The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience. You probably spend more time listening to music in your car than in your home. Why not enjoy home speaker sound quality when you're on the road? Infinity Reference 9612i 6"x9" speakers feature silk dome tweeters that would be right at home in your living room speakers. These sweet-sounding domes deliver crisp, clear response, yet won't fatigue the ears. The tweeters pivot, so you can direct the highs for a well-balanced stereo "sweet spot" just like sitting in your favorite listening spot at home. Infinity designed their Plus One+ woofers with more surface area than other 6"x9" speakers, for higher efficiency and improved bass output. A sturdy rubber surround suspends the cone in its non-resonant powder-coated steel basket. Settle into the driver's seat and make the most of your daily drive time with the exceptional sound of Infinity Reference speakers. Features Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency. Woofer Materials: Each woofer is constructed from Injection-Molded Polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response. Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output. 1" Silk Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses a 1" edge-driven silk dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot tweeters are angled (non-adjustable) and may be turned up to 355 degrees for optimum imaging and in-car frequency response. Note: The tweeters are not made to turn 360 degrees. If they are turned 360 degrees or more, they will be damaged. Product Reviews Review this product Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences about this product. Crutchfield gave me everything I needed to remove panels (also the connection adapters), but the drilling was the hard part. But if you like working on your own car like me, enjoy. The sound is very clean and it hits the highs and mids perfectly with just the power from the Head unit (22x4 rms). I can turn my volume extremely loud and my ears don't ring like factory speakers. Also purchased the Infinity Ref 6 1/2 for the front. I had already replaced the fronts with the 6.5" Infinitys. These added nice depth. Would highly reccommend & will install in my CR-V. Holes in speakers do not line up with holes in rear deck. First car reworked speaker holes, big pain. Next car drilled out deck holes (note: 5mm not 8mm per instructions) with 1/4" drill, used 5/8" #8 panhead screws and nylon locknuts. Before you buy your next 6x9's, check these out and I bet there is NO comparison. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Worth the effort Written By Richard, College Park, MD on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 The speakers sound great. The first album I tested was Dark Side of the Moon, and I could understand some spoken mutterings that I'd never heard clearly before. I'd give the speakers 5 stars for their clear sound. My one-star reduction is for installation issues. First, the reason I needed new speakers was because the wires got snagged and ripped from my Toyota Camry's factory speakers. I'm worried about these new Infinities because the lugs for their wire connections are flimsy and bent when I attached their wires. I'm sure a couple more bends would shear the lugs right off.Second, the speakers were difficult to install in my 2000 Camry. Crutchfield's instructions were mostly accurate, but I never found a way to drill holes precisely where they needed to be. I eventually got the speakers installed, but I have eight long, sharp screws sticking down at various angles into my trunk compartment. 3 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
