JBL Charge 2

Bluetooth connectivity and big sound

Stream wirelessly from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop or other device to the Charge 2. Two 1-1/2" full-range drivers give you clean, clear sound, with a built-in bass port to reinforces the low tones. Thanks to JBL's advanced digital signal processing, the Charge 2 can produce rich, full sound despite its compact design.

In Social Mode, the Charge 2 lets you simultaneously pair up to three devices. So you and two friends can take turns being the DJ and keep the party going.

Easy conversation

When your paired smartphone receives a call, the Charge 2 turns into a speakerphone. Its built-in microphone uses SoundClear® technology to minimize echo and filter out ambient noise. Both you and your caller will enjoy a conversation with clear, natural sound.

Convenient portability

The Charge 2 has a durable silicone coating for protection and comes with a USB charging cable and power adapter. An auxiliary input lets you play non-Bluetooth portable devices through the system, too.

Features

Portable Bluetooth Powered Speaker: The JBL Charge 2 is a self-powered Bluetooth (v3.0) speaker that is ideal for your Bluetooth-enabled devices such as your Apple iOS device, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, computer/PC or other devices. The JBL Charge 2 supports Bluetooth audio streaming and Bluetooth hands-free communication, as well as a simple pairing procedure with Social mode.

  • Simple Pairing w/ Social Mode: A single button press pairs your Bluetooth-enabled device with the Charge 2. Once paired, the JBL Charge 2 will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33'). Social Mode lets you pair up to three devices at once, so up to three people can take turns playing their respective mobile phone, tablet, or laptop playlists on the same JBL Charge 2 speaker.
  • Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP 1.3): The JBL Charge 2 portable speaker streams stereo music wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled devices such as your smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, or other device. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and to view song/artist information.
  • Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (HFP 1.6): The JBL Charge 2 has a built-in microphone so you can use it as a hands-free speakerphone. Use the Charge 2 to answer phone calls, talk on Skype, or with Facetime. A long press of the call-answer button will activate the voice command feature of your smartphone (if applicable). You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to view video calls, manually enter phone number, and control advanced phone functions.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JBL Charge 2.

Passive Radiator Design: The JBL Charge 2 employs digital signal processing to generate room-filling audio from a compact speaker. Using two active 1.75" drivers, a 15-watt amplifier, and twin side-firing 1.75" passive radiators, the JBL Charge 2 delivers full-range JBL sound with punchy bass.

Rugged Design: The JBL Charge 2 features a rugged enclosure and grille for the durability that an active lifestyle demands. And it fits easily into a backpack, so you can take it from one place to the next.

Versatile Placement: The JBL Charge 2 stereo speaker plays from either a vertical or horizontal position, so you can place it in a variety of locations.

Aux Input: In addition to built-in Bluetooth, the JBL Charge 2 is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connection of almost any portable audio player with a headphone output.

LED Indicator: Clearly visible LED lets you know when the built-in battery needs to be recharged, as well as when the JBL Charge 2 is in Bluetooth listening or pairing mode.

Built-in Charger: The JBL Charge 2 is capable of recharging the battery of your Bluetooth-enabled device from the speaker's built-in USB (type-A) port. Now you don't need to carry an extra charger to keep your devices powered up. This USB port does not support audio playback.

Rechargeable Battery: The JBL Charge 2 stereo speaker has a built-in, 6000mAh lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery that provides more than 12 hours of playback time on a single Charge 2. The battery is easily recharged from the speaker's built-in microUSB port, using the included AC power adapter or a free USB port on your computer (4 hour charge time). The AC power adapter can also be used to power the speaker.

I haven't compared it to it, but this is a 5* for me. Great sound, nice design, good weight. I'm on top of technology, and this is a good portable speaker.

This speaker is the first and only bluetooth speaker I've ever had and I love it. It's loud and clear and very easily can be moved around, Sorry I can't really answer your question. For the money and to get a good quality speaker you can't beat this speaker in my opinion
james  Jan 21, 2015
A
Dont know the klipsch gig. But this jbl charge 2 has plenty of bass and also very loud. Before i bought this i had the bose soundlink. I think this sounds better.
danny  Jan 21, 2015
Q
I want to use this in my company vehicle. Is it loud enough?
kris  Dec 08, 2014

A
Yes, I was amazed at how loud this speaker is for its size. It sounds really good. You are not going to have a house party with it but for one room and a few friends it works great. I imagine it would sound well in a car. Depending on how you place it against a wall or in the open you can really make the bass sound good.
brad  Dec 09, 2014
A
Depends on how loud the truck is. I use it at home or in my garage or on the golf course. In the car might be pushing this a bit.
chris  Dec 09, 2014
A
Should be plenty loud enough unless you want people 3 blocks away to hear your music you'll be fine
james  Dec 09, 2014
A
Yes it is loud enough to use in a vehicle. Just know that at higher volume levels, battery performance decreases.
jeffrey  Dec 09, 2014
A
Yes, you can turn it all the way up with out to much distortion, has a nice sound but not real loud. Definitely loud enough to enjoy over road noise.

Indeed it does. On lay over time in a 26ft bus that I drive, I pull in a parking lot, hook up my JBL 2, crank it up and take a seat in the rear. That's it: sound crystal loud and clear. My customers are amazed too.
silvan  Dec 08, 2014

Q
How do I make a phone call?
joann  Nov 13, 2014
2 answers
A
I have both. There is not a big difference in sound. Both are amazing, the Flip more so because of its size. The Flip is better for portability, and will fit in a cup holder or horizontally. It comes with a nice case and is more stable in horizontal or vertical position. The Charge only plays horizontally, as the bass drivers are on sides. Only advantage to charge is for charging devices or for extended play--it has tremendous battery capacity. I wish it came with a travel case.

4 hours to charge
ivan  Oct 28, 2014
A
Just charge it until all of the lights on top turn off. Each charge takes approximately 4 hours from a completely discharged battery.
david  Oct 27, 2014
A
If you plug the charge2 in to the included power supply/ charger it will automatically charge until it is full and then shut off. When charging, the battery indicator LEDs will blink based on amount of charge and then turn solid when finished.
jeffrey  Oct 27, 2014
A
Yes you have too
angel  Oct 27, 2014
A
A couple hours will suffice. You only need to top off charge after that. So it should take less time unless the battery is totally depleted.
harold  Oct 27, 2014

Charge it until all the lights are lit indicating a full charge - do the same whenever it runs down. It's a fantastic little speaker, great sound !!
christopher  Oct 27, 2014

I usually charge mine for 4 hours it should be enough if it is completely dead.Charging time will vary otherwise depending on how much is left but 4 hours should be the max if it is completely dead.

Q
Why does this device not come with a case? Another retailer sells it for $149 also but if you look at the "Whats in the box" at that retailer it says it comes with a carrying case.
shannon   Dec 18, 2014

A
We do not show that the Charge 2 comes with a carrying case. I also checked the JBL website to confirm, and they do not show this either. The original Charge came with a carrying case, but the Charge 2 does not.
