Infinity Kappa speakers incorporate the latest technology to provide you with outstanding sound reproduction. And, thanks to Infinity's innovative low-impedance design, they're built for high efficiency as well.

The Kappa 462.7cfp 4"x6" plate speaker features a super-stiff woofer cone to minimize flexing that can cause distortion. The Plus One cone offers a larger surface area than comparable speakers, for improved bass output and efficiency. The woofer's powerful, compact neodymium magnets weigh much less than traditional magnets — a nice feature when you're trying to save weight in your high-performance vehicle.

Infinity uses the same type of tweeter found in many of their popular home speakers, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded, with minimal coloration or distortion. And since the tweeter is mounted separately from the woofer, you'll enjoy accurate and realistic imaging.

The computer-optimized crossover employs audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows so that the woofer and tweeter work together for smooth, balanced sound. Grilles are not included. (Factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.)

Important Note: These Infinity speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with all factory and aftermarket stereos.

RICH, FULL SOUND

Written By miles, Hurricane, WV on Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in the rear of my wife's 2007 Aveo5. Cruchfield said they would not fit. I had to trim the car's speaker grills on the underside and also had to trim one corner off of the speakers' plastic plates. HUGE improvement over the stock speakers which sounded like someone with marbles in his/her mouth and talking through a styrofoam cup. I am always a fan of Infinity products having their speakers in my truck as well as another car I previously owned. I'm currently running them off of the stock deck, but will be adding an amplifier, sub, new deck, dynamat in entire car, and Infinity 42.7 Kappas to the front doors (which I purchased with the 462.7cfp's) as soon as the weather warms up. The amplifier should really make these speakers "come to life".

06 Silverado ext cab

Written By Travis, Oklahoma City, OK on Saturday, November 15, 2008

These are about what I expect of a 4x6 speaker. I have them paired with Infinity Kappa 60.9cs components, and they're really just to fill out the sound from the rear. The highs aren't that high (even with the tweeter set to +3db), but my front components do fine in that department. They're powered off an Alpine 9886, with 300Hz bass blockers and speaker baffles installed too. Again, not bad sound for filling the rear stage and for the price.

sounds good, but....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these for the dash of my 94 C/K 1500 to replace the stock paper speakers. I have these running of the factory radio (for now) and they sound good, but can't handle all the bass my stockers could. I will be hooking these to an amp soon and installing a set of bass blockers at that time. The +/- db switch for the tweeters is a nice feature.

C/K owners beware!
1) You have to cut metal tabs in the dash to mount these which isn't a big deal.
2) The front factory bolts were not long enough to bolt these down so I jerryrigged it with some longer phillips screws.
3) There are no speaker terminal connectors or wires with this kit so you will have to get some of your own wire to and either sauder to the speakers and splice into the factory wires, or buy some terminals to crimp on your wires and splice to factory wires which are extremely short after you cut off the factory terminal.
4) Crutchfield does not provide the factory wiring diagram for the front speaker wires.

All of the above is a total disappointment, however I did not let if affect the rating. I gave these three of five stars because I expect a set of speakers by infinity to handle the bass the 15 year old OEM paper speakers did. They don't, but I did expect as much.

Good Little buggers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love infinty. only downfall with these is the coil coming out the back behind the tweeter. attempted installing these in 99 k1500 chevy. the coil was grounding out on the metal v on the panel. ended up taping it with electrical tape. works great ^_^
would recommend these to anyone who need little speakers...be wary of the copper coil though..

Won't fit 1990 Chevy C-Series Dash

Written By bullert, McLean, VA on Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally bought these speakers for the dash of my 1990 Chevy C-1500
Dash. The site recommended them as an OEM fit. They don't fit. The right
speaker bumps the heater plenum. However-Cruthfield was more than
helpful finding a replacement and promptly sending it out. Overall- great
service by Cruthfield.

Good Speakers Given the Size

Written By Mark, Utah on Wednesday, July 02, 2008

I recently installed
a pair of these in
the dash of 2003
S10. There were no
speakers recommended
in the fitment guide
here at Crutchfield
or other fitment
guides I searched.
These speakers fit
nicely and required
only a minimal
amount of plastic
removal on the
bottom of the
speaker grills stud
hole. This was
necessary to
accommodate the
thicker plate on the
Kappa's. I believe
this would be easily
accomplished by
anyone capable of
installing their own
speakers. Due to the
small size of these
speakers and the
close proximity to
the windshield a set
of Bass Blockers
were installed.
These speakers fit
well and sounded
great even driven by
the deck's internal
amplifier.

Crutchfield was as
always helpful,
prompt, reasonably
priced and on time
with delivery. Of
course the speakers
arrived with all the
bells and whistles
extras that make
Crutchfield who they
are. I would
recommend this set
up for anyone who
might be looking for
speakers for a set
of 4X6 in dash
speaker.

Not that great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I thought these speakers were just terrible. The factory speakers that
they replaced actually had better sound quality. Needless to say, these
are being returned first thing in the morning and I am getting the Polks I
should have bought in the first place.

Jeep install

Very easy to install in a jeep. Crutchfield sent every thing needed for the install. Sounded great with the new Sony stereo and infinity roll bar speakers.

Infinity Rocks

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound incredible, I got a pair for my 93 chevy s-10 blazer, and wow what a difference. The highs are very crisp, and the mids are clear, but the speakers lack good bass response, but that is expected when you see the size of the speakers. The +/- 3db button on the speaker for the tweeter is a nice addition if you want louder highs. Great overall speaker. And as always crutchfield has awsome tech support and good prices.

Need perfect

Written By Jacob, Sacramento on Thursday, April 20, 2006

Used these as replacement along with kappa perfect 6.1. The highs could be better but i would give them an average rating. Buy some bass blockers for these if your into running bass through subs or other speakers they cant handle much.

Great Sound, Small Package!

Written By g9m3c, Winfield, AL on Friday, December 23, 2005

These speakers lack massive bass response, but for a small plate speaker, what do you expect? They have excellent highs and the tweeter boost is great. These speakers can be a great addition to any stereo system as long as they are on a crossover. They sound great, but don't ask for more than they can give. I have them installed in the dash of my 93' GMC Sierra, and they sound great with my Kappa Perfect 6.1 Components in kick panels. The plates and a nice component set really create harmony together! Don't hesitate to buy these speakers, and remember to buy high-pass xovers while you're at it! I give them 5 stars because they excel at just what they were designed for, excellent reproduction of mids and highs!

Impressive!

Written By Jesse, Solon Springs, WI on Tuesday, November 29, 2005

This is by far the best dash speaker that I have ever heard. It has snappy highs and unbeatable midrange response. Too bad the stock grills cover up such a sleek looking speaker! I would recommend these speakers to anyone that enjoys high quality sound!

Great replacement speakers!

Written By hawleyrw, Dayton, OH on Tuesday, June 21, 2005

I bought these as replacements for the OEM fronts on an 04 Jeep Wrangler. Not too many good options on 4x6 out there, but I wanted a decent two-way setup. These offer GREAT highs and good mids to suppliment my system. By themselves, I'd say they leave a little to be desires, but as part of a full system (4 speakers + sub), they do quite well. Enjoy!

Features

Plus One Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: The Plus One speakers use cones approximately 30% larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: This woven-glass-fiber material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.

Motor Structure: The new Kappas use a Neodymium motor structure with an integrated heat sink. This design provides a massive amount of energy while minimizing mounting depth and magnet diameter. The integrated heat sink cools the motor structure efficiently, thus increasing power handling while reducing distortion.

Edge Driven MMD Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an Edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome tweeter. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer. The tweeter has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and +3 dB.

SLIT High-Output Design: This high output 2 ohm design extracts every watt from today's amplifiers and hi powered receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers).

Crossovers: Kappa speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers, using audiophile quality air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors.
