No matter what you love to watch or listen to, Polk Audio's TSx440T high-performance towers deliver sweet sound that will make your home theater rock, and put a smile on your face. These floor-standing speakers feature a 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter for clear, detailed highs and three 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance® woofers for taut, tuneful bass. Pick up a pair for stereo music, or use them as your front left and right speakers in a home theater setup.
Polk carefully builds the TSx-series speakers using advanced manufacturing techniques and high-quality materials — they put a lot into them so you get a lot out of them. Each one boasts Polk's exclusive Dynamic Balance® drivers — a bi-laminate design of fiber-infused polymers sandwiched together to form a strong yet highly efficient lightweight cone for natural, low-distortion sound. Polk puts these advanced drivers through extensive testing to find and eliminate resonance points, ensuring that everything you listen to sounds clean and accurate.
Polk also paid special attention to the TSx crossovers, using a high-performance design with premium parts like Mylar bypass capacitors to deliver smooth and extended high-frequency details. Even the enclosures contribute to great sound. Their attractive cabinets use non-resonant MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and non-parallel curved side panels to create a rigid, acoustically inert structure that effectively reduces audible coloration.
Sure, floor-standing tower speakers buck the industry trend toward smaller, visually inconspicuous speakers, but they're hard to beat if great sound is your primary goal. Tower speakers produce powerful sound with excellent bass, making them a great choice for serious music lovers and for folks who want high-impact home theater.
This *really* fit the bill in my relatively small listening space. They sound great, and the price was right.
Pros: sound great, good price, sturdy construction
Cons: awfully tall.
Love them, would highly recommend
Great sound and look makes these speakers a must buy; Very glad I purchased at such a great deal.
Pros: Sound and look
Bought one got the other free.Couldn't be happier.Need to break them in but so far so good.Moved my Infinity towers to the surround channel.Crutchfield is the best.
Pros: Great looking speakers. They will be fine once I break them in.
Just received this speakers, installed them and played some music, they sounded great, I haven't watch any movie yet but I have no doubt that they will sound as good as they do with music, I will recommend this speakers to anyone and if you can get them on a deal like I did, buy one get one free, can't beat that!
Pros: Looks great, sounds great
Whole room shakes with these and the psw125 wi 12 inch sub
Great addition to our theater room! Excellent quality and sound for the price.
Cons: Slightly large.
Crystal clear sound at a level higher than I'll ever really use again. Wish they didn't have such a large footprint, but they are very nice speakers.
I got this product 3 weeks back. i am just loving this speakers.
Pros: I like everything.
Cons: Highs could have been better.
I was looking for a set of speakers to accompany my turntable. My friend suggested the Polk TSx440T speakers. I was very pleased with my purchase. The speakers have greatly enhanced my listening experience. The purchasing and finance options from Crutchfield and the the overall product quality of Polk have made my investment a positive one!
think i just got last 2 of these that they had in stock and recieved them fast, and must say they really sound GREAT! im sure you will like these!
Pros: sound awesome,look nice
Cons: none so far
I chose the 440T's to replace an old pair of LS 50's that found their way to speaker heaven after my 21-year old daughter decided to throw a party in my absence, and I could not be happier with their performance as a solid replacement. For space reasons, I combined the 440T's with Polk's PSW111 ultra-compact subwoofer, and together with a recently purchased Cambridge DACMagic 100 and an older NADA1200 AMP, my living room is back to life...better than ever!!! And ED my stay-at-home cat couldn't be happier. Thanks to Crutchfield on the advice they provided, and thanks to Polk for delivering a great, cost-effective product!
I believe i have found the speakers of my dreams, they are everything i was looking for and more. Crisp, clean sound and they are in a sexy cabinet. I love them.
I have been looking at floor standing speakers for over a year, mainly sorting through reviews of people like me that love music but may not be up on the latest technology. So while it was somewhat of a 'risk' buying these without hearing them first, I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I love a balanced speaker - low / mid / high must be in sync and these TSX series are perfect in that respect. I do plan to test out a subwoofer with them just for the heck of it but they are not lacking in bass response. Fit / finish are excellent - ordered the black as they will stand the test of time vs. the older school cherry finish. Would definitely buy again.
Pros: Crisp, clean and well balanced for a variety of different types of music, particularly soft rock / jazz. NIce fit / finish - well made Great bang for the buck
Beautiful to look at and Beautiful to listen to!
Pros: look great sound great!
Happy I bout it, awesome some quality for the price.
Pros: Awesome wood grain! Great sound & No regrets at all.
Crutchfield has great product and for reasonable prices. I got some speakers as a gift and they are awesome
The Polk 440 tower speaker is a really terrific sounding speaker, It delivers a vary natural sound, and has great bass resonance. For the money, you can't go wrong, as these are reasonably priced, especially if you can catch a sell or find them in the outlet, which is what I did.
Pros: Cost to quality ratio
Cons: None as of yet
Very nice speaker. Good natural sound and well balanced. I chose this speaker over the Klipch because of the lack of mid range. Although the horn tweeter on the Klipch was a little crisper (which I prefer) I couldn't get past the lack of mid's, so I went with the Polk. They bridged the gap perfectly between my book shelf and in wall speakers with my sub woofers. They tied everything together perfectly with my surround sound. They also do a great job as a full range speaker when listening to music. I also looked at the RTi series but read a lot of reviews stating that they need a lot of power. I have 125 watts per channel and the TSx440T's sound great. Good overall multi purpose speakers!
Pros: Good speaker at a good price. "Even better if you can find them on sale, open box or scratch-n-dent!"
Cons: Would like a little crisper highs
Been waiting to buy some quality tower speakers for years now, decided to go with these,......Amazing sound reproduction at a good price, no complaints here, would definitely recommend.
Pros: Easy to unpack, quick set up, good quality.
Fantastic floor speakers and Crutchfield made the ordering simple and easy.
As the title reads: As advertised. This is my first set of Polk speakers and I must say that all of the great reviews they have received are correct. I've only had them about a month, but I can certainly tell the difference. Even though I have yet to break them in, I am pleased with them!
Pros: Very pleasing to the eyes, not too big for floor speakers, great sound for movies and music
Cons: None so far
So far so good. Haven't broke them in yet, but I must say they were worth every penny!!!!!! The highs are good and the bass is incredible!!!!!
Pros: It's all good
Have had the 440s about three wks. They are so crisp an natural. The highs an lows are not to much of either. The one thing I like so well about Polk speakers is that there sound is so natural just the way the artist wanted it to be heard. Some speakers brighten there sound , which is not bad if that's what you want but for the most natural sound Polk is it and the 440s really deliver. they will only get better as they break in. If your looking for speakers, price quality, sound, look no further the 440s will fill the bill.

TSx Series Loudspeaker: Introducing the TSx Series of loudspeakers from Polk; stylish and quality-built for high performance. The high efficiency TSx Series loudspeaker features a unique curved enclosure wrapped in a wood-grain vinyl. The loudspeaker employs Dynamic Balance tuned drivers and tweeters for realistic mid-range, deep, well-blended bass, and incredible detail - for a classic Polk sound that is naturally open, spacious, and clear.
High Efficiency Design: The TSx Series loudspeaker can be driven by practically any electronics, even the most modestly-powered amplifier or receiver. Whether you're connecting them to the newest digital receiver, or to your vintage amp, the TSx Series loudspeaker can produce sound that's spacious and clear, enveloping and realistic.
Dynamic Balance Drivers: The TSx Series loudspeaker uses Polk's Dynamic Balance Driver Technology for great sound. Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion. Using just the right materials enables Polk to tune out performance-robbing resonances before they occur.
Klipple Optimized Motor: Klipple Optimized Motor employs a laser and sophisticated software for large scale analysis of the TSx Series loudspeaker's drivers in motion. Using this state-of-the-art laser and software process, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Silk/Polymer Dome Tweeter: The TSx440T tower loudspeaker features a 1.0" silk/polymer Dynamic Balance dome tweeter with a powerful neodymium magnet structure that delivers clear and detailed highs for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments, without fatigue.
Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: The TSx4400T tower loudspeaker features three 6.5" bi-laminate composite Dynamic Balance midbass/midrange drivers for crisp, detailed midrange and smooth, natural bass extension. These Dynamic Balance bi-laminate composite cone woofers are lightweight and stiff with exceptional damping. They use butyl rubber surrounds, vented polyamide voice coils, massive motor structures, and high-temperature aramid fiber spiders to create a driver of exceptionally high efficiency, clear bass, better linearity, lower distortion, and greater durability.
High Performance Crossover: The loudspeaker employs a high performance crossover system for optimum blending and time alignment of the overall speaker. Mylar bypass capacitors are used to reveal extended high frequency details.
TSx-Series Timbre-Matched: All Polk loudspeakers are timbre-matched within their series, designed with the same components throughout, to achieve seamless speaker-to-speaker blending effects in multi-channel systems.
Frequency Response: The TSx440T tower loudspeaker has an overall frequency response of 33Hz-25kHz, while the -3dB frequency response is 43-24kHz.
Curved MDF Cabinet: The TSx440T tower loudspeaker utilizes a unique curved cabinet design which creates a stronger, more rigid and acoustically inert enclosure. The elegantly curved side panels, which create non-parallel surfaces, reduce unwanted internal standing waves for less audible coloration. Non-resonant all-MDF construction with front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing, and a 3/4"thick baffle ensures cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound quality.
Note: The TSx440T tower loudspeaker is available in either a black or cherry finish.
Flared Port: The TSx Series loudspeaker features a critically-tuned, front-firing 3" flared port. The flared port improves air flow and minimizes port noise ("chuffing"), while ensuring good low frequency extension with low distortion. This flared port design lets the TSx speaker reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass.
Anti-Diffraction Grille: The computer modeled anti-diffraction grille minimizes grille interference, so it doesn't get in the way of your sound. This black cloth grille is detachable.
Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The TSx440T tower loudspeaker has two sets of gold-plated 5-way binding posts connected by gold-plated jumpers. Using the dual 5-way binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). The speaker terminals are color coded for easy identification between positive (red) and negative (black).
Placement: Create an equilateral triangle between the speaker and the listening position. If you notice video distortion or discoloration, immediately move the speaker away from the video source.
Integrated Feet: The TSx440T tower speaker features four integrated conical non-slip feet to ensure stability for precise positioning.

I've had Polk Audio in the past and liked them. Was willing to try some newer Polk Audio to hear how they sound. And with the buy one get one 50% off doesn't hurt. [ JASON Dec 15, 2015 ]

Bang for the buck [ stanislav Dec 07, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: If you need video connections a home theater receiver is your better option, and they can still be used in stereo mode. The Yamaha RX-V675 would be a good choice, because it has USB, two zone capability, good power output, and good processing. Max, I am not an expert audiophile, however, at 61 years of age I can tell you that these Polks are incredible speakers with what I believe to be excellent high, low and mid-range reproduction needing very little power to drive them. There are two sets of terminals on each speaker to accommodate an amp and pre-amp which I understand would enhance sound reproduction. I am not familiar with a phono pre-amp, however, like I said, I am not an expert. I would suggest calling a tech at Crutchfield for an experts opinion. A set of speakers that sounds great to me, may only be mediocre to you. There are many factors involved including; age, room size, furnishings and window treatments in the room distance you sit from the speakers, placement, etc. The Polks you are considering need space/distance to project the best sound quality. I've gotten away from your topic but I wanted to provide a little input. I would think that your turntable would simply interface with your amp. Hope this helps. [ ROBERT Mar 06, 2014 ]
I wouldn't imagine that you would.. looking it up, it looks like that receiver has a dedicated phono input. So it should just be a plug and play setup. And those TSx-440t's are amazing! Crystal clear sound reproduction even at high volume levels, I LOVE mine!! Mike: Pioneer VSX1020-K, Polk TSX440T Towers, TSX250C Center, TSI200 surrounds x6 and a DSW PRO660 Sub. [ MICHAEL Mar 05, 2014 ]
You will need a pre-amp for any turntable-to-receiver connection where the receiver does not have a built-in pre-amp. Before the compact disc era, pre-amps were always built into receivers. Now, only a few specialty receivers for the retro LP aficionado market have them built into the receivers. You can spend anywhere from $25 to several hundred dollars for a turntable pre-amp. I bought a Cambridge Audio 551P at the low end of the price spectrum and it seems to work fine, though I wouldn't claim to be an expert. [ JAMES A Mar 05, 2014 ]
The older marantz have phono inputs so no preamp needed. [ MATTHEW A Mar 05, 2014 ]
