Infinity's TSS-450 delivers powerful home theater sound. Its front and surround satellites include a 2-1/2" mid and 1/2" tweeter, while the voice-matched center channel speaker sports the same tweeter with dual mids for clear dialogue and high-impact on-screen special effects. The 8", 100-watt powered sub fills in the bass with power and precision. All six speakers work together to create a seamless surround sound experience with movies, and they do a great job with multichannel music, even demanding high-resolution sources like SACD and DVD-Audio.

The front and rear speakers include brackets for wall mounting, and the center channel speaker features an adjustable rear foot which allows you to position it atop your TV just right.

If you have a 6.1- or 7.1-channel receiver, you can add an extra satellite speaker (or two) for even more enveloping surround sound.

    Front and surround satellites:
  • acoustic suspension
  • each handles up to 100 watts
  • 1/2" tweeter
  • 2-1/2" woofer
  • adjustable wall brackets included
  • 3-1/2"W x 5-1/16"H x 3-1/2"D

  • Center channel speaker:
  • acoustic suspension
  • handles up to 100 watts
  • 1/2" tweeter
  • dual 2-1/2" woofers
  • adjustable rear foot
  • 8-1/8"W x 3-9/16"H x 3-9/16"D

  • Powered subwoofer:
  • bass-reflex
  • 100-watt RMS amp
  • 8" side-firing woofer
  • 10-5/16"W x 16-1/4"H x 16-1/4"D

  • System specs:
  • video-shielded (except subwoofer)
  • frequency response: 39-20,000 Hz (±3dB)
  • warranty: 5 years (3 years electronics on subwoofer)

Why choose a pre-matched speaker system?

Looking for speakers that'll deliver thrilling, edge-of-your-seat surround sound? Choosing a pre-matched speaker system is one way to ensure seamless home theater performance. These systems are made up of speakers that share the same tonal characteristics — that means the sound will stay consistent as it moves from speaker to speaker around your room. Most pre-matched systems come with a subwoofer — a must-have for high-impact bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Okay folks, this is a toughie. These speakers are both awesome and slightly disapointing. I have them connected to an Onkyo TX-SR304 (325 watts, 65 watts per channel). The speakers seem to be a little tinny and thin for TV viewing, but still more than acceptable. But, as far as for music, these are absolutely awesome!! With this system and listening to XM radio on Direct TV, this combined system is fantastic. I can't get over how awesome they are for music. A-One and Top Notch! So I am stuck on how high to rate them since for TV sound they are a little short of a top grade. But for listening to music, they can't be beat for this price. I crank it louder and louder for my favorite songs and they don't dissapoint me. The Onkyo receiver, while may seem short on power at 325 Watts, brings out the most in these speakers. Very clean and full sound. If you have a good receiver to drive these-go for it!

Great price for quality speakers

Written By DanVT, Colchester, VT on Monday, January 21, 2008

I was hesitant to purchase speakers that were not black but the Crutchfield representative owned a set of these speakers and said I would not be disappointed for the price no matter what the color. Boy, was he right. They are very sharp looking speakers and perform great. Paired them with a Yamaha receiver and I am very impressed. I maybe have the volumn at 1/4 and in my room (15X20) the sound quality is right on. Sub-woofer I actually had to kick down a little since to not wake the kids each time I played them. I would not pass up this deal.

Cheap price- Big sound

Written By Peter, SD, California on Friday, January 18, 2008

The sound is great for both music and theater sounds. I currently run a Pioneer system with Dolby Pro, Neo, and THS for a room about 20 X 12. With all speakers mounted properly the sound is perfect. The only change that I made was going back to my original Infinity center channel that is a little larger so I can gain back more of my mids. With this price where else are you going to get 4 surround and a bass for under $200. With another $150 upgrade the center channel and you will be very happy. One more note- make sure you adjust your Ohms setting to maximize the deep base.

Great Little System

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wasn't expecting much from this system and was really gearing up to be disappointed. After installation I was really surprised at the big sound that came out of such a little system.

This was going into a smaller room to compliment a 65" RPTV and the sound is just fantastic. I didn't even bother to swap out the sub for my much higher priced 10" infinity sub.

For the price this system can't be beat!

Overall good quality speakers. Minispeakers, best for a smaller room, no high ceilings. Important to adjust the sound level of each speaker. I have an Onkyo receiver, very adequate. To get better quality involves spending a lot more money.

I endorse this speaker system

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased this system to make my wife happy. I used to have a true component system featuring a center speaker, Polk rear speakers, Infinity towers for left and right, and a JVC 10" subwoofer. When we remodeled the family room my wife insisted upon a smaller system that would disappear into the woodwork.

This system does it nicely.

I am running the speakers through an Onkyo receiver (TX-SO502) that has plenty of oomph.
The subwoofer (set to about 2/3) and speakers handle the load easily. I can top off the sound without distortion.

The only downside is the high treble response. I was able to overcome that by boosting the bass and lowering the treble with my equalizer. The sound is true, full, and best of all, my wife is happy.

I am running this in support of my Sony Bravia 46" HD-TV.
I recommend this speaker group as being a decent performer with no top end buzz or low end fuzz. Well worth the money.

Great for small room

Written By Ruben, Seattle, WA on Thursday, November 22, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the money this is a pretty good setup. Although the sound isn't as rich & full as the system it replaces, it does well in a small room. Our new place couldn't house the 12" subwoofer & full range speakers without making the room look too busy & cluttered. Then I saw this system and thought for the price, why not give it a shot. Pleasantly surprised ... sounds really good with a digital receiver.

Probably not a good fit for those with a large room ... but if you have a small room & want to fill it with good sound, this is one of the best buys you can find out there.

Good entry speaker system

Written By Seung, Long Island, NY on Thursday, November 15, 2007

I have used this set of speakers about 3 years.
Speakers have been paired with onkyo receiver.

This speaker system still performs better than other entry level speaker system. Nice set of speakers with the price tag (I paid around $450 3 years ago) is just amazing.

However, as I keep mentioning, this is a "entry level" system. Without considering its price, this speaker system has two major downsides.

First, paired with my low-power onkyo(45watts per channel)
and with proper settings, speakers distorts at high volumes.
Tried to pair with my frined's receiver once (entry Denon about 80 watts per channel) but it did the same thing. I don't know if this distortion will go away
if it is paired with decent mid to high level receivers but I don't think buyers
of this speaker will have that kind of receiver.

Second, there is absolutely no "bass". During past 3 years of my ownership,
I changed the placement of subwoofer time to time to see if lack of bass
is caused by improper placement of speakers. No, it was not the matter of
placement. The subwoofer's sound is more like "bang" not "boom" - It does not
produce a deep bass sound. My friend's cheap Yamaha subwoofer performes a lot better than this.

Again, with the price tag, there is really no strong competitor out there.
You will be satisfied, if this is your first set of surround-sound system.
But you will soon find its downside and would consider more decent set of

I would have give just 3 stars if its price is still $450 but it is well worth 4 stars.

these are a great set of speakers! I added these to replace some older ones and they exceeded my expectations. I added these to my yamaha receiver with ease, thanks to the detailed instructions, speaker mounts and wire. they have plenty of clear sound and make viewing my blu ray movies come to life! I researched speakers online and they recommended them as a 'best buy', they weren't wrong. I was very pleased to find out you had them, I was willing to pay the advertised price. thanks Crutchfield!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To tune them I used a scene from The Matrix where Neo and one of the bad guys are exchanging gun fire on top of a building. I was simply amazed at not only how crystal clear these speakers are, but how loud they can get and still maintain that clarity. My living room is about 12 x 12 and bring the volume to just under half was loud enough to the point that I think most people would prefer it actually be toned down a little. The sub, even at less than half volume is punchy and tight, and even if you offered me a $1000 sub for free, I wouldn't be in any hurry to swap it out with the one that comes with this package. The highs are crystal clear. In some of the gratuitous shootout scenes in The Matrix, there are hundreds of shell casings falling to the ground, and with these speakers it truly sounds like they are falling right in front of my couch.
The mid-bass does seem SLIGHTLY suppressed, but I'm not so sure I would have noticed it so readily if I had not already anticipated it. Further tuning would remedy this minor issue, but I want to stress that, at least for me (a discerning listener, but not a self-proclaimed audiophile), it's pretty much a non-issue.
In conclusion, don't let the price fool you, for a small to medium sized room these speakers are perfect. If I ever have to purchase speakers for a home theatre setup again, I would buy this package without hesitation.

I just took delivery of these speakers and all I can say is WOW. I am using them with an older 1st gen Dolby Prologic system and they just replaced the original speakers. These speakers really woke the old unit up. I have them in a 15x25 room and they are more than adequate. I think these speakers were well worth their original $399 list. If your on the fence about these speakers, I suggest you take the leap and grab them.

Great sounding set of speakers, definitely worth the price. I have two gripes, the first of which is that I couldn't get them in the charcoal color, but that's just being nitpicky. The second is the port noise from the subwoofer. It's not bad, but when the track has a bass note going and not much other music to cover it up, you can hear the air blowing through the port.

I would not consider the port noise a problem at all, I would gladly buy this set of speakers again for another room.

I purchased these out of necessity more than want. I had bought a new Pioneer receiver that could not use a passive subwoofer. I would tell anyone to buy this system. The sound is amazing for the price.

Great sound for the money

I bought these speakers as part of a full upgrade to our AV system. I like the small speakers and the fact that it came with wall mounts. I ran the wires in the wall and the installation is very nice. Having said that I will go with a flush mount solution in my next home to hide the speakers more. Music sounds good and everyone enjoys the movies played with great bass and surround sound. More then enough power for our needs. I matched the speakers to an Onkyo TX-SR603X receiver that has also proven a nice solution.

Very Nice System - Infinity TSS-450

Written By Steven, Sarver, PA on Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been using the TSS-450 speaker system for a few weeks now. I'm very satisfied with the product and sound quality. I was using a Pioneer system (VSX-455 Receiver) that I had purchased from Crutchfield over 10 years ago, but the speaker sizes were a problem in my very small living room. The small speaker size and shape makes this system very easy to place and hide the satellites, with or without the included brackets. My room layout is less than optimal for surround sound, but these speakers are still providing an acceptable full sound with music, TV and movies with nice surround effects. The subwoofer sound blends in nicely with the other speakers. I have it behind my TV in the corner. The provided speaker wire seems to be fine and there is plenty of it. I may need to go with some tan wire since I can't run them in the solid walls. The packaging was very robust and provided great protection for the speakers even with some outer box shipping damage on delivery.
Bottom Line: Crutchfield is always a good bet and I'm very happy with my first Infinity speaker system.

Not bad...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having spent a bit of time deliberating over what surround system to buy, I learned a little about performance specs. I run the 450 on my Denon AVR 1706. This setup sounds about as good as I expected from its specs and reviews except for the low end. I got the impression that this product has great bass with a strong high end--slightly lacking in mid-range. I would give less praise for the "strong" bass and less disappointment over mid-range. As a novice tinker I pieced together a 12" sub for my car, so perhaps I'm spoiled in the bass department. Yet, I can't help feeling like the 8" sub in the 450 can't pull through when you need strong lows.
However, despite my slight disappointment over the range, the sensitivity seems acceptable. I also have turned the system louder than I consider comfortable for listening and detected no distortion. If you are like me and wanted to get a good first system without crossing over to the $600-and-up systems, I would recommend this product.
On a side note, I chose Crutchfield for their impeccable review rating and was not disappointed. I will certainly come back if I have the chance.

Perfect in my small master bedroom

Written By Bob, Kingston, WA on Friday, October 20, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed the TSS-450 in my 11' x 14' master bedroom to support a 32" Panasonic wall mounted LCD screen, and 'old faithful' retired Sony STR-GX900ES receiver. I am very pleased with the speakers in all respects, and find it to be perfect for a room this size. The sub-woofer is especially pleasing, and I'm comparing it to the huge Velodyne in my entertainment room.

I took my time while waiting for the speakers to arrive to do a nice job installing hidden wall-mount and sub-woofer wiring. I drilled holes in the wall mount brackets, and ran the speaker wiring through the brackets to the speakers. This simplified installation and looks very clean.

All in all, this is a great speaker system for the price, and I am completely satisfied with Infinity, the TSS-450, and Crutchfield - Bob

Infinity fan, but sending these back

Written By Pete, Boston on Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have to agree with previous reviewers that the TSS-45Os have a great price/value ratio...but also that they probably require serious equalization.

And because my "home theater" is in a small living room, the TSS-45Os don't get a chance to get going. As a previous reviewer said, they ARE very tinny (but clear), and lack midrange (especially the center-channel). The subwoofer is amazing though, almost too much so.

So I'm sending these back, swapping for Polk bookshelves which will likely work better in the space I'm trying to fill. But having owned some great Infinity speakers in the past, I'm sure in the right setting, these are as great as everyone is saying.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use these speakers with an Onkyo TX-SR603X receiver, and purchased 2 extra satelites for a 7.1 setup. I initially followed Infinity's suggestion that the subwoofer be set to near minimum. That clearly wasn't enough bass so I set it in the middle and that's about right. At this point, the seven small speakers were clear, but seemed a littly thin or tinny. I then ran the automatic speaker setup on the Onkyo. The change was amazing, and the system sounds fantastic. Full range, clear, very complete sound. No spikes or dips in the frequency response. I am very satisfied.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they really require proper equalization. I highly recommend using them with a receiver like the incredible Onkyo TX-SR603X to make them come alive.

Great Sound for even large rooms

Written By Tom, Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006

I bought these speakers based on the reviews I have read and the price...and I am definitely satisfied. The speakers themselves aren't very big but they deliver a crisp sound that rivals their bigger brothers, for $100's less. The subwoofer packs a good punch and handles big action sequences and ambient noise well. I suggest setting the speakers at 80Hz for the THX setting. The wall brackets that come with the speakers are solid and are easy to setup. When watching a good action DVD the sound felt like it was encasing so that there was no weak spot in the sound coverage.

I would definitely up the dB level to make them more powerful if you have a decent sized room.

At the price they are listed at, you cannot get better speaker 5.1 quality.

If you're looking for a compact speaker on a budget this is a good choice. They have room filling sound even in a large room with vaulted ceilings. I lost some bass feel from the larger speakers I replaced, but they make up for it by freeing up floor space and giving a more attractive modern appearance.

The sound is crisp with excellent highs. The subwoofer is compact, but can still be felt when firing. Music and movies both sound excellent. Great value for a little price. Recommend!

Exceptional sound quality for such small speakers

Written By Daniel, Martinsville, VA on Thursday, June 15, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Im going to go ahead and say the 8 inch subwoofer is worth the price has insane low bass for just one 8 inch sub. However the surround speakers are only 2.5 inches. If you currently have bigger speakers (3 inches and up) you wont like the mid range sound these small satellites put out. On the otherhand these satellites have excellent high range sound. In other words you might have to buy a equalizer to turn up the mid range and turn down the high range. With a few tweaks and the right speaker placement this system will be all you ever need for a small to mid-size surround system.

Better than I expected

Written By Chris, Allentown New Jersey on Sunday, March 05, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed new speakers for my surround sound system. I am using a Sony STR-DE835 System with 5.1 and DTS. I had been using an inexpensive set of KLH speakers and I simply was not happy.

I read the reviews written about these speakers and figured why not try them and see what they can do. Boy, am I glad I did. These speakers are everything and even more than I expected them to be. The sub woofer is deep and clean and the satellite speakers are small, neat, and crisp. Combined, they make one of the best sounding systems I have ever heard at an inexpensive price.

I have read three complaints about these speakers. The first is that they do not take monster wire. They do not need monster wire. The wire supplied is more than sufficient to handle the sound and power. The second is that they do not take Banana plugs. No big deal there either. I know banana plugs are neat and fast, but if you do not plan to move these speakers, then banana plugs are an item you simply do not need. The last complaint is that the speaker wires are not marked. Actually they are. The grooved side of the wire is for the red connection and the smooth side of the wire is for the black connection. For $349.99, these speakers are a steal.

Excellent for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these speakers connected to a Denon 2802 (capable of DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1), and am happy with the sound. I was upgrading from two 30 year old speakers of dubious quality, so the difference is quite significant.

My only complaint is that the speaker wire that was included in the package (bundled by Infinity) did not seem to be marked for + and -, so i had to get out my multimeter and do some continuity testing.

For $350, i doubt there is a better 5.1 speaker set than this. However, after just a few days of listening to 5.1 movie and music, i can hear how much better things would sound if all of the speakers except the subwoofer were larger. (The subwoofer is more than adequate for my room.)

I recommend these speakers, but do feel the need to emphasize that i feel this is still an entry-level set of 5.1 speakers, even if it is one of the best sets available.

I have always been passionate about music. Therefore, I will not settle for second rate sound. I did a lot of research before purchasing the Infinity TSS-450 home theater speaker system and hooking it up to my Denon AVR-75 receiver. In a word, these speakers are awesome. The sound is clean, crisp, and accurate from the lowest frequencies to the highest. For a small to medium size room, paying more for larger speakers is a waste of money and space. Huge sound! Small package! Small price!
No one else has anything that even comes close to competing with the Infinity TSS-450 speaker system.

A+ Surround Speakers

Written By Kevin, Centreville, VA on Monday, February 06, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After spending 2 weeks researching a new set of surround speakers for my home theater, I settled on the TSS-450 5.1 system, and all I can is ~BRAVO~!

These are very compact, attractive satellites that provide an amazingly full, rich sound. Every aspect of my setup (Sony receiver) is crisper, fuller, and has a spatial depth that my 8 year old old speakers lacked.

I have a friend who spend over $3,000 on his 5.1 speaker system, and I must say these little babies give his system a serious run for it's money, for 1/10th the cost. Easily matches the performance of Bose cubes in sound quality as well.

Also - The mounting brackets work very well and took very little time to place and install. Did not use the speaker wire that was included, but appreciate that they came with the system none the less.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers based on the reviews of others. This is the first surround speaker system I have owned, in the past I have had floor speaker systems. Pricewise I debated buying a set of Bose bookshelf speakers, but thought I'd try the Infinity surrounds.

Pros: When I first saw the small size of the speakers I did not think they would deliver like a set of floor speakers, but they sound great, the subwoofer really fills in the bass and the whole surround sound thing is very cool, particularly when watching movies. The speakers also look great, are well made and their small size does not take up much room in my small home. In addition they come with some ball and socket mounts that are easy to install.

Cons: The wiring is everywhere and takes some work to hide. I don't think they would fill a large room as well as a small one; my livingroom is 20x15 (yea, California houses are small) and they work well in that space. I do not like the wire clip-type connectors on these speakers, primarily because they do not look like they could handle some of the heavier gauge speaker wire very well.

Conclusion: If you don't want to spend big $$, but want some great sound I recommend these speakers. If you have the extra bucks and/or have a big room to fill you may want to step up to a larger set.

Great system...but...

These are some KILLER speakers, great sound, the works. The only drawback that I found (and burned $150.00 because of) is that the speakers will not accept Banana Plugs. (I bought the monster ultra cables only to find that they don't fit).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Infinity TSS-450 platinum after researching so much about home theater speakers. I decided to get it because of the price, elegant style and because it's Infinity. I was right, never was there a dull sound coming from it. I paired it with an Onkyo TX-SR602 receiver and the sound was so pure and crisp. It could handle the highs, mids, and with the included sub-woofer - the lows exceptionally well. The system comes with 4 mounting brackets for the satellites, and the center speaker has an adjustable rubber stand so it can be pointed downwards if placed on top of the tv, which I did. Speaker placements should be taken into consideration. I mounted the rear speakers under 7 feet high from behind the listener and the sub at the corner of the room. This produced a well balanced sound that is very detailed and pleasant no matter what source you're using.

Total Speaker Solutions: The TSS-450 5.1-channel speaker system consists of four identical Sat450 satellite speakers, a matching Center450 center speaker, and a 100-watt TSS-450 8" powered subwoofer. If your home theater system is 6.1- or 7.1-channel, you can expand the TSS-450 by purchasing additional SAT450 satellite speakers (item # 108SAT450C). All of the speakers, except for the subwoofer, are magnetically shielded, to allow placement on or near a TV without causing picture distortion. Speaker wire and subwoofer cable are included.

Sat450 Satellites: The four identical Sat450 satellite speakers each have 2-1/2" poly cone midranges and 1/2" poly dome tweeters with a polypropylene acoustic suspension enclosure. The satellites can be placed directly on a shelf, or mounted on a wall using the supplied brackets. Recommended Amplifier Power Range: 10-100 watts.

Wall Mounting Options: The TSS-450 system comes with "ball and socket" wall-mount brackets for each of the satellites. Each satellite speaker has a 1/4"-20 threaded insert in the back of the enclosure to accommodate the bracket. The satellites also have a 1/4"-20 threaded insert on the bottom for use with other optional wall brackets or stands. The brackets are 2-9/16" x 1-3/4", and mount the speaker approximately 2-1/4" away from the wall. Note: For proper mounting, each bracket requires four 1-1/2", #10 wood screws (not supplied). The brackets should be fastened to a wall stud, or, if a wall stud is unavailable, an appropriate screw anchor should be installed.

Center450 Center Speaker: The matching Center450 center speaker has dual 2-1/2" poly cone midranges and a 1/2" poly tweeter, housed in a polypropylene acoustic suspension enclosure. The speaker can be placed directly on top of your television, or on a shelf above or below the TV. The Center450 includes an adjustable rear foot which extends up to 5/8" to allow you to aim the speaker downward, if necessary. Recommended Amplifier Power Range: 10-100 watts.

TSS-450 Powered Subwoofer: The TSS-450 powered subwoofer features a side-firing 8" poly cone driver in a bass reflex enclosure, driven by a 100-watt RMS amplifier. Other features of the subwoofer include:

  • Auto Stand-By: When the Auto/On switch is in the "Auto" position, the subwoofer will power on instantly when a signal is detected. The subwoofer will automatically enter the Stand-By mode after approximately 10 minutes when no signal is detected. A front-mounted LED indicates the subwoofer mode (green=On, red=Stand-By). For extended periods of non-operation, the power switch should be turned off.
  • Level Control: You can set the overall volume of the subwoofer to achieve the best blend with the rest of the system.
  • Line Level Inputs: The subwoofer has an unfiltered mono LFE (low frequency effects) RCA input for use with a receiver with Dolby Digital or DTS decoding and an LFE or subwoofer output. The subwoofer also has left and right RCA line level inputs for connecting a receiver that does not contain a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder, but has a subwoofer output. You can use both inputs if the receiver has left and right subwoofer outputs, or either the left or right channel input if your receiver/preamp has a single subwoofer output. No "Y" adapter is needed.
  • Speaker Level Inputs/Outputs: The subwoofer features left and right spring-clip speaker-level input and output terminals to allow you to connect the sub if your receiver/pre-amplifier does not have a subwoofer or LFE output. When connecting the subwoofer in this manner, you should connect the subwoofer to the receiver/amplifier's front speaker outputs, and connect the left and right front speakers to the speaker-level outputs on the subwoofer.

Manual Corrections

Crossover: The manual states in the Specifications page that the subwoofer's crossover is "50Hz-150Hz, 24dB/octave, continuously variable." There is no crossover frequency adjustment.

Line-Level/LFE Switch: The Subwoofer Connections page indicates settings for the Line Level/LFE switch for two different subwoofer connections. The subwoofer has no Line Level/LFE switch.
