About the Infinity CS60

Tom Mathew
Get dynamic Infinity sound from a speaker that literally disappears into your room. The CS60 mounts flush in your wall, so it won't take up a single inch of floor space. It's perfect for small rooms and other areas of your house where standard loudspeakers aren't ideal, like a kitchen or hallway.

The CS60 sports a true 2-way design with a 1" tweeter and 6-1/2" woofer, so the sound is rich and full. The pivoting tweeter lets you direct the audio towards your favorite listening spot. This clever in-wall is great for stereo music, home theater, or even a multi-room audio setup. And the grille and frame are paintable for seamless blending with your décor.

Mounting Options

Features

Woofers: The 6.5" poly laminate cone woofers virtually eliminate coloration due to cone flexing, resulting in less distortion and superior accuracy. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

Tweeter: The speaker has a 1" pivoting titanium-coated dome tweeter with an acoustic waveguide. This allows you to direct the highs to the location where you will listening to music or watching TV.

Waveguide Design: The CS 60 incorporates a proprietary waveguide design to ensure smooth distribution of sound throughout the listening area.

Mounting Options

Installation:  The speaker requires a cutout of 9.684" x 7.128", with a depth of 4.018" (including the thickness of the drywall). Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the locking tabs can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly.

Note: For new construction, you will need to purchase the optional IW6RIF rough-in-frame kit (item # 108IW6RIF).

Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing this speaker to match any decor.

Customer Q&A

4 questions already asked

Q
Are these rated for a ceiling on an outdoor patio?
dave  Mar 15, 2017
4 answers
A
The infinity manual does not say whether these speakers are suitable for outdoor use, but CNET does. They are designed for installation in the ceiling and wall.
david  Mar 18, 2017
A
Installing in a ceiling is not an issue. The speakers are not weather protected or water resistant themselves however so care should be taken. Being in a non climate controlled environment, humidity issues could potentially cause internal rust and degradation of components in the speakers.
david  Mar 16, 2017
A
These are not outdoor-rated. However-- if you're talking about the underside of a protected patio ceiling you SHOULD be OK, at least for a season or more (until the humidity kills the crossovers, perhaps). If it were me, I would do this-- they're $50 for crying out loud, and will give a nice, clean look-- cleaner than if you mounted Polk Atriums, for example. Plus, I'm happy to tell you, these things sound fantastic and, for my money, they're the best speaker you can buy (did I mention they're FIFTY DOLLARS?).
allyson  Mar 16, 2017
A
Their not outdoor speakers. We mounted them in the garage.

Q
Can I use them in the ceiling?
jeff  Feb 27, 2017

A
Mine are in the ceiling and fit and hold perfectly. No reason why you can't install them that way, too.
allyson  Mar 16, 2017
A
You may be able to since there are four screw down clasps that tighten to the drywall. You may want to reach out to Crutchfield themselves and see what they say though.
jeremy  Mar 03, 2017
A
Yes Jeff just like a wall mount
jim  Mar 02, 2017
A
You sure can I have them in my theater room!
roy  Mar 01, 2017
A
I cannot think of a reason you could not.

Q
Is the Infinity medallion fixed on the grill?
james kyle  Jan 22, 2017
8 answers
A
NO it is not. They ship them that way purposely so you can use them, not use them, paint the grille instead, etc. It's actually a really thoughtful feature.
allyson  Mar 16, 2017
A
It is not.
seth  Jan 23, 2017
A
On the units I purchased the Infinity medallion can be easily removed, repositioned or discarded.
william b.  Jan 22, 2017
A
No , should it be?
mark t  Jan 22, 2017
A
No it is not. I believe it's a sticker of some sort. I did not place it on mine when installed them.
jeremy  Jan 22, 2017
A
No the grill snaps into the speaker housing
jim  Jan 22, 2017
A
No it is not.
michael  Jan 22, 2017
A
No it's a separate sticker.

Q
will these be good for loud rock and roll in a 20 by 12 foot basement?
stephen  Jan 25, 2014
6 answers
A
I believe so. I use them as supplemental sound to a Bose Acoustimass system for music and they are my side surround sound speakers for television and BluRay. The sound they put out is crisp and has very good bass quality. I have never used just the Infinitys by themselves, but I would say they would make great speakers for rock and roll, especially if they are used with other good speakers. My room is 15ft wide by 32ft long.
kevin p  Jan 27, 2014
A
Um, not in my opinion as a stand alone speaker. For normal volume rock perhaps, but I find the woofer can't withstand extreme bass fire a long time without distortion
drew  Jan 26, 2014

I have them in a 12x20 room. For surround they work great. If you are looking to loosen your fillings they are too small. I purchased two Infiinity P363 to round out the rock and roll capability.

Hi Steve - I've got these hooked to a nice moderately powered sound system in our basement. Overall sound quality in excellent, only lacking the low lows that a sub-woofer should supply. I've cranked our system at least a couple of times and been really happy with the sound. It all depends what you connect them to and how the speakers are spaced but I'm really happy with our speaker set. Regards, Mark H.

I finished 700 square feet and i installed 4 of these. They sound absolutely awesome. I also installed the center channel and sub I owned before. For movies and music they rock. You will not be disappointed.
brad  Jan 26, 2014

Hi , The CS60 is an excelIent speaker for mid to high range listening. I have installed a few dozen pairs and they have never disappointed. However you will need a good sized subwoofer with the CS60 to bring out its full potential for rock and roll listening. Good luck with your decision! Ian
