Our take on the Infinity PS-10

Give your system a serious low-frequency boost with the PS-10 from Infinity. A beefy 250-watt RMS amp and 10" front-firing driver provide bass kick all the way down to 34 Hz. The PS-10 makes a great addition to an Infinity Primus or Alpha series home theater speaker system. And it really fills out stereo music, so your favorite tunes will sound better than ever. The driver is made from Infinity's M.M.D. material for outstanding response, resolution, and smoothness. It's derived from the C.M.M.D. driver material used on their top-of-the-line Prelude™ speakers. The black woodgrain vinyl finish will fit right in with virtually any room decor.

Features
Inputs and Outputs Notes

Features

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Prelude drivers, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core that provides exceptional strength and rigidity for clean, realistic low-frequency tones.

Amplifier: The 10" M.M.D. front-firing cone woofer is powered by a 250-watt (RMS) amplifier.

Surround: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

Bass Port: There is a rear-firing bass port that allows deep bass with high acoustic efficiency and low distortion.

Gain Control: The subwoofer has a rotary control on the rear panel for adjusting the level of the bass.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to control the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to the front speakers. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

Auto On/Off Circuit: The auto on/off circuit turns the power amp on when a signal is sensed and turns the amplifier off and into standby mode approximately 10 minutes after a signal is no longer received. An LED indicator on the rear panel glows green when the amplifier is on and red when the amp is in standby.

Low-Pass Crossover: The subwoofer features a continuously variable 50Hz-150Hz low-pass crossover that determines the highest frequency at which the subwoofer reproduces sounds. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Line-level Inputs: The gold-plated stereo RCA line-level inputs allow you to connect the subwoofer to the receiver or surround processor's subwoofer output using an RCA patch cable. If the receiver/processor has a mono subwoofer output, you may use either the left or right line-level input. You do not need to use a "Y" adapter.

Note: Above the inputs is a two-way switch marked "LFE" and "Normal". When the switch is in the "LFE" position, the inputs are not affected by the subwoofer's internal low-pass crossover. When the switch is in the "Normal" position, the low-pass filter is engaged.

Speaker-level Inputs: The left and right gold-plated 5-way binding posts allow you to connect the subwoofer to a receiver/amplifier using speaker wire.

Good sub

Written By Jimmy, Belton, SC on Saturday, January 26, 2008

good sub for my home theater setup, I have Polk Monitor 40 right and left, Polk CS1 center channel, and Mirage Omnisat V2's for surround and sub is subtle but noticeable. It does not overwhelm the system. Crutchfield team was great about replacing speaker cover that was damaged during shipping.

Nice subwoofer. Amplifier went within a year, but Crutchfield helped with that. Sent me a new subwoofer. Awesome service!!! Have heard better subs for a little more money. Would give it a 3.5

PS-10 Excellent Sub

Written By Robert, Atlanta, GA on Friday, December 09, 2005

The PS-10 is a very capable subwoofer. Using it with a pair of Prumus 250 in the front, C25 for the center, CS 60 on the sides and ERS 110 II in the rear. Bass is tight, clean and not distorted at all. Good addition to my home theater.

Infinity PS10

Written By Mark, Columbus, OH on Wednesday, February 16, 2005

Well, much to my dismay, this Sub or any of Infinity's subs do not include speaker grills. What's wrong with this picture? Any speaker placed on the ground should definitely have a grill to protect it from stray feet, children's fingers, pets, etc. The holes are there for a speaker but NO grill. Please advise.

[Editor's note: According to our research, this model does include a grille. The photo does not show the grille, in order to display the subwoofer's driver.]
