 REF-5002ix 5-1/4Designed for more clarity

Do you want to hear the details you've been missing in your car's sound system? You'll enjoy exceptional clarity from Infinity's Reference X Series REF-5002ix 5-1/4" speakers. Infinity's UniPivot design allows you to aim each textile, edge-driven tweeter toward your ears, so you enjoy excellent stereo imaging even if the speakers are mounted way down low in your doors. Each tweeter features a level control switch so you can boost the brightness to your taste.

Larger woofer for more bass

The REF-5002ix appeals to bassheads too, with tough polypropylene woofers and durable hi-roll rubber surrounds that deliver strong low-frequency performance. Each Plus One+ woofer sports a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's smooth and accurate highs.

Great for any power supply

You can power these speakers with up to 45 watts of RMS power — they'll work great with an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance. Grilles are included along with Infinity logo badges that can be attached to your factory grilles.

Product Highlights:

  • 5-1/4" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • Plus One+ polypropylene woofer cone with hi-roll rubber surround
  • 1" UniPivot edge-driven, textile dome tweeter
  • True Four Ohm Impedance technology: speaker's 3-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load
  • compatible with virtually all factory or aftermarket car stereos
  • power range: 5-45 watts RMS (135 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 67-21,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 92 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-5/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

2014 Ford Fusion
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just finished the install in a 2014 Ford Fusion, 6.5 speakers up front, 5's in the back doors. So far I'm wildly disappointed, but this may be due to the foam inserts that I purchased with them. They can apparently rob the speaker of air needed to deliver at bass. Right now I have zero low frequency response... So I have to go back into the doors and remove them before I can give a final review.

Pros: Crutchfield's customer service was, as always, exceptional. Helped with a last minute wiring question on polarity and also had some helpful advice on the poor sound quality.

Cons: The foam inserts are only needed if you're adding a sub, and want the door speakers to drive your midrange and highs, or if you have waterproofing issues in the door. This review will be updated after I attempt the foam removal.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Honestly I was kind of surprised when I pulled the stock units out and they had the same size magnet as the Infinitys. I like that you can turn the tweeters to point the direction you need them.Sound quality was decent on these.Do not expect a lot of bass from these and honestly with this size component you should not anyway.I was pleasently surprised that Crutchfield sends wiring harness adapters and 6*9 adapters with these for no charge.I got a second set of these for free on a black Friday deal so how could I go wrong.I am thinking about putting these in a junk set of bookshelf speakers in the garage as a upgrade.

Pros:

Cons: Just like anything else I think your paying a lot for the Infinity name.

Still in love after all these years...

2014 Ford Fusion
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had 5 sets of these over the years in different vehicles, and I keep going back to them for the sound, quality and the overall bang for buck. Never had a set go south on me and they have only gotten better as they moderinze with each generation. I have used them as stock speaker replacements each time, and they fill a wonderful sweet spot before making the big jump into new head untis, amps and subs. The midrange and highs are crisp and clear with almost no chance of distortion and with the aimable tweeter you can direct it where you need it as well. You get quality sound without massive money spent, and you will not be dissappointed.

Pros: -Build quality -Huge value -Great sound overall for the niche they are designed for

Cons: -Bass is a bit lacking, but that goes with the territory at this price point, size and lack of amps/subs and so on.

2013 Honda Civic SI
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers worked pretty well to fill in the sound integer back of my 2013 Civic Si as the stock system left a lot to be desired. They sound pretty good with way better bass response and of course louder than the stock speakers. Some cutting and drilling was required to install in my car. But it wasn't too bad to install. I've had Infinity Reference 6x9's in the past that were pretty awesome; so I know it's a good brand and I trust these to be very durable and last long like the others I had.

Pros: Big magnets with good bass response. Rubber surround on the woofers. The tweeters can swivel for directional sound. Just twist them.

Cons: None really.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these Infinity's hooked up to a kicker 1000-5 amp. More power than they need, but I was surprised at how much sound I get out of them at low volume. They have a high sensitivity and run at 3 ohms which helps with this I am sure. I would imagine they would be a great choice with a stock stereo system as well for these reasons. They can also handle some real power when I decided to crank it up a bit. Crystal clear and mellow at high volumes.

Pros: High sensitivity and 3 ohm resistance for good sound with little input.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Exceeded my expectations

Written by: François from Montreal, Canada on January 20, 2013

Simply... Wow! Installed in my BMW-3, I was crossing my fingers for them to be "at least ok". Although a sub would not be a total waste, the small 5-1/4 speakers have plenty of punch. But the most impressive is the sound softness and clarity. Not at all worried about potential listening fatigue. Unless you plan to throw $300-$400 on other higher-end models, go for these Infinity.

Pros: Great value, sound softness and clarity

Cons: None

Really fine speakers, coming from an audiophile, well built with very clear audio response. These are both economical and compact for tricky installations. I added a sub-woofer and amp, now they exceed any expectations I had in mind for the units. I liked the load of accessries and mounting hardware and the easy to read instructions.

Pros: Cost, performance and compact size.

Cons: None

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and increased efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Textile Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses an edge-driven textile dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot design mounts the tweeter at an angle and pivots, so the tweeter can be pointed at the listeners, optimizing the stereo image for a more uniform response. The tweeter housing can be turned approximately 315 degrees.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 5002ix speakers at 45 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 75 watts RMS.
