Build a great-looking and great-sounding home theater system with the Polk VM10. Its slender cabinet and hand-polished, satin-gloss black finish perfectly complement today's flat-panel TVs. Attach the speaker's tempered, smoked glass base to place it on a shelf or tabletop, or use the included bracket to mount the VM10 on the wall. The bracket also doubles as a cradle, so you can set the VM10 on its side for use as a center channel speaker as well.

Polk uses laser-testing to eliminate resonance points in their exclusive driver designs, ensuring smooth, accurate response. The VM10's extruded aluminum enclosure combats unwanted vibration for crystal-clear sound. And the speaker's narrow baffle helps deliver a broad soundfield, for three-dimensional audio from any position in your room.

Recommended center channel speaker: Polk VM10.

    Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

    Little package, great sound

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to improve on my front speaker quality but had limited space. I considered the Polk bookshelf speakers (cheaper) but after talking to the Crutchfield advisor I took a chance on these although they are technically surround speakers and considerably more expensive. Upon opening the box I was surprised by the size (they are very small) but was really amazed at the sound. These things are incredible! They are great two channel speakers for non surround tv, radio and IPOD - really filling up the room with very good sound. As front speakers in my 7.1 surround mode they are just incredible. I guess size really doesn't matter.

    Great center channel speaker

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally planned to get a larger center channel speaker to go with my 18 year old Polk tower speakers (RTA 15tl), but space limitations led me to the VM10. This speaker sounds extremely good, and is never overpowered by the large front speakers. Highly recommended center channel speaker for the space challenged!

    Small package, Big sound

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the VM10's as my new surrounds based on their size and overall look (very sleek). I have them mounted on the matching stands from Polk and they are very unobtrusive. As for the performance of these speakers I knew that Polk Audio would not let me down. The VM10's handle all the little nuances of surround effects in a movie brilliantly. They also hold their own when it comes to bigger sound effects, like massive explosions that are meant to be heard all around. Admittedly, I was a little concerned that my fronts and center (Monitor 70's and CS2) would overpower them but after hooking them up to my new receiver (Onkyo 806 that I just bought from Crutchfield) and tweaking the setup these little guys can deliver sound that can keep pace with my larger front and center speakers. I highly recommend these as a great solution for surround sound speakers. Their small, very cool looking, and deliver really big sound. As for Crutchfield's customer service and assistance in helping me select the right gear and getting it to me very fast, I have to say that they are unrivaled and seem to really care about their customers, (they listen to what you have to say and never try to sell you on the most expensive products) which is rare these days. Thanks to all Crutchfield.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Enclosure: The VM10 features a stylishly curved, aircraft quality, extruded aluminum enclosure with a polished satin black finish. The shape of the heavy-duty non-resonant aluminum enclosure breaks up internal standing wave resonance to give you pure, lifelike sound.

Resonance Control: VM cabinets are lined internally with closed cell foam, which further damps the cabinets against resonance and absorbs the back wave of the woofers. Less vibration and internal absorption results in midrange clarity and clear mid-bass response.

Mix and Match: The VM30, VM20, and VM10 are voice matched and, with the addition of a subwoofer, can be combined to create a surround system to match many room configurations and budgets.

Mounting Options: The speaker can be mounted vertically on the supplied tabletop stand, mounted horizontally on the supplied cradle/wall bracket, wall-mounted vertically or horizontally using the supplied cradle/wall bracket, or mounted using an optional stand or wall mounting bracket.

Tabletop Stand: The speaker can be mounted to the supplied tabletop stand using the supplied hardware and one of the speaker's two threaded inserts. When mounted on the stand, the dimensions are:

    • Width: 4.705"
    • Height: 11.414"
    • Depth: 5.080"

Bolt-on Bracket: The included wall mount bracket (which doubles as a cradle) bolts onto the back of the speaker using the supplied hardware and the built-in threaded inserts. It has two keyhole slots and should be firmly screwed into a stud or used with a wall anchors (drywall hardware not included). The bracket can be oriented vertically or horizontally and the speaker can be angled as much as 30° (approximate) in either direction. When mounted on the bracket, the dimensions are:

    • Width: 4.510"
    • Height: 10.229"
    • Depth: 5.083"

Cradle: The VM10 can sit horizontally in the included cradle (which doubles as a wall mount bracket). The speaker can be tilted as much as 30° (approximate) up or down. When sitting in the cradle, the dimensions are:

    • Width: 10.229"
    • Height: 5.170" (varies slightly with the angle)
    • Depth: 4.713"

Speaker Terminals: The speaker uses high-quality 5-way binding post speaker terminals for a secure and convenient connection. You will need to remove a plug that's inserted in the center of the posts if you wish to use banana plugs.

Video Shielded: The VM10 is magnetically (or video) shielded for safe placement near your TV or computer monitor without causing picture interference.

Grille Badge: The Polk Audio insignia can be attached to the top or bottom of the grille, either along the long or short side, to match the installation orientation.
