 REF-8602cfx 6Designed for more clarity

Do you want to hear the details you've been missing in your car's sound system? You'll enjoy exceptional clarity from Infinity's Reference X Series REF-8602cfx 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers. Infinity's UniPivot design allows you to aim each textile, edge-driven tweeter toward your ears, so you enjoy excellent stereo imaging even if the speakers are mounted way down low in your doors. Each tweeter features a level control switch so you can boost the brightness to your taste.

Larger woofer for more bass

The REF-8602cfx appeals to bassheads too, with tough polypropylene woofers and durable hi-roll rubber surrounds that deliver strong low-frequency performance. Each Plus One+ woofer sports a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's smooth and accurate highs.

Great for any power supply

You can power these speakers with up to 60 watts of RMS power — they'll work great with an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Product Highlights:

  • 6"x8" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • Plus One+ polypropylene woofer cone with hi-roll rubber surround
  • 1" UniPivot edge-driven, textile dome tweeter
  • True Four Ohm Impedance technology: speaker's 3-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load
  • compatible with virtually all factory or aftermarket car stereos
  • power range: 5-60 watts RMS (180 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 49-21,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 93 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-7/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Just put these in the front doors of my 2005 F150 to replace a blown factory speaker. Great sound! Will get a second pair to go in the rear doors next month. Easy install with the included wiring harness and clear directions from Crutchfield. I highly recommend these speakers if you like crystal clear sound with great separation.

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Had to cut off the extra mounting tabs around the rim of the speaker to fit in the doors. Used a hack saw but bought some tin snips for when I install the rear door speakers.

Cons: A bit on the high mid end.

2002 Ford F-350
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these speakers along with a Clarion NX605 head unit as an upgrade to my factory F350 system. They were an easy install, direct replacement to the factory equipment even using the existing hardware. Sound quality is outstanding and their adjustable dome tweeters really make a difference in the crew cab of my truck. I can now hear the high ends previously lost to the lower door factory speaker placement and cavernous volume of the cab. The midrange output had to be flattened out thru the EQ as it really punched the volume levels thru the roof! Amazing for such a moderately sized speaker. At first the bass level seemed a little flat but again a little tweaking thru the equalizer brought it to life making for impressive sound and no distortion except at he highest volume levels with the bass levels at max. If you want the rumble your seat bass effect I would recommend a sub and save these speakers outstanding upper and mid performance qualities by not pushing the massive lows thru them.

Pros: Great sounding full range speakers. Like the adjustable tweeter capability. Durable construction and easy install.

Cons: None noted

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed the Infinity Reference 8602cfx speakers in My 2011 Mustang GT front door location and they transformed the overall Sound! For the first time in 4 years I can hear the Mid-range and Highs clearly! Factory front speakers are a joke, no magnet structure and they just sounded under powered to me. My Shaker 500 system at mid to higher volume levels would just drown out the cheap factory speakers! I always had to lower the Bass levels to accommodate those factory speakers so I could hear the mid-range and higher frequencies . Not any more! The 8602cfx for my ears was the Fix and I only wish I had done this years ago.

Pros: Super clear mid-range! Getting more volume and clarity out of the Factory head unit. adjustable tweeter level..

Cons: None!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my third set of Infinity speakers (in three different vehicles), and, as I've come to expect, the performance and value are amazing. I'm hearing instruments in my music that simply weren't being rendered by my factory speakers, most of my music sounds like the band is in the cab of my truck with me, and I can turn the volume up quite a bit with no distortion.

Pros: Quality, ease of installation, value, performance.

Cons: A little lacking in bass compared to my Infinity Kappas, but once I installed my subwoofer, the sound is perfect.

Compared to the factory speakers, these are awesome! They have nice crisp sound, good bass, and you can aim the tweeters! Also, you can "add" 3 db of highs through the tweeters with a pushbutton on the front...

Pros: They were just what I wanted at a decent price.

Cons: They didn't come with grills (and I'm not too sure if that's the new normal).

2004 Mercury Mountaineer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation into '04 Mountaineer was super simple with included MasterSheets. First installed with tweeters angled up and +3db tweeter switch "on" but found that highs were overly bright and somewhat beaming. Switched 6x8's around so tweeters were facing slightly down and turned tweeter switch to "0" and overall sound is clear and balanced. Have crossed over to run +40hz with 50 watt/channel USA Acoustics amp and will drive clean to a high volume without distortion or harshness.

Pros: Perfect fit, very good sound overall quality, with adjustable highs and good bass. In fact will thump quite nicely with the right input. Decent sized rolled rubber surround helps with this. Also included wiring adaptors and included screws and clips make installation less than 10 minutes per door max.

Cons: Even though rated at 93db and 3 ohms, speakers are only marginally more efficient than stock Ford speakers. I was hoping for a more noticeable increase to pull the soundstage more forward.

Infinity Reference X REF-8602cfx / Solid Speaker

Written by: Kclinton59 from Washington on April 7, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As a long Infinity speaker buyer was excited to see what these speakers would sound like in my Ford Expedition. I have to say I was impressed but not overwhelmed. They are extremely solid in the mids almost to a default. It tends to drown out the tweeters almost muffling them to a degree. Bass is solid with a punch but won't overwhelm you. I also installed Pioneer TS-A6885R's. I tried the Infinity's up front and the Pioneer's in the rear. Again the Infinity's mids just dominate the sound. For S&G's I swapped one rear and one front crossing the speaker setup (Infinity LF & RR, Pioneer RF & LR). To my amazement sound was extremely good. The mids of the Infinity's and the overall good reproduction of the Pioneers work great. I am using the factor HU and do have a sub in the rear so there is just enough bass to work well in this scenario. Bottom line, Infinity's are very good speakers and you will not go wrong but make sure to add, at a minimum, subwoofer to round out the bottom end of your sound environment. The Pioneer's in my scenario were a great match.

Pros: Solid mids and highs. Bass has punch but will not rattle your windows or knock you out of your seat. Don't forget your sub. Great overall speaker.

Cons: At this point none. Just don't expect to blown out of your car with these speakers. Just enjoy how solid sounding they are.

Very nice product. I decided to purchase Infinity again, first purchace nearly 20 years ago for Infinity 152's for my home speakers. Quality is still there. These have completely upgraded the audio in my 99 F250. Looking forward to replacing the head unit to get the most out of them. I already had an amp and a name brand subwoofer installed and these stepped it up a notch. My money was well spent!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have a new 2014 Ford F-150 Super cab........ and I don't know when Ford will get the message that their $8 china made speakers are absolute crap! After paying that much for the truck, I expected better......... however, after installing these Infinity's's a world of difference. I did not upgrade the standard receiver unit because of all the integration that comes with it and I am unsure of how to do it. But these speakers easily place at twice the volume with clarity and NONE of the boominess that the original speakers had. Installation was very easy with Crutchfield's instructions and their install kit. Just be sure that you hear the "click" when connecting the Crutchfield wiring adapter to the original Ford speaker cable harness. I had to take off the door panel one more time after I installed it the first time, (because I didn't full seat the speaker wire harness adapter connection). But once that was done, the second door took no more than ten minutes.......what a world of difference...... and they can crank pretty loud too, with just the original Ford head unit.

Pros: Super easy to install in with no mods and you just can't be the clarity of these things! Tilt the tweeter up and push in the 3db button on the front of the speaker before you install them and you will wonder why you waited so long to upgrade from those horrible things that come with the original truck.

Cons: None, but you may want to put on the foam rubber stick on pads (on the back of each speaker, takes only seconds) that come with them, just to keep any unwanted vibrations from happening. You don't really need them because they tighten up so good against the door, but I did it anyway just for insurance.

Purchase the speakers just after Thanksgiving 2014. I bought one pair and got another Free Crutchfield sent all the necessary paperwork speakers installed with ease. You can install the speakers without taking the door panel completely off. Just use a prop at the bottom of the panel to hold it open. This way you don't have to disconnect all the cabling for the door handle.

Installation was simple (be sure to use plastic pry tools!)

So far, they Mid's and high's are great. I have basic EQ control with my sync head, and you can't beat these. I got them on black Friday (BOGO!) but was going to buy them a month earlier even if they weren't BOGO.

Will be installing another set in my other car and perhaps adding an amp to give them more life with a small simple sub.

Very impressed with these speakers for the money they can't be beat.I've had expensive speakers and cheap speakers these are without a doubt the best performing speakers I've had they even out perform some that cost way more!If these sound horrible to you always double check phase I've made that mistake myself crossover and tune properly you'll be satisfied!

Pros: Clear, directional tweeters, efficiency is good enough to be ran off a head unit but amps are always better to reach full potential with clean amp of course.Easy hook up

Cons: ANY speaker should come with grills this could be a selling point for some people. 2ohms would be better if pairing with amp however 3 is better for a head unit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have put these speakers in a 95 Mustang, 99 Ranger Extended cab, and now a 98 F150 Extended cab. I purchased all from Crutchfield. If you like your tweeters the +3db setting should be depressed to take advantage. It really brightens the sound and that is something I like.

Pros: With the exception of the Ranger They all sound incredibly better than the stock speakers. They were easy to install and the hardware sent with them connected perfectly. The install instructions are fairly easy to follow and you do not have to drill any holes or make any modifications.

Cons: The only problem with the Ranger was with the rear speakers and that was not the fault of Crutchfield. They really rattled the rear doors. I should have purchased the recommended boxes or inserts to dampen the spaces. I know that will make the bass not have as much punch but would probably stop the rating.

2014 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers for installation in the doors and rear deck of my 2014 Ford Mustang. The speaker wire harnesses provided by Crutchfield were a perfect match, and the Master Sheet instructions were informative. Installation in the doors was easy. The rear deck was more difficult, but simpler than I imagined. Once installed, I did not use the +3dB Tweeter Level Control on any of the speakers. Originally, I installed these speakers without an amplifier. They sounded clearer to me than the stock speakers, but the bass response I was hoping for was not there. My car stereo was, and still is, the stock unit. Afterward, I installed the JL Audio XD700/5v2. Once the Infinity Reference X speakers had the power of the amplifier behind them, they sounded incredible to me. The bass response is definitely there. I can place my hand over the "grill" holes in my plastic door panel, and feel the air move during kick drum hits in rock music or bass notes in hip-hop, etc. The frequency of the speakers are quite good and they reproduce a lot of the bass frequencies quite well. If you purchase these for a vehicle, I highly recommend matching an amplifier to them. The difference is night and day to me. I also installed the JL Audio Sealed BassWedge (CS112-WXv2) to compliment my setup, and it's perfect for my needs. Even with the subwoofer in the trunk, I don't use the high-pass filter (on the amplifier) for the door speakers. They just sound great to me, and I'm completely happy.

Pros: Easy to Install, Great Sound

Cons: None

These aren't going to thump your crappy sub-compact car down the street, but they will give you a very broad spectrum of accurate and pleasing audio. I'm a recording engineer by trade and these are as good as you can get unless you're willing to use an amp and spend a lot more $$$ per speaker.

Pros: Accurate, non fatiguing, smooth

Cons: For BEST results, they really should be amped. Not bad at all from factory deck/amp though!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have read the other reviews and I just don't understand them. The factory speakers on my 2010 F150 sounded much better than these. I am using the stock Sync head unit and these speakers just sound horrible. I have had them about 4 months now so they are definitely broken in, but they just sound like trash. There is little details to the highs and mids and the bass just washes out everything. I have tried turning down the bass all the way, but the upper ranges still don't sound clear. I drive an 2008 Chevy at work with one blown speaker and the one working speaker still sounds better than the 4 of these I put in my truck. Installation was a breeze, but I just feel like I threw my money away on these garbage speakers. I spoke with the advisor and specifically said I didn't want a bass heavy sound. I've tried satellite radio, terrestrial radio, CDs, input line and it is all the same. Just awful. I do not have a problem with Crutchfield - the people are nice and professional, but I just can't get over the feeling that these speakers are refurbs or defective junk.

Pros: None. Zero.

Cons: Awful sound. Muddy bass competing with flat highs. Just absolutely the worst sounding speakers.

I am going to get another pair for behind the seats. thanks Crutchfield

Pros: quality built speakers with easy installation

Cons: no cons about speaker themselves but next time I will also get new speaker wire, factory wire in my truck is very thin and cheap better wire will improve the sound even more

Bought these to replace stock speakers in 2008 Mazda Tribute. These are a great factory replacement on a budget. No modifications were needed to install. The sound quality paired with Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS is pretty amazing. Did notice distortion at higher volumes with music with a lot of bass though. Overall I don't think you'll be dissatisfied with this purchase.

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Second set of Infinity Reference speakers I've owned. As such I knew what kind of quality to expect from the product. Great mids and highs, bass could be slightly better, but short of having subs I don't know that I've had a set of speakers perform this well, and who can argue with a buy 1, get 1 price?

Pros: Great, smooth sound, pivoting tweeters, decent midbass

Cons: Low end response(easily corrected with a sub if you feel the need to have that kind of rumble

Great soundstage for the price

Written by: BW from New Orleans, LA on December 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers surprised me by how well they performed, particularly for the price. They're not perfect, but they do a fantastic job of faithfully reproducing the intended sound.

The (not so) bad: At upper volumes there exists some distortion, particularly in the upper vocal range (picky ear). Lower frequencies normally found is lacking.

The good: Very clean, accurate sound, which allowed me to hear much more of the soundstage, with greater detail and fullness.

The notable: These 2-way speakers might not even need distinct tweeters. I've had a 6.1 channel setup with Polks and separate tweeters (+sub) for a year until this upgrade, and the sound was okay. These Infinity's do the job better hands down with just a 4.1 channel setup.

Also, tweeters have additional +/- 3 db settings to play around with. I have mine ON (4.1 rig), but I will probably disable that feature if I add Kappa tweeters because at present they sound distressed at louder volumes, and, with elevated upper frequency EQ settings you'll get a background hiss.

Sound is really fantastic for the price, particularly when paired with a powered subwoofer. Very pleased, would recommend.

I had a problem with one of the speakers not being glued properly to the speaker frame. Crutchfield was excellent and got out a new pair to me. The sound is fantastic! I'm using the stock Ford Nav/Shaker system. Note: as others here have noted as well, you have to cut off two metal tabs on the frame for it to fit.

Pros: Fantastic sound from the stock head unit. Great speakers for a great price!

Cons: They don't install themselves!

These were used to upgrade Ford factory speakers which were poor at best. They were a nice drop-in upgrade for my Ford system with Sirius radio. The stock speakers sort of made Sirius radio a waste of money, now it will be much more enjoyable. The improvement in sound quality is just amazing. I enjoy a wide range of music like 50's, 60's, 70's, Rock, The Blues and Smooth Jazz. After testing it today I think I'll be enjoying the factory radio with my new speakers for a long time to come. These were a Crutchfield Support Rep recommendation.

Pros: Crutchfield provided the excellent support documentation and nice wiring harness adapters to make it the upgrade very easy to perform.

2007 Mazda 3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

SO, my wife's factory BOSE speakers decided to start rotting in her 2007 Mazda 3 Hatchback so I was on a quest to fine the best ones. Now, the BOSE factory system does have an external amp, a tweeter in the door, and a small subwoofer, so I knew my work was cut out for me.

I had to: a) find 2 ohm speakers (these are 3 ohm, FYI) to replace the door speakers so the impedance load wouldn't screw anything up and I could draw enough power from the amp b) make sure they fit without needing extra brackets, etc etc c) make sure there wasn't going to be too many "highs" since we now how a door tweeter AND the tweeter on this.

A and B, easy to research. C? Not so much, because i couldn't find any info on whether the bose system uses a crossover on the midrange speakers.

I am also a person to ALWAYS listen to speakers before I buy them. ALWAYS. These I did not, only read the reviews.

Bottom line, buy these beasts. The audio replacing the factory BOSE is AMAZING. Absolutely amazing. I was worried the amp wouldn't be able to power them enough, but turning the system all the way up causes distortion on the rest of the system before these speakers. And they harmonize WONDERFULLY with the rest of the speakers. You can hear things on these speakers we never heard in songs before, like subtle little tones or guitar riffs. We like heavy metal, acoustic, hard rock and all of it is VERY clear.

Anyway, love the speakers. Simple as that.

Replaced factory speakers in daughter's '04 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Powered with Pioneer AVH-X2500BT and Alpine MRP-F300. Great end results with a very pleased 18 year-old who listens to classic rock, hip hop and pop. Paired with a Sound Ordnance B8-PTD to handle the low end. The system work well together and the directional tweeters in the Infinitys make a difference. Opted not to use the high end boost in the speaker.

Pros: Sound quality, ease of install, directionally adjustable tweeter

INCREDIBLE!!!!! Bought these to replace the OEM speakers in my 2012 Ford F-150 Supercab. The OEM speakers were just awful. I am extremely impressed with these speakers. As someone wrote in another review they sound much better if you select the +3db option which is a nice touch. They have plenty of good clean, clear sound with plenty of punch for a 6x8. Install time was about 40 minutes total and was very simple, even for the first time installer. I have these mated with a 10" MTX Loaded Thunderform. I also installed a remote gain adjustment to select how much thump I'm in the mood for. At a later date, I will be installing these in the rear doors as well. The sound is that good!!! After that I will be replacing the tweeters with FOCAL. To really hear the clarity of the Infinities, music from an ipod or stick is best. FM also sounds much better, but lacks the clean digital clarity. You will not have any regrets with this product.

Pros: The Audiophile in me lives again. GREAT super clean, distortion free sound.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Replaced the horrible stock speakers in my 2013 F150 STX with these speakers. I can't express how much of an improvement these made in the otherwise stock sound system. I had no problem whatsoever dropping these in with no mods of any kind. The adapters for the Ford wiring harness did not fit tight on the speaker lugs so I soldered them to the speakers. Probably a good idea regardless. Then I placed plastic tie wraps around the wires and speakers. Anyway, These speakers sound GREAT! Cristal clear. The highs are sharp and crisp. The mid-range is separate and highly articulate. The bass is nice and tight. You will not get a lot of bass with these (or any 6x8), but what is there is well defined an responsive. Additionally the tweeters are adjustable with two settings. I found that the -3db cut some harshness out of what some recordings have and better defined the mid-range. But that is subjective and that is why the are switchable. These speakers are also very efficient. Clear at low volumes and even better when driven. Even with the stock head. Overall these speakers sound great and are a huge improvement over the original equipment. I highly recommend them.

Pros: Adjustable tweeter. Drops right in with no modifications. Great sounding. Tight bass.

Great speakers, if you plan on adding a sub. The mids and highs are very clean, but they definitely lack bass. I hooked mine up to an old 50 watt alpine that I had and they sounded very clean, but not as much of that deep rich bass, my stock speakers had much more. Overall great quality though. Good, with a couple of caveats

Written by: DougVK from California on January 18, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in a 2012 Escape with Premium sound - replaced all 4 speakers (front and rear doors). The overall sound is better, but the improvement isn't as dramatic as you might expect. They are much better than the single-cone rears and somewhat better than the 2-way front speakers that come with the car. However, there are a couple of issues I discovered: 1 - The Infinities are not as efficient as the stock speakers. That's a problem because the Ford "Premium" system includes a subwoofer and (as far as I can tell) there's no way to adjust the level of the sub. So you need to turn down the bass at the head unit to stop the booming in the back, which is not ideal and probably the reason these don't sound as rich as I was expecting. 2 - After a few weeks, my speakers started cutting in and out. After some trial and error I discovered that the problem was the wiring harness adapters that Crutchfield supplies. Although they were correctly connected to the Ford harnesses, the electrical connections were not solid. I cut the connectors off and spliced the wires directly and they work fine now. Strangely, this only affected the front speakers; maybe the connectors were slightly out of spec.

Pros: Very clean sound - extended highs. Great build quality.

Cons: May not be best choice for Fords with Subwoofer - recommend finding more efficient speaker; Connectors did not make reliable electrical connection.

Great speakers and a great price. I am very happy with the sound quality of these speakers. I am running these as rear speakers through an Alpine KTP 445U amp off a Kenwood deck. Front speakers are a pair of Rockford Fosgate Prime R1682. Comparing the two I am more impressed with the sound of the Infinities over the Fosgates. The Fosgates tend to distort at higher volume long before the Infinities. After adding the little Alpine amp these speakers really came to life. Crisp highs and great sounding mids. I'm using these strickly for my highs and mids as I'm also running a Sound Ordnance B-8PT powered sub that I must say, I'm also very impressed with. All this is in an 05 F-250. It's not going to rock the neighborhood but it will definitely deaden any noise or voices that may be along for the ride with you.

Installed these in my 02 mustang not long after installing a Pioneer head unit. The install was a breeze thanks to the detailed instructions that Crutchfield provides. Seemed to get better highs out of these speakers, but as far as bass I cant notice much of a difference from what i heard i would. Maybe i am just not fine tuning my head unit to this right, very possible. The only downfall i had with these is that the spade terminal on them are very brittle and i almost broke one off when trying to plug in my harnesss. also had to use some nuts and bolts when reintalling since the factory screws were not getting these speakers snug.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced garbage factory stock speakers on F150 with stock H/U (not Sony), no AMP, no Sub. The speakers were easy to install. Mounts with screws that held the factory speakers in....this is a big deal as I had to return a nice pair of Pioneer TS-D6802R speakers that would not mount with the rather large pan-head factory screw because of the very limiting plastic bezel around the speaker. If you use a different screw, as I tried, you strip to plastic ford fasteners because a standard 8 x1" screw that comes with most aftermarket speakers has a thread that is too tight.

Pros: Sound quality, even with weak factory H/U.

Cons: Little tough to get the wire harness connections the speaker leads...but patience prevailed.

Installation was easy in both doors and the rear deck, with one exception. Both door speakers caused an interference with the power window mechanism which would not allow the windows to go all the way down. Product Research

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and increased efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Textile Dome Tweeters (UniPivot Design): Each speaker uses an edge-driven textile dome tweeter for smooth, accurate highs. The UniPivot design mounts the tweeter at an angle and pivots, so the tweeter can be pointed at the listeners, optimizing the stereo image for a more uniform response. The tweeter housing can be turned approximately 315 degrees.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 8602cfx speakers at 60 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 125 watts RMS.

I think it makes the highs higher. Sounds great. The speakers have very little low end. Have them with subs and they sound great. [ WILLIAM M  Nov 28, 2015 ]
It increases/decreases the treble "loudness" by 3db. Adding +3db makes the higher end seem brighter, and may improve imaging. Some systems are too bright and reducing it -3db helps tone it down and makes the higher frequencies more bearable. It all comes down to listener preference. Hope this helps! [ Aaron  Nov 27, 2015 ]
It increases the db level of the tweeter by 3 I believe. That way if you need it a little louder you can do that instead of messing with the head unit. You can also rotate the tweeters. [ Kane  Nov 27, 2015 ]
I believe that the little button is to raise the decibel level up or down. I believe it only has 3 levels. If you listen to the speaker really closely and hit the button a couple of times you'll be able to hear the difference and pick what you like best. [ HUNTER  Nov 27, 2015 ]
There's a switch that turns on the tweeter. Should you need a little more "high end" to your sound, try turning this on. On many of these Infinity speakers you can also "aim" the tweeter for best sound. [ JOHN  Nov 27, 2015 ]
That's an excellent question I'm afraid I can't answer it though because I have the speakers professionally installed in my doors and in the rear so I'm not sure what I will tell you that I'm still happy with the sound and how it worked out so hopefully you can talk with them about what this button does for you Enter an answer to this question. My opinion is it depends on your budget and the complexity of the install in your car. Speakers are usually a good first thing to do. They're usually the easiest thing to do too. If you buy from Crutchfield you will get connectors that match the new speakers to your vehicles existing connectors. When you replace the radio it will not affect the speaker install. The radio sends music through your car's stock speaker wires. The speakers are connected at the other end. If you install speakers you won't have to mess with them again in order to install an upgraded radio. Connectors should not need to be redone. [ JAMIE  Jun 24, 2014 ]
I installed 4 speakers in my 2011 GT500 Mustang. Simple remove the old plug the adapter in to factory wiring and install speaker in the original location. Sound is fantastice. Hope this helps. [ DANNY P  Jun 23, 2014 ]
i installed (4) of the Infinity speakers in the doors along with a under back seat powered sub box for my specific truck. As far as the speaker connection, the speakers come with connectors they recommend for splicing into the factory wiring one time at the speaker location. i opted to solder the speaker connection to avoid loose connections latter. Whichever you decide, just make sure to install the factory positive to the correct speaker terminal. [ SHANE M  Jun 23, 2014 ]
I bought them for my son in laws truck. He installed them himself, without a problem. Crutchfield info was very helpfull. He likes loud music, and he is happy with these speakers. My take on hearing these was very good imaging and clarity, with adequate bass. I believe the bass response would improve dramatically with a "cleaner" and more powerfull head unit. Hope this helps. I have them installed with a factory head unit the bass is ok way better than stock and very clear vocals. [ BLEU  Jan 29, 2014 ]
I'm not sure how they sound on a factory deck a far as bass. I have them on a touch screen pioneer but I can tell u that with infinity the sound is clean and crisp and they are hard to beat. So I can tell u I am satisfied with my purchase and when I get a new truck I will not put anything but infinity in my vehicles. [ THOMAS  Jan 29, 2014 ]
Thanks Warren. I'm trying to avoid a sub so these may be OK. [ Phil  Jan 29, 2014 ]
I'm as anxious to know the answer as you are but due to the cold and snowy winter I've not been able to install them yet. [ RICK  Jan 29, 2014 ]
They have crisp highs and decent mid. The bass is okay, but I probably wouldn't be happy with the bass from these alone. [ WARREN R  Jan 29, 2014 ]
BTW, how did they sound before you added the SUB? [ Phil  Jan 29, 2014 ]
Thanks. Appreciate the response. [ Phil  Jan 29, 2014 ]
I've got a 2013 xlt and they sound awesome! I added a kicker hideaway sub to add more bass. [ JOSEPH M  Jan 29, 2014 ]
