Our take on the Infinity Reference 1240w

Got enough juice? Get an amp for your new sub Infinity Reference subwoofers add a strong jolt of bass to your system at an affordable price. Their solid construction and innovative basket design provide extended low-frequency response and excellent power handling.

The Reference 1240w 12" subwoofer features a polypropylene cone, suspended in a large-roll rubber surround that absorbs distorting vibrations for cleaner sound. A progressive spider design applies more force to the cone as it travels to its limit, for superb control in extreme conditions. The vented polepiece cools the motor structure for increased reliability, while the aggressively-styled basket minimizes depth while allowing plenty of woofer excursion.

Enclosure Compatibility

Features

High-efficiency Polypropylene Woofer Cone: This lightweight and popular material is used to ensure maximum woofer efficiency. The benefit is high output with modest amplifier power.

Large-roll Rubber Surround: The large-roll rubber surround provides optimum cone-edge suspension and absorbs distortion that may travel up the cone edge, ensuring clean, tight bass.

Proprietary Basket: The unique basket design delivers a decrease in mounting depth while maximizing woofer excursion.

Vented Polepiece: The vented polepiece provides additional cooling of the motor structure. The subwoofer's thermal capabilities are augmented, increasing power handling.

Progressive Spider: The subwoofer uses a progressive spider, which provides better control at excursion limits than more commonly used linear spiders. The result is reduced distortion at high output levels.

Gold-plated Binding Posts: The gold-plated binding posts will accept pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and bare wire.

Note: The binding posts are positioned too far apart to accept dual banana plugs.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Infinity recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 cu/ft.

Recommended Ported Box Volume: Infinity recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 2.0 cu/ft with one 4" diameter x 12-1/4" long port.

Recommended Sealed Bandpass Box Volume: Infinity recommends a sealed bandpass enclosure with an internal volume of 3.0 cu/ft. The enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of 1.25 cu/ft and a ported chamber volume of 1.25 cu/ft with two 4" diameter x 8" long ports.

great

Written By Alix, Pittsburgh, PA on Wednesday, February 08, 2006

these subs are awsome. I have 2 of them, and as of now i'm still breaking them in, but they slam pretty hard. they have clean sound to them, even though i just threw together a 1.26 cu. ft. sealed box. i'm running them with a power acoustic 220W x 2 amp and i got them in the trunk of my 1994 pontiac sunbird.

Infinity Reference 1240w

Written By Jin, Carlsbad, CA on Thursday, February 02, 2006

I have 2 of these in a 1.3cu sealed enclosure powered by 205W RMS each. I must say they don't sound that bad at all. They are definitely budget subs, but after about a 1 week break-in I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. These aren't straight SPL subs. Tuned right they are a great solution for those on a budget.

Excellent subs!

Written By Eric, Oshkosh, WI on Tuesday, January 31, 2006

These subs rock. They hit extraordinarily well for the price. I'm running them w/ a 1600 watt 4 channel bridged amp. I have alread had my mirror fall off due to the sheer magnitude of the sub's bass. You really can't describe how great these subs are. If you're looking for some great 12's, get these.

Shocked

Written By kyle, Culver, IN on Wednesday, January 25, 2006

I originally had a pair of DHD 500 RMS 1000 Peak power hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate P5002 amp... i thought that was loud... then i got the Infinity buy one get one free thing, hooked up with the same amp... it literally broke my bracket to my rear view mirror... these things are awesome! Definately worth the money to buy.

great subs

Written By Mark, Medford, MA on Sunday, January 15, 2006

i was very suprised when i bought these subs. i have two of them in a sealed box that i also bought from crutchfield hooked up to an infinity 611a amp and i am giving them about 328 watts rms each which isnt over their limit by alot and beleieve me, they can handle it. as soon as i installed them i turned it up jus a little and gave it a few decibles of bass boost and i could feel hard bass in my stomach and i could feel my hair moving, literally. you will not be dissapointed with these subs
