About the JBL Club 6520

Alexander H.

The well-rounded speaker

It's simple. Your factory speakers are getting you down. JBL's Club Series speakers are the clear solution. JBL equipped these Club 6520 6-1/2" coaxial speakers with UV-resistant polypropylene woofers for stellar performance even under the stickiest (or chilliest) environmental conditions — after all, your car door isn't the most forgiving place to reside.

JBL Club 6520 6-1/2" 2-way Speakers

This Club Series speaker's low profile allows it to fit in more vehicles.

Strong performance

The speaker's patented Plus One™ woofer structure extends the surface area of the cone to give you a better bass experience than other speakers this size. And an edge-driven PEI tweeter expands the high-frequency range, so you'll hear musical details that you never heard from your old speakers.

A match for any system

The Club 6520's low-impedance design safely draws more power from your car stereo to give your music extra punch, but you'll get even better results feeding them power from an outboard amp.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Tweeter: Each speaker has a PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced dome tweeter. PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Mixed reviews, cannot decide between these or the cs or ds kickers. Maybe I'll buy both. I know jbl doesn't make garbage either, so probably will go with these. What do you think good choice ?

I bought these to replace the factory front and rear door speakers of my 2011 Honda Ridgeline. I have been very happy with these for my usage to this point. I listen to a wide variety of music, everything from classic rock to reggae and everything in between. These have good response from the lows to the highs. They were a significant improvement over the stock speakers. My only issue is that I think one of the surrounds may be coming loose as there is an increased buzz in my front drivers door during heavy bass songs that was not present before. I have had these speakers for almost two years.

Q
Why does JBL's site call this a 6 1/2" speaker and Crutchfield call it a 6 3/4" speaker? If its not one of the "also fits _____ openings" exceptions (which it does not say that in the listing for this product anywhere), only one can be correct. The difference in size made the installation more difficult than it needed to be, because nothing lined up with factory holes.

Car speaker sizing can be one of most confusing things we deal with on a daily basis here at Crutchfield, and it helps to think of speakers in categories instead of sizes. Measuring a speaker will never yield the same number as its category, as Antonio pointed out in his comment. If you look at what we consider to be a 6-1/2" speaker, you'll notice the cone size is actually just over 5". To help our customers, we decided to take the research we did on speaker locations in various vehicles and translate that into what fits from the measurements we actually take from the speakers we sell. We hoped to eliminate some of the confusion and not mislead customers. These sizes are not always indicative of what the factory speaker size was.

Hello - I've just purchased 2017 Toyota Highlander XLT with Nav but without a JBL sound. I want to upgrade the speakers but not sure how many I need and what kind without going into getting an amp. Will these JBL Club 6520 speakers do the job?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
I own the 2016 Tacoma Limited with JBL , Doesn't it already have good speakers or would upgrading them be better ?
timothy  Dec 23, 2016

A
The factory JBL speakers are decent and certainly better than the basic sound system option. The original speakers are a low impedance so, replacing them with aftermarket 3 or 4 Ohm models will result in less wattage and volume. For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Chat.aspx I hope that helps.
