Excellent Value

Written By NRam990, Chicago IL on Thursday, May 08, 2008

Great Speakers, had them in the doors of my 94 camry, with the 6x9 version in the rear deck. They were running off of my alpine deck, I also had an alpine sub and amp in the trunk. Great speakers for the price, excellent sound. If you will be running speakers off your deck, get these, if you want to run an amp with them, look into the polk db as well as these. I just purchased another set of these for my new car which has 6.5" openings all around. Very pleased.

Decent Speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

for the money, you definately get a lot. great full range sound and good sensitivity. i have this running off the factory upgraded headunit in my 08 xb and it does what it's supposed to. you lose some bass output, but what you are left with is tight and punchy. throw some subs on and you won't regret buying these. hook them up to an amp and give them the power they really need and you'll wonder how you ever did without them.

again, a decent upgrade from a factory speaker if you're looking for more clarity, not bass!

Great Little Speaker!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these speakers installed in my 2006 Chevy Express Van and just installed them in my 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS. The speakers play loud and CLEAR! I also have Infinity 9613i 6x9 speakers in the rear deck and a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP head unit. I also bought the factory Pioneer Subwoofer, which sounds great! I'm pushig the whole system with an Infinity 5350a 5 Channel Amp. All I have to say is these speakers are Excellent at reproducing the mids and highs for all music! I've read that some people said that these speakers don't produce enough bass and thats true. They were NOT designed to do this! These speakers give excellent coloring and overall warmth to the whole sound system. They reproduce the sound very accurately and handle the power from the amp just fine, even at very high volume levels! If you use these speakers for what they were desinged for, you'll be very impressed and happy you bought them and for the price, they perform better than some higher priced speakers of this size!. I would highly recommend them for the true audiophile!

Very nice speakers

Written By Brian, Spring, TX on Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I just received these speakers for Christmas (I asked for them). I had reviewed the specs of all the speakers in the catalog, and the sensitivity rating seemed very good. I've owned numerous Infinity products, and have never been disappointed. They rock! They are hooked up to a moderate powered amp (45 Watts/channel). I was concerned after seeing several reviews that were not very good. Believe me, they are nice. I am not running them full range, so maybe that's the problem with the bad reviews. They have the bass cut out, and a sub takes care of the lows. When you have them set up like this, you can't go wrong for the price. Hope that helps.

Weaker than my cardboard stock speakers

Written By Howad, San Jose, CA on Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I first installed one of these 6012i speakers on my left door and by adjusting the sound to go left or right, I can compare the 6012i to my Camry stock speaker. Here is what I found about these speakers:

1) The highs are clear. I hear instruments that I can't hear from my stock speaker.

2) The overall volume is softer. I simply call this speaker weak.

3) Many people are right. The speaker lacks bass. Of course you can hear some and you can increase the bass by adjusting the headunit. However, at the same volume, it puts out less bass and become easily distorted at high volume.

Overall, I am very unsatisfied. It doesn't give me as full sound that I am getting with my stock speakers. I will definitely return these. Save your money and look for something else.

Worse than the garbage stock speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 2005 Subaru Legacy Limited, and tried them in the front and rear doors, they replaced teh factory speakers, that were made of paper, plastic basket, and tiny magnets, they were one way speakers. Well they sound horrible and unclear but at least there is some lows and mids.

These Infinities sound like alarm clocks, no real lows, weak mids, and decent highs, its very very poor sound. Sounds like its outputting everything at the same frequency, im returning these and am gonna try some different speakers.

I went with Polk components in the front and those kick if you hook them up correctly.

Cant recommend these at any price.

Good value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are hooked up to my Kenwood head unit without an amp. They produce much better sound than the factory speakers, but don't sound as good as their big brothers, the Kappas. But for the price you really can't complain. The silk tweeters produce a more natural, less harsh sound than many high end speakers, which I like.

Great Value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had Infinity products before and I knew that I could expect a great product. I mounted these speakers in the overhead sound bar on my 1995 Jeep. They sound great with my Infinity 7540a 4 channel amp, which is rated at 111 watts per channel. These speakers are well worth the money!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Exactly what I was looking for in a speaker: High sensitivity rating for use with headunit's internal amp, made by a brand I trust, good reviews...

The only odd thing with these speakers is that, out of the box, they sounded a little off in the low end. It sounded like I was driving them into clipping even at low volumes on drum hits (like a "Pup-Pup-Pup" noise). I turned on the high-pass filter on my new unit to unload the low end and figured I needed a subwoofer if I wanted more bass. Now, after a couple weeks of breaking-in, they sound way better in the low end and I am no longer afraid to turn 'em up with the HPF off! If you find yourself in a similar situation, give them a few weeks to loosen up before you consider returning them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had 4 hooked up to an alpine head unit and it sounded ok at low volume and distorted at high volume. I hooked up a punch 2502 amp to it and it was better but still distorted. Then after 3 days one of the speakers blew. I sent them back and upgraded to the infinity kappas.

Installed these speakers in my 1998 Toyota camry got them in the doors and the rear deck, Great highs I have a JVC KD-HDR1 and cranked to 50 they are cranking. Had to play around with some settings but i turned all the bass off and it will make ya blink on those high's. Have a 12" in the trunk, dont count on these speakers for bass cause you arent gonna get much. Highly suggested for rock or classical rock.

Great Just Great

Written By Charles, Orlando, Fl on Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Well i had these installed in my 2002 Ram 1500, even though crutchfield said they wouldn't fit, they fit perfect in the rear doors only thing was i had to use some self tapping screw to secure them in since they didnt have the correct screw pattern... but overall great sound and music is now coming out of them.. def recommend!

Wonderful Speakers

Written By Matt, Durango on Friday, October 06, 2006

I bought these to install in the front doors of my 97 Honda Civic Sedan (w/o keyless entry). If you have my type of car and want these speakers in the front you will have a few issues BEYOND the installation allerts. This also goes for 96 and 98 years, too.

The speakers are GREAT in the front doors! They make a wonderful replacement to the factory speakers, even without additional amperage other than the SONY HU. Clear sound with very good frequency response.

In the rear-deck I had Infinity Kappas installed and A Sony CDX-GT400. See my other reviews.

Great sounding speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 2002 Toyota Highlander, with a Sony CDX-GT200 receiver and a Sirius SIR-PS1 subwoofer. Very pleased with the sound. Same crystal-clear highs I always get from Infinity speakers. One note of caution: the brackets Crutchfield supplied fit the car doors, but the speaker screw tabs stuck out beyond the plastic on the brackets. I had to screw the Infinity plastic rings onto the Crutchfield-supplied brackets and then screw the speakers to the rings. Minor annoyance; well worth the sound. Other than that, the Crutchfield instructions were excellent, especially telling me exactly how to remove the door panels.

I received these speakers for Christmas and installed them the following week. So far I have been extremely pleased with the quality and sound of them. They have made a major difference in the sound of my CD's and local radio, to an extent. I would definately install them in another vehicle!

Blue Chip Choice

Written By John, Falls Church, VA on Saturday, February 04, 2006

I knew I could trust the brand. My only question was whether or not it would fit in the front door of my 03 Trailblazer. I got Infinity speakers all around for my surround sound home system, so grabbing their car speakers was a natual choice for me. Crutchfield fit guide says it would'nt fit but the speaker fits perfectly with a lot of room to spare. I'm powering them with a Kenwood KDC-MP628 head unit. These speakers are extremely accurate and they have what I call "honest" bottom end. I have them running full range and my sub is crossed at 60 hz. This seems to be a good blend. Overall I could'nt be happier with a pair of coaxial speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these in the rear door of my '01 QC Ram. The "What fits my car?" says they'll fit. Well...technically they do, but its tight. You have to use the grill bezel (without the grill) so that the woofer surround doesn't rub on the door panel. Other than that, they are great. The sound is incredibly clear. They are being driven be an Infinity Reference 7541a, with the front channel running Infinity Reference 6010cs 6-1/2" 2-way Components. All set to high-pass since I have an Infinity Reference 611a driving a JL Audio Steaalthbox for the low end. A very nice setup. Can't imagine being happier.

Good Speakers for the Job

Written By Joseph, Chattanoog TN on Sunday, September 04, 2005

These speakers did exactly what I wanted them to do, play mids through higsh. they play well down to around 120hz and will start to distort some after that. I have these running with about 55 watts and they sound great. I also have a sub running and I cut the bass out of these.

If you want these speakers to sound good, use a sub and either some bass blockers or a crossover. These will not reproduce bass well, but play higher frequencies loud with very little distortion.

Great Speakers

Written By Anonymous, Longview, WA on Monday, August 01, 2005

The Infinity 6012i is a great 2-way speaker. I installed a pair in the doors of my '92 Mazda Miata, and the sound is great. The pros include the ability to control the direction of the highs with the adjustable "reference" tweeter and the superior mid-range sound you'd expect with $100 speakers. The only con is that the bass becomes a little muffled when cranked up. However, I blame this on my low-power outdated reciever. Again, the adjustable tweeter is incredible, and insures that I never miss a high when flying down the road at 90 with the top down. Over all- A great upgrade. A+ for Infinity.

Clear speakers really crisp detail

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers the 6012i and si series for my 2005 nissan sentra specv. I have these running off of the Panasonic CQ-C8100U which runs a constant 25 RMS to them. They are very audible and clear. Although they obviously were not ment for much low-mid, low end. If your Bass system doesnt have a good frequency range and reporduction, lets say your running JENSEN KS subs I would reccomend maybe getting something with good mid range and lower. However if your Subs have good range and are deep these get the task of running clear treble and good highs to your cabin.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are an excellent value. The clarity in the vocals and highs are so much more defined over my stock speakers. I purchased a set of these and a set of the shallow ones for my ION and of everything I've replaced so far on the audio system, these were the best upgrade so far. Being a smaller size speaker the low end bass response is lacking, but these aren't intended for that. If you're looking for a low priced speaker that sounds great, you've found them. I play a lot of alternative (emo, punk), R&B, rap, & house. They all sound loud and clear on these. One tip however is to make sure you have enough power. The stock amp in my Alpine deck was enough to push them to a decent volume, but if you're looking for more get an outboard amp with at least 50W a channel--it will do wonders.

Great Imaging And Clarity - Very Easy Install

Written By Jason, Knoxville, TN on Thursday, June 02, 2005

The Infinity Reference 6012i is a great 6.5" speaker. Driven with an Infinity 7540a amp, these speakers really shine. The clarity and imaging are fantastic. Like all small drivers, the bass performance is marginal. One thing that you can count on is the frequencies these speakers produce are very full and lifelike. Installation was a breeze.. Just a heads up, the tabs are for mounting in a 6.75" opening. For 6.5" holes, mount the supplied metal ring first, then attach the driver to the ring using the small screws in the bag. Enjoy!

Good Clarity

Written By Austin, Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 20, 2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are nice speakers. Instructions are very minimal, bad for new people installing (me). Took me about 3 hours to install front and back because i got really confused, maybe it was my car. My speakers had 3 holes whereas these have 4, so modifications were needed, they didnt mention that. If you are looking for good bass speakers, stay AWAY. Infinity speakers aren't meant for bass and you will not get good bass with these.

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

3/4" Silk Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses a 3/4" edge-driven silk dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot tweeters are angled (non-adjustable) and may be turned up to 355 degrees for optimum imaging and in-car frequency response.

Note: The tweeters are not made to turn 360 degrees. If they are turned 360 degrees or more, they will be damaged.

Intermount III: Infinity's Intermount III mounting system allows the 6012i speakers to fit in 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications. A metal adapter ring is included with each speaker.
