Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Good overall value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front doors replacing the OEM 9yr old speakers. The installation for the 6 1/2 was pretty straight forward. Take out the old; drill new holes; mount the new... the tweeters however are another story! They do not fit the factory mount at all. If you want to keep a factory look and not install them external to the door grill you will need to be creative. I ended up breaking the OEM tweeter to use as a mounting plate for the new tweeter. The first door took ~2.5 hours and the second door ~1.5. The wiring harnesses need to be modified for use with the crossover and mounting the crossover is another consideration. I drilled a hole through the mounting holes and tie wrapped the unit to the main wire harness. Overall, the install was not not difficult just challenging and a test of my creativity.

The speakers, along with the old Kenwoods in the back doors, have revived the sound quality in the truck. I once again enjoy listening.

Make sure you have enough wiring harnesses, I had to get another set for the back doors since I only ordered one with the speakers and I was replacing all four speaker locations.

Also, depending on how you install these you'll need more connectors for the speakers. the package seemed to be short some, but that may have been because I replaced all the speakers and mixed up some of the parts.

I would recommend these speakers for the front doors even with the small challenges of the install.

Jeep Grand Cherokee with Infinity System

Written By Justin, Tuxedo, NY on Saturday, October 17, 2009

When i first got these speakers the sound really bad no bass at all, and i was waiting about a week because you have to breakin the speakers and they still sounded the same. Then i realized that somthing was wrong. I decided to to disconnect the speaker bar (by the tail gate if your vehicle has it) and then when i turned on my radio all of a sudden i got bass finally. I am using the factory amp so my only guess that the amp cannot handle 4 2ohm speakers and then the 2 factory 8 ohm speakers. Before i reinstalled the sound bar i pluged it back in and just disconeccted the woofers and just left the tweaters pluged in because i dont have any in the rear door. These speakers sound great know so i only can image what they will sound like once it goes the the actually breakin in now with the bass.

The icing on the cake!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a Regular cab, Chevy S-10. I have Infinity 6 1/2 coax. in the doors, 2 Infinity Silk
dome tweeters, one mounted next to the coax, one on the sail panel. I have a set of
Boston Acoustics 4 X 6's in the dash and a Kicker 12" CompVT Subwoofer/box in the
back. I have an Alpine 400 X 1 amp powering the Sub, an Alpine 40 X 4, (50 X 4 at 2
ohm) amp powering the coaxials and one of the tweeters, (just measured the
impedance, will power the second tweeter, powered by the head unit in the sail panel,
with the amp on that channel also). The 4 X 6's do fine with my Kenwood head unit. So,
for the other channel of the amp, I got a set of these components and a Q form, kick
panel mount, and I'M BLOWN AWAY! THESE SPEAKERS ROCK! I already had a loud,
can't hear the person sitting next to you system, now, the dedicated midrange makes
every detail perfect. The drums and guitars are so accurate; kinda muddled together,
even with the extra tweeters with just the coaxials. With 3 separate tweeters, I have to
turn the highs down, but now I have the mids covered so well, I can't believe I waited so
long to get components. Of course, with the addition of another set of speakers, it's
louder than before, but now it sounds like a concert in my truck. I hope there's a few sets
of these left in a month.. I'll get more just to have them!

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Picked these up to replace a pair of Kicker KS600 and KS650 speakers which didn't seem to have the sound i really wanted. I've Had these infinity's for over 6 months and they are still going flawlessly. Awesome crossovers make it an easy install and almost impossible to blow the tweeters with no mids/lows going to them. I have them running off an Alpine MRP-F300 amp So the fact that you can run these at 2ohms is a huge improvement from most other speakers as i was able to get 75x4 outta my amp instead of a 50x4 at 4 ohms. Hardly any distortion at high volumes, and i mean really high volumes. I turned the tweeters down a bit as the crossover has a +3 db and a -3 db option when hooking them up because with 4 + the standard 6 1/2's in a 97 Saab convertible its a little overpowering even with 2 Kenwood subs in a 1.75 each sealed box running off a clarion amp at 425 rms each. Its hard to get good sound in a convertible and these really accomplish just that. With my old speakers i couldn't hear much of anything over the subs pounding when i really got into it. Haven't blown a single one of these speakers/tweeters while i blew 3 pairs of JL tweeters with the same power recommendations. Infinity defiantly pulled ahead on this one. Would definitely buy these again and will most likely carry them to the next car as they are able to handle a bit more power then I'm even pushing them. I would how ever strongly suggest an amp with these as they are pretty power hungry.

Used with success in JET SKI

Written By Colin, Houston, TX on Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Pros: DURABLE, loud, inexpensive
Cons: 'good enough' sound quality

I was looking for some reasonably priced speakers to bring somewhat clear but especially loud sound to my jet ski. For those not familiar with stand-up jet skiing it usually involves the jet ski being covered in water or jumping across ski boat wakes. I installed one woofer and one tweeter running off a 1000W RMS amp (overkill but it was laying around). The speakers have stood up to a year and a half of playing really loud while being submerged and beaten on choppy waters. Oh yeah the underside of the woofer and the crossover are exposed to the water, gas vapors, and engine heat inside the two-stroke ski. Sound quality -even bass- is pretty impressive considering cost, loudness, and durability. I also own 6 series at home and some nice BostonAs in my car, this doesn't come close in quality but if you want loud, durable, inexpensive, and 'good enough for outside' quality these speakers are amazing! I was expecting to replace the speakers every few months due to water and heat, but they keep kicking! P.S. when the woofer gets filled with water it's fun to watch the bass notes kick the water right off in concentric star patterns!

I've installed the Infinity 6020CS in both front and back without any problems, they fit perfect. Had to do a little custom work with tweeters to get them in the stock location by door handle and was able to do with out any cutting. They sound excellant.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

well i bought these back in april 09 to replace the monsoon system in my 01 passat. knowing next to nothing about car systems and things of that nature i asked around to alot of different people who installed systems, had systems or knew more than me; so everyone. infinity was the name that kept coming up so i decided to go with their cheapest line considering cash was limited. Also, just to make sure the quality of the sound would be consistant regardless of the volume, i hooked an alpine mrp-f300 amplifier for a boost in power. its all wired nicely with streetwires as well. so after breaking in the speakers, creating some new rattles in my car and investing quite a bit of cash for the purchase and installation of these things, i blew out a tweeter. but its all good because im getting it replaced but it makes me wonder how much longer does the rest of my system have before one by one my speakers die. anyway, overall the infinity references were a good buy and if you want quality for a good price, go with infinity.

For the price, anything else is foolish!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am a repeat customer of Infiniti. I bought these as I own a '97 Dakota that came from the factory w/Infiniti sound system already so install was a no-brainer. The only thing I had to do was make new brckts. for the tweeters as the new ones are a little smaller than the old.
As for sound,if you are expecting bass that rattles your insides, GO BUY A SUB and power amp! The bass, and highs, and mid-ranges are PHENOMINAL the way they are. We all must remember these spkrs. are only 6.5 in. and they will only move that much air! Would I buy them again?

Loud and clear

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had these installed for about a month and a half now and I couldn't be happier with them. I have them running off a Rockford 50x4, Tweeters on -3, High pass filter at 100Hz, No bass/treble boost, Bass 0, Mid 0, and treble -1. I also dynamated and sealed the doors. Mid bass is fantastic and the highs get more mellow as time goes by. Give them time to break in and they will not disappoint you.

Will not Disappoint

Written By MelloFello9, Harrisburg, PA on Thursday, June 18, 2009

I have two pairs of these in an '04 GTI and could not be happier with the sound. They are driven by an older amp (75x4 min@12.5vdc). Input originates from a Sony CDX-C910 head-unit routing through a Sony ES4000 DSP module. All signal paths are optical.

I actually preferred these to the Kappa line as the high-end delivery seems smoother. Matter of taste (prefer soft-domes), I'm sure, however, I did test drive the Kappas and returned for the Reference. I have these running on the -3dB line and would suggest that as a starting point for folks.

Power handling has not been an issue at all. The 75w. listed earlier is waaaay conservative for this amp. I'm running them at 13.9v and, combined with the incredibly low 2 ohm impedance, I'm sure they're getting 100 - 110w solid with peaks well above that number. They are crossed-over at a relatively low 70 Hz and not a single errant noise has been emitted from them.....and I beat them pretty bad! They seem to blend particularly well with the Infinity Perfect 12's, too. Imaging is simply amazing with proper tweeter placement.

This is my fourth set of Ref. components and tenth set of speakers from the Reference line. I have not had a single quality issue with ANY of my Infinity speakers. If you have problems with them, check your install twice as it's more than likely not Infinitys' fault... ; ) Not saying their infallable, just very consistent in my experiences.

clean stage

Written By jimmy v, NC on Thursday, June 18, 2009

I took the deal on the Infintiy 6" components and 5 & 1/4's package deal. I just installed them in my 08 Silverado EXT CAB. Install was typical Crutchfield: easy as reading the directions. I had to make 2 calls to techs but everything else was beginner level. With my 2- 10"JL W3v3, RF Power 600-2, Pioneer AVIC F90BT, This set up put the icing on the cake. This is the best System I have ever run (15 years of being an audio freak).

They have not even been broken in, but are a great addition. Step to the Kappas if you have the $$, I had the $$ but went with the reference and they rock. The Harmon Kardon headphones were a bonus ..... THX again Crutchfield!! See you next system.

Great Buy

Written By Jason, Wyoming on Thursday, June 11, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are way better then some of the reviews lead on. I have a '98 GMC K1500 and I replaced both door speakers and the tweeters. The tweeters will fit with some slight modifications to the original tweeters bracket. The speakers have great sound, tweeters are way to sharp on the +3db so I would recommend the -3db or put the crossover in an easily accessible location (I think those are the correct settings its been a month since I've messed with it). The bass is better then expected, it is really impressive for a 6.5" speaker at least when your listening to rock, some rap sounds terrible if the volume is to high. I think that some of the customers were expecting the sound of a (12" sub) judging from the reviews. Make sure to buy some additional speaker wire, about 4 ft should be enough if you are mounting the the speaker and tweeter relatively close the the crossover.

Give them time!

Super clear sound! I got these to replace the factory speakers in my 06 Colorado crew cab and they made me have to invest in dynamat to keep my panels from vibrating. One thing you do need to break them in!! When I first turned on my stereo I thought what a waste of money. Yes the highs were fantastic, but it was like there was no more bass than the factory ones, but after about a week I found myself having to dynamat everything.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a set of Infinity Reference 6.5 installed in stock door location, they've always sounded terrible and always cut out at higher volume. I had assumed my Blaupunkt head didn't have enough juice for them, and they sat too low to the floor. I decided I HAD to find a component system for little cash, found and ordered a Sony system from a local store. Just for fun I came back to Crutchfield and found this great deal. Ordered, delivered and installed them myself within two days. THIS is what I'm talking about! The 2 ohm resistance and separate tweeters make all the difference in the the world! After redoing the Blaupunkt EQ I'm getting great sound at lower volume, and even more when I crank it! No breakup at all, and my car FINALLY has a soundstage! The flushmounts look great and it was easy putting it all together with theCrutchfield Master sheets. I can't imagine what this would sound like with an amp, but I'll find out next year because another set of these front and back are going in my new car.

The Sony system arrived two days later, returned it unopened to the local store. The tech had soldered caps onto the old speakers, I'm guessing he was trying to compensate for cutting splicing into the harness for the install. Just another reason to do it yourself with a little help from your friends!

If you're looking at these speakers, pull the trigger! A great deal at this price!

Infinity 6020CS in Porsche Boxster

Written By Dave S., Denver, CO on Sunday, May 24, 2009

I replaced my factory head unit with an Alpine IDA-X305 and run the speakers off an Alpine MRP-F300 amp. (50 watts per channel x 4). I added the Infinity 6020CS speakers to the doors running on the rear channel and added some 4 inch Alpines in the dash location running off the front channel(with high pass on).
All in all I like the way it turned out. These 6020CS speakers carry a ton of bass and provide decent sound. They seem a little light in mid-range, but the 4 inch Alpines cover that range pretty well. These Infinitys crank. The tweeters provide clear high's ( I have mine turned down -3db) and the mid-woofers provide fairly deep base. Not what you'd get from a true subwoofer, but better than I expected.

With the factory stereo and speakers I couldn't always tell what song was playing when driving on the highway with the top down. With this set up the music is loud and clear.

A crystal-clear winner from Infinity

Written By Charlie, Lafayette Indiana on Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We installed the Infinity Reference 6020cs to replace the front factory speakers in a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, installed Dynamat in the doors, and kept the factory head.
The sound felt a little bright, so we used the -db setting on the included crossover, and it worked like a charm. The result was full, rich, and very tight sound, with remarkable well defined bottom-end, and crisp, smooth, full highs.
The next step is to replace the factory head. We can't wait to see what that brings from these speakers. These speakers are a crystal-clear winner from Infinity.

Will not buy Infinity ever again

Written By Anonymous, Gaithersburg, MD on Saturday, May 16, 2009

I received these as a gift from my family and within three days of installing them one of the Tweeters blew out. It had been popping a little from day one. If this is an accurate indication of Infinity's quality I will never buy from them again.

Factory Upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Durango's come with Infinity from factory. These are a definite upgrade to the factory speakers.

The bad: only contained wires for 2 connections, not 4. Crutchfields speaker harness plugs do not match factory plugs and the mounting brackets don't work without mods.

The good: Infinity's mounting brackets fit factory mounts perfectly. Sound quality is good.... Kappa series is better of course.

Bottom line: quality upgrade to most any factory system. If this is in your price range... buy them!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Many reviewers complain that these speakers lack bass. They could not be more wrong.

Many bass problems come from head units and install problems. Check EQ settings and make sure there's no high pass filters. Do not purchase baffles- they will KILL your bass. Dynamat will help increase bass, too.

All speakers need time to break in. If the speakers lack bass, wait a week, things will change.

Unless there's something seriously wrong with your system, like the treble knob fell off, don't use the 3dB boost on the tweeter. I can't imagine why any sane person would boost the tweeter. Set it on -3dB.

So how does it sound? I usually recommend hearing a speaker before making a purchase decision, but not the case with Infinity. These speakers utilize technology seen on much pricier speakers. Polypropylene cones are great, don't be swayed otherwise- alot of other materials are mostly hype. The tweeters are top notch for this price range. On top of that, the speakers run at 2ohms, thus requiring less power to run. Very high sensivitivity too, the difference between 86dB and 93dB is night and day. This speaker is recommended especially for those using head unit power, many other speakers simply won't impress without an amplifier (COSTLY!). These speakers require very little juice to shine.

You will not find a better speaker at this price. Period.

i got these for my estended cab pickup, and they are super clear. i have the tweeters at -3db. i was hoping for some bass with the speakers, but i got none. i have my sony xplod head unit turned wayy down on bass to keep from bottoming out the speakers. 6x9's are soon to come.

the only other complaint i have is that some of my music files have really wierd highs. especially when the signger ends a word with an S. idk why but its almost painful its so previlent

Great for the price

Written By Sean, Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday, April 07, 2009

I could definitely notice a difference between these and my stock two-ways in my Forester. Had a little trouble mounting them because Subaru was stubborn in not wanting me to put in a component system, but had them installed in two hours. The highs are crisp and clear and the bass is great for a 6.5" woofer.

However, I recommend getting a two-channel amplifier to power these, as my headunit (DEH-4500MP) can't give these enough juice so they sound sloppy at 3/4th volume. These also won't compare to subwoofers, so I definitely recommend some if you want those low notes.

However, if you want a clear system that will make your music sound great, go with these.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have bought many speakers since high school. this is the first pair that was noticeably better then the stock ones they replaced. It is also my first set of "component" speakers. These replaced old factory 6.5" and the clarity and bass are better then my stock ones. Since I have a convertible with only 2 speakers I needed something good enough to overcome the wind and truck noise on the highway without sounding terrible. These were definitely worth the money.

I was disappointed in these speakers. Even with attenuation on the crossover, these were tinny sounding and seemed to drop the mid-range out quite a bit.

Overall, they sound good on the top end, and lose some bass and mid-range quality.

Nice low-cost speaker, but not for someone with a desire for good sound quality. I was warned in advance that they might sound this way, and purchased in lieu of that warning; wished I had listened and purchased a better speaker to start with. IMHO

Good speakers for the price. Clear sound. Tweeters are on the bright side
so if mounted about ear level attenuate the tweeter 3db at the crossover

may well say that with any 6 1/2" speaker.

I installed these Infinity components in my 2007 Honda S2000. With these speakers and a Cobalt CO300.2 amp, there is no need for rear speakers or a sub. They sound great and are reasonably priced. For my car, I set the tweets at -3db because they are located very close to my head and were a little too bright when I tried them in the flat position. Mounting was easy with the instructions from Crutchfield and some online help with door panel removal, etc. The x-overs are small enough to mount almost anywhere. You can't go wrong with these speakers.

Great advice from my Crutchfield advisor. These things sound wonderful in my '04 Xcab Z71. Plenty of bass and crisp highs. There were several different adapters included to mount the tweeters, but ended up drilling out the GM factory tweeter bracket with a hole saw and mounted the Infinity tweeters in it. I'm pushing these with a Sony 4 channel Xplode amp and running a 10" subwoofer with a Kicker amp. The entire system is run through an MTX RE-Q5 processor. Makes the factory unit sound like aftermarket gear.

I have used Crutchfield for over a decade. They have never let me down.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace stock infinity component set and all I can say is WOW!! These are great sounding speakers the tweeters are so clear and the 6 1/2 kicks out some medium bass as well. All hooked up to my stock stereo in 2001 Dodge Dakota. I would highly recommend this component to anyone. Also very easy install on Dodge Dakota just use the factor baffle from the 6 1/2 that was in the door before and you are all good.
Did have to mod the infinity tweeter location that is located in the door top corner with dremel to fit tweeter cup flush mount on door. Took whole 5 mins to open hole maybe 1/4" larger for tweeter cup. This does not ruin the door and the factory grill for the old tweeter still fits in place after mod.

I love these speakers. Very clean, detailed, bright but not shrill, and about the mids....wonderful mids if you do a little door work. I read all the reviews before I bought these. They were on sale for good price. Several of the reviews mentioned the lack of mids and others indicated that if you treated your doors properly with dynamat or similar that the mids were good. Well I thoroughly treated the inside skin of my front doors with dynamat and even did the edges of the speaker openings for the speaker mounts to settle against. WOW! The mids on these really came out nicely. I'm very satisfied with these.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was time to upgrade my stereo system in my 99 4 runner. Speakers are going to make the most differance in what is heard.

I had 6 1/2" coxials already with factory componet tweeters. I was looking at coxials again, but why? Might as well do the upgrade right and go with componets. (I have purchased 3 ways Infinities before from Crutchfield, and enjoy what I hear).

Somewhat time consuming wiring in the crossover being I could not mount them in the door.

Finally, ready to fire them up and I was impressed by the highs and mids that was coming out of those speakers. With the PioneerDEH p7000bt HU I bought , I had to for once crank them down.

The lows are not bone thumping, but that's not what I wanted anyway I get adequate bass when I turn it up IMO.

The dissappointing part, now I hear all the poor ripping I've done in the past years. You can hear the differance between low and high bit rate. I'm going to rip with a much higher rate now. It may take more storage, but storage is getting cheaper by the day.

These speakers have made a huge improvement.

Rely on Infinity

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You can simply rely on Infinity speakers to be solid, bright, clean, and gutsy. This set - component with tweeters and crossovers - was a first for me. I probably would have been pleased with several of my choices, but my previous positive experience with Infinity compelled me to lean their way. And when you order an Infinity product from Crutchfield, its as if you have acquired a personal assistant. The support, information, tips, suggestions, and accessories included in the package are overwhelming. So the installation was too easy and very clean. I will say that the moron who came up with that dongle with the screw terminals ought to be shot or sent to work for Legacy. Maybe that connection approach will work better for you. In any case, I have an older amplifier that is just inside the maximum power recommendation for these speakers and the system includes three other sets of speakers (one sub) and two other amplifiers. So they could be lost... or under-perform and not be conspicuous. But if you cock an ear their way you find them crisp, present and contributing where other quality speakers with responsibility for the same frequencies aren't keeping pace. You just won't regret this purchase. Do it and enjoy. And turn it up.

Great Speakers for the Money!

These speakers are great! They bring out more detail that my stock speakers. I have them powered through a Blaupunkt amp with about 75W per channel. Tweeter instal required a bit of fabrication/modification, but it turned out awsome! I highly recomend use of a sub with these to fill in the lows.

Some of the best speakers I have heard, easy install in my colly crew great highs and mids, now with this said "mids" while you have the door panel off get some sound deadner or what i did get some foil tape from hardware store and tape up all the holes two layers and wow theres your mid lows, big improvement over not doing this,

If your're shopping for car audio you can't beat Crutchfield, they may not have the best price but in product support, warranty issues (never had to use warranty) Old school customer service, you CAN NOT beat them.

Just installed these component speakers in my sierra pickup truck> together with a 4 Channel alpine amp and a pioneer head unit, i'm blown away to the quality of the sound from these speakers. I don't know what I was thinking using the factory setup for 2.5 years. Highly recommended and the price is really good!

An excellent choice for any enthusiast

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is an excellent system that holds to the Infinity reputation. I installed this set in both the front doors and rear deck of my Chrysler 300M running off the factory Infinity II system. They perform very well and exceeded my expectations.

I found the quality of the system and the installation hardware included to be higher than I anticipated. The installation instructions had good diagrams, but I would have appreciated some written instruction.

The sound is very clear, though the highs can be a little harsh. But they aren't shrill like some brands and it's nothing a little EQ tweak can't fix. I should state that I did not use the Infinity crossovers as my system has a crossover built into the factory amp. I found the sound quality much clearer and more defined than before.

Overall, if you're an audio enthusiast and want a pure(r) sound quality, then you can't get much better than Infinity.

Great Speakers but disappointed in Crutchfield

Written By NightHawk2g, Pottsville, PA on Monday, September 01, 2008

These speakers sound great when they are hooked up, if you are looking for bass they aren't going to be a good alternative to a woofer but they aren't bad, the high's sound clear and everything...I own a 99 Subaru Impreza L (sports Wagon) and i entered all this into the crutchfield car selector and they said that the item said that the speakers will fit the stock mounting brackets when they were no whee close, my stock brackets have three holes and these speakers have 4 screw right there they didn't work, i thought no big deal i will use infinity's ran into a problem here because these screw holes weren't long enough to reach the holes in my door so i had to razor them down quite a bit..when i had them in they were working and all until i put my window down, the window actually bent the connectors on the speakers because the speakers are too deep..

Once again lives up to its name

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have used infinity speakers in my last few vehicles. Choosing components for the front doors of my newly purchesed camaro was an easy choice. Installed very easy, not needing any of the adapters that came with the speakers.
Sound quality has been great. I am powering them with the front channels of my Profile AP740 amp, and they are taking the full wattage from it. No disortion, very clear mids and highs.

I will not hesitate to buy again, and recommend them to anyone. Truely a great speaker for the price.

The tweeters come with a large assortment of mounting options which may be healpful in some vehicles.

My only complant, and this is a small one, is I can't seem to figure a way to mount the crossover. Most people just stick them in the door anyway, but water exposure concerns me, so I prefer to mount them in the passenger compartment. THe old model was easily taken apart to screw to a panel, but these don't seem to be able to do that with out damaging the plastic. I may just be overcautious and will look into them some more.

i installed 2 pairs of this on my chevy van powered by a 4ch rockford amp (60w*a) i get a great souns specially since i have 4 12"inch kickers to compete against with my old speaker i couldnt hear over the bass and all the rattling now 2 sets of this infinitys and 4 6x9 kenwood this things is pure sound quality i strongly recomend this

Picked these up to go with my Kenwood head unit and installed them in the front doors of my 2001 Cherokee. The install was not as painful as I had anticipated, rather it was pretty easy, even installing the crossovers. As soon as I tested the first speaker I knew that it was going to sound awesome. After I got the second finished and tested it to make sure it worked, I turned it up and was amazed at the clarity and sound quality at even low levels.
The overall quality and clarity is amazing, good punch and presence in the low ranges. They're not tinny like some other comparable brands in the mid ranges, and the highs don't blow out your ears. Next is to pick up the rears and complete the set.
If you are into sound quality as much as I am and want a product that is going to do the job of providing you top notch sound quality and performance you cannot go wrong here.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these speakers at a great deal from the legendary Crutchfield. I installed these into the front doors and dash of my 01 Accord. I also threw in a pair of 693.7i Infinity Kappa 3-way 6 x 9's in the rear deck, with all four channels powered by a RF Punch P450.4 (60 W x 4). WOW! Considering I'm still using the stock in-dash disc changer, these things are incredible. Sound is very detailed, though as mentioned previously, can be slightly harsh in the high freqs. at the highest volumes. Fortunately, because these components sound so well, there is really no need to crank them that high, and with a little sub to balance, pure magic. So indulge, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed!

great speakers for the price

Written By Andrew, Boston, MA on Wednesday, July 16, 2008

I bought these speakers to replace my factory bose speakers in my 350z. My factory tweeter was not working anymore, so I decided to get a new speaker system. After searching for new speakers at various retail and online stores, I decided it was best to get them from crutchfield. Everything that is included with my purchase made installing these speakers so much easier than if I had bought them from my local retail store.
These speakers sound incredible. Highs play true, and even bass response was very good. At first, after installing these in the front doors, it sounded out of phase, because I was still using the factory rears with the factory bose sub. After installing the shallow 6 1/2 two ways, the sound is very balanced now. Incredible highs, and nice bass with these speakers with the factory sub. Didn't need to setup the tweeters at -3dbs as someone else suggested.
Would definitely recommend these speakers to other people, and definitely to order from crutchfield. From all the free accessories, to the master sheets, tech support, and even the competitive pricing, everything has proven invaluable in my purchase. Thanks for everything crutchfield.

excellent for high ambient noise

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a miata and the top never goes up...with just a head unit and a lot
of wind noise, I got these as they have very high sensitivity which leads to
a crisper sound with less power. They actually sound louder because of it.

Purchased these to replace a stock set up (it's an M miata so it had
components from the factory). Installation was tough -- the car's fault, not
the speakers' -- as I ended up having to drill and sand out the old tweeters
while keeping their grilles intact (gotta love the Dremmel). I then used
silicone to glue the new ones in, which also allowed me to orient them to
where my ears are. I had planned on 2 hours to install and took 5 -- but it
looks completely stock, which in an open car is important to not draw
attention to itself. It's actaully a shame to hide them on a certain level --
the build quality on these things is excellent and they are beautiful.

Sound is very, very good and very precise. Top down at 60 I can hear music
cleanly. Bass is limited because of the size of the woofers and sounds less
prominent because the treble is so stunning (even on the lower setting,
which per previous reviewers I would recommend).

Crutchfield as usual was awesome. There was part of the order missing --
one quick call and it was on my doorstep the next morning. Class act as

They are can get really loud, sound quality is great at low to mid volumes,
however at high volumes the highs can be a little on the harsh side. As a
previous review noted they work well with a sub.

There is no doubt better units, although little to none in this price range
that can handle this much power. Consider pairing with a head unit with a
good range of EQ settings to help balance the highs.

WOW!!! These things are loud. Paired with the infinity 6-1/2 shallow mounts in the back, and 1 10" infinity sub in the trunk of my 2000 jimmy, I've never heard a system that plays so loud. these speakers are phenomenol, blow away any components in this price range. They crank out so much power with the low impedance, and the tweeters are so precise, so crisp and clean. These really are worth it. excellent buy.

Product Research

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Intermount III: Infinity's Intermount III mounting system allows the 6020cs woofers to fit in 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications. A metal adapter ring is included with each woofer for certain 6-1/2" applications and a plastic adapter ring for each speaker is included for 6-3/4" applications.

Tweeter Material: Each 1" tweeter uses an edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount adapter and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the flush-mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Surface Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Bottom Mount (to grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Flush Mount (in-dash location): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the dash. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
