Premium materials distinguish the Infinity Kappa 572.5cf 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers from the rest of the pack. These Kappas feature a Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm woofer and tweeter, formed by bonding an aluminum cone to two layers of ceramic. First used in Infinity's award-winning Prelude home speaker line, C.M.M.D. is an extremely rigid, heat-resistant material that reproduces music with remarkable accuracy.

The C.M.M.D. Plus One woofer cone incorporates a unique basket design and a hi-roll rubber surround to deliver robust low-end performance with minimal distortion. The angled Unipivot C.M.M.D. tweeter may be turned to create the best possible imaging. Customized, voice-matched crossovers (18 dB/octave, 3,500 Hz high-pass and low-pass) direct the right frequencies to the right drivers for superior efficiency.

With some of the highest power ratings in its class, you can be sure these speakers will play your tunes loud and long. Grilles are not included — use your factory grilles for installation.

Great Speakers!

Amazing product

Written By cs_joe_cs, WA on Friday, April 08, 2005

I bought these speakers for my 98 Ranger extended cab, and they have blown me away. The highs on them are insanely good. When I turn up the bass it makes my rear view mirrors shake a little, and makes stuff in my car rattle. Currently I am not running an amp with them, but I am hoping to get either an Alpine or more likely a Phoenix Gold to make these sound even better (if it is even possible).

Also, you can crank these without damaging the tweeters because it has a crossover, so the tweeters will not play anything but the highs.

Very very very good product, well worth the money (especially because they are on sale right now for 90 bucks :-)), but I would have paid the 150, they are worth it.

Sharp Highs...too sharp

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Kappas are just too harsh for my taste! On some music, they sound fine, but on any music with cymbals (for example) they are difficult to listen to for very long at even modest volume. Mids seem to be fine, but I will not buy Infinity again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Kappa 5x7's fit perfectly in my Ranger. The sound from the hard dome tweeters is so crisp...so much better than soft dome (especially for classical). These speakers handle the 100 watts RMS without a crackle even when you crank it. Best of all, the adjustable tweeters...put it this way, in the driver's seat you can point the tweeters right at each of your ears (passenger loses out though). Infinity Kappa is unbeatable for the price.

Features

Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.): Infinity's C.M.M.D. technology delivers accurate performance with dramatically reduced distortion for incredibly lifelike sound. Additionally, the C.M.M.D. drivers can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity and sunlight.

C.M.M.D. Plus One Woofer Cones: These speakers use cones approximately 30% larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency. In addition, the C.M.M.D. cones virtually eliminate coloration due to cone flexing, resulting in less distortion and superior accuracy.

Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

UniPivot C.M.M.D. Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" C.M.M.D. dome tweeter that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes. The UniPivot tweeter is angled (non-adjustable) and may be turned up to 355 degrees for optimum imaging and in-car frequency response. It is not made to turn 360 degrees. If the tweeter is turned 360 degrees or more, it will be damaged.

2-Way Crossovers: These speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers. Each crossover features an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz high-pass network for the tweeter and an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz low-pass network for the woofer.

Crossover Connections: Each crossover has an 11" input lead terminated with bare wire and two 18" output leads, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter, terminated with female quick-slides. The positive woofer lead has a 0.205" female quick-slide and the negative woofer lead has a 0.110" female quick-slide. The positive tweeter lead has a 0.250" female quick-slide and the negative tweeter lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide. These quick-slides connect directly to the woofer and tweeter terminals on each speaker.

Crossover Dimensions: L=3.458", W=1.734", H=1.087"
