Features Crossovers Features Material: Each tweeter features a 1" edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome, resulting in increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters: I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface or flush mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system: Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup. Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount adapter and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the flush-mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging. Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles: Surface Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place. Flush Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place. Bottom Mount (to grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted. Flush Mount (in-dash location): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the dash. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place. The starfish mounting didn't help me at all but nothing beats hot glue for tweets in stock locations, guess that's why the oem's use it. Written By Rick, East Windsor,NJ on Friday, June 20, 2008 I purchased the Infinity Kappa 107t as a replacement for the dash mounted tweeters in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, with the Factory Infinity Sound System, that were blown out. The dealer wanted a crazy price for the OEM Speaker, so for less than half the price of one OEM Speaker, I got a set of New Speakers. With a little creativity, I bent one of the old style radio mounting straps, into a square U shape, mounted one of the plastic brackets that came with the 107t to the metal strap, cut the wires off my old speakers, put on heat shrink tubing, soldered the wires on,heated the heat shrink tubing and screwed the speakers back into the OEM location, then did the same for the other side Put the Dash Panel back on, and what a sound from those tweeters! They are fabulous! The entire project took less than an hour to complete. Plus when you look at the dash, you can not tell anything was changed, unless yopu turn on the Radio and hear the clarity, especially with the CD's! A Great Product at a Great Price! Written By Todd, Ventura, CA on Monday, April 21, 2008 Phenomenal sound from these little tweeters. No distortion or harsh sounds. Incredibly smooth even at high volumes. They added great definition to my stock stereo in my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, replacing the original in-dash tweeters (which disintegrated a little bit ago). The in-line crossovers were easy to stash in the dash under these to keep the original look to the vehicle as well. I eventually added a MTX Thunderlink to round the whole system out. Thanks to Crutchfield and all these thoughtful reviews. Well worth the price! 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 First non-Polk tweeters! Most of us who know our pick-ups understand that it is very difficult to get the sound 'just right'. That said, these babies really help. I placed the tweeters using surface mount (no drilling or cutting) with double-sided 3M tape near the A-pillars on the top of the dashboard so that they reflect off the windshield dispersing the highs very nicely at ear/head level. But wait, there's more! Add an amp and sub-woofer with component speaker up front and some decent plate speakers to the back and you have a miracle!I have had them for over 4 years. That should help those considering their potential longevity. No problems at all. They are worth every penny. 14 out of 17 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I am very particular and honestly this tweeter does not produce the sound I was looking for. My other four interior two-way speakers are the Infinity Reference 6021's and I absolutely love the SMOOTH upper frequency sound they produce. I added these Kappa 107t's to add some image to my front soundstage, and when I wired them in parellel with my Reference door speakers (powered by a 40W RMS Alpine AMP), the tweeters over powered and drownded out my 6½'s. I had to disconnect and rewire to my Kenwood headunit (50Wx4) to reduce and even out the sound. Much better! These tweeters produce a very sharp, metallic high which is crystal clear, but the sound does not balance well with the Reference series speaker. If I were to choose again, I would get the silk dome Reference tweeters, or install a component woofer in the door panel. I give this product 5 stars because they are an excellent tweeter, but not fit well with my setup. 67 out of 86 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
