Our take on the Infinity Primus P362

by Loren Barstow
Infinity

Floor-standing speakers — still standing tall

Sure, floor-standing tower speakers buck the industry trend toward smaller, visually inconspicuous speakers, but they're hard to beat if great sound is your primary goal. Tower speakers produce powerful sound with excellent bass, making them a great choice for serious music lovers and for folks who want high-impact home theater.

The Infinity Primus P362 pumps out full, dynamic sound with clarity and detail, no matter what your listening preferences are. Music fans will appreciate the P362's smooth, natural response, and movie buffs will love its lively home theater performance. And if you're a gamer, you'll enjoy the added punch and excitement the P362 adds to your favorite video games.

This speaker's slim cabinet houses a 3/4" tweeter for crisp highs, a 4" driver for accurate reproduction of vocals and other midrange sounds, plus two 6-1/2" woofers for clean bass. All the drivers work together to create rich, room-filling sound across the audible range.

The key to this speaker's performance is Infinity's proprietary Metal Matrix Diaphragm™ speaker material. This material is based on a stiff aluminum core which adds rigidity to the drivers. This allows the speaker to reproduce clear sound, even when you turn it up loud — and the high sensitivity rating means you won't kill your amp in the process.

Recommended center channel: Infinity Primus PC350.
Recommended surround speakers: Infinity Primus P162.

Driver Technology

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Cascade series, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers conduct sound faster than paper, polypropylene, and Kevlar, pushing unwanted resonances beyond the operating range of the transducer. M.M.D. drivers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels.

Woofers: The dual 6-1/2" M.M.D. cone woofers offer extremely accurate midrange response for cleaner, more realistic sound. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use rubber surrounds.

Midrange: The speaker has a 4" midrange driver mounted above the tweeter. Like the woofers, the midrange uses a rubber surround.

Tweeter: The speaker has a 3/4" M.M.D. dome tweeter that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes.

Waveguide: The P362's tweeter utilizes an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response, no matter what part of the room you're in.

Crossovers: The speaker features a 3-way crossover system with crossover frequencies at 350Hz and 3300Hz. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.

Matching System: The P362 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Primus line, so a complete matching system can be built.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Mounting Options

Outboard/Inboard Feet: The speaker comes assembled with attractive silver outboard feet. If desired, you can replace them with the supplied, less visible, black inboard feet. The feet can be changed with the use of a handheld Phillips-head screwdriver. The overall width is approximately 15/16" less, and the overall height is approximately 1/4" less when the black, inboard feet are used, compared to the outboard feet.

great speaker and customer service

Written By jb, Alabama on Saturday, June 09, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wanted a good stereo system, not concerned about an AV system, so after researching, picked these p362's as they were less expensive that the p363's with the same specs. Did not want to have to purchase a sub woofer at the present time. I did have a problem with one speaker and Crutchfield did not have any more to replace, but they took care of the problem at no expense to me. I was so impressed with the service I returned the sony AV receiver I had purchased and ordered a DENON avr1912 receiver with airplay from Crutchfield. The sound is impressive and I have no desire for a sub woofer as the speakers have two woofers in each. For under $700. I have an great sound system. I have heard 4-5 thousand dollar systems and in my opinion, I prefer what I have. Hats off to Crutchfield and the service they provided me. (Did have to purchase a bridge to tie into my modem which is on a different level in the house. Went ahead and replaced the 7 year old modem I had Cand now the Iphones work much faster!)
Pros:
Clear crisp sound, can hear every instrument in song.
Cons:
None, I even prefer the looks of the 362's over the 363's as dust or dog hair from floor will not get on the grills as easily

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crystal clear highs, decent lows. Dollar for dollar a great set of speakers. For less than $500 you get great sound and great looks.
Pros:
It hits the high notes very well. Very efficient - you don't need a high power receiver to make these guys sing.
Cons:
Bass comes up somewhat short, but with a separate powered sub who need it.

Very Good Speaker System

Written By Frank, Brandywine, MD on Wednesday, March 07, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Infinity Primus P362 is in my opinion, a Very Good Speaker System. I am currently using it in a Home Theater set up with a, Infinity CS350 center channel, a pair of Infinity OWS-1 real channel on walls, and a infinity PS212 sub. The only thing that I can say, that is not very good, is that, the high frequencies are a bit edgy, for my ears. This can be corrected quite easily by trimming down the high frequencies by about 2 db. These speakers are quite efficient, and will do quite well in a large room. The price point is beyond good. It cannot be beat for value. This speaker in my opinion, falls a step below some of the best, so that is why I gave it 4 stars. Value wise, it is a 5 Star Speaker. Crutchfield, in my opinion, as always, is a 5 Star Online Merchant.
Pros:
Very Good Efficient Speaker. Good in Large Rooms. Value wise-5 Star.
Cons:
Treble a little bright & edgy for me. Need too trim back about 2 db.

Shockingly Powerful

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers Match with P 153 surrounds, P142 Rear surrounds, PC 350 Center, PSW 212 Sub, and Denon AVR 3310, Are seamless together. The Mid bass to the highs are High impact without distortion. My movies to just listening to a cd are more alive. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who can't afford to go over $600 a speaker. Small foot print needed for them is another bonus. I am completely Happy.
Pros:
Best birthday present ever. Crystal clear in all ranges and music. Small foot print on floor. Hearing new things in Hd audio I didn't hear before, from the smallest piece of glass falling to every noise of Optimus Prime transforming.
Cons:
Wish I had them for surrounds, need more birthdays. I nothing bad to say about them

I am using these just for stereo listening and the detailed highs and midrange are great. If you like your bass deep or use these as a home theater setup, get a subwoofer. Otherwise, I like the way they sound just as they are and at a great price on sale @ Crutchfield.
Pros:
Good sound for the money.

Well worth the price and more

Written By Justin, Mikwaukee, WI on Sunday, January 22, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice speaker. Awesome speaker for the price. I replaced a pair of 21 year old Technics which still work nicely, but at 21 years old it was time to upgrade. They sound really good and look awesome in black..which matches the rest of my gear. Also bought PC250 center channel, PS28 subwoofer, and Onkyo TXNR609 receiver. Our room is large and the floors are wood, and all this together sounds pretty good. Glad I went with these speakers.
Pros:
Awesome bass. Heavy and solid...very well made. Great sound.

Amazing

Written By Jay, Central KY on Friday, December 23, 2011

I purchased these Infinitys as an upgrade from some ANCIENT Scotts. I am blown away at how well they handle power and stay clear. I do think they lack low range punch, but I listen to Hip/Hop and expect a TON of bass. I do have an Infinity sub that covers lows, but you may not. These components are amzing and well worth the price. The clarity is unexpected at this price point, and I would reccomend to anyone without hesitation; as long as you have a sub if your looking for knockdown lows.

Paired with a Pioneer VSX-1021 7.1, Infinty Primus P350, Infinity Primus P162's, and an Infinity 10'' sub.
Pros:
Great sound, Great price
Cons:
Low range sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound wonderful even straight out of the box. I can't wait to hear them after a bit of a break-in period. I was really surprised at the amount of tight, deep bass I am getting out of these speakers which have six and one half inch woofers. Incredible sound for the money. I would easily give these speakers a five-star rating.

Lets talk "Mid-high Range"

Written By MM, Arizona on Monday, October 03, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off these are not "high end "(so i don't understand when so called Audiofiles knock off ratings for a $200 speaker) For the price I can't imagine a tower sounding BETTER! They are mid-high end speakers and they sound great nice bass, clear and ROCK at high volumes. I have them running on Pioneer VSX 50 and it pushes them well. A must must must is the PC351 paired with these and your ReAdY! Don't mix and match your fronts and center!

detailed, accurate and behaved

Written By jk, Pearl City, HI on Saturday, September 24, 2011

Those are the words that come to mind describing these speakers. Something is missing though, life and emotion to the music, it is like the speakers were perfectly engineered to be as correct as possible in the price range for a computer to hear. These speakers just don't draw you in and are to well mannered for my tastes. I feel these speakers are best for classical, instrumentals, vocals, something you would listen to while sipping on a glass of champagne. I do like listening to those kinds of music from time to time but, I tend to listen to Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, and these speakers are to mild mannered to be optimal for those kinds of music.

Great speakers for the money. I can't believe how clear they sound, they are comparable to speakers that cost much more money in my opinion. I was watching a movie and you could almost hear the individual grains of sand falling in a certain scene. Amazing.

Once I upgrade receivers to really power these I feel like it will only get better. Very pleased.

Primus 362

Written By Chuck, Ga. on Thursday, June 16, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are replacing some disappointing Polk speakers. I'll have to say they sound much better than any slim tower that I've heard in their price range. I rate them 5 stars on value, and 4 on overall sound. They sound so much better than the Monitor series Polk they're replacing. I'm using them for 2 channel stereo listening. These seem so much more musical than the bottomless and topless sounding Polks. They are quite usable as stand alone speakers, I added the compact PS28 sub and it really make the overall presence and imaging come alive especially at lower listening levels. They will perform when fed enough signal too. Their definition and vocal clarity when driven hard is much better than expected from an imported speaker at this price. Overall these seem to be a real winner.

acoustic guitars sound terrific. You will not be disappointed with these speakers. I

Great speakers, good quality for the price. Cructhfield advisor Chip worked with me to
find out what type of music I listen to and what kind of floor speakers I'm replacing. I had
Infinity speakers for over 23 years. Chip suggested the Infinity's Primus 362. After some
product research I went with it. The price was what I felt comfortable with. These are
great speakers with maximuzation of today's acoustic design parameters.

Extremely satisfied with the sound from these speakers. Great upgrade from my
old bookshelves. They integrate very well with my BIC F12 sub. Only drawback
was Crutchfield was out of the PC350 matching center speaker. I had to buy the
current model PC351 at full price.

Crutchfield and UPS did a super job getting them to me ... there was a fire at
UPS's hub in Worcester MA followed by 2 feet of snow at my home. It delayed
delivery by 2 days but they arrived without damage, even the box was fine.

Frakin Amazing!!!

Written By Jim L., Monterey, CA on Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Let me tell you something. If you hook these speakers up to a real audiophile grade integrated receiver such as my ONKYO TN-807 THX certified integrated receiver and push these babies with high definition audio such as in a blu-ray movie, I guarantee they will surely impress your highly trained eardrums (I am assuming you know something about sound). Well, I don't really know why people are complaining about the bass because at nominal volumes using THX equalization it about blows the windows out in the bass department. Yea, a subwoofer does aid in the really low end stuff below 60 hertz, but who said these speakers were subwoofers. Get a REAL receiver to drive them and then draw your conclusion as I have!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers mainly because of the good reviews I read here. I was on a limited budget and also had very little space so I had two strikes against me already. None of the big box stores here carries these so I could not audition them. Thats ok because Cruthchfield will take them back no questions asked plus free shipping how can I go wrong. But I needed big sound and big bass without a subwoofer. All the reviews said bass was big, man they are not kidding these babies pump out bass and with real clear crisp highs. I am old school and have them hooked up to my Marantz 2285 and they sound sweet even at low volumes. You will not be disappointed. Also I must say that Crutchfield went over and above the call of duty in customer service. Listen to a guy who sweated this out if your on the edge about these GO FOR IT you will be happy AND Crutchfield will get you the P363's which are that latest version for the same price. Do it my friend, we did all the work for ya. enjoy,

Great Speakers

Written By Dan, Lititz, PA on Thursday, August 19, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought the P362 speakers along with the P250 center two months ago. I compared alot of different speakers before I bought these, Klipsch, Polk, Definitive. Decided to go with the Infinitys. WOW! After they got broken in these sound great. I hear things in movies I didn`t hear before. Music sounds incredible so much detail, and well balanced highs and lows. These speakers are a must have, they sound as good or better than speakers costing twice as much.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been waiting to add my Infinity P362's to my other three Infinity speakers in my home theater/music system and baby it was worth the wait. The sound - incredible! I love my music and now I love it even more. The P362 has a sound that is incredible at low or rocking levels - no distortion. Life is great and now it is even greater with my matched Infinity system.

Bought the whole set!!!

Written By James, Frenchtown, NJ on Thursday, June 10, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased the P362's along with the PC350 center channel and P 162 for the rear. I also Have the PS212 powered sub. I am driving them with an ONKYO TX-SR805. My problem was that my room is very large approx. 20'x30' with 19ft ceilings. Let me tell you this speaker set is absoutely amazing. It fills the room and pretty much the house with incredible sound. The first movie I watched was "Avatar" (ok not the greatest movie of all time) but the effects and sound were awesome. I should let you know that I replaced an older set of Thiel CS1.2's with Klipsch center and rears with these and am not in the least disapointed. My room finally came alive with sound. Thank you Crutchfield, my problem has been solved.

I love these speakers!

Written By Dan, Nebraska on Saturday, April 03, 2010

I've had these speakers for awhile now and they're simply amazing. Tight, clear bass and mids and highs that are breathtaking. As other reviewers have mentioned, they do need some time to break in. Hook 'em up and crank 'em and before long they start to sound awesome. Maybe not audiophile satisfactory, but for the money they cannot be beat. I got mine (along with some Monster Cable speker wire that could jump start a car) from Crutchfield for an unbelievable price and I couldn't be happier. I have these connected to a 15-year-old JVC receiver that puts out 100 watts per channel. This setup gives near-concert level volume if I want it, with a clarity that is hard to believe. If you're looking for some great speakers at a very reasonable price, you can't go wrong with the 362s.

Great

Written By Jason, MN on Monday, March 29, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very clear and loud speakers. I have these paired with Primus Theater Pack II (P142's and dual 4" center channel), 2 random powered subs, and a Pioneer 9040 reciever. This is my first non HTIB setup and I love it. I can crank them up as loud as my ears can stand and it still sounds clear with little to no distortion. I set everything to THX (80Hz crossover) specs. When I turn off the crossover (speakers set to large), I get more bass, but it sounded muddier. I would recommend crossing these over and using a subwoofer for bass. Great sounding and looking speakers for the price!

Very happy with the 362's. They are very articulate and great for jazz and classical, and
after you break them in, rock on! If you like reggae and techno, you will appreciate using
a sub. I recommend powering the 362's up. I have a Dennon 587 with 75w x 2 that
makes them sound fine but I would prefer another 20w - 25w a channel, I guess that is
next! The cabinets are sturdy, no distortion. They require more than the recommended
break in time. For the money, you will be very happy.

Infinity works for me

Written By Dan, Belmond, Iowa on Sunday, February 07, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Rating speakers is tough thing since it's such a personal preference. Someone
upgrading from junk to marginal product might rate something very high that sound
terrible to someone else that used to high quality products.

With that in mind I just want to provide a comparison. I have used Infinity products for my
home theater for the past 3 years. Fronts were the 150's, rear 140's, with a 250 Center
and 10" sub. (All Infinity products) We just bought a new TV so I wanted to upgrade the
front speakers at the same time.

The sound of my system is like night and day with the 362's as front speakers.
Everything sounds better, crisper and more full with the larger front's. I'd like to put
the150's in the rear now but can't at this time due to size limitations where they need to
mount.

I'm using a 10 year old Sony receiver at 105 Watt's and everything sounds great. My next
purchase will be a high current receiver with auto setup ability. I wouldn't hesitate
ordering these speakers as I believe they are a good value for the money.

Bought complete set P362 front, PC350 center and P162 rear. Plus had an old Sub. Sounds great with a new Yamaha RXV863 receiver - just the right amount of power. Add a 58' Plasma - sitting 14 - 16 feet from the screen, it feels and sounds even better than the movie theatre. Add the home couch comfort and food...it's home theatre heaven.

The speakers are really great for the price. Good balance, great dispersion, crisp sounds. Very happy with the combination.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have 4 pairs of speakers in different rooms, and another pair of Infinity's sound so good, I decided to buy from them again, but because these were so much less expensive than the others, I didn't expect them to sound better, but they actually sound much better! I still wander between rooms amazed at how much I like these new ones compared to my former favorites. However, my enthusiasm is boosted by the sale price; at normal price I would consider them less of a bargain but would probably still be satisfied.

I purchased these for Christmas. Everything arrived on time. Nice thank you card
arrived as well. Nice touch.

So far I am very happy with the purchase. I am hearing things in movies that I never
heard before. That is sweet! Iron Man, Transformers 2, I am Legend. I am running
these on a 15 year old receiver, so there might even be better sound if I get a new
receiver. I also bought the PC350 and am not sure I like it as much. Might be my
room, due to a tile floor.

Infinity P362

Written By Collin, Kansas on Tuesday, December 29, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Had these speakers for over a month now and overall am very impressed. These
replaced a pair of Sony tower speakers and it didn't take long for me to order the
matching Infinity center and surrounds (timbre didn't match my old center and
surrounds). At lower volumes, these don't have quite the bass of my old speakers
(makes sense, these have smaller woofers) but the mids and highs are so much
clearer with the Infinity speakers. I have cranked them up but have not pushed them
to their limits yet.
I can't believe the wide sound stage they produce; they don't appear to be directional
from left to right but they do have a fuller sound while standing in front of them (a little
too bright listening to stereo music while seated directly in front of them).
I have tested these with and without my subwoofer and I would definitely recommend
using a sub with these no matter if you are using for them stereo music or home
theater (I use them for both). I moved my sub around the room and finally found that
placing it between these speakers produced the fullest sound.
I'm no audiophile, but I know what I like... and I like these speakers. For the money, I
don't think you can go wrong. I'd give them a 4.5 rating overall, but round up to 5
based on value. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great sound on a
budget.

Infinity Primus P362

Written By Anonymous, Mark in Athol, ID on Saturday, December 05, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Haven't bought any new stereo equipment in many years and I was very impressed with these speakers. I am using them in a stereo set-up so I can't say how they do in surround sound, but you get a lot of music from these 6 1/2 " woofers at a modest price. My only complaint is (and it has nothing to do with performance) they are very difficult to move around, they are almost impossible to pick up. They should have put some finger grips on them somewhere. And, so far, my experience with Crutchfield has been A+

These are another fine example of the quality you can expect from Infinity. These are truly
amazing speakers for the cost. They sound very rich in bass and in the high notes. I
watched Terminator Salvation on these running digital surround sound and they were
beyond what I expected! I even ordered the rest of the Infinity Primus series speakers to
replace the rest of my other speakers. If you are looking for the best bang for the buck and
even if you weren't concerned with money, these speakers will without a doubt satisfy your
needs. Thanks Infinity and thanks Crutchfield!

Infinity Primus P362

Written By John, New York on Friday, November 27, 2009

I purchased these speakers as a gift for my father. I chose them over the Polk Audio TSi300's. After listening to them in a store, I felt the TSi300's lacked the full range and crispness I wanted from a set of stereo speakers.
I read a number of reviews on the Infinity P362 and they all seemed favorable. So without listening to them, I purchased them from Crutchfield. Crutchfield had free shipping and the best price and has a simple return policy; what more could I want.
Well my dad set the speakers up and was amazed. The clear, crispness of the speakers floored him. He is using a Marantz 2252B receiver (vintage for some people!) to power the speakers and primarily listens to classical music (radio and CD's). They are not being used as part of a theater system.
I have to say that I am very happy with the purchase and would purchase them again given the same requirements and the price range.
Thank you to Crutchfield on a great buy, quick (and free) delivery and a great product! I am a happy customer and my dad is a happy listener!

Written By Timothy, Abbotsford, WI on Saturday, September 12, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had mixed feelings after reading the reviews, especially some of the comments about lack of bass. I purchased these on sale and glad I made this choice . They sound wonderful compared to my 7 year old speakers I thought were good bad lacked enough bass output. And it seemed my subwoofer never made up for the lack of bass output of my two towers. These 362 towers have beautiful deep clear punchy bass. And all tones are clear and pleasing, never harsh. I would not consider myself an audiophile because of cost but have a strong appreciation for clear and beautiful sound. Can't believe these speakers for the price. And dealing with Crutchfield is always a pleasure.

Very glad I came across these speakers and bought them. What a great sound and intelligent design. Got them hooked up to my Yahama RX-V465 receiver and what a match made in Heaven. Speakers produce excellencent highs and lows. No distortion at high volume, and I love to hear the sound of shattering glass through these speakers. Sound good by themselves and even better with surround system speakers. My system is totally intergrated. The only way to go and receive such a rich sound at a GREAT price. Also got 2 good speakers and now waiting on my Bose to complete the sound I've been waiting for!!

Infinity Primus P362

Written By viperblue, KY on Friday, May 08, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are awesome, especially at this price. Great imaging, very crisp sound, you hear everything. I replaced a harman kardon HTIB system with 3 P362's, 4 P152's and a PS212, the difference is night and day. I thought the harman system sounded good, boy was I naive. I tried the pc350 center but it didn't impress me so I opted for a third P362 tower as center channel and it made a huge difference in movie experience. I researched alot before choosing my speakers and found nothing but praises for Infinity's Primus series and I will verify the praises were well earned and deserved. You won't be disappointed with these speakers.

I have always been skeptical about the credibilty of the online merchant. After a long thought, I decided to give it a try. Here, I landed on Crutchfield. Wowwww!!! the experience was EXTREMELY a pleasant. I spoke with Buzz when I ordered a pair of Infinity speakers--Primus P362. He was such a nice guy. He didn't pressure me into buying anything else but to answered all my questions with a smile. The whole transaction went very smoothly. I received the order confirmation in less than 10 minutes. Better yet, I received my tracking number in less than an hour. Wow!! I didn't expect the service to be this great. The package arrived to my house on time and in good condition. The service was so professional! In less than a week, I placed my second order without any hesitation. Although some of the products are a bit too pricy but with this kind of service I received, I wouldn't mind to pay a little more. Keep up the good work Crutchfield!!!

I ordered this Infinity pair and just am loving it. I compared them to Boston Acoustics HS 450 and it is working much better. The treble and bass are much clearer and better, not as dull as BA. The midrange is great. They are hooked to Denon AV589 and I am hooked. I decided to buy also another Denon 5 disc changer. What a beautiful world.
I listen to my music most of the time rather than watch TV.
These spekers are worth the money. Strongly recommended guys.

None better at this price

Written By Hammer, Vermont on Tuesday, September 09, 2008

I've owned much more expensive speakers than these. I can honestly say, that what little you give up in absolute resolution of detail, is well compensated for in sweet sound. No part of the musical spectrum is bad, or even close. The so called lack of bass, is only true for home theatre. For music, thes have all the bass, you need. playing these loud is enjoyable rather than annoying. Polk speakers have sounded shrill for well over a decade. Very sorry to see the staff at crutchfield to pick a pair of polk towers as staff pick.

The 362's are powered by a Onkyo 805. Once they were set up thru
Onkyo's audessey they sounded heavenly! No you are not going to get
earth shattering base out of twin 6.5's! A good Sub is needed to trash the
china in the next room. All in all these are the best for the money l/r for
amp's pushing 70-130 watts per channell. You can spend your money on
speakers costing way more, but how many of us are conducting the San
Francisco Philharmonic this year??? A Great buy for the money!!!!

These speakers are not what they're hyped up to be.

I was disappointed in the overall sound. I agree with what others have said - there is a severe lack of bass. The mid range sound reproduction is not what it should be. The strings in the orchestra sound harsh and thin. There is no depth of sound or any reminder of what you'd hear in a concert hall listening to a 100 plus piece orchestra.

Overall I would not recommend that anyone buy these. I am just sorry I didn't take them up on the 30 day money back guarantee.

I do agree with another reviewer that a subwoofer is a good idea. I have never been happier with a pair of speakers! Highly recommend them. I have not heard a genre of music yet to sound bad through these speakers! A++ Infinity!! I did get a broken plastic foot with mine. :(

Long time Infinty customer

Written By Kenneth, Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, August 03, 2007
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Back in the early 90's a bought a pair of Infinty reference series. Don't remember the exact model, but they had an 8" woofer, 4" mid and a polycell tweeter. Well, they were getting a little older, so I decided to go hunt for some new speakers. I do the home theatre thing, but still think there is nothing like a floor standing loudspeaker for music. After much research, I came back to Infinty.

So, I bought a pair of the P362's as I already had a pair of Infinty wall mount's for rear surround. As a BONUS, Crutchfield, the awesome company that they are, threw in an Infinty PS28 sub on a special deal that I came across in June. Let me tell you....these Primus speakers, coupled with the 8" sub to give a little extra punch, flat out ROCK. Heck, the P362's rock on their own.

I had heard that Infinty was making less than par speakers in the late 90's, but they must be back or never left because for the money, you cannot beat the sound you'll get from these.

Infinty has never let me down....I've been a loyal customer for years. And this isn't the first, or last thing I will buy from Crutchfield.

A musician's dream come true !

Written By Stephen, West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday, June 04, 2007
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When it comes to music I am super picky as I've played in Jazz & Classical bands for the past 20 years and have a good feel of what instruments sound like live... I purchased these speakers based on online reviews and was very skeptical I would get anything close to a live feel for the price range, but I was pleasantly surprised with the Primus P362s, at one point my jaw dropped as I heard little nuances on my favorite CDs I never heard before. My daughter is also a music buff and walked in while I was listening and commented she felt like she was in a live concert.

These speakers have a live air and presence I have only heard before in $1,000+ speakers, many times I had to check my surround settings as they have a great 3D field with instruments floating in front of the speakers at times. They have a silky, very balanced frequency range that highlights any type of music, and a tight, hefty bass with absolutely no boominess or muddiness. Jazz vocals shined here, and my classical collection was given a new life as the airy, 3D quality of these speakers opened up the stereo field of my classical recordings to provide a new listening experience. I could now hear the woodiness of the flutes, the clicks of the keys on an oboe, and even the pumping sound of the sustain pedal on piano pieces, by that time I was in tears delighted by these speakers who were able to reawaken my Muse...

Don't waste our time and money, if you are looking for a pair of speakers that will keep you riveted to your sofa and put a smile on your face, go and buy a pair of these now !!!
