Our take on the Infinity Reference 6030cs

Hear what you've been missing with these Infinity Reference component speakers. You'll hear subtle nuances and little details in your music that you may never have noticed before, as these speakers fill your car with bold, radiant sound.

The Reference 6030cs system features low-impedance 6-3/4" woofers, designed to extract maximum power safely from any amplifier or car stereo. Infinity uses oversized rubber surrounds to increase woofer cone area up to 30 percent over other speakers of the same size category. As a result, you'll enjoy efficient, increased bass output.

Mount the soft dome tweeters with a clear shot to your ears, and listen as a whole new world opens up in the tight confines of your car. Infinity includes its unique Starfish™ mounting brackets, so you can install the tweeters in a variety of factory speaker openings.

External crossovers direct the high and low notes to the proper speakers for great clarity and high efficiency. You can adjust the tweeter level for best performance in your vehicle. Let Infinity Reference components help you rediscover the fun of listening to music in your car.

Important Note: These Infinity Reference speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with virtually all factory and aftermarket stereos.

Woofers
Tweeters
Crossovers

Woofers

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Applications: Infinity's mounting system allows the speaker to fit in 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications. Plastic adapter rings are included for each speaker.

Tweeters

Tweeter Material: Each 1" tweeter uses an edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount adapter and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the flush-mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Surface Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Bottom Mount (to grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Flush Mount (in-dash location): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the dash. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

2-Way Crossovers: These speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers. Each crossover features an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz high-pass network for the tweeter and an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz low-pass network for the woofer.

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The tweeter level may be set to "+3 dB" or "0 dB."

Crossover Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are gold-plated screw terminals.

Crossover Dimensions: W = 3.475", H = 1.1875", D = 4.5625"

Ear-Piercing Highs

Written By cM, Houston, Tx on Monday, January 09, 2012

I have Infinity 6030cs in the front and Alpine Type-R's in the rear powered by a mf300 Alpine amplifier. The Type R's sound 10 times better than the Infinity 6030cs. About to replace them and have Type R's all around. They provide more bass and clearer mids and highs. Definitely worth the extra money
Pros:
Overall good clarity. Really brings your music to life.
Cons:
At mid/high volumes, the highs will make your ears bleed.

infinity component speakers

Written By Jim G, Houston, TX on Sunday, January 01, 2012

The clarity of the sound is fantastic paired with the JL audio amplifier and alpine head unit I used with the system. I knew these were bright speakers and chose the neutral setting on the crossover as well as a setting of zero for treble on the head unit. The speakers coupled with the JL audio 10" sub I used in a sealed enclosure powered by an Alpine amp complements the component speakers very well.
Pros:
price, oversized speaker design
Cons:
Nothing

i love infinity

Written By 2002-dxsedan, kelowna, bc on Tuesday, August 16, 2011

this is the first set of components i've purchased and i'm very happy! i installed these into my '02 honda es1 after blowing the factory ones. i have them powered by an alpine 3553 4-channel and 2 walmart co-axials in the rear. like many have stated before me, they don't produce the best lows, probably because they are for mids and highs. i have 2 infinity reference 311a's powering 2 audiobahn aw122t in a sealed box. after i installed the woofers in the factory spot in the doors i cut holes in the door panels for the tweeters. instalation was a breeze except for hiding the crossovers, that was the hardest part.

Excellent imaging/definition - 2010 Evo X

Written By IJC, San Francisco, CA on Monday, August 01, 2011

The base factory stereo system in the 2010 Mitsubishi Evolution is flat-sounding and just plain bad. I added an Alpine CDA-105 head unit, the Alpine Power Pack mini-amp, and these speakers to the car. The difference is like night and day - wow! Finally I can hear the nuances of the music I listen to. No longer did it sound flat and uninspired. Now it sounds bright and vibrant. I will recommend using these speakers with an amplifier though. Without an amp, you may not get the performance the speakers were designed for.

Not Bad At All

Written By Bradical, Denver, CO on Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I had great stock speakers in my truck (components), but they don't even
compare to these. The clarity is absolutely amazing and I can hear sounds I
didn't even know were there.

Unfortunately, the low end is not very good at all. You really have to get used to
how overpowering the high end frequencies are. I don't really have room for a
sub in my truck, so I'm a little disappointed they don't produce very much bass
at all.

Nice but pricey

Written By Arant, Saint Matthews, SC on Friday, March 18, 2011

I have this set in my 09 Lancer Ralliart. Blows the stock system out the water. I
must say though that I don't have them hooked to an amp so they are getting
juice from the headunit. I'm sure if I amped them they would sound a lot more
clear. For the most part though they are really nice and I'm glad I have them.
They are a little pricey and you can probably get the regular Infinity 6 3/4'' mids
and then buy a set of tweeters for cheaper. I have Infinity speakers all the way
around including subs and amp. You can't go wrong.

Infinity Reference 6030cs

Written By rtw, Salt Lake on Tuesday, February 01, 2011

These speakers are just OK for the price. I got them for my Toyota Tacoma because they
would fit in the front door (with tweeters installed flush in the panel). I installed the Infinity
Kappa 60.9 in the back, and the Kappa's are way better, well worth the extra money. I would
have installed those in the front if they would have fit.

Very clear sounding speakers

Written By Michael, Akron,OH on Saturday, January 22, 2011

I have a set of these in the kick panels of my S-10 reg. cab. The rest of my
speakers, with the exception of the dash (4 X 6 Boston Acoustics) are Infinity.
I have a set of Ref. Coaxials in the door along with 2 separate sets of
Reference tweeters, one wired in line with the door speakers, mounted right
above the speaker, another set in the sail panel, powered by the head unit.
With the Alpine 40 X 4 (50 X 4 at 2ohm) amp powering the components and door
speakers and having a Kicker 12 inch CompVT, powered by an Alpine 400 X 1 amp.
all I can say is that the whole system sounds loud and clear. No matter how
hard you run the system, it just gets louder and louder, no distortion. (Out of
a top volume level of 35, I can get to about 32) Even though I'd like to run
more power through the components, they sound loud with just the 50. I would
recommend them to anyone who's looking for a great sounding system. I'm sure
you can spend more, but just how much better will those speakers sound? I'm
sure these will suit anyone who's not looking for a competition type system and
even some who are. I get stares everywhere I go, not bad ones either, usually
curious ones. I know many with the window rattling systems who get dirty looks!
You can't go wrong with the mounts for the tweeters, they get many compliments
and look fantastic. I'll never own another car without Kick panel speaker
mounts as well; makes a big difference.

Infinity Reference 6030cs

Written By JeremyS, Seattle,WA on Friday, December 31, 2010

These were installed in my 2005 Dodge Dakota. This were a night and day difference
over my factory speakers. It was great that they came with the brackets because the
factory speakers are 6 3/4 while these are 6 1/2. Fairly easy to install, but harder
because i cut a whole approximately 1.5 inches big for the tweeters to be recessed in the
doors. But i do believe that you can screw them on instead of recessing them, but it
looks more "factory" when recessed in to the door. With average after-market speakers,
you don't have a crossover or a separate tweeter, which is this was little bit harder to do.
With the provided instructions that are vehicle specific, and the wiring harness made it
easier. It sounded great. I only wish that they highs were not not overpowering, which i
would rather have a little bit more bass. But thats what my subwoofers are for anyways.
This is a great product.

Good Deal

Written By David, Oklahoma on Friday, December 03, 2010

I got these for $139. It was a good deal especially with the free brackets (a $20 value)
for my truck and the factory wiring harness plus free shipping. The deal was great and
shipping was fast. I have a 2010 tundra and they sound good. They are not the best
component system i ever heard but you can pay more and get a better system but you
could do worse. Overall i rated a 4 star because for what you pay you get what you
should expect. They sound good. Good deal if you just want a better speaker system to
replace the factory cheap speakers like i was doing. I was not making a competition
system, just a upgrade so that the music will sound better and these will do that. Good
buy if you want a upgrade.
