Larger woofer for more bass

The REF-8602cfx appeals to bassheads too, with tough polypropylene woofers and durable hi-roll rubber surrounds that deliver strong low-frequency performance. Each Plus One+ woofer sports a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's smooth and accurate highs.

Great for any power supply

You can power these speakers with up to 60 watts of RMS power — they'll work great with an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and increased efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Textile Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses an edge-driven textile dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot design mounts the tweeter at an angle and pivots, so the tweeter can be pointed at the listeners, optimizing the stereo image for a more uniform response. The tweeter housing can be turned approximately 315 degrees.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 8602cfx speakers at 60 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 125 watts RMS.

Customer Q&A

Q
I recently bought these speakers, but I have not installed them yet. I see that they are 3 ohm, and the product highlight description says, True Four Ohm Impedance technology: speaker's 3-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load. The owner manual for my Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS says not to connect 3 ohm speakers to it. So my question is, can I use these speakers with the pioneer car stereo? Thanks!

Q
I purchased the Infinity 8602 speakers,I'm wandering about the little button on the front of the speaker, what does it do for me for sound quality?

it boosts the tweeter output

I think it makes the highs higher. Sounds great. The speakers have very little low end. Have them with subs and they sound great.
william m  Nov 28, 2015

It increases/decreases the treble "loudness" by 3db. Adding +3db makes the higher end seem brighter, and may improve imaging. Some systems are too bright and reducing it -3db helps tone it down and makes the higher frequencies more bearable. It all comes down to listener preference. Hope this helps!

It increases the db level of the tweeter by 3 I believe. That way if you need it a little louder you can do that instead of messing with the head unit. You can also rotate the tweeters.
kane  Nov 27, 2015
A
I believe that the little button is to raise the decibel level up or down. I believe it only has 3 levels. If you listen to the speaker really closely and hit the button a couple of times you'll be able to hear the difference and pick what you like best.
russell  Nov 27, 2015
A
There's a switch that turns on the tweeter. Should you need a little more "high end" to your sound, try turning this on. On many of these Infinity speakers you can also "aim" the tweeter for best sound.

That's an excellent question I'm afraid I can't answer it though because I have the speakers professionally installed in my doors and in the rear so I'm not sure what I will tell you that I'm still happy with the sound and how it worked out so hopefully you can talk with them about what this button does for you Enter an answer to this question.

Q
So is there a preferred way of installing the system if you piece meal it..buying and installing the speakers first to the stock radio or vice versa..if your doing the install will you need to redo the connectors from speakers to radio twice or no?

A
My opinion is it depends on your budget and the complexity of the install in your car. Speakers are usually a good first thing to do. They're usually the easiest thing to do too. If you buy from Crutchfield you will get connectors that match the new speakers to your vehicles existing connectors. When you replace the radio it will not affect the speaker install.
rick  Jun 26, 2014
A
The radio sends music through your car's stock speaker wires. The speakers are connected at the other end. If you install speakers you won't have to mess with them again in order to install an upgraded radio. Connectors should not need to be redone.

I installed 4 speakers in my 2011 GT500 Mustang. Simple remove the old plug the adapter in to factory wiring and install speaker in the original location. Sound is fantastice. Hope this helps.

i installed (4) of the Infinity speakers in the doors along with a under back seat powered sub box for my specific truck. As far as the speaker connection, the speakers come with connectors they recommend for splicing into the factory wiring one time at the speaker location. i opted to solder the speaker connection to avoid loose connections latter. Whichever you decide, just make sure to install the factory positive to the correct speaker terminal.

I bought them for my son in laws truck. He installed them himself, without a problem. Crutchfield info was very helpfull. He likes loud music, and he is happy with these speakers. My take on hearing these was very good imaging and clarity, with adequate bass. I believe the bass response would improve dramatically with a "cleaner" and more powerfull head unit. Hope this helps.

I have them installed with a factory head unit the bass is ok way better than stock and very clear vocals.

I'm not sure how they sound on a factory deck a far as bass. I have them on a touch screen pioneer but I can tell u that with infinity the sound is clean and crisp and they are hard to beat. So I can tell u I am satisfied with my purchase and when I get a new truck I will not put anything but infinity in my vehicles.

I'm as anxious to know the answer as you are but due to the cold and snowy winter I've not been able to install them yet.

They have crisp highs and decent mid. The bass is okay, but I probably wouldn't be happy with the bass from these alone.

BTW, how did they sound before you added the SUB?

I've got a 2013 xlt and they sound awesome! I added a kicker hideaway sub to add more bass.
