Great speakers great price , great sound , totally fill the room with sound
Great speakers great price , great sound , totally fill the room with sound
These speakers were a hugh upgrade for me.... while I admit I was hesitant to purchasing them at first I'm sure glad that I did. I would recommend these to anyone that needs a great speaker in their theater arsenal.
Pros: Crips sounds all around, great price, looks great in the living room or theater room, and easy to hook up.
Cons: I have nothing for a con on these as of yet.
Really like how these speakers sound right out of the box. I had one of those speaker packages before, and they were in dire need of replacing. These speakers have helped my sound system sound much fuller. Highly recommend!
Pros: Good, full sound.
I really like these speakers. Great price, sound good, nice and sturdy, easy hookups.
These are great little speakers. They deliver a clear and powerful midrange to my home theater that has been lacking. I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Great sound. They handle dynamic ranges very well.
Cons: none I've found so far.
Great speakers for music! Currently I have them in a 2.0 setup. The imaging and clarity is great for this price point. Probably the most flat frequency response of speakers in this entry price range. Not studio monitor quality, but this will get you close for not a lot of money. Highs and Mids are excellent and bass response is quick and not boomy, though may lack "punch" for some. Others have pointed out, and I agree, that to really get a full sound the P163s will need to be paired with a subwoofer. I look forward to using them with movies for a smaller room setup.
Pros: - Sound Stage and Imaging quality - Clarity of sound for music
Cons: - Lacking punch in the low end, many ways to remedy this, but I was expecting a tad more out of the box - Need to be burned in (Highs are "harsh" initially)
These speakers are great! They sound fantastic, especially through the midrange.
Pros: Small, but not too small. clear and immersing sound.
Cons: none that I can find
Good speakers; good price; prompt delivery
Pros: Good sound, compact size
Good speakers. I got 4 of them to complete my 7 theater system. i have them connected to my marantz receiver and they sound great. i have not subwoofer yet and this speakers gave me a nice bass even withouth a subwoofer (Which i planing to purchase soon). I also have them with the 2 infinity towers 363 and they sound great.
Pros: for this price the sound is unbelievable. they are heavy and well made.
I bought a pair of these speakers, after reading literally hundreds of reviews, to use as fronts with 8 Primus P143 speakers and 5 stereo power amplifiers plus a subwoofer in a virtual concert hall system. The reviews and some frequency response tests I was able to find that made sense convinced me to give these speakers a try. The P163s are, so far, a perfect replacement for a pair of superb-sounding, but aging, Boston A150s. I cannot honestly say I hear much difference. At one point, based on previous experience, I would have preferred 3-way speakers over 2-way. However, since the woofer cone in the P163 isn't much bigger than that of a mid-frequency unit in a 3- or 4-way system of yore, paired with a very small tweeter the P163's sound dispersion throughout the listening area is quite good. If used with a subwoofer, IM distortion and the limited bass range of this speaker are a non-issue and when used by themselves the bass is quite good enough for casual listening. They sound very smooth as one might expect looking at the data I was able to uncover. The very sturdy cabinets are hardly tiny, but neither are they all that big. Actually, the P163s are a little unbelievable for the price. My wife and I are very pleased. Get a pair of these speakers. They are a steal. You shouldn't be disappointed. Oh yes, by way of fair disclosure I should mention that at one time I was chief engineer for the loudspeaker division of Electro-Voice. I can get a little fussy.
Pros: Quality construction, smooth frequency response, price
These are entry level speakers. At this price point it's a good choice. I've listened to Polk and Pioneer at this price, and like these best. With proper equalization they can sound pretty good.
Pros: Massive, sturdy cabinets. Nice style (with covers on). Good entry level speakers.
Cons: Cheap drivers. Needs a lot of EQ to sound good.
I'm very pleased with the new speakers. They replaced older Infinity speakers that had served me well.
Pros: Very good sound quality. Easy setup. Compact but amazing volume.
I have been searching for a quality bookshelf sized speakers for some time and finally took the plunge with these. Given some volume with my Onkyo receiver these small cabinets can more than fill the room with sound. Overall sonic quality ranges from good to very good across most musical types...in some cases is just "spot on" perfect. Not sure why some complain about bass (initial concern of mine) since that is basically a non issue for me. Compared to other products (including some that cost significantly more), these Infinitys do a really fine job, you could even say they are a "best buy".
Pros: Like the fact they have some weight to them vs. being an empty box. Overall sound quality.
Cons: These speakers do seem to have a break in period after which overall sound quality is smoother. Also, make sure to locate them at least one foot away from a wall for less muddy bass.
These speakers offer great value for the price. When fed with a high quality audio stream, you are able to hear details in the music that only come from high end and expensive speakers. They seem sturdy and well made. I'm using them with my computer and a DAC. They don't provide body shaking bass but they really aren't designed or priced to do that. I think a subwoofer would compliment then nicely. Over all, if the audio feed is high quality the sound is great.
Pros: Value for the money. Well made. Good sound with high quality audio feed.
Cons: No body shaking bass but ... I think I think that would be almost impossible for this price. Get a subwoofer.
I replaced a set of speakers in the bedroom and these sound absolutely fantastic. Great clairity and sound reproduction for the price.
Pros: Fantastic Value and sound
Cons: Wish they would have come in a wood grain finish
These speakers sound good, very good for their price. Mine started with a woofer problem last week. One speaker started sounding very distorted a low volume. I contacted Infinity and the service was awful. I need a woofer! I hope Crutchfield can help me out! Here's a copy and paste of their last response. Thank you for contacting us! Honestly it is the same thing if ever only that it will be replace. The fee for the service is more expensive and aside from that, we want our customer to experience as well inconvenience whenever they're product were still in warranty and we offer the one time courtesy for Service Authorization if the product is out of warranty. Please check the attached file as I forgot to attach it on the previous email. Please print it and tape it to the box. Please let me know if there will be questions. Thanks,
Pros: Pretty good sounding speaker set
Cons: Dealing with Chinese service department. If they break...just scrap them! They won't even sell me a replacement woofer! Go with Polk.
Simply put, some of the best sounding speakers for the price. I am utilizing them in my new Theater Room 17'x18' and the sound is amazing. Thank you for great customer service, fast shipping and unbelievable pricing.
Pros: Size, Price, Customer service, fast shipping
the primus p163 by infinity has achieved the finest sound that has ever been heard in a bookshelf loudspeaker. It is incredibly well-built, achieves good bass response, and has a perfect tweeter. The build quality is superb and I had an audio specialty engineer look at them and he thought they were just about perfect.
Pros: great sound, great build quality, good bass, cheap $170 price for the pair, 5 year warranty, high end speaker wire binding. Best tweeter imagineable.
I am already a fan of Infinity speakers and these do not dissappoint. The quality of sound and look are excellent. They are doing a great job as my back surround speakers for my home theater system. I highly recommend them!
Pros: Great sound and look- very classy!
Well packed and shipped, arrived quickly and undamaged. Speaker fidelity is more than adequate for my small room at lower volume levels, and produces high volumes distortion free. I have these speakers hooked to an almost antique JVC rcv/amp and they reproduce clear voice and music from several different sources.
Pros: Fidelity at low volume levels. Bargain price for a well constructed speaker and housing
Cons: size and weight for a small room
We bought a pair of these for our stereo, on which the wife especially likes to play records on the phonograph. The home theater is in another room. The speakers are amazing. I am blown away with their clarity and sound definition. At any volume. They sound excellent from the just audible to the maximum output of our receiver (135 watts). The vocals and the bass both come through with equal verve. I highly recommend these.
Pros: Sound clarity. Power handling. Bass. Treble. Midrange.
clear speakers a great sound that round out my Infinity home theater system
Pros: great sound from small speakers
Cons: none so far
Purchased these to replace some old Yamaha bookshelf speakers that didn't match my Infinity Primus tower and center channel speakers. These speakers sound great and are a better choice for back left and right surround. Now I just have to replace my Sony subwoofer with an Infinity Primus subwoofer and crank my system up.
Pros: Great price, good sound and just the right size for surround sound.
Cons: Not enough sound for front left and right speakers in a surround system.
I have decided after a long time of using "computer" speaker systems to try and build my system from scratch. After an extensive amount of research, I finally decided on these speakers to use as fronts in my system. So far they have been excellent. Coming from a set of speakers with 2 inch full range speakers these are lightyears ahead, though that isn't really saying much. I currently have them paired with a yamaha v477 receiver and a pinnacle 12 inch sub. These speakers nicely fill in the mids and highs, while sounding very clear. They are very well constructed for the price range. And the best part is they don't break the bank. In future I plan on filling the rest of my 5.1 system with other Infinity Primus offerings.
Pros: Sturdy Excellent sound for the price 5 way binding posts
Cons: Heavy Need to pop out caps from binding posts to fit banana plugs Not full length binding post
Great sound and easy install. Price is good too! Paired with a polk sub and (old) onkyo receiver.
Great sound and built solid!
Pros: Good bass!
Cons: Larger than expected!
These speakers are well constructed and look good as well. I like that they have stick on rubber feet to prevent vibration. I'm not greatly impressed with the sound. The highs are not clear and the base is not what I expected from a 6.5" woofer. Since these are not going to be used for our main stereo, I will keep them although I can't frankly recommend them. By the way, these speakers are on an older 2 channel system.
Pros: Well constructed; good looking
Cons: Not great sound. Would not recommend
I decided to get rid of my (front Left and Right) Infinity Primus P363Floor-standing speakers and go for these bookshelf speakers...I did this for looks because I was sick of looking at bulky tower speakers and honestly was concerned it wouldn't sound nearly as good. I have had the speakers for couple of weeks and they sound great now. These bookshelf speakers (front Left and Right) are in my living room with Infinity Primus PS312 Powered subwoofer, Infinity Primus PC351 Center channel speaker, and Infinity Primus P363Floor-standing speakers (back Left and Right), Yamaha receiver
Pros: Small Speaker with Clean sound after breaking them in. Quality construction. Great Price.
Cons: Took a couple weeks to break in before enjoying good sound.
These speakers sound great and you can't beat the price! So glad I bought them! All the great reviews are true.
Pros: Great sound for the money. Good construction.
I have Never owned an Infinity speaker before, its amazing, probably one of the best speakers you can get for the price range!
Pros: Good construction, good binding posts, amazing sound from such a small speaker. Has really good highs and can hit the lows good as well.
Great sound for a Great price! Not fully broken in yet, but they already sound great and keep improving each day. I'm happy with the purchase!
Pros: Great sound, perfectly sized for my bookshelves...
Great highs and mids! Not much bass though.
Pros: Highs Mids Construction
Excellent speakers good crisp sound got them on sale made them very reasonable paired with Sony suraund sound system . Just ordered center Chanel speaker yesterday can't wait to add it
Pros: Great sound for the money . Sale prices are great decided to buy my center speakers now
Got s pair to replace ancient Cerwin-Vega speakers. Purchased for the size and high ratings. Very happy!
Pros: Size, sound, value
I replaced my 30 year old Mission Bookshelf speakers I've had since college. These were more powerful, better The sound, both treble and bass, were far better than I could have imagined. I use them for music and home theater sound. Great value for the money if you don't want to invest in a huge home theater system.
Pros: compact size, great sound for the money
Cons: none that I can think of. exactly fit my needs
I hadn't bought small speakers except for surround. I ordered these with a Marantz M-CR610 receiver. I am very impressed. The sound is crisp and clear with clean highs and lows even at high volumes. Their sound easily fills my 24x32 garage.
Pros: Quality, size and sound. Plus they were on sale.
Cons: None yet.
Very nice speaker. I wanted something small, but would put out some nice sound. I use in my garage and sometimes back yard events.. Very fast delivery.
Pros: Areas without much room for floor speakers. Very portable!
Purchased the Infinity Primus P163 speakers as replacement left/right front speakers since the original ceiling speakers were not giving us the sound we wanted. The sound is great from these inexpensive speakers and we are pleased with them.
Recently purchased the P363,PS 410 sub and was considering the P163 for back fill for two channel stereo set-up.Was surprised by overall midrange balance and power load with P363 and sub.The truth is how they sound... Strong performer simple as that!! I let them scream with Blue Ray movie Non-Stop...SOLID SLAM.....
Pros: The break-in really makes the difference, the midrange performance is the key!
I had to reluctantly get rid of my floor speakers so I was not about to give up on all around sound quality. These speakers were purchased because, mainly they had a fairly decent review. The price was right.
Pros: For my old ears, these speakers have a great all around highs and lows sound and volume without distortion.
Cons: Can not think of anything bad about these.
As many of the others said, the P163s are well-made and sound great. For the money, they can't be nitpicked. I am completely happy with the purchase. I got a garage setup with only 35w/channel RMS and I believe these speakers could sound even better with a good high-powered amp.
I run these speakers as my front sound stage. I feel they have great sound, the highs and mids are clean and crisp. I'd definitely buy them again.
Pros: Price Looks Sound
Cons: None at the moment
I finally had to replace my Cerwin-Vega speakers that I have had for over 25 years. It appears that speaker technology has improved considerably. The Primus P163 delivers a full range of crystal clear music at a fraction of the wattage that I pumped into my old speakers. I never had a single complaint about my Cerwin-Vegas and it appears that I'll be able to say the same about the Infinity.
For our room & setup, these get 5 stars, especially at the price point. I also put them on a set of stands, Sanus SF-26 which really made them sound great.
Pros: Price Appearance Performance
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality sound these speakers are capable of given the great price. Even at higher volume levels they have a clean natural sound.
Nice complimentary speakers for your surround system. Great sound. And not too big or too small.
Very good speakers for the money. I don't think you can beat them for the money you spend. They work perfect in my small bedroom with a subwoofer. Just ordered the PC251 to match for 3.1 system. That is all I need since the room is small. Came in a timely manner also. No regrets buying them.
I am extremely please with these speakers having owned Infinity speakers for the past 20 years. Sound is clear, cabinet fits anywhere and the price cannot be beat. These speakers offer the same quality of sound as more expensive and popular brands. I'm very happy and would recommend them to anyone on the market for speakers.
Pros: fantastic sound; not boomy or tinnish. close to real sound as possible.
Cons: don't know of any
Decent speakers considering the cost but the bass, while strong enough, lacks the tight definition that I have loved in my previous Infinitys
Pros: Overall performance, size, and bang for the buck
Cons: Bass is a bit boomy
I'm using these as recording studio monitors in a fairly small space. These are being used for final mixdown rather than track recording. As such, I need them to be accurate, yet supply a certain polish to the sound. These Infinity speakers have been ideal. Especially surprising is the bass response. For such a small bookshelf speaker, they really provide depth and punch in the low end. I imagine they would make fantastic home audio speakers, probably really great in a home theatre application. They were a really good value, too!
These are really excellent small speakers. I bought them on sale, and think they are the best speaker for the price I could have found.
Pros: Natural sound, good detail, even bass response.
Excellent speakers love them and got them at a great price
They sound great! A good value. They replaced a pair of Infinity CS3007 speakers, and I am more than satisfied. The Crutchfield shipping and customer support was, as always, excellent.
Pros: Good sound. Good value.
it's a small little cabinet speaker doesn't seem to have a power that I would have wanted. Also clarity did not seem to be at a tight spot
Great speakers for the price.. Worth every bit of it.
I bought 4 of these puppies for my rear and side surround sound speakers. I couldn't be happier. They provide a great range and have the power available to really pump out the music. In addition, I'm lucky enough to have a 2 zone receiver and I installed a switch capable of singling out the side speakers. Now during sports games (specifically college football), I can play my school's fight song on the sides while the game continues on the mains. Even with the mains at a good volume, the sides come out crisp and clear. Infinity did a great job with the entire Primus line. Wait for sales if you can - I got mine for $99.99/ea rather than the $139.99 listed. My System: Yamaha A720 receiver (7.2) P363 mains (2) PC351 center P163 side/rear (4) Polk PSW111 subs (2)
Pros: Clarity, design, quality construction. Decent base from a midrange speaker.
Cons: Banana plugs in the back would be nice. (I'm reaching here - there is really nothing wrong with these babies!)
Great speakers. I installed 6in a 1000 sq ft room and 4 in 600 sq ft. Sound is very good. Running all on mono. Good buy.
I usually listen to music out on our covered deck just off the living room. I have a pair of PSB CS1000's mounted on the outer beam of the deck facing the living room. I bought a pair of Infinity Primus P163's to place in the living room near open windows that face the deck in order to provide better surround to the listening experience. They seem to be built very solid and are quite efficient at producing a lot of sound for the wattage going to them. They are strong in the midrange and highs. The bass is lacking but I guess that is to be expected for a speaker in this price range. There is a big difference in sound quality between the P163's and the PSB CS1000's (which cost 3 times more), especially in the bass. The P163 would be a good speaker for a standard setup that includes a powered subwoofer.
Pros: Solidly built, crisp midrange and highs.
Cons: Lacking in bass.
this speaker sounds awesome after it breaks in,tones are clear and smooth.i use this speaker for my summer time fun outside during holidays, pool time and grilling time.with the sound this speaker puts out I think the whole neighborhood appreciate.
Pros: what can I say it is a infinity.
Sound as they sould, like speakers. I have not "let'um loose" to see what they can handle, but work very well as my front surrounds. Hoped for a richer bass, but as others say they will soften up and pitch down a bit.
Pros: great size, great sound
These speakers are amazing. Crisp clear tones from both lesser receivers and higher end amps. I had an older blown speaker that was pretty middle of the road. What a difference they made when I replaced them. Even when the amp is cranked up there is only minimal distortion and when I am out in the yard can enjoy music from my living room with the windows open. On my upstairs surround receiver they rock a movie. Liked them so well I bought 2 more.
Pros: small, crisp clear sound, easy to connect, excellent value
Cons: a bit heavy for their size (could be a plus), need to be off the floor for maximum effect and sound quality.
Excellent bookshelf speakers, using them with my Onkyo TX 8050 receiver and C-7030 CD player.
Pros: sound, looks, build quality.
Exceptional sound using with my old Denon AVR.
I have a 7.2 setup consisting of all Primus speakers. I recently replaced the P163's with the P363's towers as mains. If your game is listening to 2 channel stereo go with the 363's. They're a full range tower and deliver the lower frequencies the P163's cannot. However, if you have a quality sub go with the P163's! You can purchase 4 of these badboys cheaper than a pair of 363's. Pair 4 of these with the PC351 center and a sub and you will have a quality 5.1 setup. I'm currently using the P163's as surrounds and they are great fit in that position as well. *Note My P363's are not broken in yet so I may hear a distinct improvement in the future over the P163's. However, since I have the 80hz and below frequencies being handled by my subs I doubt that will be the case. Other info (equipment): Yamaha RX-A810 receiver, Velodyne SPL-1000. Klipsch RW-12, Primus P143's as surround backs.
Pros: Excellent sound for the money
Cons: Not wall mountable.
A nice little speaker to go with my little 2.1 set up (Denon AVR-1913 and Infinity PS38 powered sub. The speakers play the sounds clearly and don't get distorted if I crank up the volume. Picked them up on sale for something like $85 each. Well worth it IMHO.
Pros: Prices and clairity
When paired with my Polk subwoofer I am experiencing great sound and clarity. I upgraded from some old Kenwood 3-ways and can't be happier. For the money, these were a great buy. Very satisfied!
Pros: Great bang for the buck. Clean, powerful sound. Great for my small room.
Cons: None yet
Great speakers at a great price. As a classical music fan, I was looking for speakers with clarity and detail, and these really exceeded my expectations. A real upgrade in sound at a very reasonable price.
Pros: Great sound at a great price. You can spend far more but for a modest sound system these are can't miss speakers.
Cons: Bigger than I expected for a bookshelf speaker.
These make a great completion to my system. I have Primus floor standing and the Primus center channel. The addition of these makes going to the movies not needed.
Pros: Easy to setup and easy to use high quality.
great sounding speakers, excellent value, attractive appearance.
Pros: great sounding speakers, would highly recommend
I'm using these along w/ Infinity Primus PC251 to listen to music/watch movies in my computer room. They have a very nice accurate sound.
Pros: build quality reasonable price sound
Just received my speakers yesterday - I am blown away by the sound these bookshelf size speakers put out. I'm a bass lover so I tested them out with some 70's Santana. I was ECSTATIC to find out they performed almost as well as my tower speakers and I actually had some bass to spare. Sound is clean and full. I would recommend these speakers to anyone wanting big speaker quality in a smaller, lighter package.
Pros: Full sound with more than adequate bass. Not "tinny" sounding like a lot of bookshelf speakers I've heard.
Cons: Pretty tall for a "bookshelf". I have them on matching wooden plant stands that I was going to give away - glad I didn't
I currently use them for my back surround system. I use a 1912 Denon and all Infinity speakers purchased from Crutchfield. The best customers service in biz........
Pros: Sound is awesome once they are broken in around 40 hours
Great speakers far superior to the polk audio that they replaced. Sound has perfect clarity and a natural tone that the polk audio speaker could never reproduce.
Pros: Excellant build quality, sound is muiltdimensional.
Initially these were very bright and, for me, can dominate a bit instead of fitting in. However, over time I found they mellow out and soon take their place providing beautiful music or wonderful dialogue, sound or effects when watching movies. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with these cabinets.
Pros: Nice price for the quality of speaker system involved.
Cons: None so far.
Nice speakers with great sound. These are used mostly for music connected off an older Kenwood receiver in a sun room 12x14. They really crank and the music is nice and clear. I would highly reccomend them and the price is very afforadable. Of course great customer service from Crutchfield as always!!!
Pros: Great speaker
Got these on sale for $172 for the pair delivered. I had bought the matching center channel speaker several months ago and it was time to replace the aging bookshelf speakers with 12" woofers. I was concerned about loosing those big woofers, but with a sub woofer it's not a problem. Tighter, brighter sound than the old speakers. Some people complain that these are overly bright, especially at high volumes. I'm older and have experienced some high end hearing loss, so the extra hi end is welcome. For others, it's a simple matter to attenuate the hi's, but you can't manufacture them if they are not there to begin with.
Pros: Good clear sound and plenty of it (93dB sensitivity). Are they an audiofiles dream? No, But they sound WAY better than you would expect at this price. Infiniti makes a great bang for the buck speaker.
Excellent speaker especially at this or any price I have purchased 8 Infinity speakers over the past 3 years
They came quickly, carefully packed, and very easy to set up. They were a bit larger than I imagined, although they were the size advertized. They have a good clear sound and they are plenty loud enough. They're built well and look sharp. I'm very happy with them.
Pros: great sound
Cons: a bit larger and bulkier than I might have liked.
I have multiple speakers in a retail environment. These speakers more than fit the bill. The bass isn't booming, but adequate. The sound reproduction is excellent for our needs in an upper end shop where the customer experience is paramount.
I have these speakers paired with 2 Polk subs driven by a Yamana integrated amp. They sound fantastic! Big, clear, accurate sound from such a small speaker. Definitely a best buy.
Pros: Bang for the buck. They sound better than many speakers costing much more.
Cons: Absolutely none.
First, this is for those that seem to have no clue as to the RED and BLACK cap plugs in the binding posts are removable. All you need is a small jewelers screwdriver or a small pocket knife to pry between the cap and binding post edge. Then you can insert your banana plugs. DUH!!. Anyway, my wife and I are impressed thus far on the tonal quality and play back response. A tad brighter than Polks but these will mellow in about 40 to 50 hours. We really like these Infinitys.
Pros: Midrange and lows are excellent
Cons: a tad bright but will soften with time.
I love the Infinity Primus speajer lineup, but the worst decision they EVER made was to go to this horrific binding post plate with color plastic caps, preventing the consumer from using a banana plug in the standard, preferred conventional way by pushing it snugly into the center hole on the all metal post. Plastic is NOT a good idea in any connection, and is cheap to begin with. So I took my Primus speakers and had the connection binding post plates switched out by an authorized speaker Infinity dealer, since they also appear to use machine rivet inserts to attach the plates instead of the standard preferred screws, which is also a unwelcomed proprietary decision I hate. I read the Inifnity forums and other technical home theater forums all the time, and there are literally hundreds of people who HATE these new binding posts on the Infinity Primus speakers. Other than that, they are fiver star speakers with incredible crisp clear sound. So five stars for sound, but I had to reduce the overall raing to 4 stars because the plates on the back are horrible!
Pros: Excellent sound and design
Cons: Infinity binding post plates are a horrible design! They need to go!
Growing up listening to movies and music through my JBL Soundgear 3030, I have always held Harmon International products in high regard. When it came time for me to finally assemble my own home theater system, I was expecting no less from these Infinity speakers. I've created a system of 4 P363's towers, 2 P163's bookshelfs, a C351 center, and a PS312 sub, all powered by a Harmon/Kardon AVR3650. Being a bargain hunter, I waited for these to go on "sale" to obtain the best price (well this side Black Friday sales prices). I have had the speakers hooked up for about two months now, and all I can say is WOW! The sound reproduction and tonal quality is incredible. Everyone has their own opinions on what sounds good, but ultimately the quality of the sound comes down to the quality of the receiver and the quality of the speaker components. I've utilized various mediums ranging from music, movies and video games, and in each medium, even with works I know quite well, comes alive- whether connected via HDMI, fiber optic or composite. There are qualities to the sound that I did not know existed- that is how incredibly clear the sound is. I would definitely recommend these speakers to someone looking to obtain the best sound for the price, while still having a high quality product.
Combined with a PC351 and set of P363's along with a Klipsch sub 12 I have superb quality sound that rivals any system!
The P163 speakers are everything I thought they would be and more. They absolutley sound fantastic. The highs are clear and the mid's are clear and not muddled. I'm sorry I waited so long to purchased these. I'm not worried about the base since I already have a Boston powered subwoofer.
Pros: great highs and mid's range.
I recently bought this P163 to replace a broken P162. (it fell off the shelf from 7 feet up and broke) Other than an new black face instead of the silver face it has the same great sound of Infinity! Clear vocals from anywhere in the room unlike some high end speaker. I use them as rear speaker to my Primus front PC351 and front left and right P363 towers with a primus 10inch sub. I have had this setup for a year and a half now and no fad in sound with crisp vocals, mids and house shaking lows for a great price! If i set my Yamaha to Large in the rear, no doubt the speakers can handle power too! They can get loud and would act geat as a smaller room front if you let them. This speaker will not let you down.
Pros: Great sound,value and style.
Cons: I wish it wasn't so deep and front heavy for an average shelf depth. FYI a door slam is what knocked mine off the shelf. A couple of small L braces and screws solved that.
Bought a pair when they were on sale and I was very happy with the sound and feel of these speakers. Perfect size for my setup. I would definitely recommend them!
Pros: Size & sound.
Excellent speakers for the money. I have them in my kitchen as my "B" speakers and just bought another pair to replace my main front speakers. They have great sound and you can't beat the sale price of $85/ea. I previously had Bose 301 bookshelf speakers and I think these are just as nice.
They accompany the P363 very well and sound great. I like these speakers.
These speakers sound great. I ordered four of them along with the center channel PC350. They are lacking in the bottom end but with my sub they sound great. One of them had a bad voice coil but I called Crutchfield and they immediately shipped a new one out and sent the UPS label to return the old one. I have them crossed over at 80 hertz and that seems about perfect. My subs are homemade 18 inch in 12 cubic foot boxes pushed with an old Hafler amp and they sound great together. For the price you can't go wrong.
Pros: Great mids and highs.
Cons: No bottom end but not a prob with a sub. Bad voice coil on one but every now and then a speaker squeaks by on QC.
I have the P162's which I believe are very similar to the current P163. After buying a pair, I quickly purchased 2 more for another room in my house. As I understand their process, Infinity's products benefit from several things: they are the product of computerized modeling, extensive testing, and in general, a scientific approach to giving accurate sound - rather than trial and error and tuning by ear. In addition, Infinity seems to be very good at taking technology that was developed for their high end speakers, and deploying it to their more affordable lines fairly quickly. I am very happy - using the P162's with a nice subwoofer and Audyssey equalization, I have been thrilled with the results, even though I replaced a pair of very nice towers with these bookshelf models, saving a great deal of space when doing so.
Pros: Tremendous value. Crisp, accurate sound.
Cons: It would be nice if these were also offered in finishes other than black, although I have no complaints about how the black ones look. But, much the same way Henry Ford brought transportation to the masses with a product that came in only one color, Infinity makes excellent sound available at a truly bargain price.
very good set of speakers, i`am really impressed with the sound, from such small speakers.
I have been an advid hometheater enthusiast for many years. I own a set of B&W 602 speakers,i paid $600, and was used to better than average sound. The infinity speakers blew these speakers away with more clarity and wider sound field. The B&W was an oversized speaker and had a lot of bass. These speakers come close to the bass of a much larger speaker. I am very happy with this purchase and may get the floor stander p362. The only other speaker that may be even a greater bargain in the HSU HB1 MK2 speaker that costs $150 each and got rave reviews.
Pros: Clarity and loudness of sound. You can hear details that my other speakers could not pick up. Can drive these speakers with little watts. You will have to pay three times as much to get better sound.
For the price these speakers are a steal. They are nearly full range and pretty powerful for such a small package. How is Infinity not losing money on these? They compare sonically to speakers costing ten times as much, such as those by PSB, Revel, Paradigm, Thiel, and others.
It has been quite some time since I bought new speakers. I have had these speakers a little over a week and have been very impressed with them. They have sounded great with movies and music. The highs and mids have sounded especially clear. Base is adequate but a sub is still needed. I managed to pick them up on sale and think they were a steal at the price i paid.
Pros: Wonderful mids and highs. Heavy. Looks.
Cons: Low tones could be better. Price if not on sale.
I'm no official audiophile, but since my cousin Jim took me to two HT tradeshows I now know what a Class A $125K system sounds like. Curse him for showing me how great it can be! Oh I have seen the light! They have these demos showcasing systems that test limits of the human ear. Long story short, I was watching some HD movie where glass shattered & I found myself wincing a bit from the clarity - It was awesome! I have five P163 bookshelves, and the C351. Their mids & highs are superbly crisp, vocals are so true you forget speakers are there & the lows are wonderful too. Love my lows (like Flo- Rida) as I already have a powered sub for the heavy stuff. Explosions are very full & lifelike - not at all muddled. I believe the Primus received a C rating in '07 with systems that are $20K. I don't have $20K to spend on speakers, lest I be divorced. But Crutchfield is letting me live the $20K Class C dream at well under $1K! I almost feel guilty. So now I have extra cash to put towards another mid-life crisis, like buying a falcon (as in the commercial) Grab these speakers, can't get a better deal for the quality & they truly deliver!
Nice speakers for the money. Nice crisp highs and mids. I was not happy with the bass responce so I had to order the PS38 amplified subwoofer. Much happier with this combination, but not having to purchase the subwoofer to get the sound responce I was expecting.
I am a sound professional, and I have used these speakers in many applications with great success. They are sonically transparent - you can't really believe you are listening to a loudspeaker. I was fortunate to know some of the people who designed them, and the people under Floyd Toole that develped the test procedures that led to these designs. Blind A/B tests of these speakers (the primus line) against a great many of the competition showed them to be sonically neutral - and invariably preferred over much more expensive speakers in a toatally blind test. I do not work for Harman - but I admire many of their products.
I have been impressed with products before but never enough to actually write a review, so here is my first. Infinity must have made a deal with the devil because there is no way this kind of sound should be able to come from such a small package. I have these speakers about 9 foot high in a large room and feel the crisp bass through the floor. These speakers deliver ultra sharp highs and bone crushing bass with the clarity you only get from expensive floor models. If you are undecided on a pair of bookshelf speakers, look no further, UNBELIEVABLE.............

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Cascade series, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers conduct sound faster than paper, polypropylene, and Kevlar, pushing unwanted resonances beyond the operating range of the transducer. M.M.D. drivers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels.
6-1/2" Woofer: The 6-1/2" M.M.D. cone woofer offers extremely accurate midrange response for cleaner, more realistic sound. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses rubber surrounds.
3/4" Tweeter: The speaker has a 3/4" M.M.D. dome tweeter that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes.
Acoustical Waveguide: The P163's tweeter utilizes an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response, no matter what part of the room you're in.
Precision Crossover Network: The speaker features a 2-way crossover system with crossover frequency at 3000Hz. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.
Voice-Matched: The P163 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Primus line, so a complete matching system can be built.
Magnetically Shielded: The Infinity Primus bookshelf loudspeaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement adjacent to your television.
Wood Grain Vinyl Cabinet: The Infinity P163 features a black wood grain vinyl cabinet that matches almost any decor.
Bass Reflex Design: The Infinity Primus bookshelf loudspeaker utilizes a bass reflex enclosure with a front-firing port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response.
Low Resonance Enclosure: The P163 employs a extremely low resonance enclosure, so you hear the music exactly as it was recorded.
Grille: The speaker comes with a removable black cloth grille with a rigid plastic frame.
5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.
Color-Coded: The speaker's binding posts are color-coded (red/black) for easy identification between positive and negative.
Rubber Feet: The speakers come with 4 rubber self-adhesive feet for each speaker to help secure them in place to prevent slippage and vibration.
Wall Mounting: The optional PinPoint heavy duty side-grip wall-mounting bracket (121AM40B, sold separately) can be used to wall mount the speakers.

No. You must use your a receiver or amplifier to control volume. [ CASEY Apr 26, 2015 ]
Always go with speaker stands. You would be surprised at how inexpensive they are at Crutchfield and the selection. [ KEITH Jan 15, 2015 ]
Laurie, as you might know, the P143 and P153 have mounting hardware for wall mounting and the P163 does not. Because of the weight of the P163(16 lbs) and benefits of speaker orientation, I would recommend using a wall shelf capable of handling that weight. I am using my P163's as part of a home theater 5.1 system and use floor stands (Sanus Steel Foundations SANSF304). [ F RICHARD R Jan 09, 2015 ]
I purchased the Pinpoint AM40 Side Clamping speaker wall mount. Item#121AM40B. They work great. Easy to install. [ DAVID Jan 09, 2015 ]
Either set of speakers will work fine. You will be pushing the Polks near their limit only when your receiver volume is turned way up but how often will you do that? My suggestion is to go with the speaker that fits your application best. This may include aesthetics, size, price, etc. [ SAMER Dec 29, 2014 ]
Connor; It depends on how loud you want to play them. I have a pair of the infinity p163. Save your money and buy the polks!! I'm selling my infinitys. [ Mark Dec 27, 2014 ]
I am not an expert. I think infinity speakers are great. I would think that able to accept up to 150w would be a better speaker. This is my second pair of infinity speakers. [ PAT Dec 26, 2014 ]
They work and sound great. If the size is similar, then get what fits your. Budget. Unless your consider yourself a true audiophile ( in which case you also have a Macintosh tube amp) these will fit your needs [ ERIC Dec 26, 2014 ]

I use Yamaha 2020 [ LUIS E Aug 19, 2015 ]
Any reciever will work but im a person that uses high end receivers. I use a denon avr. It's rated for 120 watts rms. But also i only use these for my back speakers i rely on my tower speakers for the front. using them on the front with a powered sub you wont go wrong. The more true power your receiver offers will only help the speaker more. underpowering them will hurt worse in the long run. [ JEREMY S Jun 30, 2014 ]
I would go with 100 w/channel. [ ANDREW Jun 29, 2014 ]
Any Yamaha Receiver would work well. [ F RICHARD R Jun 29, 2014 ]
I bought this receiver for a pair of those speakers: Onkyo A-9050 integrated amplifier with onboard DAC It is just an amplifier without "bells and whistles", it looks very elegant in my living room. I did a lot of research to match the speakers with the amplifier. The sound is very clear and loud. [ JUAN M Jun 29, 2014 ]
In my case it is Onkyo TX-SR608. [ ALEXANDER Jun 29, 2014 ]
These speakers will work with any receiver or amplifier with an 8 ohm output. I use them with a 40 year old Pioneer receiver and they work great. [ Paul Jun 29, 2014 ]
