REF-075tx tweeter

Built for power

A large voice coil and edge-driven tweeter design help these tweeters to handle up to 45 watts RMS, while in-line crossovers allow only the high frequencies to pass. Infinity's I-Mount™ system provides adapters that allow for surface- or flush-mounting, making installation a lot easier. You can use the included Starfish mounts to place the tweeters in many existing tweeter openings.

Note: These tweeters must be used with the supplied in-line high-pass crossovers, or an appropriate external crossover. Failure to do so could lead to damage to the tweeters not covered under the warranty.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install these tweeters in the factory locations.

Very nice sounding Tweeters. Included parts for a variety of mounting options. Had to fabricate a mounting bracket, but not too difficult. A huge improvement over the stock tweeters for my Tacoma!

Very nice sounding Tweeters. Included parts for a variety of mounting options. Had to fabricate a mounting bracket, but not too difficult. A huge improvement over the stock tweeters for my Tacoma!

Pros: Nice sound, even with my stock head unit.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To replace the tweeter with this product took a little fabricating. Nothing that Crutchfield couldn't help me accomplish over the phone. Thanks for the extra product support

Pros: Excellent upper frequency improvements; vocals, guitars, and horns. Really accentuates these sounds.

Cons: Only con was that I had to fabricate the housing that holds the tweeter and midrange.

The quality of this product is very good and really brings together my already established speaker system!

Pros: Great quality, had no problems with speaker itself!

Cons: The only problem is that there is no tweeter that will fit my dimensions exactly and I had to fabricate my own bracket to fit the specifications of the dash area! But it wasn't that hard to do just needs basic metal drilling and cutting skills!

This tweeter screams the highs. It comes with a in line crossover which is nice because it's small. It's not one of those textbook looking ones. It also gives all the materials on what kind mounting options you need.

Pros: Loud Small crossover Easy to install

Cons: None

These tweeters are pretty small but pack a punch..great frequency range and really pick up vocals and guitar twang and stringed instruments..may need to lower your treble but clarity is amazing...using with stock Bose amplifier and Kicker 6x9 from Crutchfield.

Pros: High end response Clarity, vocals, quick install in pillar, value

Cons: None

my set up with 4 infinity reference 6.5's did not sound right without these in the front pillars. Much clearer and more accurate sounding than the factory tweeters.

Pros: good clear sound. not much money for the amount of improvement you get.

Cons: had to rig a way to install in factory locations. but was not hard to do.

2001 Dodge Dakota
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in a 2001 Dodge Dakota with stock Infinity tweeters (my old ones were blown). Installation was easy and the "universal backstraps" that Crutchfield recommends are actually not needed IF you buy 2 rubber gaskets from the hardware store. If you buy the super cheap gaskets, you can then use the installation pieces that are provided in the Infinity Reference X REF-075tx kit. It's a very easy install in the Dakota. These tweeters do not have the best sound quality unfortunately, and I think the stock tweeters sounded better; there is a near constant hissing sound coming from the tweeters because they're so sensitive. I regret buying these and I would return them if I felt like taking the time to remove my door panels again.

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Near constant hissing sound due to over-sensitivity Not as good as factory Infinity tweeters from the year 2001

Good addition over the factory speakers.

Several installation methods to work on many applications

Written by: speed from st charles, MO on February 2, 2016

I used these to replace factory tweeters in a 2010 Mazda 6 and they fit is the factory location, however since they would not lock into place, I had to rig it with tape. I used two strips of the type of tape used to seal around windows for your home. It has a thin layer of rubberized adhesive with a thin aluminum foil. The tweeters are mounted on a small plastic trim piece near the side view mirror. It could have been modified to use a more secure mounting method, but this method is working so far.

Pros: Mounting options and sound good.

Cons: Seems pricey for a pair of tweeters, but they all are.

Great replacement for oem subaru tweeters!

Written by: Luke M from Glens Falls NY on July 23, 2015

Replacement for the stock dash tweeters in my 2015 impreza premium. This car did not have a "premium sound" upgrade. These tweeters have very good clarity and do not overpower the stock door speakers. Not too harsh or bright. I had to move the treble down a few notches from flat. The door speakers are the next to upgrade. They will most likely be Infinity (Harman). Excellent alternative to the Kicker a-la-carte from subaru. These have just as good if not better sound than kicker. I did have to gut the old speaker and use it as a mount for the smaller infinity ones. I also trimmed the inside of the grilles so they look factory from the top.

Pros: Lower cost, great clarity and responsiveness

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A fine tweeter at a fair price. I replaced the stock tweeters in my 2014 Subaru Forester and greatly improved the clarity and depth of female voices and jazz instrumentals. This is my third vehicle in which I used Infinity Reference speakers, and I've been pleased by all.

Pros: Value, quality, variety of mounting options, sound great with OEM head unit (7-8 watts?)

Cons: None, but some facility with tools is helpful.

GREAT Speakers and tweeters!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I received my speakers and tweeters within two day. Box came in great shape. I drive a 09 Honda civic. It took about 30 mins to install all speakers. Turned them on and realized that I had made the right choice on speakers. The bass sounds amazing and is still clear as can be. I suggest these to anyone looking to buy top of the line quality speakers. 2 thumbs up!

Pros: Sound great. Easy install. Ship fast.

Cons: None at all!

1997 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sounding speakers, installed them on my 97 Ford Ranger, takes an experienced installer, but piece of cake if you are one. I only wished that the instructions save me a little bit of time finding the correct hole saw. Otherwise, great sounding speakers, cross-overs are compact enough to allow me to mount them to inside the door panel nicely, and was able to easly splice them to the existing wires.

Pros: fairly easy install, sounds great, and great price

Cons: instructions could be made a little easier with dimension of required tools to help save time during installation. Although the cross-overs were compact, I remember the days of using certain capacitors to get tweeters to perform well, but thought that the cross-overs could be made even smaller now-a-days.

Tweeters

Tweeter Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

In-line: Each tweeter has an in-line 2.5 kHz high-pass crossover.

Connections: Each crossover has 23" input leads and 33" output leads. The output leads are terminated with female quick-slides (that mate to the male quick-slides on the wire attached to the tweeters) and the input leads have bare wire.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Length: 2.55"
  • Width: 0.95"
  • Height: 0.91"

Specifications

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 075tx speakers at 45 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 75 watts RMS.

The Chevy Volt can use 3/4" tweeters held in place with hot glue. Due to where the Bose system crosses over, they also need to have a low frequency capability (low for a tweeter). 2,500Hz should be low enough. The sensitivity should also match well for a stock sound system. [ Henry  Mar 13, 2016 ]
