The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience. You probably spend more time listening to music in your car than in your home. Why not enjoy home speaker sound quality when you're on the road? Infinity Reference 6012si 6-1/2" speakers feature silk dome tweeters that would be right at home in your living room speakers. These sweet-sounding domes deliver crisp, clear response, yet won't fatigue the ears. Infinity designed their Plus One+ woofers with more surface area than other 6-1/2" speakers, for higher efficiency and improved bass output. A sturdy rubber surround suspends the cone in its non-resonant powder-coated steel basket. And the 6012si requires less mounting depth than most other 6-1/2" models, so it can fit into more vehicles. Settle into the driver's seat and make the most of your daily drive time with the exceptional sound of Infinity Reference speakers. Features Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency. Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response. Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output. 3/4" Silk Dome Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/4" edge-driven silk dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. Intermount III: Infinity's Intermount III mounting system allows the 6012si speakers to fit in 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications. Metal and plastic adapter rings are included for each speaker. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Outstanding Clarity Written By Robert, Kalamazoo, MI on Monday, April 16, 2007 I installed these in the front doors of my 2000 Honda Insight, and they fit perfectly with no modifications required. These speakers continue to sound better and better as they break in. They have outstanding clarity and smooth highs, as does every Infinity I've ever heard. Instrumentals and vocals sound just fantastic! Bass is adequate but not fabulous, but they are limited by their size and thus I don't knock them for it. I set the high-pass filter on my head unit (Kenwood KDC-X591) to 60 Hz, which eliminated muddy washed-out sounding bass at the expense of some thump. I am planning on adding a compact powered subwoofer at some point, just to round out the bottom end, but even by themselves they're leaps and bounds better than the stock speakers. I recommend them highly. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Infinity update Written By Gary, Bakersfield, CA on Saturday, April 14, 2007 I recently inherited a 1995 Plymouth Voyager with the factory Infinity audio system. After replacing the OEM headunit due to a disfunctional clock and adding a 6CD changer and Sirius receiver, I thought I'd swap out the 12 year old OEM Infinity speakers for more up to date versions. Hence my purchase of these 6012si References and the matching 5.5" dash and 6x9" door panel Refs. First, I think the 6x9s would have worked in the rear hatch eventhough Crutchfield indicates they would not. Both the 6012s and the 6x9s were more difficult to install than expected. I had to drill holes in the door mounts to get the 6x9s in. I don's know what Chrysler was thinking when they faced the door panel speakers directly into the front seat bolsters, rendering them nearly inaudible except when the doors are open. The 5.5s fit the instrument panel perfectly though and were the easiest to install. Overall, the sound quality is good. As expected, light on bass and treble is excellent. They still need to "break in" but I'm not sure the whole swap is enough of an improvement over the old OEM Infinitys to have justified the cost of replacement. I guess speaker technology hasn't improved as much as I anticipated. Live and learn. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Good speakers, not so good instructions Written By jacky, Grapevine, TX on Monday, April 09, 2007 The speakers are a good value. I got them on sale. I'ved used Crutchfield for years; always good instructions, great customer service. These instructions were not up to par with others. I had to improvise a bit (break out the Dremel). It took me about 2-3 hours to removal the OEM's and install the new ones. They sound good, but don't have a lot of bass. Ijust use my rear speakers for the bass. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Infinity Reference 6012si Written By Mark, San Diego, CA on Monday, March 19, 2007 I replaced the stock speakers in a 07 Honda Ridgeline with these. I did not realize how bad the stock speakers were until I installed these. I do not have a problem with a lack of bass because I have the factory installed subwoofer. The highs are much more crisp and I feel that I am hearing the music as it is intended. Just using the instructions I would not have been able to install. Just know that you will need to drill holes to install the adapter bracket. Actually you will need afix the metal bracket included with the speaker to the adapter bracket supplied by Crutchfield. You will then attach the speaker to the metal bracket. You will also need to cut off the long screws supplied with the speaker once you have installed the metal bracket on the plastic adapter bracket... if that makes any sense. It took me 2 hours to do the first speaker and an hour to do the other three. 4 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Infinity Reference 6012si Written By Marshall, Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 I love the speakers because they offer excellent clarity for vocals and instrumentation. I also have bass blockers on them to keep them from blowing out and they work great. Since I have Infiniti 6x9's in the rear bass isn't a real problem. My only problem is that Crutchfield didn't give me any screws to connect the speakers to the adaptor. Other than that (1/2 hour finding screws) things were great. Speakers 5 and no screws make if a four. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 All I expected Written By Paul, Redmond, WA on Saturday, February 10, 2007 As others have noted, these speakers are not going to shake you with bass. Being shallow 6.5's, though, one shouldn't expect that. The high frequencies truly sparkle, and mid-range is clear, tight and full. With even a small (8") subwoofer, though, the sound is fantastic.I have these in the back deck, with a pair of 6.5" Kappa components up front and an 8" Kappa sub in the trunk. A similar setup would more than satisfy anyone who's not looking to shake the windows.Overall, I've preferred Infinity speakers to everything I've owned except some very pricey Boston Acoustics. The only disappointment I've had was with the white-cone Reference series. After less than 3 years in the back deck, the cones literally fell apart. They were like crumbled parchment. These, though appear more substantial and I'll hope for better longevity. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 #1 in Clarity.
