A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound. Catapult your system into the upper echelons of mobile audio with a Kappa component speaker system from Infinity! Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.) cones were first developed for Infinity's award-winning Prelude MTS home speaker system. They are constructed by bonding an aluminum cone to layers of ceramic, forming a driver that is lightweight, rugged, and extremely responsive.Unlike other speakers, the high-roll rubber surround on the 50.5cs woofer is attached to the bottom of the Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.) cone. The result is more cone area for incredible depth and fullness in the low frequency spectrum. The cone is lighter than previous models too, for greater midrange sensitivity.Angle the highly-acclaimed C.M.M.D. tweeter in flush-mount mode for superb stereo imaging. The 3,500 Hz crossover network (18 dB/octave high-pass, 18 dB/octave low-pass) channels signals to the appropriate drivers for seamless output. Woofers Tweeters Crossovers Woofers C.M.M.D. Plus One Woofer Cones: These speakers use cones approximately 30% larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency. In addition, the C.M.M.D. cones virtually eliminate coloration due to cone flexing, resulting in less distortion and superior accuracy. Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output. Tweeters Tweeter Materials: Each tweeter features a 1" C.M.M.D. dome that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes. Each tweeter is driven by a powerful neodymium magnet, resulting in higher power handling and superior detail. "I-Mount" Tweeter Mounting System: Surface mounting involves mounting the surface mount cup (using the supplied screws), then snapping the tweeter into the cup. Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush mount adapter and plastic locking nut. For flush mounting, the tweeter is snapped into the flush mount cup. Then, the cup is secured to the flush mount adapter with a nut and clip washer. Once a cutout is made, the flush mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging. There are no provisions for angled surface mounting of the tweeters. Tweeter Mounting Dimensions: Surface Mount Flush Mount Mounting Height 0.996" 0.588" Depth (0.315" screw depth) 1.164" Frame Diameter 1.646" 2.003" Cutout Diameter NA 1.781" Crossovers 2-Way Crossovers: These speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers. Each crossover features an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz high-pass network for the tweeter and an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz low-pass network for the woofer. Custom Contour: Custom Contour, if enabled, will reduce the midrange output from the system, resulting in more perceived bass and high frequency response. In each crossover, this feature is enabled using the jumper, which is connected directly to the circuit board. Crossover Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are gold-plated screw terminals. Mounting: There are two mounting holes in the base of each crossover.
