Very Crisp Tweets

Written By Clay, Florence,AL on Sunday, February 18, 2007

I got a pair of these tweeters at a discount price because they weren't in the original box. So for the money, I'm totally satisfied with their performance.

I did not use the flush mounts they came with because I didn't want to cut on my car that much. I hooked'em up and ran them to sit on dash with them slightly pointed to driver/passenger direction.

The tweeters really bring out drum noises such as cymbal crashes and rimshots so much it almost hurts(in a good way, crystal clear). Guitar riffs and especially Digital Tones(as heard in Gorillaz or Justin Timberlake) sounds really nice. Really good tweeters, Like'em alot.

Good speakers

Installation was easish. One of my star brackets almost broke during installation with a little too much pressure. I had to remelt the bracket to make it solid again. Not that big of deal, just becareful. Otherwise, the speakers sound great and are way better than the 2" tweeters that were stock in my car...

I replaced the stock tweeters in the rear of my '97 BMW Z3 Roadster with these Infinity 1011t's. Wow, what a difference. Super crisp highs that really helped to balance out the stock sub. With the stock tweeters all kinds of music sounded flat and muddy. Now I have a much better balance between the highs and the lows. I was impressed to say the least.

Great news... you can stop looking for tweeters. You just found them. I installed them (custom) on the windsheild pillars of my 2000 Jeep TJ and I am totally impressed. Anyone that drives a wrangler knows it almost impossible to get good imaging. if you have the sound bar you cannot even hear the front speakers because the rear are so close to your head. Well, these changed all that. It "moved" the sound from behind you to right in front of you where you want it. If you don't have the soundbar, it brings the sound up off the floor. They even sound good with the top down and the doors off at 75 mph. Great buy

All the Hardware made installation easy. And it sounds great in my 2006 Equinox. I custom install 2 pairs of speakers in the front and in the back. That really raise the sound level. This is a great addition for any sound system.

These tweeters sound very good. Clean and accurate, however the crossover frequency is not specified. The spec mentions 2500Hz. It is a 12db per octave design that calculates to approximately 5000Hz at -3dB based on the componet values of the included crossover.
My only dissappointment was with that fact. Being an engineer I was able to modify the crossover to fit my goal.(this may void warranty but I do not listen real loud)
If you are looking for clean, crisp sound from cymbals & horns they are excellent. They do not go much into the vocal range with the included crossover.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these on my Honda Element EX (w/stock 6 speakers). It took some fabricating to install these speakers. I wanted to simply replace my stock tweeters and use the factory tweeter grill. However the stock tweeter grill won't work so you'll need to use a hole saw to install the supplied flush-mounting system into the existing tweeter locations.
A bit of labor was involed but the A-Piller covers come out of the Honda relatively easily and there is even room for the tweeter cross-over to be installed under the A-Pillar cover.
Definately worth the time and money if your brave enough to drill some holes in your car and sodder the connections to the stock tweeter connectors.Or you could have dad install it like I did!
All in all, fantastic speakers however you may want to consider a component sytem if you plan to replace all the seakers in your vehicale.
Crutchfield is top notch!

I dropped these into my mazda 3 into the stock brakets and they made a huge difference. I paired them with a clarion deck and 6x8 from infinity. You can tell the difference they make in sound over the stock speakers. Great!!

Wow, all my CDs instantly sound better

Grabbed these on Crutchfield's suggestion. I'm glad I did. I placed these in the dash and all of the sudden everything sounded better. Besides picking up the really high frequency symbols and percussion, I also got more realistic vocals and horns. I'm hearing stuff I didn't even know was there. The imaging is much better too.
Crutchfield threw in a plate of ABS plastic to make a bracket in the dash. I had to use the starfish bracket (included) and cut out a piece of the ABS to mount it on. The whole thing took me a while (7 hours including a trip to Lowe's for a 1 3/4" hole saw) but I'm picky on details and not that experienced. Definitely worth the money.

Sound great

I installed these in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They sound great! They come with 3 different mounting options but none of the options would work in the default location of the original tweeters. Had to make a bracket to mount to dash and hold these speakers in the original location. Well worth the effort once they started playing!

Crisp, Clear, Excellent Imaging

I actually installed these tweeters as part of the Infinity 6010cs component system but felt compelled to comment about the tweeters because they really make the system.

These were installed right on the factory tweeter brackets in the doors of a double cab Toyota Tundra. Infinity provides a variety of mounting options in the package, making this easy to do.

But it's about the sound. These speakers (as well as the 6" woofers) were actually driven sufficiently by the factory system but the Pioneer head unit I installed (22w RMS per channel) really made them shine.

Great sound, crisp and detailed, with superb imaging. Just adding these tweeters to the factory system can make a great difference.

Strictly Highs

Written By Scott, Charlton, MA on Tuesday, October 11, 2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spoke to a Crutchfield rep about replacing my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee's front tweeters and these were suggested. Jeep wants over $150- per speaker, so these were a good alternative.
I needed to make some custom brackets but the install went smoothly and they were in place in about 2 hours.
The sound from these were strictly high frequency, and they sounded aweful with the factory stereo.
These tweeters are designed to complement an existing speaker, and cannot be used to replace tweeters which are designed to offer both highs and mids.

Use these to complement an existing 5" or 6" speaker and they will affer a fantastic sound for a silk tweeter... do not use these for replacing a Jeep's front tweeters.

Great tweeters

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was missing some "presence" in the front of my Mustang convertible. I added these to the sail panels (Top front of doors right by mirrors) using the I-Mount. Took about an Hour and a half and they look factory.

With a Sony 50 watt per channel amp connected to the door speakers (I wired these tweeters in Parallel with the door speakers) the system comes to life! Sweet, crisp highs that are smooth and not raspy.

All in all, if you need some more highs somewhere in your system, these things rock!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2005 tacoma double cab. Installed 2 Pioneer 6x9's in front and 6.5" Rockford Fosgates in the rear. Powered with a Kenwood kac 8401 w/ 60 watts rms times 4 channels. Stock head unit though since there's no kit yet. It sounded way better than stock, it even blew away the factory JBL upgrade. But something was missing. So I tried these Infinity Reference tweets since they are 4 ohm rated and the Kappa's are 2 ohm, I was going to wire them parallel with the Rockford's. First off the starfish mounting bracket is brilliant!! I easily mounted them in the stock location. And with 45 watts RMS going to them... All I can say is WOW! These are detailed and SMOOTH!! It's everything your product advisor said and more!! They were just what I needed!!

Tweeter Material: Each tweeter features a 1" edge-driven silk dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount adapter and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the flush-mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Surface Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Bottom Mount (to grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Flush Mount (in-dash location): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the dash. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
