Designed and engineered for high-quality sound

The P253BK owes its performance to Infinity's exclusive Metal Matrix Diaphragm™ speaker material. This material uses a stiff metal core to add rigidity to the drivers, for clear, accurate sound. Two 5-1/4" woofers dish out detailed lows and mids, and a 3/4" tweeter produces highs with sparkling clarity. And the speaker's high sensitivity means that you won't strain your amp when you crank up the volume.

Build your own Primus system

A pair of the Infinity Primus P253BK towers will fill just about any room with dramatic, well-defined sound. Match them up with other Primus speakers, plus an Infinity powered subwoofer for deep, accurate bass, and create a stunning home theater system.

Recommended center channel: Infinity Primus PC250, PC251, PC350, or PC351.
Recommended surround speakers: Infinity Primus P153.
Recommended powered subwoofer: Infinity PS38 or PS212

Driver Technology

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Cascade series, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers conduct sound faster than paper, polypropylene, and Kevlar, pushing unwanted resonances beyond the operating range of the transducer. M.M.D. drivers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels.

Dual 5-1/4" Woofers: The dual 5-1/4" M.M.D. cone woofers offer extremely accurate midrange response for cleaner, more realistic sound. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use rubber surrounds.

3/4" Tweeter: The speaker has a 3/4" M.M.D. dome tweeter that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes.

Acoustical Waveguide: The P253's tweeter utilizes an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response, no matter what part of the room you're in.

Precision Crossover: Network: The speaker features a 2-way crossover system with crossover frequency at 2500Hz. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.

Enclosure Design

Wood Grain Vinyl Cabinet: The Infinity P253 features a black wood grain vinyl cabinet that matches almost any decor.

Bass Reflex Design: The Infinity Primus tower loudspeaker utilizes a bass reflex enclosure with a front-firing port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response.

Low Resonance Enclosure: The P253 employs a extremely low resonance enclosure, so you hear the music exactly as it was recorded.

Grille: The speaker comes with a removable black cloth grille with a rigid plastic frame.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Color-Coded: The speaker's binding posts are color-coded (red/black) for easy identification between positive and negative.

Mounting Options

Outboard/Inboard Feet: The speaker comes assembled with attractive silver outboard feet. If desired, you can replace them with the supplied, less visible, black inboard feet. The feet can be changed with the use of a handheld Phillips-head screwdriver. The overall width is approximately 1" less, and the overall height is approximately 1/4" less when the black, inboard feet are used, compared to the outboard feet.

You know what thats a good qustion. And to be honest Im not too sure about that. But you can try the newer model infinity primus 353.

A pair of infinity floor standing speakers id reasonably good for a home, so for that price you can get good sounds output in your home.

Yes, very good and pretty ??????????????????

I would think so from using them on higher volumes with my 35 watt per channel receiver but have no experience with playing instruments along with them. The speakers are bright and dynamic and should workout fine
christopher  Dec 17, 2015

Shawn, I wold think so but I don't crank my speakers up or use them in this context. I do feel these are quality speakers. Good luck.

Q
I'm a bit new to buying speakers that don't come in a set. Is this price for just one of these speakers, or is it for a pair?

A
I think it is each. They are good speakers.
victoria  Dec 18, 2014

The text on the product page says, "Your price: $149.99 each". That's each speaker, not each pair.
donald b  Dec 17, 2014
A
Just for one

These do not come in a set. The price is for each individual speaker. They do make a really nice surround speaker; I have two of these in the rear, P363 in front, P351 in center and a 12" sub. The sound is great, puts you right in the middle of the action. This is can be more affordable if you get two at a time, when they come on sale.

The price is for one speaker. However it may seem expensive but I promise you it is well worth your money! I've had plenty of surround system packages from Walmart and Kmart and the sound and realism is lacking. IN my opinion Infintiy is like a generic brand in comparison to Boston Acostic and some of the other top brands but their craftsmanship and quality are still amazing. I purchased a Dennon Reciver it is a 7.2 channel. I'm using all infinity speakers and it was more affordable and still amazing! You can start with a pair and than add on. I run 2 floor speakers for my mains and Im using 4 bookshelf speakers for my surround and rear surround I also have a center channel and a powered sub woofer I still have the option to add another powered sub just haven't done it yet
