Overview: The JBL Synchros E40BT Bluetooth headphones offer convenience and performance in one stylish and comfortable package. With ShareMe technology, you can even share your experience with another set of headphones. The E40BTs have a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery that provides all day music playback capability. When the battery becomes exhausted, you can plug in the supplied auxiliary cable and continue listening.

Drivers: The Synchros E40BT over-the-ear headphones feature large 40mm drivers with PureBass performance in a lightweight closed design. The 32-ohm drivers give you crystal-clear stereo for enjoying your music or carrying on a phone conversation.

Bluetooth: The Synchros E40BT supports Bluetooth 3.0, with A2DP v1.3, AVRCP v1.5, HFP v1.6, and HSP v1.2. The left ear cup is equipped with a microphone featuring Konnexx echo-cancellation technology to give you a clean connection and clear, hands-free calling. ShareMe: JBL's exclusive ShareMe technology lets you wirelessly and simultaneously share your music with another ShareMe-enabled headphone. When you are paired with a Bluetooth source device, you can then add a second pair of headphones and listen to the same source at the same time--a concert for two. ShareMe can be enabled using two E40BT headphones, a E40BT and an E50BT, or two E50BT headphones.

On-board Controls: The headphones' left ear cup includes a 4-way Multi-function Button (MFB) that lets you control your music playback and phone calls:

  • Press MFB up/down: Raises volume up or down
  • Press MFB forward:
    • Music: 1x play/pause; 2x next track; 3x previous track
    • Phone Calls: short press answer call; long press reject call; manage 2 calls at same time
  • Press and hold MFB forward: 1x fast forward; 2x fast reverse
  • Press MFB backward: ShareMe function

Battery: The built-in 3.7V Lithium-ion rechargeable battery (610 mAh) provides approximately 16 hours of music playback time, or 24 hours of phone talk time. The battery charges in approximately 3 hours via the included USB cable.

A
Yes. Just go to JBL's Web site and locate the E40BT. Scroll down to, "Product Specs, Manuals & Compatibility." Then click on that and select the Spec Sheet or the Quick Start Guide. On the iPhone, you can touch the three little dots in the upper right and "share" the manual by emailing it to yourself, or you can open it in Safari (on the iPhone) and add it to the "Reading List" by touching the Open Book icon at the bottom of the screen. That way, you can just refer to the email you sent yourself, or open Safari's reading list and select the manual there. If you don't have an iPhone, I'm quite sure there are 2 or 3 ways to save the manual on whatever operating system you're using on your smartphone. Good luck.

I have a solution for iPhone if you are a iPhone user. Google jbl e49bt manual", click on the link that takes you to jbl. When it takes you to the page that displays your headphones then scroll to the bottom and click the + sign next to manuals & downloads. Select Quick Star Guide, this will open the manual on PDF, then on the top right click Open in iBooks. This will download the manual on your iBooks app.

Q
do these work with an iphone 5s?
michael  Apr 02, 2015

A
Yes. I had a 5s for a while and paired fine with these
luis  Apr 03, 2015
A
Absolutely . Simply sync to Bluetooth and you're off and running . Works with iPad and android devices just as easy . These sound great too . One fault ..... They must be synced each time that you use them . Your phone will list them but you have to " forget this device " and resync . Other than that they're great . Good luck . You won't find a better set of BT headphones for the price .
daniel  Apr 03, 2015
A
Yes, perfectly. I'm listening to them on an iPhone 5s right now.

The external noise reduction is not great. However, the sound quality is phenomenal if you pump enough volume into them..

Noise reduction is the same for any on ear headphone, minimally passive. I purchased these for my wife but I have used them. The sound quality is fantastic but probably not your best choice for a trip on an airplane. They almost seem more comfortable than my over the ear JBL E50BT's. I have a good sized head and they fit great. You might get more of a passive noise cancelling from the E50BT. Hope this helped.
jason  Dec 08, 2014

This headphone is light. Noise reduction is ok. It's not noise canceling. Very easy to set up with Bluetooth devices. Battery lasts very long before recharging. I also have the e50bt. That's bigger and excellent noise reduction.
al  Dec 07, 2014
A
I've had no issues with noise reduction . As far as sizing , they fit my head just fine ( and I have a pretty large head ) . The only issue I have , which is minor , is with comfort after wearing these awhile ..... The ear pads hold heat , therefore creating sweat . Other that this , I'd highly recommend . Good luck with your purchase .

The noise reduction on the JBL E40BT was OK and the music level was just fine, I have a big head and didn't feel any discomfort at all while using these for walking/jogging and at the gym. I did however had pairing problem with these, it seem that every day that I was going to use them it lost bluetooth connection with my iPhone or Macbook. Got tired of that and that's why I opted out for a pair of Bose SoundLink Bluetooth, I love the sound and noise reduction on these much better and the paring problem disappeared

They are Christmas gifts that I haven't given yet to my kids. I'll let you know as soon as they open it. I'm planning to give it to them next week.

I have been enjoying these headphones for a couple of months. They are not actively noise reducing but the foam earpieces fit comfortably and block out normal household background noise. I have a hat size of 7? inches and these are just fine. For the money I think they would be hard to beat.
peter  Dec 07, 2014

I think the sound is perfect. I also have a big head but haven't had any difficulty in wearing the earphones for one or two hours. All in all 100% satisfied with this purchase.
warren  Dec 07, 2014

No noise reduction it all. Not the most comfortable fitting. My ears got a little sore after wearing them for a while. Okay for the price.
richard  Dec 07, 2014
A
First, these headphones sound just great both as Bluetooth and wired. I read the Same reviews where someone stretched the set by placing them over the back of a couch overnight. That works if you find them to be too tight. These aren't noise canceling sets like Bose of that type, but they do block noise effectively. You can listen to these while mowing your lawn without having to turn them up dangerously high. They stay on pretty well unless you're trying to go jogging or something. I got them for the convenience of Bluetooth and was surprised at how great they sound. These are a very goof deal.
