Infinity Kappa speakers incorporate the latest technology to provide you with outstanding sound reproduction. And, thanks to Infinity's innovative low-impedance design, they're built for high efficiency as well.

The Kappa 682.7 6"x8" speaker features a super-stiff woofer cone to minimize flexing that can cause distortion. The Plus One cone offers a larger surface area than other 6"x8" speakers, for improved bass output and efficiency. The woofer's powerful, compact neodymium magnets weigh much less than traditional magnets — a nice feature when you're trying to save weight in your high-performance vehicle.

Infinity uses the same type of tweeter found in many of their popular home speakers, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded, with minimal coloration or distortion. The tweeter also pivots, so you can adjust its output for a perfect stereo image.

The computer-optimized outboard crossover employs audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows so that the woofer and tweeter work together perfectly. A tweeter level control allows you to tailor the tweeter's response for perfect balance. Grilles are not included. (Factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.)

Important Note: These Infinity speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with all factory and aftermarket stereos.

Best Speakers Money Can Buy!!!

Written By kryptonite2009, Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, August 05, 2009

I purchased 2 sets of these speakers for a custom install in an 1985 oldsmobile cutlass sedan. I got an alpine iva-c800 head unit, alpine era-g320 digital equalizer, infinity kappa 4-inch and 5-1/4 speakers on a dhd ntx-2004 4- channel amp, infinity kappa 682.7cf speakers on a 4-channel amp, kicker solo-baric L7 subs on a 3000-watt mono blockamp, sony xec-1000 crossover, capacitor and an extra battery powering the system. When i say that the 682.7cf perform, they do. I had speakers throughout the car at first but it just didnt put out the clarity i wanted. So,i upgraded to infinity's and now it sounds clear and the bass doesnt drown them out! So i recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to get the best sound for a good price!!

Excellent Speakers!

I have a pair of these speakers installed in the front of my Ford Focus ZX5 and they sound AMAZING! Excellent product and simply the best service from Crutchfield. Instructions and wire harnesses from Crutchfield were perfect! Note, however, that these speakers come with external crossovers (one for each speaker) that need to be mounted.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two pair of these bad boys and installed them with Dynamat (inside and out) in my 05 Expedition. I have to say, powered only off of the stock head unit, my sound system sounds better then some systems I have heard that cost thousands more than mine. The clarity and balance of sound far exceeds what I would have expected for the money. The crew at Crutchfield were very helpful in steering me the right way, I had planned on spending $500 or so and got talked out of it, thanks. I look forward to buying more audio gear from these guys.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a pair of these speakers for my rear deck and the install was a breeze. They sound great with my aftermarket head unit and I am quite satisfied for how much I paid for them. I heard the newer model has a mounting hole for the crossover for secure installation. This one is just flat and would just hang. But that flat surface is more than enough surface area to hot glue/tape to another flat surface in the trunk. Bottom line, for mid-ranged-price speakers, they are the best for any basic system.

I have 4 of these speakers hooked up in my 2001 F-150 Supercrew,
running off a profile AP740 amp, and connected to my alpine 9886 head
unit. I was expecting a little more bass from them, but besides that, you
can play them VERY loud. great to have for tailgating to crank the tunes
when your outside the car! I eventually ended up buying a bazooka 8200
tube to get the low notes that the infinitys were not producing, and my
system now sounds GREAT. with the price for
these speakers, you cant beat it!

Great Speakers

Written By Chris, Lafayette, LA on Tuesday, June 03, 2008

I installed these in the doors and back deck of my 2006 Mustang GT, connected them to my CDA-9885, and all I can say is WOW.

The only negatives I encountered is that a few tabs had to be bent to get them to fit in the factory door locations and you need to find a place to hide the crossover in the door panel. These are tons better than the Mach speakers that were originally in the doors

Just wanted to say thanks again for the advice. The Infinity Kappa 682.7 cf speakers worked out great in my 1997 F150 Lariat Supercab. They sound great and I am a very happy camper!

Ordered a pair of the Infinity Kappa 682.7CF installed them in my 2006 ford mustang gt with out any problems. I am powering them with an JL audio 300/2 and all I can say is they ARE WAY to bright, they do not have any fill what so ever the low part of the mid is missing and the highs are way over powering. I have been is car audio for years I have never been an infinity fan now I no why that is. I would NOT recommend these speakers to any one who wants to have a full sounding sound stage.

Very disappointed

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put 4 of these in my E150 coversion van and 2 of the 6x9's as well.
I have it matched only to an old Alpine CDA-7864 AM/FM/CD. For starters, these play loud. They use half the power compared to my old stock speakers. Clean, crisp and accurate is how they sound. I was surprised by the amount of bass that they put out, however, with just the head unit, they start to distort anywhere past half way on my volume control. For better punch, I added a 1000 watt mono amp and Pioneer 12 inch shallow depth subwoofer. Then adjusted my high and low pass filters and the system ROCKS. With this set up, I get the perfect combination of sound without the rattle often associated with louder systems that actually shake various parts of the vehicle. I may add another amp for a cleaner sound, not necessarily for more volume.....everyone says, "turn it down", the way it is. These are by far the best, most accurate sounding speakers I have ever heard in a car.....almost on a par with my home system. One other note, I will probably use the marine version of these speakers when I upgrade the system on my boat.....for the money, I don't think I can find anything that sounds as good as these.

Great sound!

I purchsed 4 of these for my '04 F150 Extended cab and powered them with a 4 channel Alpine amp and a Pioneer head unit. They sound great! Nice clear mids and highs. For the most part they're a great deal but if you really want some thumping bass expect to need a subwoofer. Over all though these are great for the price.

Best Speakers Ever!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can't say enough about these speakers. Incredible throughout the entire range. Installed in a 2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD, linked to Kenwood KVT-817DVD. The external crossover makes things a little complicated to install, but if you have a space a little bigger than a contact lens case to spare, you will be fine. It takes me 15 minutes longer to get to work now because I love these speakers so much, I never want to leave my car! All thanks to the Crutchfield team!

Written By Patrick, San Antonio, TX on Saturday, March 08, 2008

I have four of these in my 2006 F150 Supercrew. Very easy install with
crutchfield's master sheets, took me less than an hour. Incredible highs, so
crisp and clean, almost too much. Very punchy lows, but will need a woofer
if you like rap or anything really bassy (I have a Rockford P3sd212 for that
duty) These speakers crave for an amp though so I would amp them for the
best sound. I have an Infinity 4 channel pushing mine, very, very good. 5
stars all around.

Just Short

Written By Calvin, Largo, MD on Sunday, March 02, 2008

This is the first time I've purchased Infinity speakers. So far the experience is okay, not quite what I imagined them to be. The mid and high range has a beautiful sound. However, if you're looking for a full rich sound, you better plan on using an amp and subwoofer with these. The bass has a good punch, but can't reproduce the low frequency that's needed to really enjoy the music. I've been desparately tuning and tinkering with my Profile AP1040 amp trying to get the best possible sound that I can without the subwoofer. Needless to say, I'm looking for a good complimentary powered sub right now.

No amp and still amazing

Written By Ryan, Kingsport, TN on Saturday, December 29, 2007

I just recently got these speakers put in my '04 Mazda3 and they are taken reign over my previous stocks. I got two sets of these along with the Infinity Kappa Tweeters as well. I was planning on buying an amp before hearing the speakers running off of the stock head unit, but I believe I've changed my mind. I don't listen to my music incredibly loud, so my current set-up seems to working in my favor. I did however decide to step up the bass by installing a simple Bazooka 8" Tube as my subwoofer and it contributes to all the low end I need, with the speakers providing all of the bass clarity I need. However, the only thing I'm a bit concerned about are the mids, but I plan on adjusting the "+3db" setting on the actual speaker and pivoting the tweeters up a bit. Otherwise, they sound amazing and I wouldn't have thought about buying any other speakers. Infinity is the way to go!

Loud but no bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace some older Sony Xplod 3-ways. I was thinking that I would get more power and at least the same amount of bass from these. Unfortunately, when the bass hits with these, there's a pretty ugly distorted/vibrating sound accompanying the loud mids and highs. If I keep the filter above 80hz, everything's fine, but with such a small low range, A SUB IS REQUIRED with these speakers. If you're not planing on using subs, DON'T PLAN ON HAVING BASS WITH THESE SPEAKERS ALONE.

FYI I have a 600W 4-ch amp to the interiors and there's still no bass.

They do sound OK with my 10's, but they're still not as crisp as my old Sony Xplods. If you can find a sony xplod with a wider range, deeper bass, and comparable power handling, I'd go with these because they never lead me wrong (until they blew up - that's why you need the bigger power handling).

I really believe Infinity should give you some warning. I have 4 of these powered by a 100x 4 rms ALpine amp. I have had these for a week and I really believe I am losing my hearing. These speakers are deafining. I cant even turn them up all the way inside my car. I have to stand 15 ft away from my car with the remote to turn them up all the way. They are crystal clear sounding at any level. But this is the first time i think i'll say speakers are too loud. Nothing like I've ever heard compares.
Nice job Infinity and ALpine. Best money I've ever spent~

I purchased these as factory replacements in my Mercury Mariner, the self install a little more then I realized because of the external crossover, but it went smoothly
the instructions from Crutchfield were very precise.
The sound, after adjusting the tweeter it was the difference of night and day (from factory)I could hear real highs, and the midrange is solid. I am not done with my system so I will report again later.
But for now I give them 4 of 5 stars!!

These speakers are awsome. If you buy these you will not be disapointed. They are a little more work to install because of the external passive crossovers, but the end result is well worth it.

These speakers like power, so you are going to need a small amp. I would not recomend running them off your factory head unit.

These are very good speakers

Written By Michael, Santa Rosa, Ca on Sunday, March 11, 2007

I bought these along with a Pioneer 4700 deck to put in my 2000 Expedition. I put in the head unit first, and it helped the sound of the factory speakers, but I was jonesing to put in these speakers. Thanks to the great instructions from Cructhfield, it was a pretty short job to get them in all four doors. The magnets are at least twice the size of the factory speakers, and the aimable tweeter is nice. The sound is incredible compared to the factory speakers. Very clear mid and highs, with surprizing bass from just the head unit powering. These speakers are just screaming "Give me an amp!", so I am hoping to get a decent amp in the next couple months to do them justice, and get the true bass these are capable of out of them (I also plan on a sub set up). As a side note, I had my Pioneer deck ripped off, and got an Eclipse 3000, so that has my wanting an amp even more because of the 5V pre outs and lower output of the Eclipse. The speakers still sound great, but you can tell they want you to give them some juice (plus it's a 6"X8" that will handle 100 watts RMS, that's impressive!).

I've had these in my car for a couple months now and I have to say they are the loudest speakers I've owned. It's surprising how much treble can come out of a 2-way speaker. I used to own a pair of 4-way Poineers and I thought they were loud, but these have to be pretty comparable. The 2 ohm setup makes it easy to give them a lot of power from an external amplifier.

These are hooked up to a JBL CS50.4 Amplifier that puts out 82w RMS x 4 channels in a 2 ohm load. It seems to be more than enough to push these to the max. My ears will start ringing before I can hear distortion and outside the car, I just hear clear vocals and balanced sound (bass is enhanced by 2 12" Infinity Reference subs). Nice, clean, balanced sound system. Great addition to my car.

As far as bass goes, they do sound decent w/ my subs turned off and the crossover set to full range. They vibrate my doors quite badly but the sound is rich. Again, they are amplified, but w/ out subwoofers, they would be a good purchase anyways for full sound (if I fixed my door rattles that is) :P

Just put these into my 04 f150 extended cab. The sound is excellent with my JVC KD-G820. I can't say enough about Crutchfield's service. It is perfect. Just ordered a Profile AP740 amp to step up the base. If you don't want to mess with an amp don't get these.

Best deal for this size speaker out there.

Written By Thomas, Seattle, WA on Saturday, December 02, 2006

I put a pair of these in the doors of my '93 Ranger. I run straight off the deck, and these things sound incredible. The speakers in the rear are still the stock ones, although I did make a custom, "down-firing" sub box for an 8" sub, hooked to a 120watt amp, and it's more than adequate for that amount of space.

I did aim the tweets down just a bit as not to put myself in the "sonic apex" of them. It's happend before, and nothing ruins a good listen like a note that makes you squint.

For the $$$, these are the best speakers on the market.

Although, I can't understand why some people put these in the rear location, since you can't really hear the highs when they are coming from behind.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

On my 99 grand marquis, the instillation was nothing, but the speakers didn't come with a foam ring to stop the speaker from vibrating so the sound was very bad, I quickly bought some 10x10 Dynamat sound dampeners and now the base is much better, the tweeters are very powerful and I had to turn my treble from a +3 to a -4 as compared to the factory speakers. The highs and mids are excellent and the lows are very good, not as clean as I would like but I'm sure with an amp that would be solved, my head unit is around 13 watts. I wouldn't be happier with any other speakers and I would recommend these to anyone, the price is right, you get more than what you pay for. They over power my front Boston Acoustics that where about the same price 4 years ago, you can't go wrong with infinity.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Even though I have a 2005 Mustang GT with a Shaker 1000 system, it was time to upgrade the speakers...

Purchased a pair of Infinity Kappa 682.7cf speakers for the back deck... Installation was super easy with the help of the Ford OEM plug which I got with the speakers...

System has plenty of bass but the highs were just not high enough... These speakers proved that the real sound of the music that I listen to was not getting reproduced with the factory speakers... The Infinity Kappa 682.7 cf proved to be a great powerful addition with excellent highs and mid-range tones...

Now I think I'll also replace the door speakers with the same speakers and have a much more pleasing system while keeping the head unit and sub-whoffers...

Thanks to Crutchfield for making a great sound system even better...

I installed these speakers as a replacement for the stock rear door speakers in my '97 Expedition. The installation was a breeze, thanks to Crutchfield's master sheets and wiring adapters. The sould quality over the stock speakers was instantly improved. The pivoting tweeter makes it so easy to position them for the best sound. As stated in previous posts, the crossovers had to be zip tied to an existing wire harness to prevent them from rattling in the door. The improvement over the stock speakers is awesome. I listen to mainly country music but like to blow it out now and then with some classic rock. The highs and midrange clarity of these speakers are impressive. You could not go wrong with these. Thanks Crutchfield for making the entire process so easy and effortless.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in the stock locations in the rear doors of my '03 SuperCrew in about one hour. I immediately noticed the big difference even with the stock head-unit of my Ford. I couldn't believe and still can't, the amount of bass these things put out as evidenced in Pink Floyd's, The Division Bell. You can't feel the bass, but sure does sound good. I installed the crossovers in the door panel with wide VelCro; easy. The highs are super clear and sound awesome. Infinity speakers are the best. Thanks to Crutchfield for the free wiring and perfect MasterSheet! Everything has been a breeze. Thanks.

Great Speakers

Written By Lost Evolution, Keller, Texas on Saturday, December 03, 2005

When I was in high school and college, I changed out speakers in all my cars. It was easy; just look for all the screws until the panels were loose. Today the cars are more complex with clips and having to know which way to push a panel to expose the screw. But with Crutchfield's installation guide it was extremely easy and took just over 2 hours to install 4 speakers in the doors of my 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew (less than 2 hours if I would not have soldered the crossover splices).

The F-150 King Ranch came with a premium stereo, granted it was not the factory Bose component system I have in my 300ZX, nor is the interior acoustical design comparable to a 2 seat sports car, but it sounded very good for a 4 door truck. Recently a speaker went out, and I purchased 4 of these Infinities on 11/20. They are a huge upgrade from the 25 watt factory speakers with a whizzer cone. Though I'm not an expert, there is no mistaking them for the clarity and base from my (brand removed) DX-9 home stereo speakers with 15" woofers, but the base is an upgrade from the factory speakers. The tweeters are directional which is really cool, and they have a 3db adjustment, but I found they are a bit "hissy" with the factory radio and sound better at 0db.

The only issue, the speakers have an external crossover component to inline with the wiring you will need to secure or listen to it rattle, but I zip tied them to the wires on the inside of the door panels, and seems to work fine (there are holes in the crossovers for zip ties).

Still, the clarity is an incredible improvement over the factory speakers, and overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

Synthetic sound

Written By 2005f250diesel, Cincy, Ohio on Monday, November 21, 2005

First off I am from the old school of audio files and I have top-notch gear in my house and I can appreciate the same in my vehicles. With a friends recommendation I tried these speakers and here is what I think:

I purchased four of these for my 2005 F-250 Superduty Crewcab Diesel and I have to say they are nice speakers but the "woven-glass-fiber" driver doesn't give you the sound of a high quality paper woofer. It is punchy yes, but it lacks deeply in the low end. The tweeters are a bit tinty sounding and again have a tendency to reproduce the music less than natural and more with a synthetic sound. To get car audio to be at the same quality as in the home is very tough without spending a years worth of paychecks. All in all I gave these speakers 4 stars because they work nicely in my vehicle. My only suggestion is you have a subwoofer (doesn't have to be huge see my Kenwood "KSC-SW1" review) to round out the lows. You can adjust the tweeters -3db that is kind of cool. If I would have done it again I would keep these in the rear of the vehicle and install separates up front to most likely something from Polk Audio, which would allow better sound separation/staging up front.

These speakers are amazing!!! I'm 37 years old and this is the 7th vehicle I've installed a system in. I've owned many different speakers from Pioneer to MB Quartz, and I have to say these are, by far, the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. I have these in the back(2003 Toyota Tacoma)with a kenwood 75 watt RMS amp and the kappa 6x8 component in front with a kenwood 95 watt RMS and a 10" powered bazooka. The highs are crystal clear and the bass and mids are perfectly matched, even at high volumes. These are well worth the money. I've paid twice as much for MB Quartz that were equal in the mids and highs, but don't even come close in bass.

Excellent Value

I just installed these speakers after installing a Kenwood EZ 700 SR headunit. I have got to say that these speakers are OUTSTANDING!!! I was originally planning to install an Infinity BassLink, but these speakers put out just the right amount of bass for me. There are crisp highs, deep lows, and they can handle it when you crank up the tunes. Installation was a breeze, all in all, great value and great sound out of these speakers. Highly recommended!

Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: This woven-glass-fiber material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.

Motor Structure: The new Kappas use a Neodymium motor structure with an integrated heat sink. This design provides a massive amount of energy while minimizing mounting depth and magnet diameter. The integrated heat sink cools the motor structure efficiently, thus increasing power handling while reducing distortion.

Edge Driven MMD Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an Edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome tweeter. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer. The tweeter has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and +3 dB.

UniPivot Tweeter: The tweeter is angled and can be rotated about 270° after installation. This allows you to direct the tweeters toward the listeners, very useful for speakers mounted low in a door.

SLIT High-Output Design: This high output 2 ohm design extracts every watt from today's amplifiers and hi powered receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers).

Crossovers: Kappa speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers, using audiophile quality air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors.

Crossover Connections: Each crossover has a 12" input lead terminated with bare wire and two 19" output leads, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter, terminated with female quick-slides. The female quick-slides connect to the male quick-slides on the speaker. The positive terminal on the woofer is 0.248" and the negative is 0.191". The positive terminal on the tweeter is 0.205" and the negative is 0.111".

Crossover Dimensions: L=4.328", W=2.081", H=1.215"
