I planned to replace the head unit as well. These were such an improvement that I am not going to replace the head unit! They ound great. A litle lacking in bass, but I expected that. There is a switch on the speaker to boost the treble 3DB. I used this for the front speakers, and (to my surprise) it made a great deal of differance. Granted I'm using the OEM head unit with no additional amp. But even with the stock stereos bass turned all the way up to max, there's barely a hint of any low end there. And I don't listen to rap or R&B, I'm a metal-head straight out of the '90's and these things can't keep up with that :( Linkin Park and Ramstein are at a loss...
