The JBL Charge 2 supports Bluetooth audio streaming and Bluetooth hands-free communication, as well as a simple pairing procedure with Social mode.

  • Simple Pairing w/ Social Mode: A single button press pairs your Bluetooth-enabled device with the Charge 2. Once paired, the JBL Charge 2 will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33'). Social Mode lets you pair up to three devices at once, so up to three people can take turns playing their respective mobile phone, tablet, or laptop playlists on the same JBL Charge 2 speaker.
  • Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP 1.3): The JBL Charge 2 portable speaker streams stereo music wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled devices such as your smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, or other device. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and to view song/artist information.
  • Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (HFP 1.6): The JBL Charge 2 has a built-in microphone so you can use it as a hands-free speakerphone. Use the Charge 2 to answer phone calls, talk on Skype, or with Facetime. A long press of the call-answer button will activate the voice command feature of your smartphone (if applicable). You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to view video calls, manually enter phone number, and control advanced phone functions.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JBL Charge 2.

Passive Radiator Design: The JBL Charge 2 employs digital signal processing to generate room-filling audio from a compact speaker. Using two active 1.75" drivers, a 15-watt amplifier, and twin side-firing 1.75" passive radiators, the JBL Charge 2 delivers full-range JBL sound with punchy bass.

Rugged Design: The JBL Charge 2 features a rugged enclosure and grille for the durability that an active lifestyle demands. And it fits easily into a backpack, so you can take it from one place to the next.

Versatile Placement: The JBL Charge 2 stereo speaker plays from either a vertical or horizontal position, so you can place it in a variety of locations.

Aux Input: In addition to built-in Bluetooth, the JBL Charge 2 is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connection of almost any portable audio player with a headphone output.

LED Indicator: Clearly visible LED lets you know when the built-in battery needs to be recharged, as well as when the JBL Charge 2 is in Bluetooth listening or pairing mode.

Built-in Charger: The JBL Charge 2 is capable of recharging the battery of your Bluetooth-enabled device from the speaker's built-in USB (type-A) port. Now you don't need to carry an extra charger to keep your devices powered up. This USB port does not support audio playback.

Rechargeable Battery: The JBL Charge 2 stereo speaker has a built-in, 6000mAh lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery that provides more than 12 hours of playback time on a single Charge 2. The battery is easily recharged from the speaker's built-in microUSB port, using the included AC power adapter or a free USB port on your computer (4 hour charge time). The AC power adapter can also be used to power the speaker.

Always amazed my free shipped Crutchfield order reaches me in two days. The loudness, bass, and overall sound quality are amazing for the price. Gave one as a gift to my brother and he has the same reaction.

Pros: Battery life, portability, sound for its size and price. Works great as a bluetooth connection as well as a direct connect for an old nonbluetooth MP3 player I have.

Cons: None that I have found.

Wonderful speaker with great bass. Charge lasts for 12 hours as touted. Very good volume control with touch control + and -. Illuminated power, bluetooth and battery strength. Battery strength 1 through 5 dots shows power left and goes in a standby mode after a few seconds. Only a touch illuminates the strength again. Nice build quality.

Pros: Superior sound and looks with extremely easy controls. Nice charge cord with USB or A/C power capability.

Cons: None

Best one for it's size

Just got it after returning one of the big, highly rated wireless speakers that weighs 10 times this welterweight. This little guy is a winner; it is better hands down. Paired right up. Sound quality and loudness for something this small is nothing short of amazing. It obviously can't duplicate the sound quality of my home entertainment unit, but it is surprising good for the size. I probably need to spend some time with it to see what problems I encounter, but I want anyone who is looking for a small portable wireless speaker to stop and buy this one. You will be happy.

Pros: Small, easily portable with a long life rechargeable battery. Sound quality and loudness is excellent, considering its size. The bass is not great, but is there and you know it.

Cons: A little pricey for a small portable speaker, but I don't regret my purchase. The instructions are useless. A carrying case for this price speaker should be included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Only great things to say about this thing! Huge, crisp, sharp sound from a small, portable device. It's awesome you can charge up your phone while you hang out and listen. The only con would be that it does not come with a carrying case because you want to take it everywhere. But hey... Make one or think outside of the box and use something around the house.

Pros: Awesome sound quality. 12 hour (longest I found) playback time. Charging capabilities.

Cons: Really nothing.

This product delivers a rich reproduction of sound. I can actually see the bass playing. I love the overall clarity, and the fact it can charge my device.

Pros: The bass and cylindrical design

Cons: Should have a carry case, and speakers on the other side of the grill .

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The JBL Charge 2 has a very good sound for a small, portable bluetooth speaker. I have not tried the speaker phone capabilities just yet. I was also able to buy an inexpensive camera lens case to protect it during transport.

Pros: good sound and portable

Cons: This is not so much the product itself, but a protective case would have been a nice accessory

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We hadn't tried portable audio since the "boom box" years because small speakers tend to sound so thin. I bought this because we thought that it would be worthwhile to try since it also could charge phones on a trip we were taking. The JBL Charge 2 exceeded expectations on sound. We now use it at home too while working out or in the yard when we don't want our outdoor audio on. The charging function worked well too and got my phone going.

Pros: Good sound in a small package

Cons: Could use a case to protect it in transport.

Very Happy

Better sound, but a few flaws

Written By SixFeetDeep, South of Chicago, IL on Saturday, August 23, 2014

First off, the bass on this thing is a big improvement over the Charge 1. It is better than my FoxL, my JBL Flip, my original Charge & even better than my Big Jambox or my neighbors new little Bose. The sound quality is very good with all types of music. I personally wish it had a little more treble to it though. The Bluetooth range works very well & paired up with my Galaxy S4 instantly. Haven't tried out the group option & don't have a need for it. The addition of the speakerphone is a welcome addition but it isn't as good as I hoped. It doesn't get loud enough to hear over the sound of a car or truck! It's supposed to have 7.5W a channel vs 5W a channel for the original Charge, but mine isn't as loud as my Flip 1 which seems like I got a bad one? The battery seems to be lasting the advertised length. The ability to recharge my phone off of it is such a great feature. Very handy. ANY attempt to contact JBL has fallen on def ears. I really like the speaker except for how loud it gets & tried contacting JBL to see if possibly I got a lemon, but the fact that their customer service is awful makes me want to return it. Overall its a good speaker & I would recommend it.

Pros: Portability Sound & bass Speakerphone & group Bluetooth Color Options Internal Battery

Cons: No carrying case Speakerphone isn't nearly loud enough Overall loudness isn't as loud as my JBL Flip 1 JBL Customer Service has been horrible. ZERO response from them!

We do not show that the Charge 2 comes with a carrying case. I also checked the JBL website to confirm, and they do not show this either. The original Charge came with a carrying case, but the Charge 2 does not. [ Jeff  Dec 19, 2014 ]  Staff
