Great Replacement Speakers!

Written By Wendell, Allen, Ok. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these with A Pioneer DEH-4000UB receiver. This receiver has a low pass filter so bass blockers were not needed. They sound great and really compliment my system. The supplied brackets fit fine. The only problem, and it was minor, is that I had to use a Dremel to remove a little metal on the dash so that the contacts would not come in contact with the dash.

Sound Stage Complete

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are definetly what you need to get your sound stage focused. There IS a built in bass blocker so an extra purchase is NOT necessary. These speakers do there job and a little more. Clear crisp sound, at a good price in my opinion.

I have been back time and time again.

These speakers ROCK!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased for OEM replacement for '99 Jeep G.C. dash mounted speakers. With some basic opening mod's I was able to install this slightly larger unit with the other OEM components. They rock so well that I'm hoping my wife blows out the rest so I can upgrade the other four speakers. You wont be disappointed!

These speakers sound great. Dont't forget the bass blockers (another $10) unless you want to solder on the resistors that came with the speakers. Crutchfield customer service is the best!!!

Amazing sound quality... with a stock amp!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am extremely pleased with the sound of these speakers in my 2000 Grand Cherokee. The existing speakers are 2.5" speakers, made soley for the Grand Cherokee. They blew without much power and well, a replacement is either OEM or custom fitting into the dash. It wasn't that hard. You have to put away one of the dashboard's tabs that holds the speaker. One screw is enough to hold it down since it is a very tight fit. Use a die cutter or a dremel (and use a towel to protect the dash, just in case.

Sound quality: The stock amp puts out 180watts to six speakers. It is PERFECTLY matched to the capability of these speakers. The depth of the instruments and voices is now heard. Don't Stop Believin' never sounded so good! For those who like jazz, Sing Sing Sing will make you sing all day long with these speakers.

Grand Cherokee owners: Yes, it is hard to get them in the dash. The install is not for the faint at heart. If you're willing to play around with the speaker and cut a little bit of the dash that is not visable, you will be very pleased with the difference in sound quality. Oh, I heard the Blaupunkt speakers are smaller, sound as good and are easier to install. I'm just an Infinity guy so I bought these.

What a deal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I added these nicely priced Infinity speakers to the dash of my 2006 Dodge Stratus SXT, which has the openings for dash speakers but didn't actually have anything installed from the factory. Obviously, the difference in sound was dramatic. These tiny Infinity speakers are a great complement to my four full-range Pioneer TS-A6962R 6x9s (another outstanding value) in the front doors and rear deck. The sound has a wonderful presence.

There is one huge caveat, though. The instructions that come with the speakers are embarrassingly horrible. The speakers come with bipolar transistors (bass blockers) that must be added to roll off the bass frequencies to these top-heavy speakers, especially if they share a line with full-range speakers, as in my setup. The catch is that the instructions don't address these at all. You must solder the bass blockers into the positive wires. If soldering isn't your thing, be sure to buy Crutchfield's bass blockers, which are much easier to install.

* Great sound.
* Exceptional value.
* Solid construction.

* Poor instructions.
* Must solder included bass blockers.

I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with the infinity 7-speaker audio system with the factory cd/cassette player. I installed these (3012cf 3.5 inch) as a direct replacement to the left and right speakers in the dash.

pros: affordable, look way better than the stock black paper cones, the included capacitors really cut down unwanted bass, and they comfortably handle the factory radio's max volume.

cons: no noticeable difference in sound quality.

Overall, I think this was a good buy. Although I didn't get the increase of higher frequencies (treble) I was looking for, the pros outweighed the con.
To get the crispness I'm looking for, I'm going to have to replace the center dash speaker. I've been told it acts as a tweeter. I'm guessing the cone is around two inches in diameter. Dropping in a tweeter will help, hopefully.

Great speakers

Written By jcool1985, Atlanta GA on Tuesday, April 03, 2007

I put these in a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited with the factory "infinity" sound system even the factory system uses 2.5 inch paper full range speakers in the dash. I had to remove some plastic under the trim piece for these to fit but boy was it worth it plus the cutting is covered by the trim piece. The sound is amazing from these speakers. I still have the factory head unit and amp and these speakers are a perfect match. The highs and mids are awesome much better than the factory speakers cound ever do and they get louder and are clearer at higher volumes now also have good midrange bass too. Since all Chrysler's stereos are similar in performance and design I am sure these would make a big improvement in any chrysler,dodge,jeep vehicle. And for the price they CAN'T be beat! Thanks Crutchfield and Infinity!

Great little dash speakers, superb for the low price.

I put a pair of these to replace the terrible paper cone speaker in the dash of a 1985 Chevy K5 (full-size) Blazer 4x4. After pulling the dash pad, the speakers went in with little effort, using the bundled wiring harness adapters and mounting adapter brackets. They were installed with XTC foam baffles and 100Hz bass blockers (no point in having a speaker this small try to do anything under that freq anyway). Easy as pie to install, and it wasn't the first time I'd had the dash pad off.

It was huge upgrade in quality from the OEM paper cones and they sound clear as a bell. They are decently matched with a pair of Kenwood KFC-410 4x10s in the rear (I wanted those to fit behind the OEM grilles, which they do). The head unit is a JVC KD-HDR1 to round out a good, low-priced system. I'll be adding that little JVC CS-BB2 powered sub under the driver's seat for a teeny bit of extra bass. I mostly listen to classical/symphonic/opera and classic rock music, not hip-hop or rap, so that should be enough bass to fill in the bottom end.

to infinity and beyond

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

these speakers as with all infinity (AFTERMARKET) products are simply the best, in my opinion. they sound crystal clear and definitely lived up to my expectations for construction and sound quality...i will warn buyers who happen to want to put them into a 1995 chrysler lebaron as i did, you MUST grind out a substantial ammount of plastic for them to fit and the driver side is a tight squeeze even with the material removed. well worth the effort just make sure you have a means to grind away the plastic or you will be very very frustrated because it will not be possible to just force the speaker into place on the driver side.

Installed these in the dash of my Dodge Intrepid that did not have the premium system. Also installed Panasonic reciever. The brilliance and clarity is incredible. Can't imagine better sounding speakers of this size. Note:I used bass blockers so as not to get low frequency overload at high volume.

These speakers put out quite a bit of sound for the size of them. Perfect addition if you running them off a deck and other speakers off an amp. Overall a great speaker to fill an area with sound or replace dash speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace my stock Infinity "premium" system speakers in my 03 Dodge. Even the premium speakers are paper cones. I can't believe the difference these make. I have them running off the stock amplifier and everything sounds SO much better. I am definately happy I purchased these speakers.

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

3/4" Polycarbonate Balanced-dome Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/4" polycarbonate balanced-dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Capacitors: The supplied 100 microfarad capacitors can be used to gradually roll-off bass below 400 Hz. The capacitors are installed in-line on the positive lead of each speaker.
