The cure for a common problem

It's happened to all of us. You're lost in your music when, suddenly, you're jolted as you feel your headphones pull at your head and your music suddenly stops. You've accidentally pulled the headphone cable out of your smartphone. There are two known cures for this problem: be more careful, or get a pair of wireless headphones like the JBL Synchros E50BT. These headphones have Bluetooth built in, so they can connect wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet. Lose the cable and use the earcup controls to play and pause music, adjust the volume, or even take a hands-free call with the built-in microphone.

Cleverly styled and well built, the Synchros E50BT headphones offer JBL's legendary sound, with large 50mm drivers producing plenty of clear detail and PureBass technology bringing the low frequencies to life. The over-the-ear design helps ensure outside noise stays out of your headphones, while keeping your music inside so it doesn't bother others at home or in the office. The earcups swivel and fold for easy storage when they're not in use.

Wireless or wired listening

The Synchros E50BT run on a built-in rechargeable battery, which provides up to 18 hours of use. If your battery runs down, you won't be stuck without music. Simply connect the included headphone cable and keep listening in wired mode. Then, use your computer or a USB AC charger to get your headphones charged up for more wireless use.

Share a song wirelessly

One pair of E50BT headphones is cool. Two pairs can do something really cool. You can stream music to another pair of headphones wirelessly using JBL's ShareMe™ technology. This allows two people to listen to the same song from the same source at the same time. You can share music with any two pairs of ShareMe compatible headphones.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The JBL Synchros E50BT Bluetooth headphones offer convenience and performance in one stylish and comfortable package. With ShareMe technology, you can even share your experience with another set of headphones. The E50BTs have a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery that provides all day music playback capability. When the battery becomes exhausted, you can plug in the supplied auxiliary cable and continue listening.

Drivers: The Synchros E50BT over-the-ear headphones feature large 50mm advanced drivers with PureBass performance in a lightweight closed design. The 32-ohm drivers give you crystal-clear stereo for enjoying your music or carrying on a phone conversation.

Bluetooth: The Synchros E50BT supports Bluetooth 3.0, with A2DP v1.3, AVRCP v1.5, HFP v1.6, and HSP v1.2. The left ear cup is equipped with a microphone featuring Konnexx echo-cancellation technology to give you a clean connection and clear, hands-free calling. The headphones are compatible with iPad (mini, 3rd and 4th gen), iPhone (5s, 5c, 5, and 4s), iPod touch, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Android 1.5 Cupcake to Android 4.4 KitKat, and Blackberry 1.0 to Blackberry 10 OS.

ShareMe: JBL's exclusive ShareMe technology lets you wirelessly and simultaneously share your music with another ShareMe-enabled headphone. When you are paired with a Bluetooth source device, you can then add a second pair of headphones and listen to the same source at the same time--a concert for two. ShareMe can be enabled using two E50BT headphones, a E50BT and an E40BT, or two E40BT headphones.

On-board Controls: The headphones' left ear cup includes a 4-way Multi-function Button (MFB) that lets you control your music playback and phone calls:

  • Press MFB up/down: Raises volume up or down
  • Press MFB forward:
    • Music: 1x play/pause; 2x next track; 3x previous track
    • Phone Calls: short press answer call; long press reject call; manage 2 calls at same time
  • Press and hold MFB forward: 1x fast forward; 2x fast reverse
  • Press MFB backward: ShareMe function

Battery: The built-in 3.7V Lithium-ion rechargeable battery (730 mAh) provides approximately 18 hours of music playback time, or 24 hours of phone talk time. The battery charges in approximately 3 hours via the included USB cable.

Specifications: The Synchros E50BT has the following specs:

  • Frequency Response: 20-22kHz
  • Maximum SPL: 115dB @ 30mW
  • Impedance: 32 ohms
  • BT Frequency Range: 2.402 - 2.480 GHz

Customer Q&A

Q
will they pair with a ps4 ?
john  Nov 03, 2017
1 answer
A
Sorry, no. The PS4 does not offer the ability to pair with standard Bluetooth headphones as is (only "Official" and "Licensed" headsets). There may be third party accessories that enable this option but we do not carry any here at Crutchfield.

Q
would this headset work on a ps4?
michael  Sep 25, 2017

A
Theyre Bluetooth so they should pair with anything. Unless they've changed the design, I'd recommend a different manufacturer. The model I owned used the sound port as a charging port as well, rather than USB. I lost one of the channels and returned them. Check out Bose.

Q
Can i pair this the JBL E50 with 2 devices at once?

A
No
armando  Feb 07, 2016
A
Yes you can the only thing is when one device emits a transmission to the device it will stop the other device transmitting, but it is still connected. Also it doesn't connect both at the same time u have to manual connect one. Example I connected my phone and tablet at the same time and ran music thru the phone and just played with the tablet. I had the sounds up on all and every time i touched something on the tablet it cut the music off so i had to keep restarting it. I muted everything on the tablet and it was fine, the music never stopped. Now the reverse will work too. Run music thru the tablet and phone idle. When you get a phone call it stops the music off the tablet and phone takes over. For me this just not practical, the music cuts off when I'm getting a phone call anyway if I'm just using my phone as the player. Hope that helps.

We are giving as a gift specifically for use with an iPhone 6. There is no reason it should not work but we have not yet tested.

I can not say for sure, They work great with the I 5s and latest generation I touch. Also, I have had no problem with any of our laptops, tablets or car radios.
margaret  Dec 17, 2014

These will work with any Bluetooth. I have these connected with my I touch and android.
alejandro  Dec 17, 2014

I dont see why not, the work with my iphone 5, should work with anything BT. Plus they come with a cord!
diane  Dec 17, 2014
A
Sorry I don't have the 6 yet... However I do like the headphones!
matthew  Dec 17, 2014
A
As long as you have Bluetooth capabilities you should have no problem. I use mine on my Samsung S5 and my Samsung Tab S tablet. So with the iPhone 6 I would suspect you would have no problems. Hope this helps.

Q
Do these headphones have active noise-cancellation? That is, can they block out sound via their internal microphones even when nothing is playing? If so, is it any good (compared to Bose QC25)?
ishan  Jan 08, 2015

A
The over-ear design does block a reasonable amount of external sound from coming in,but these are not noise-canceling headphones. So far I am pleased.
bryce  Jan 13, 2015
A
No, Im pretty sure they don't because they didn't advertise that they did. But if you want quality sound, I really love the bass on these better than Bose or Beats. I was amazed.
joy  Jan 09, 2015
A
Not noise canceling. They are very quiet and gave awesome sound. Much better that Bose, Sony, Dre beats. I've had them all. Noise canceling headphones make me feel like I have a pressure on my ears. Hope this helps.
terry  Jan 09, 2015
A
they are not noise cancelling.
russell  Jan 09, 2015
A
No just passive via the over the ear design. Works well. The sound is exceptional. A bit uncomfortable for extended wear in my opinion, but a quality pair of wireless headphones.
