Decent Speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 7 of these. 5 for a 5.1 system and 2 more as surrounds in another room. I knew they would't be ideal as left center and right, but in this room it was more important that they were out of the way rather than perfectly placed. They work OK but don't sound that great off-axis. I probably should have gone with a speaker that was more aimable. The other disappointment is they aren't quite white. They are a bit gray and stand out. They are paintable but it's silly to have to paint them white when that's what they are supposed to be.

As surrounds they work well, but again they work much better when they point directly at the listening position.

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, decent sound for the price.

Cons: Off-white color, Off-axis sound.

As expected

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought two pairs of these mainly because they fit in the opening we had made in the ceilings of our brand new house for some high end speakers. I doubt I would ever be able to tell the difference in the what were supposed to go in and these, but the Infinity speakers were half the price. I am not an audiophile, but these sound great to me. The Crutchfield customer service is great as usual. I had the speakers a couple of days after I ordered them.

Pros: Nice sound, good price and fit my 8" openings

Cons: None

Nice speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these Infinity's to use for background music in my large living room. They sound great! I was not expecting them to shake the room, but they will get loud enough for my taste. I was surprised by the amount of bass as well. All in all a good speaker for my application.

Pros: Good build quality, good sound quality, easy to install.

Cons: Nothing, performing just as expected.

Just what I wanted

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had Infinity speakers and subwoofers and now I have installed these 'voice matched'
Infinity inwall speakers for my middle side and high-wide left and right front speakers for
a 9.1 installation with my new 9.1 reciver.

Using round speakers made an better installation since you can't make round crooked
;-}) They sound great and in my 19'x20' theater room they made a very nice improvment.

These speakers install very fast, easly and are very sturdy. Mounting simply with four
built in clamps that secure on the inner side of the dry wall. The attachment is rock solid
and any vibration uses the wall as part of the speaker.

Great Rear Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great for the size. Easy to install with included templates. Speakers also look great when installed. I am using these speakers for left and right rear channels in my living room. For my house they are perfect. I have an open floor plan and the ceiling is the only option for my rear speakers. I don't know if these would be great speakers for front channel surround sound applications, but for rear and multi-room applications they are definitely a great fit. After about a week I put the speakers through the paces and they performed great. I am very pleased with the purchase of these speakers and will recommend and install them for others.

Mounting Options

Woofer: The 6-1/2" poly laminate cone woofer virtually eliminates coloration due to cone flexing, resulting in less distortion and superior accuracy. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

Tweeter: The speaker has a 1" pivoting titanium-coated dome tweeter with an acoustic waveguide. This allows you to direct the highs to the location where you will listening to music or watching TV.

Waveguide Design: The CS60R incorporates a proprietary waveguide design to ensure smooth distribution of sound throughout the listening area.

Mounting Options

Installation: The speaker requires a cutout of 7.944" and a depth of 4.095" (including the thickness of the drywall). The speaker frame has a diameter of 9.298". Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the locking tabs can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly.

Note: For new construction, you will need to purchase the optional IW6RIF rough-in-frame kit (item #108IW6RIF).

Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing this speaker to match any décor.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

Good balance of sound quality and price. [ JAMES  Dec 09, 2015 ]

3 questions already asked

I used these in the ceiling for rear channels and they work well. You may not get the complete sound that you want using for all channels as due to the size the bass response will not be as great. Definitely get a sub woofer. You mentioned prewired but are the drywall holes already cut? If not you could go larger size for front left/right and center. You may have more options to consider. Give Crutchfield a call about other products if drywall has not been cut yet. [ VICTORIA  Sep 16, 2015 ]
I have 2 in ceiling for my old style analog receiver. I would think that if you have a fancy system you should go for a better quality midrange for the center speaker. [ KAREN  Sep 08, 2015 ]
Yes you can but personally I would recommend getting a better pair of speaks for the left, right, and center. The Infinity work well as surround/complementary speakers [ Joseph  Sep 08, 2015 ]
Chris, you don't mention the dimensions of your living room. But unless you have an enormous room, these are very adequate as long as you have a decent Subwoofer attached to your system. Enjoy your CS-60Rs, I sure enjoy mines. [ Harold A.  Sep 08, 2015 ]
RAted for inside [ VICTORIA  Sep 16, 2015 ]
We bought it for inside. I think you may be able to use for outside, but we bought special outside speakers that we a larger size. [ David  Mar 04, 2015 ]
Indoor. Doesn't really have the water resistance needed to be considered outdoor. [ CHAD  Mar 03, 2015 ]
in ceiling indoor speaker [ KAREN  Mar 03, 2015 ]
These speakers should work well in most locations of a 7.1 system. Feel free to reach out to an Advisor for specifics on placement within they system and to ensure that you get the best speakers for your system and room. [ Jeff  Nov 27, 2013 ]  Staff
