Our take on the Infinity Reference 6832cf

by Buck Pomerantz
Infinity

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Rely on Infinity to revitalize the sound in your car. Replace your tired-out, old factory speakers with Reference Series full-range speakers that'll play your music louder and better.

Infinity Reference 6832cf 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers feature a Plus One+ woofer design that maximizes cone surface area so you enjoy richer, deeper lows. Large textile dome tweeters project smooth, clean highs, and their large voice coils in the tweeters allow for high power-handling. They're equipped with a level control so you can fine-tune the degree of brightness to match your taste. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Important Note: These Infinity Reference speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with virtually all factory and aftermarket stereos.

Installation Note: These Infinity speakers do not include screws or speed clips. You may be able to use the factory screws to install them, but it's always a good idea to have an assortment of self-tapping screws (5/8" to 1") and speed-clips on hand.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Textile Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses an edge-driven textile dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot design allows the tweeter to be pointed at the listeners location even when the speaker is mounted off axis. This optimizes the stereo image and ensures a more uniform response. The tweeter housing can be turned approximately 315 degrees.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output 3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

Mounting: Infinity's mounting system allows the 6832cf speakers to fit in 6" x 8" and 5" x 7" applications.

No Grilles: The speakers do not come with grilles. They are designed as a replacement for OEM speakers, utilizing the factory grilles.

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 2.0-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected headunit or amplifier.

Everything comes just as you order it and the installation is mapped out for you! I contacted the Technical Support just to confirm something and they were more than willing to make sure everything was taken care of and made sure I understood everything before disconnecting. I will definitely buy these speakers for another vehicle. The sound that they put out is awesome, this is my first set of infinity speakers and I wonder why I didn't invest in them sooner.

Awesome! Not at first though! Read on...

Written By Garrett, Atlanta, GA on Thursday, November 14, 2013

I put these in a 2003 tacoma double cab. I had to trim the plastic "housing" that the speakers sit in to make room for the larger size of these speakers over the stock ones. I was pretty disappointed with these speakers at first when powered by the stock head unit. I really could not tell a difference over stock speakers. Then I installed a Sony mex-gs600bt head unit and the speakers sounded a little better...but still no bass or low end sound to speak of. Then I installed an Alpine 5 channel 600 watt amp. Now the speakers had 50rms going to each one and they got ear drum shattering loud and clear, but I was still disappointed with the low end performance. It was like the speakers were all treble. THEN. The moment that changed everything...I turned "Loudness" on in my head unit settings. Wow! The speakers really came to life!! Finally had the little bump I was looking for. Then I installed a Kicker CompRT 8 inch sub woofer and all I can say is WOW!!!! My truck now sounds 20% better than any high end Lexus with Mark Levinson system, Audi with Bose, Range Rover with Harman Kardon, or any other "premium" factory stereo you can think of. This system truely sounds outstanding and it feels like I'm at a concert every time I get in my truck.
Pros:
Quality, Price, Clarity, Loudness, Flexibility
Cons:
Need an amplifier to really gain anything over a stock stereo, but this is true for all speakers. Stock stereos don't put out enough power to really feel the difference these speakers will make.

A very nice upgrade from stock

Written By Jason K., Atlanta, GA on Friday, November 08, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT and was immediately disappointed with the stock stereo and sound. Coming from a long run of VW's, which always had decent stock systems for me, I felt like I had gone back in time. I knew I did not want to swap out the headunit to keep things simple, but the speakers had to go. I stopped by a local stereo shop and was given a quote of over $1500 to install new speakers, an amp, and a custom sub. I really was not ready to invest that amount of money so I came over to Crutchfield and after a nice online chat with a rep named Wes, decided I would start with these. The hardest part of the installation was removing the first door (there were no master sheets for the 2013's but the 2012 worked for me), after that it was all plug and play. I had the whole truck put back together in about an hour. The change was immediately noticeable, music had much better highs and depth. I did not expect heavy bass with a door installation but there is some low end. I set all of the tweeters to a +3dB to compensate for the low level in the door and so far, so good. I may invest in a sub in the future but for now I am very happy with the upgrade.
Pros:
easy to install, great highs, a HUGE improvement over stock.
Cons:
a little lacking on the low end but it was expected.

Great Value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The rotating tweeter and +3db tweeter boost switch really helped the sound in my F150. The speakers are located in the lower doors and these features really helped bring the sound stage upwards toward my ear. Another awesome feature is that they are 2 ohm and when coupled with the Helix PP50DSP set to 50 watts at 2 ohm instead of 35 at 4 ohm, these sound VERY CLEAR and get loud enough to make your ears bleed. Awesome value for the price.
Pros:
Price Clarity Directional Tweeter +3db tweeter boost 2 ohm

Great Speakers For 2013 Ford F150 XLT

Written By JMC from NY, Commack, NY on Sunday, September 22, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having a Bose System in a GMC Sierra, the Ford MyTouch in my 2013 F150 XLT Supercab was a bit of a disappointment. I replaced the speakers in all four doors and what a difference !!!!! They sound great, vast improvement over stock. Just make sure you face the speaker connections in the front doors toward the front of the vehicle or you will encounter interference with the window regulator. Infinity makes a great product.
Pros:
Highly recommend, Crutchfield is best out there

Oh Yeah

Written By Creek Jack, Moorefield, WV on Tuesday, September 17, 2013

I replaced the stock speakers in my 2008 Ranger with these babies. Wow, what a difference they made, being driven by a Ford head unit. The muddy base stopped, and the midrange and highs are so much clearer. Then I swapped the Ford unit for a Sony Xplod (also from Crutchfield.) The sound is AWSOME in my Ranger. I am seriously considering another pair of these speakers in the back of the cab. Long trips to Ft. Bragg will no longer be such a drudge!
Pros:
Price, Sound, and ease of installation
Cons:
nothing comes to mind at this time.

Infinity 6832cf car speakers

Written By Daddo, Cincinnati area on Saturday, September 14, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased to replace 2013 Ford Taurus factory speakers. These speakers are efficient enough to be driven by the standard factory amp unit, provide excellent full range reproduction and very noticeable improvement in both and treble response. Crutchfield supplied the necessary pigtails for direct connection to the factory plugs. The speakers fit into the Taurus' sockets with no additional hardware or modification needed. I am extremely pleased with this product, and highly recommend for those that are not satisfied with the poor sound system performance in their vehicle without the need for expensive amp or woofer installations.
Pros:
Full range frequency response High efficiency Improve bass and treble reproduction Works exactly as advertised

Great Speakers

Written By Tim from Wimberley, Wimberley, TX on Wednesday, August 28, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were a vast improvement over the stock speakers that came with my 2013 Mustang. I replaced both front and rear. I did not replace the stock radio, but the sound is excellent from these speakers. Doing it myself with the included Crutchfield instructions was much easier that I thought it would be, and it saved me up to $150 on installation at a local shop. The free wiring harness was also a good savings. I also purchased the trim panel tools, which I probably could have done without, but it did make the job a little easier. The customer service is also excellent. Representatives were very quick to respond to emails and always provided helpful advice.
Pros:
Great sound, great price, great customer service and free wiring harness.
Cons:
I can't think of any at the moment. I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

Great bass response!

Written By Fmd, Baltimore, md on Tuesday, August 06, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed These in my Mazda 3 to beef up my factory system. I have a pair in the front doors and they sound amazing! I wasn't sure my factory head unit would have enough juice to do them justice, but they are great! I was considering another pair for the rear doors, but I am not sure I need it. I have a GTA car kit to handle my iPod and these speakers in front and I don't feel the need for anything more to make my system better. The only downer I have now is the occasional rattle in my door. I have fixed that by stuffing a cloth in the door panel. I may do a bass blocker in the front only if I get another pair for the back doors.
Pros:
Crisp highs, great response on the low end too. Great price!

I think that these speakers are as about as good as it gets without buying separates. I replaced my factory speakers in my 2001 F250 and I am very satisfied with them. My factory speakers sounded like I was listening under water. Now I have clarity unlike anything I would have expected from 75.00 speakers. They are running off the stock head unit and sound good. I plan on upgrading the head unit and adding a sub next and I am sure that will fix anything lacking. Great buy!!!

Great Factory Upgrade

Written By Lil John, Bastrop,LA on Saturday, June 29, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Infinity did a great job on the design of these. I installed them in a '13 F-150 Super Crew (2pr, Front & Rear Doors) sitting in the driveway in under an hour. I'm not pro but, I'm not a novice either. 10 times better sound than the stock Sony speakers that it came with. Love the +3db switch. Even my 13 & 11 year olds could tell the difference of the switch. The Crutchfield Pigtail Harness made the install painless as can be. The Girlfriend likes them so much, I have to order her a set now.
Pros:
Crystal clear highs. Love the +3db switch.
Cons:
Not a lot of bass but, it's enough. You want more bass, add a Sub.

Don't buy if you don't have a good amp

Written By Anonymous, CliftonPark NY on Friday, June 28, 2013

They sound awesome till my pioneer hits about 65% volume then the get distorted and usually blow. I'm going to return them because after spending a good amount of money on these speakers i really don't feel like spending more $ on a solid amp. These were installed in an 02 ranger. Honestly they sound amazing till about 65% like I said but I enjoy music at slightly higher volume.
Pros:
crisp, honestly good bass, snarey
Cons:
power hungry

Infinity Reference 6832cf

Written By JD, Michigan on Monday, June 17, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in a 2011 F150 Supercab. These are great speakers for their price point. I have been using the Reference and Kappa series since the mid 90's and I have always been satisfied. These speakers are extremely clear and have much more definition and separation between highs and mids than any stock set of speakers.

This is the first time I've installed speakers and kept the factory HU but thanks to the low amount of necessary power on these Infinity's they sound great. As other reviewers have stated they don't have a lot of base but that's not what they're designed for. That's what subs are for. I did use Dynamat Extreme on my install and that seemed to make them even more clear and maybe a little deeper with no distortion on the lower midrange.

My only complaint is that the tweeters don't seem to pivot 180 degrees. It's more like 90 degrees which means that on one side of your vehicle you can't get them to aim back at all towards your ears. They do aim somewhat towards your ears because they are angled so at least they can point up when in lower areas of doors or forward if in rear decks. This is the third set that I've owned of Reference series that have pivoting tweeters and I thought that prior versions had more adjustability. I could be wrong. Infinity has a newer model as well so maybe they have addressed this. As always Crutchfield was awesome in every aspect.
Pros:
Clarity Highs Mids Low power requirement
Cons:
Tweeters don't seem to pivot 180 degrees

Very good set of speakers for the price. I listen to any kind of music and it all sounds good with the head unit that I have (pioneer). I don't don't know if it is just my car but I wish they made the molding that goes around the speaker and little wider and thicker so that it doesn't rattle the doors when the bass gets to high.
Pros:
Great price for what you get

Nothing Significant

Great Factory Replacements!

Written By George D, Honesdale, PA on Wednesday, November 28, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these Infinitys to replace the factory speakers in my wife's 2000 Explorer Sport. Not only did I get them at a GREAT price but shipping was FREE and vehicle specific harnesses were included as well! Installation was a breeze with all 4 speakers taking a total of 25 - 30 minutes! I was sent a pamphlet that gave me step-by-step instructions on how to remove and re-install the speakers. My wife and I couldn't be happier with this product! :)

These are definitely not speakers for you if you're looking for big bass response but the CLARITY of the set is what really made me glad I chose them. They all have a tweeter level control switch that allows the output of the tweeter to be increased by 3db and lets the high frequencies really cut through the mix.

I have dealt with Crutchfield in the past and have never had a bad experience. The quality of the products is top-notch and this company really knows how to take care of their customers!
Pros:
Factory replacement was quick and easy. Clear and balanced sound Tweeter level control lets you dial in your sound Great price! Free shipping!
Cons:
Not a lot of low end response

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 4 of these for my hunting truck (03 f250) at the same time as I replaced the head unit. I mix audio at the House of Blues, so from a professional audio standpoint I'd say the hi response is as advertised. Clear with no distortion in normal usage ranges. The 3db tweeter boost is completely unnesessary, even in my cavernous, cloth filled hunting rig. Mid-range is acceptable for the price-point, but not amazing. The low end, as stated by others is basicly nonexistant. I believe the manufacturer stated a low freq response starting at 47hz(?) but in reality that's probly closer to 100hz. For the money, very nice units. My personal opinion is that they would be best suited for a properly crossed rig with a seperate amp/bass setup to run anything sub-200hz. I would buy them again.
Pros:
Clear high's. Low cost.
Cons:
No low end.

Dramatic Improvement Over Factory

Written By BrewCityF150, Milwaukee, WI on Friday, November 16, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I still cannot get over the sound quality improvement vs. the factory speakers in my 2012 F150 Scab! I am currently powering these with my factory head unit (with Sync). While you do lose a slight bit of low end, the bass is much tighter. The mids are warm and the highs are bright and crisp. While the 2012 F150's have a factory tweeter in the a-pillar, the additional rotating tweeter helps with sound imaging (I have the +3db switched on for all four speakers). I listen to mostly country so these are perfect. I suspect if you powered these speakers with an amp they would blow you away! I'll be adding a small powered sub to round out the low end.

Installation was straight forward with the Master Sheet and wiring harness. Overall I could not be happier with the purchase!!
Pros:
Low impedance, high efficiency Rotating tweeter to help with sound imaging Perfect fit Great overall frequency range Terrific sound
Cons:
None

These are Excellent overall sounding speakers. You dont get the low Bass, but thats not why you buy these. The bass is still present and good. The sound is rich, smooth, and enjoyable. I bought two pairs to replace my factory speakers ion my 2006 Ford Taurus, best investment I made. I HIGHLY recommend these speakers for anyone looking to upgrade their factory radio or add a great dimension to their aftermarket system.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What a difference! I replaced my stock front speakers on my shaker 500 07 mustang gt and can't believe the difference. Before, the speakers sounded muddy and if you cruised around with your windows down, forget hearing any highs or mids. Very clean and sharp highs and like to swival tweeter. I bought these with 5x7 baffles and with Crutchfield including the wire adapters, it was a breeze. It took me about 20min to install on both doors including removing and replacing the door panels. I've heard many different speaker brands and have to hand this to Infinity. Very good quality and worth the extra money!
Pros:
Quality, sound, bang for the buck
Cons:
None

Great buy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were installed in a 1998 Ford Expedition. I bought these speakers as a first time stereo up-grader on the recommendation of Crutchfield outlet store. Wow, I am so glad those guys suggested these speakers. These speakers are nothing short of incredible. The sound quality is amazing, very clear/sharp highs and good mids (I will address bass later as it seems to be a common complaint). These speakers are very efficient which means that you don't have to crank the volume to hear them. All in all I would recommend. About the bass.... These SPEAKERS are NOT SUBS A lot of people say they have less bass than the factory speakers they remove and that is probably true. The reason is factory speakers are designed to give bass, which allows car companies to get around adding a sub. These are made to work in a DESIGNED system where most bass is delivered via a sub, not these speakers. Without a sub, the sacrifice for bass is sound quality and these speakers are about sound QUALITY, not bass. Also, ALL speakers have a break in period. I was extremely disappointed with the bass out of the box with these speakers. I had the bass all the way up and it was hardly there. Given a week or so of easy break-in, these things will shake my mirrors and the bass is excellent considering I do NOT have a sub installed.
Pros:
Great sound quality Well made Adjustable tweeter
Cons:
Mediocre bass response (improves over time) *MOUNTING SCREWS ARE NOT INCLUDED*

Not much bass from these speakers

Written By Reggie, York Pa on Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these to replace a pair a Kenwood KFC-X680 (one speaker died and are discontinued) in a 2002 Lincoln and these Infinity's sound worse than the stock speakers. This speaker had NO BASS at all from it. Even tried a baffle and that didn't help. Although the sound quality was ok, I wanted something with a little more punch. I'm still running my stock radio, but still the Kenwood's rock, these don't.
Pros:
Look nice, adjustable tweeter
Cons:
No bass from a stock radio.

Great speaker for the money

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the rear speakers in my 2012 Mustang GT (base audio) with these speakers, and what a HUGE improvement they made! I started with Pioneer D-Series in the front doors, which are also great speakers, but hadn't replaced the rears as they are a little more involved, and the system just wasn't right, the factory sub-par speakers shone through still. These Infinity speakers compliment the Pioneers up front perfectly, and the rotating tweeter domes let me aim the sound forward for better imaging.

Great sounding speaker, well thought out package with adhesive-backed foam mounting pads included, doesn't get any better for the price.

Don't expect earth shattering bass from these (or any full range), that's not what they're about, but they make even your stock head unit sound great!
Pros:
Awesome sound, rotating tweeter dome, foam backing pads
Cons:
None

Crutchfield came through with a great price on the Infinity 6832cf speakers. Installed 4 in my f150, Not disapointed, actualy very pleased. Compaired to stock speakers these provide a very solid base response, with great mids, and highs, along with a richness or fullness that just is not found in the stock speakers. Thanks Crutchfield, Great service, and I'm very happy.

Good for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Mids and highs are dramatic and nicely balanced. Bass is fine but nothing you will write home about. Tried with and without dynamat speaker kit. The dynamat did not make enough difference. Buy a sub to accent these. The mid bass to highs are fantastic and well worth the price. Using Clarion CX 501 to power and they work together quite well. Just think I will get a small sub to boost the bottom end.

I imagine if you powered these with a 50 watt amp they would provide ample bass for most people. The bass they do reproduce is very nice but just not quite enough to compete with the mids and highs.

Soundstage from the doors became much more focused and broader when I installed these. For the price, I have not heard better.
Pros:
Fits; Brand; Price
Cons:
Tweeter 3dB boost is serious OVERKILL

Great Buy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound amazing. The highs and mids are just what I expected. Not very much lows but complimented with some good subs, these speakers help make up a great sound system. I've heard a lot of good things about Infinity and this being my first sound system, I'm sold on Infinity. For the price, you definitely get much more than you pay for.

I blew one of these speakers about 3 months after I got it. After blowing my sub, while I was waiting for my new one to come in, I turned up the bass boost on my amp and again, these speakers can't really handle much lows. However, one 5 minute phone call to crutchfield and I had two new speakers on the way, no hassle what so ever. So as long as you keep from feeding too much lows to these speakers they will perform incredibly. I would definitely recommend these speaker, and HIGHLY recommend you buy them from crutchfield. These guys are great.
Pros:
Amazing sound!! Crisp, clean mids and highs.
Cons:
Not so much lows.

Speakers bought on faith

Written By Marc M, Atlanta, Ga. on Sunday, July 17, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 1 pair of speakers to replace the factory installed pair in my conversion van. The Crutchfield sales rep recommend this brand because they have a good sensitivity rating and should be compatible with the other 4 factory speakers. I was hoping it get more bass out of the Ford factory system with these new speakers. While these speakers provide good high and mid range sound, and they seem to work well with the other speakers, they do not significantly increase the bass.

I went to upgrade the speakers in my F-150 with a pair of infinity 2-way 6x8's I had from another vehicle I sold. They were older but in new condition BUT I damaged one of the cones installing them so I bought one pair of the new models. Boy what a difference between the old pair & the new pair. They sound so good I bought a second pair to match the system up. Love these speakers. Worth the money!

Infinity Quality

Written By CaffeineCharged, MN on Sunday, July 03, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Visually inspecting these speakers: very solid, no misses on the part of QC. The fact that the tweeter can be 'aimed' and given a boost is very thoughtful! It helped in my car, where the fronts are near my shins and the rear deck allowed me to get them aimed at the window for great acoustic effect! I was able to test the amazing range of these speakers due to my headunit's very customizable user-set EQ. Once set to my liking, the bass is very low and non-distorted, and during a sine-sweep, they transitioned from Low, Mid and highs smoothly. I've decided I will probably hold off on a subwoofer, since I'm sick of installing audio parts and these speakers provide well enough! I've always heard great things about Infinity, and this being my first pair, I'm very impressed!

These speakers are a very good value for the price. The advanced features of a two-position treble level and a positionable tweeter are very nice. Crutchfield's installation instructions were right on the money, and everything I needed was in the box. The fit was perfect with no cutting, a quick and simple installation. The sound is clear and open. Highly recommended.

2011 Mustang rear deck, bad fit

Written By WesE, Charlottesville, VA on Saturday, May 14, 2011

Great sounding speakers. Really makes stock Ford shaker 500 system sound
much better. But on the 2011 Ford Mustang, the rear deck card sit on the foam
surround of these speakers as they have no outer plastic lip to keep it off. I
think these speakers will fit earlier Mustangs that have rear grills. They come
with some shipping plastic that can be used as a spacer, but these rattle with
bass. I made some spacers to hold the rear deck card off the foam, but it was
a pain. The tweeters are much brighter then the Polk 5x8's. I think the Polks
sound a bit more natural, but I still have the stock speakers in the doors, and
the bright tweeters in the rear help to compensate for the very dull stock Ford
speakers. I will eventually replace all 4 speakers for the polks or the 5x8 Infinity
kappa's which I like much better but Crutchfield fit guide said they would not fil.

I am a novice and I bought these for the doors of my kids Ranger and put the
Kappas in the back. I don't know why, I just did it that way because the order of
the recommended "It fits!" grouping by Crutchfield put them in. These sound
nice, but for some reason, the Kappas sound better. Can't go wrong with
either. For those of you with Ford Rangers - The install instructions make
these a very easy swap.

Awesome

Written By Eric, Mqt, MI on Wednesday, February 23, 2011

First off these were put in a 2005 F-150 with the single cd player (non
audiophile system). I originally had pioneer 3 ways in the front doors but was
pretty disappointed in the sound quality. I was looking for something better and
found these! Based on the good reviews I figured it was worth a try. What a huge
difference between these and the Pioneers. I've always used Pioneer's in other
Fords I've owned and they have been very durable speakers. But the difference
between these 2 way Infinity speakers and the 3 way Pioneers are night and day.
The 3db switch and the ability to rotate the tweeter up works flawlessly. Treble
and midrange are perfect. And for all of you that don't want to sacrifice bass
when upgrading to another 6x8 speaker...bass is also very tight and crisp (not
for rap music though). I thought about going with a small sub but not anymore.
Again, in my opinion, for a truck speaker, these have more bass and better
overall sound than the stock and Pioneer speakers. You can't go wrong with
these. Now I just need to get 2 more for the backseat!

Can't do better than these!

Written By BrendanG, Middleboro, MA on Friday, February 18, 2011

Wow! I have two of these, one in each of my front doors and they can be LOUD!

**Please Note**
Unless you listen to some lame music, these alone will not cut it. These
speakers have amazingly clear mid-high range notes and do not even try to
reproduce low notes that many stock speakers will do. These speakers are,
however, AMAZING if you put them into a system with a subwoofer or other
speakers for the lows.

I currently am powering these with a Sony Xplod amp, and giving them about 60W
per speaker, they seem to handle it fine. After 4 months I am very pleased about
buying these.

**Installation Note:**
If you are using metal connectors with no rubber coating, you may want to bend
the connector away from the basket. I found that my connectors were touching the
basket, if this affects performance or shorts, I did not test. Seems like I'd
rather be on the safe side.

Any System: A++

Installation

Written By Tom, Keller, TX on Thursday, February 03, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are a good product, no worries there. However, the installation was not as
easy as advertised. There were screw tabs on the sides which would not allow the
speakers to fit. when I called I was told to go ahead and cut them off. Fortunately I had
some large fence pliers with which I was able to bend them repeatedly and break off. For a
delicate item such as speakers, not a great thing to do. Otherwise cutting them with
something else would have been more difficult. Once they were in they work great.

Ford F150 replacement speakers

Vehicle: 2005 Ford F150 Supercab
With the help of a Crutchfield advisor, I ordered the 5"x7" s Infinity Speakers (6832cf) for the rear doors on our F150 Supercab. The original speakers were shot. The Infinity speakers brought the whole sound system back into focus. They are a great middle price range solution. The detailed instructions and wiring harness adapter helped me to replace the speakers myself, and I have average talent and tools. Thanks Crutchfield !!!

I bought 2 sets of these speakers for the doors and the rear deck of my 2011 ford mustang( note they dont have the install sheets for 2011 mustangs so i ordered these speakers saying they were for a 2009 mustang and the install sheets worked great . The door speakers took about 30 mins to do and the rear deck took me about 1.5 hours. There is alot of stuff in the back to remove to get at the rear deck speakers. The sound is WAY better then the muddy factory speakers. I am running them with the factory radio no amp and They give great highs and good tight bass but the boomy type bass sounds crappy. So if you want boom boom boom bass id say get a sub. All in all im very happy with these speakers well worth the money. Thanks again as always to crutchfield for another great product and awesome quick delivery. Thats why i only shop here for my car electronics needs...

Replaced stock speakers in an old Sable with electronic controls and amp in the trunk so I can't easily replace the head unit. These speakers pull a significant amount of additional sound pressure from the stock amp. Easy pop out pop in replacement. Disconnected the stock tweeters in the upper door.
I shut my kids sub off when I drive, and for classic rock/blues these are surprisingly effective, especially with the treble boost. Got on sale here. Worth every penny.

Infinity has speakers in more than one of my cars, and again they deliver fantastic sound. I got a great price on 2 pairs of these babies and installed them in my Ford Explorer. They shipped with great installation documentation and the proper vehicle specific wiring harnesses. (Crutchfield is awesome!) In about two hours, I had 4 new Infinitys installed and started putting them through their paces. Let me just say WOW! The improvement over the stock paper units was dramatic! The bass was great (for non-component speakers and without a sub), and the adjustable tweeters provided much better imaging even with a stock head unit. For the money, there isn't a much better stock speaker replacement.

Terrible. No Bass, and cracks at half volume.

Written By akshatp, NJ on Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought two sets of these as a replacement for the factory speakers in a 02 Mercury Cougar in which I recently installed a new JVC head unit. The head unit upgrade itself already made the stock spkrs sound pretty good, so when I ordered the speakers I was excited to hear how much better it would be.

WRONG. My stock speakers sound "infinitely" better than these. These infinitis have ZERO bass, I mean ZERO. I am not looking for thumping bass, but these literally have no low response at all. Not only that, they start to CRACKLE and POP when the volume hits 25 (out of 50) and sound like they will blow if I go any higher. My stock speakers handle up to volume 42 with no distortion.

I thought maybe I received a defective unit, so I tried the other one, and same thing. Good thing I tested out the fronts before opening the back panels!!

As a former Infinity customer, I am extremely dissapointed with these speakers, hopefully crutchfield exchanges them for me.

I bought a pair of these to replace the front speakers in my '99 F150. First of all, the sound quality is excellent. There is a huge difference between these and the paper factory speakers. The speaker placement in my truck is down low by my leg so I really like the +3db switch on the tweeter as well as the fact that it can be angled toward the listener. The speakers fit perfectly and using the adapter cables that Crutchfield included made installation a breeze. I would definitely buy these again, and I would definitely buy them from Crutchfield.

I purchased a pair of these speakers and a Clarion CZ100 player to replace the factory system in my wife's 1996 Mercury Villager/aka Nissan Quest. I was absolutely blown away by the sound of these speakers!! The highs are incredibly smooth and the bass is very solid. If you prefer a speaker with exceptionally smooth, high-frequency response, look no further. The sound quality rivals my Infinity home speakers, which I also purchased from Crutchfield a few years back. And at the sale price, these speakers were an incredible bargain!!!

Kudos to Crutchfield on how well the Mastersheets were prepared for the Villager! My total elapsed time to remove two door panels, remove the factory speakers, install the new Infinity speakers, and re-install the door panels.......52 minutes!!!!!! Thanks so much Crutchfield for providing such incredible service to your customers!!

Infinity speakers in a 2008 Ford Escape

Written By mac, Rawlins, WY on Wednesday, April 21, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The instructions for removing the Escape door panel called for unhooking the door latch cable, but I had enough room to install the Infinity Reference 6832f oval speakers without unhooking it. I couldn't budge the cable housing retainer anyway just by using my fingers - a tool would have been needed to loosen it; just a very tight friction fit.

See the first reviewer's comment on the quality of the Ford speakers; the cone material on the backside of the originals felt soft and fuzzy (the front was covered by a thick fixed grille), and they sounded just like they felt, albeit with more bass emphasis. I had been planning to also replace the OEM radio/6 CD changer, but for now I'm satisfied with just the front speaker improvement. Until I get a chance to ride in the back seat I don't think I will need to change anything back there.

Much better than stock

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the front and rear speakers in my '07 F150 SCrew. The
stock speakers are paper and no matter what eq they sound HORRIBLE. It only
took about 15 minutes to do the front and 30 to do the back (since you have to
remove the whole door panel of the back doors to get to the speakers where as
the grill is the only thing to be removed in the front).

They sound so full and vibrant with the stock cd player, and even better now
that I have a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT installed. I was thinking about getting an
amp to power them, but the new head unit makes them sound so good and loud I may
not have to do that.

Replaced the factory speakers in the rear deck of the car with these and the difference is really amazing. I have a Ford Explorer 4 door with a Kenwood KDC-MP242 head unit - got 4
of these to replace my door speakers - i was worried about the comments
regarding the bass for the 6822cf but had sold myself on these speakers
due to the construction and past expierences with the manufacturer - so i
ordered them. They arrived in 3 days and i went to work to installing them,
the directions and wiring that Crutchfiled supplied made it so easy and
when i fired it up to set the tweeter direction and level i was completely
happy. They sound great, amazing clarity - i set the tweeters to 0db to
assist in getting a bassier sound and increased the bass bost on my head
unit - sounds great - would recomend these speakers to anyone interested
