Larger woofer for more bass

The REF-5002ix appeals to bassheads too, with tough polypropylene woofers and durable hi-roll rubber surrounds that deliver strong low-frequency performance. Each Plus One+ woofer sports a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's smooth and accurate highs.

Great for any power supply

You can power these speakers with up to 45 watts of RMS power — they'll work great with an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance. Grilles are included along with Infinity logo badges that can be attached to your factory grilles.

I was a little sceptical at first because they didn't put out as much sound as the kicker ks's I was replacing but, after a couple of weeks and some fiddling with the head unit, I have been able to get them to a level I enjoy.

Great sound, good value

Jeremy from Southfield, MI on 10/26/2016

2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Got these speakers as replacements for the pathetic 10 year old factory speakers in the front doors of my 2006 Grand Caravan and what a difference!! Very clear highs. I can't comment on the bass since I use the high-pass filter to eliminate any bass and let the subwoofer handle it all. (Powered by the Sony MEX-XB100BT and paired with Rockford Fosgate Prime R1525X2 in the dash and the Bazooka BT6014 subwoofer)

Pros: Sounds great, clear highs

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have used Infinity Reference Speakers for over 25 years, They provide the purest sound that I have found. Crutchfield makes them easy to install and have some of the best prices I have found. If you are looking for great quality, awesome sound and easy installation, Infinity and Crutchfield are the only way to go!

Pros: Awesome sound, quality product, and easy installation.

Cons: Prices could always be better, otherwise none.

Sounds good to me!

2000 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put these in my 2000 F150 in the front doors and they sound good. I didn't realize you could adjust the tweeter direction until I had already installed one of them--you turn the tweeter and you can point it different ways. The truck I had bought had an obvious blown speaker and these sound 1000x better. Paired them with another set of Infinitis in the back.

Pros: Was able to use existing screws in truck to install, and Infiniti had screws in the kit as well

Cons: Had to use the speaker grilles that came with truck, which pushed down on the tweeter a little bit. I don't know if I'd attribute that as a con to the speaker or just the design from Ford.

Great Speakers

2001 Toyota Sequoia
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are fantastic, and sound quality is an incredible improvement over the stock speakers provided by Toyota. At the price point they are a fantastic value. Instructions for instillation were easy to follow, and the provided adaptor kit made the install flawless. I would recommend them to any one interested in up grading the sound system in their car.

Pros: Great sound at a bargain price.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little sceptical at first because they didn't put out as much sound as the kicker ks's I was replacing but, after a couple of weeks and some fiddling with the head unit, I have been able to get them to a level I enjoy.

Pros: Very crisp sound. Treble is a nice level that doesn't hurt ears. The quality looks much nicer. The woofer surround is literally the size of the bracket!

Cons: The sound is a little soft until you tweak things, I had to readjust the fader and balance a little bit to get the staging just right, but I am happy with the purchase.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replacement for sounder speakers. Crutchfield recommendation. Replaced front with same line of speakers. No problems with install. Used the factory grill to make it look like stock speakers. Sounds great.

Pros: On sale. Easy install. Improvement on sound from stock in general.

Cons: None

2010 Dodge Challenger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers with help from my advisor, Abe. My car was made into a convertible and I lost my back speakers in the process. I was looking for something with some "oomph" for a custom install into the back door panels. The install couldn't have been any easier, thanks to the extras that was included with the purchase. Now my drop top really rocks with the new Infinity speakers!

Pros: Easy to install. Great replacements for the factory Boston Acoustics that was removed. Handles all the power that my system throws at it and sounds great!

Cons: None so far.

Blown away by these little speakers!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can't believe I almost chickened out because I was afraid to do the install myself. Watched a few YouTube DIY videos and it was as easy as it looked. The speakers were a perfect fit just as Crutchfield described. This car still had the original speakers in the front and the constant vibrations were getting my nerves. The sound difference was unbelievable. I should have done this a year ago.

Pros: Clarity. Bass exceeded my expectations after reading other reviews. Incredible value.

Cons: None

Motorhome upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They are a definite upgrade from the stock speakers that came in my motorhome. They fit the hole that was already cut ou. Less than a half hour installation

Pros: Fit perfectly, easy install

Cons: Could not fit a bigger speaker without remodeling(bigger hole, cutting leather or boxing above old hole)

Not worth the money

Just installed

Jestracer from Kennewick WA on 12/22/2015

2014 Ford Fusion
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just finished the install in a 2014 Ford Fusion, 6.5 speakers up front, 5's in the back doors. So far I'm wildly disappointed, but this may be due to the foam inserts that I purchased with them. They can apparently rob the speaker of air needed to deliver at bass. Right now I have zero low frequency response... So I have to go back into the doors and remove them before I can give a final review.

Pros: Crutchfield's customer service was, as always, exceptional. Helped with a last minute wiring question on polarity and also had some helpful advice on the poor sound quality.

Cons: The foam inserts are only needed if you're adding a sub, and want the door speakers to drive your midrange and highs, or if you have waterproofing issues in the door. This review will be updated after I attempt the foam removal.

Infinity 5.25" apeakers

Why knot from Illinois on 12/12/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Honestly I was kind of surprised when I pulled the stock units out and they had the same size magnet as the Infinitys. I like that you can turn the tweeters to point the direction you need them.Sound quality was decent on these.Do not expect a lot of bass from these and honestly with this size component you should not anyway.I was pleasently surprised that Crutchfield sends wiring harness adapters and 6*9 adapters with these for no charge.I got a second set of these for free on a black Friday deal so how could I go wrong.I am thinking about putting these in a junk set of bookshelf speakers in the garage as a upgrade.

Cons: Just like anything else I think your paying a lot for the Infinity name.

Still in love after all these years...

2014 Ford Fusion
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had 5 sets of these over the years in different vehicles, and I keep going back to them for the sound, quality and the overall bang for buck. Never had a set go south on me and they have only gotten better as they moderinze with each generation. I have used them as stock speaker replacements each time, and they fill a wonderful sweet spot before making the big jump into new head untis, amps and subs. The midrange and highs are crisp and clear with almost no chance of distortion and with the aimable tweeter you can direct it where you need it as well. You get quality sound without massive money spent, and you will not be dissappointed.

Pros: -Build quality -Huge value -Great sound overall for the niche they are designed for

Cons: -Bass is a bit lacking, but that goes with the territory at this price point, size and lack of amps/subs and so on.

Good speakers

Steve from Gastonia, NC on 5/10/2015

2013 Honda Civic SI
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers worked pretty well to fill in the sound integer back of my 2013 Civic Si as the stock system left a lot to be desired. They sound pretty good with way better bass response and of course louder than the stock speakers. Some cutting and drilling was required to install in my car. But it wasn't too bad to install. I've had Infinity Reference 6x9's in the past that were pretty awesome; so I know it's a good brand and I trust these to be very durable and last long like the others I had.

Pros: Big magnets with good bass response. Rubber surround on the woofers. The tweeters can swivel for directional sound. Just twist them.

Cons: None really.

Infinity Reference 51/4"

Fellmeth from Utah on 1/12/2015

1999 Jeep Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these Infinity's hooked up to a kicker 1000-5 amp. More power than they need, but I was surprised at how much sound I get out of them at low volume. They have a high sensitivity and run at 3 ohms which helps with this I am sure. I would imagine they would be a great choice with a stock stereo system as well for these reasons. They can also handle some real power when I decided to crank it up a bit. Crystal clear and mellow at high volumes.

Pros: High sensitivity and 3 ohm resistance for good sound with little input.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Exceeded my expectations

François from Montreal, Canada on 1/20/2013

Simply... Wow! Installed in my BMW-3, I was crossing my fingers for them to be "at least ok". Although a sub would not be a total waste, the small 5-1/4 speakers have plenty of punch. But the most impressive is the sound softness and clarity. Not at all worried about potential listening fatigue. Unless you plan to throw $300-$400 on other higher-end models, go for these Infinity.

Pros: Great value, sound softness and clarity

Cons: None

Hands-on research

Product Research

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and increased efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Textile Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses an edge-driven textile dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot design mounts the tweeter at an angle and pivots, so the tweeter can be pointed at the listeners, optimizing the stereo image for a more uniform response. The tweeter housing can be turned approximately 315 degrees.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 5002ix speakers at 45 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 75 watts RMS.
