just fine.
dennis  Oct 17, 2017
A
I am using both the TSI 300 speakers and TSI 400 speakers. I use the 300's for the rear speakers and the 400's for the front speakers. Question 1: Ported - I have never noticed the ports, maybe in the bottom (guessing).. I'm going to check when I get home as I'm now curious. Question 2: How far from the LCD TV: Generally my front speakers are about 4-8 feet either side of the TV (65" Sony). The difference in distances depends on how the room is set up. BUT, I also have the Polk CSI-A4 center speaker which lives about a foot under the TV. I've never had an issue with interference. Years ago I had a different system with a plasma screen and definitely had an issue, but none with the Polk and Sony combination.
alan  Oct 17, 2017
Q
Can this speaker be used as a center channel to match the same left and right? Are there any pluses or minuses to this configuration?
scott  May 15, 2017
3 answers
A
I suggest the Polk Audio TSi CS10 (Cherry) that is the perfect center channel companion speaker. Unfortunately Crutchfiiels only sells the model in black.
jesus  Oct 31, 2017
A
During your planning make sure to consider how high the tv would be if you placed it above the speaker. Avoid placing the tv so high your neck so your neck starts to ache from looking up for a whole movie. I wouldn't recommend placing the speaker on its side because of its design.
