Infinity

Our take on the Infinity Primus C25

The unsung hero of any home theater speaker system is the center channel. Directional special effects are impressive, but it's the center channel that reproduces the dialogue and anchors the on-screen sound to your television's picture. Infinity's Primus C25 center channel speaker includes a 3/4" tweeter for detailed highs and dual 5-1/4" woofers for solid, realistic mids — essential for reproducing the human voice. All the drivers are made from Infinity's exclusive Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.™) material, which outperforms other driver materials in this price range. M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core that enables the C25 to produce exceptionally clear and accurate sound.

The C25 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Primus line. Team it up with the Primus 250 or Primus 360 towers for an impressive front soundstage in a large-room home theater setup. Or match it to the Primus 150 or Primus 160 bookshelf models for convincing home theater in smaller rooms.

Features

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Prelude drivers, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels.

Woofers: The dual 5-1/4" M.M.D. cone woofers offer extremely accurate midrange response for cleaner, more realistic sound. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use rubber surrounds.

Tweeter: The speaker has a 3/4" M.M.D. dome tweeter that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Crossover: The crossover is a 2-way 4th order (24dB/octave) at 3000Hz.

Matching System: The C25 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Primus line, so a complete matching system can be built.

If size is not an issue, best band for your buck

Written By Tom, Santa Fe, NM on Friday, March 02, 2007

Well like most past reviewers I figured I would take advantage of it since Infinity is discontinuing the C25 and replacing it with the C25 Beta.

This center is great. I was using an underpowered center with my pair of Primus 360s for a while to try to wait for a sale on the C25 and the difference is obvious. Dialog is much more clear and crisp, which is very important to me.

I hooked mine up with Monster XP cable (same as my Primus towers) and think the performance is great. It may not be the most attractive speaker but it is great with its performance.

For the price you really cannot beat this center channel. The only drawback is the size. I had to relocate some other components to make room for this beast, which wasn't a big issue. It looks great paired with some Primus towers.

The bigger the better?

Written By SoulWave, New York, NY on Saturday, February 17, 2007

As other have said before me, make sure to check out the size of the speaker before you buy it, in case you are worried it taking up too much space in your home. This thing is BIG! And I'm not being concise enough because you would have to see it to believe it. There are much bigger center pieces of course, but ..you get my point. Getting over the size and moving on to the sound. Amazing, simply characteristic to Infinity speakers. Clear, crisp and powerful sound. Voices and sounds in movies bring everything to life. What else can I say...it's simply mind blowing considering the price and hearing out the sound quality. Just great....

Very good quality

Written By Jose, NY on Monday, February 05, 2007

The speaker produces great sound, and it definitely matches the other Primus speakers that I have.

The one minor problem that others have mentioned is that this is a big center speaker. Because of the sound it was worth it to me, but if you are worried about putting this right above or right below your TV, it may not be a good fit. You may have to create a special shelf or make sure you have space on a stand right below the TV.

Great sound, better price, BIG package

Written By Dave, Gainesville, FL on Friday, January 26, 2007

I have this paried with C160 R/L mains and the sound is wonderful. Movies are crisp and clean and I can hear parts of soundtracks that were missing with my old micro-sattelites. I bought this because I wanted to match the C-160's which have amazing reviews and because the pricing for the Primus line is so great.

The only negative is the size. Reading the dimensions was not enough to drive home how big this thing is. It definitely does not blend in to the decor. I could care less as sound quality was more important to me but if style and hidden sound is important to you, you may want to look elsewhere.

Infinity Primus C25

Written By Matt, Alpine, Tx on Tuesday, January 02, 2007

This center channel is much better then my previous one. Voices are clear and natural sounding. Purchased the C25 with a set of Primus 360's, a set of Primus 160's and a PS-12 Sub. The whole set up is great, I cant wait to upgrade my receiver now. Crutchfield Rocks.

great Imaging. Fine volume match with my Infinity Primus 360's. A little tinny, but adjustable.

Great speaker

Written By Magnus, San Jose, CA on Saturday, October 21, 2006

I was really surprised by this speaker. It really brings the whole system to life and is clean and clear. I have it matched to a pair of Primus 160 bookshelf speakers, the PS12 sub, a pair of in wall Infinity rear surround speakers all off a Denon AVR-2307CI receiver.
For this price level this is a great speaker.
Crutchfield customer and technical service was again top notch.

Just what I was looking for

Written By Iggy, Princeton, NJ on Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Nice sound with minimal coloration. I use this center channel speaker with Infinity PS-8 subwoofer and 4 Polk Audio RC60i in ceiling speakers. Even though the speaker locations are not ideal due to many cosiderations with a finished basement I am very pleased with the sound. As always, great Crutchfield service.

Great speaker at great price

Written By Kyle, Harrisonburg, VA on Thursday, June 22, 2006

Yo, I hooked this up with some primus 360's to a mediocre JVC reciever in my bedroom, and it sounds amazing. Definently rivals my polk CSi3, i would save the money and go with infinity.

Love these speakers !!!

Written By Ronald, Bradenton, FL. on Friday, December 16, 2005

I have installed these speakers as main PA speakers in several meeting halls and churchs. They have a loud but warm sound that is really loved. Add a powered sub., and they out performed the large speaker cabinets originally installed in the hall, alot better looking too.
