Legendary sound

Infinity's Kappa Series 462.11cfp 4"x6" plate speakers continue in the tradition of this legendary line of speakers, offering rugged construction and impressive sound quality. Once installed, these speakers will bring out every nuance and detail in your favorite music tracks, making time spent in your car seem more like a concert than a commute.

Large soft dome tweeters

If you're looking for natural-sounding high frequencies, Infinity uses edge-driven 3/4" soft dome tweeters in this system. The "edge-driven" design creates a larger tweeter that handles more power and delivers smooth response way down into midrange frequencies not covered by smaller "W"-shaped domes. You'll hear a more clearly defined soundstage where you can picture the placement of every instrument. Each tweeter also features a level control switch so you can adjust the brightness to your taste.

Glass fiber woofer with Plus One+ technology

The Kappa glass fiber woofer holds its shape when the power's cranked up, so you still get punchy and defined bass. Glass fiber weighs less than traditional materials, so you don't need a ton of power to drive this woofer. Infinity's Plus One+ woofer technology extends the cone right up to the edge of the basket, giving you more surface area than with most comparable speakers. A bigger cone means more bass to complement the superior high-frequency response.

Great for any system

These 2-ohm speakers are sensitive enough that you can power them with an aftermarket stereo, but you'll get your best results feeding them plenty of power from an outboard amp — up to 60 watts RMS. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

I put these in my rear doors and was I surprised by how they put out such a full sound from them. Love them!!

I put these in my rear doors and was I surprised by how they put out such a full sound from them. Love them!!

Pros: Nice mid-bass with crisp highs.

Cons: Would be nice if they had some speaker grills and if the tweeters were adjustable to fire at different angles.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were recommended by Conrad, and they are great. The sound is very crisp and clean. I was concerned about the output of such a small speaker, but I was wrong. Because of the magnet size, I had to modify the plastic door mount brackets. The installation was a breeze.

Pros: A powerful for the size, clean and crisp sound

Cons: None

Great speakers.

Put them in the kick panels of my 67 Camaro. Drastically better than the previous Pioneer 4x6 speakers. Very clear and get tremendously louder without breaking up.

Pros: Best 4x6 I have heard.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They are perfect for me! Crutchfield states that they will not fit the dash. Yes. But if someone knows how to modify the air conditioning ducts by heat gun, they can be molded to clear they magnets. Filing off the grille pegs also allow easy installation. These are mods many folks may not want to venture into. But for me, I didn't want two set of speakers so close together by doing kick panel installation. They would have been right beside the door speakers when closed.

Pros: Sound quality is very nice, very clear. Kappa series have a quality build of products, expect years of enjoyment.

Cons: None, except for my install, it took some modifications, but I knew that ahead of time and didn't stray from the project.

Good overall sound. I wasn't blown away, but it was way better than the factory speakers I replaced. Tyler who helped me online was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Pros: fairly easy to install

Cons: They sent me wire harnesses which needed to be cut to connect to the existing wiring. Had to go buy butt connectors. Why didn't they just include what we needed?

These door speakers are great, they fit perfectly in my doors when I thought they wouldn't, but they slipped right in. They hit the symbols and higher pitched stuff like they are supposed to nice and crisp. They're great for the price and sound great with my two 10" subs. Without them all I'd hear is booooom and nothing more haha.

Pros: Crisp, loud, can handle a lot of power constantly. And no theirs not much bass people that not what door speakers are for..

Cons: Nothing.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these speakers as a factory replacement item. With the instructions provided installation was simple. I did go to a local retailer and buy some plastic interior/trim tools which helped immensely. The pigtails provided allowed easy install and no wire cutting. The sound of these speakers compared to stock are really impressive I am using my stock head unit and am thrilled with these speakers. I listen to rock/metal and these speakers are up to the challenge. All original panels went back on flawlessly.* note you will have to drill mounting holes and supply your own hardware. not a straight swap but worth the little bit of effort if you have a drill, bits and are mechanically inclined. Speakers have a much better sound , much richer, deeper and the clarity is second to none. A+

Pros: Sound Great

Cons: Could be a challenge for some, pretty simple for most.

I blew the stock rear speakers in my truck and didn't realize for a couple weeks. I came to the conclusion it was because of the sound quality coming from my infinity front speakers so I decided on matching them in the rear. I ordered the speakers and they arrived to my house in two days! Great service!

Pros: Fast shipping, great product, excellent customer service

Installed yesterday, in a 2000 Malibu. Deck: cde-141bt, amp: jbl-gto-3ez, 3 channel. The speakers are 2 ohms, so running off a deck, is a bad idea. Amp rms rating of 75W @ 2 ohms, crossed them over at just above 80 hz, and those speakers sound incredible! Great vocals, crisp highs, and too the power like a champ! Highly recommended!!!

Pros: Awesome sound!!

Cons: No hardware included, but between the screws holding the oem speakers, and the included harness from Crutchfield, easy install

Great speakers, excellent compliment to the Primus series in front. This awesome little plate speaker dropped right into place in the rear doors of an 02 Silverado ext. cab. Took longer to remove and reinstall the door panels themselves. Can't wait to install an amp, and really get them going!

Pros: High quality, great price!

Cons: None!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers seem to be good units, but with the underpowered head unit I attached them to, I won't be able to really gauge the sound quality until I get the new amp installed.

Pros: The plate design fit perfectly into the stock dash location in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I also liked the fact that a small dome discrete tweeter was worked into the design.

Cons: I wish the speakers had a higher power rating.

Compared to the stock speakers this is a great improvement. Using with stock radio sounds really clear. Did a little research and I think the sensitivity of 94 dB was the key. Went right in to the dash with free wiring adapter and install plates.

Pros: Great sound and easy install.

Cons: None

Installed these in the stock location (high behind the seat) 2011 GMC 3500. They are underpowered by the stock radio but the 2 ohm impedence was supposed to help with that. Can't say they are a big improvement, none at all unless you turn the volume up fairly loud. For the money i would suggest you try something else.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sounding speakers for the rear doors in my 2005 Silverado. Bought them to match the Infinity Kappa speakers I recently installed in my front doors.

Pros: Excellent speaker for the money. Make sure you also get the speaker baffles.

Cons: No hardware to install the speakers. Front door speakers came with sheet metal screws. Had to stop the installation and drive to the local hardware store and buy 8 sheet metal screws and washers. It wasnt' the money that was the issue it was the time. The screws should have been included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been doing some research on what speakers I wanted for my Jeep , the Infinity Kappa 462.11cfp had everything I was looking for in a speaker. Clean crisp sound with just enough punch and super bright highs... the sound is pretty awesome and with the install plates and wire harness that Crutchfield send you for free ,made the install super easy had them installed in little under 30 min ,no hassle fit for the 02 Wrangler.... My Jeep still has the factory cd player receiver with a 3 band eq and the speakers sound is what i wanted... when the new head unit is installed the sound will probably be even better.. cannot wait.

Pros: great price, awesome sound.... easy to install

Cons: I have no regrets buying these speakers, just what I was looking for......

Features

Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speaker cones offer more surface area than other speakers that fit in the same size opening. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The result is greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Formed Glass Fiber Woofer Cones: The formed glass fiber cone material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.

iCGM frames: The Kappa series speaker baskets are made of composite Injected Carbon Glass Matrix (iCGM). iCGM is lighter and stronger than stamped steel; it retains its shape, even when mounted on uneven surfaces (common in car mounting locations), plus offers exceptional damping of any resonances.

Edge Driven Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" Edge-driven textile soft dome tweeter. An edge-driven tweeter has better dispersion characteristics and allows for a lower crossover frequency than typical tweeters of the same size, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and musical clarity. The tweeter also has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and +3 dB.

High-Output Design: The high output 2-ohm voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring and extracts every watt from factory receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers). The speaker's 2.0-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected headunit or amplifier. The speakers also benefit from increased power when you upgrade the wire and add aftermarket amplifiers, designed to power a 2-ohm load.

Power Handling: Although Infinity lists the RMS power handling as 60 watts, they also list the recommended power range as 5-100 watts RMS. We've opted to list the more conservative 60 watt RMS figure on the specifications page.

The high-pass filter frequency for the built-in tweeters of these speakers is not published by Infinity. I can tell you it is at a frequency optimized for the tweeter and ensures it does not receive any frequencies below the range it can produce accurately. If you need the specific cutoff frequency, you can try contacting Infinity directly: 800-553-3332 I hope that helps! For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy  Nov 17, 2015 ]  Staff
It is to control the crossover for the speakers. Set it up one way then sit and listen, do the same for the other setting which setting sounds best in your car. Go for it. [ ROBERT  Jan 16, 2015 ]
I went with the +3 db setting on these. I think that was with the button pushed in. The only reason to do this that I could come up with was that I got a bit more highs at lower volumes. It helped brighten up the sound in my truck a bit more. [ KEVIN  Jan 12, 2015 ]
Thanks man. I'll probably run them without an amp until I get some money. I just didn't know if they would work at all without one. [ Caleb  Aug 03, 2014 ]
Thanks! [ Caleb  Aug 03, 2014 ]
I bought the 462.11 speakers for the front dash and the 52.11 for the sound bar in my 04 Wrangler. I wanted speakers with a 90 or higher dB Sensitivity rating. Wired them in to the stock wiring harness and we can now hear the radio with the top and doors off. If my radio goes out I'll replace it with something with more power but for now the stock radio sounds a lot better after replacing the speakers. I was thinking of replacing the radio at the same time but being cheep I decided to change out the speakers first to see how it sounded. Hope this helps. [ MICHAEL  Aug 03, 2014 ]
The speakers will sound great if your powering them by an after market head unit. But keep in mind most after market head units push out 45 watts peek power not RMS power. So chances are if you run them off of the head unit you could only push the speakers at half capacity. If you amp them you will get the full capacity of the speakers. [ ADRIAN  Aug 02, 2014 ]
