JBL Synchros E50BT

Overview

Our take on the JBL Synchros E50BT

It's happened to all of us. You're lost in your music when, suddenly, you're jolted as you feel your headphones pull at your head and your music suddenly stops. You've accidentally pulled the headphone cable out of your smartphone. There are two known cures for this problem: be more careful, or get a pair of wireless headphones like the JBL Synchros E50BT. These headphones have Bluetooth built in, so they can connect wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet. Lose the cable and use the earcup controls to play and pause music, adjust the volume, or even take a hands-free call with the built-in microphone.

The cure for a common problem

JBL Synchros E50BT wireless headphones

Connect the Synchros E50BT headphones to your smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth and control music and calls with the earcup buttons (shown in Blue).

Cleverly styled and well built, the Synchros E50BT headphones offer JBL's legendary sound, with large 50mm drivers producing plenty of clear detail and PureBass technology bringing the low frequencies to life. The over-the-ear design helps ensure outside noise stays out of your headphones, while keeping your music inside so it doesn't bother others at home or in the office. The earcups swivel and fold for easy storage when they're not in use.

Wireless or wired listening

The Synchros E50BT run on a built-in rechargeable battery, which provides up to 18 hours of use. If your battery runs down, you won't be stuck without music. Simply connect the included headphone cable and keep listening in wired mode. Then, use your computer or a USB AC charger to get your headphones charged up for more wireless use.

Share a song wirelessly

One pair of E50BT headphones is cool. Two pairs can do something really cool. You can stream music to another pair of headphones wirelessly using JBL's ShareMe™ technology. This allows two people to listen to the same song from the same source at the same time. You can share music with any two pairs of ShareMe compatible headphones.

The headphones had an over all great quality, but one day the right speaker stopped playing sound. It's disappointing that headphones that sounded so nice broke so easily.

The headphones had an over all great quality, but one day the right speaker stopped playing sound. It's disappointing that headphones that sounded so nice broke so easily.

Pros: They sounded great. They were comfortable. They had a long battery life.

Cons: The right side speaker went dead after only 2 weeks.

The headsets work great. Bluetooth instantly to my iPhone without issue. Easy to configure. The sound quality is the typical high standard JBL is famous for. The phone functions are serviceable. There are a couple of negatives. The max volume is pretty low if you want to rock out. OK for most uses though. Also, the on the ear controls---there are 4 buttons--- are all flat with no noticeable to the touch quality so hitting the buttons without looking is a challenge. As for the categories of this review. Really! Coolness factor? What is that? If you are bigger or have bigger ears, the over the ear feature is really more like on the ear. That's why I give only 4 star for comfort. Sound quality takes a hit because of the lack of power. Looks to be built OK.

Pros: Sound quality ease of Bluetooth.

Cons: Buttons. Volume.

We purchased these as a Christmas present. Who knew the sound would be this good? THey are more powerful than the Beats bluetooth and half the cost with super clear mids, sharp High's, and realistic lows without distorting the true sound of the music.. Color choice was the cool bit and have a nice fit and finish to them. If your not sure who made them, well it is on all sides. "JBL" just to make sure everyone knows what your wearing! Control plate/disk is a nice idea but makes noise while listening to your tunes at higher levels. Bluetooth range exceeded my expectations along with battery life. Corded use also surprised with even more volume available. The headset feels like a solid performer and pairing with the phone was smooth. For the price they are a great deal

Pros: Sound is Fantastic! Blows the beats away with cleaner sound. Volume levels out perform those also. Choice of colors is a nice touch with easy music controls. When making & taking phone calls the E50BT handles them with excellent clarity, the built in mic is crystal clear without picking up back round noise to distract you. Then returns to your music where you left off. No wires, so the bluetooth freedom is what we were looking for. Simply put-again- BUY THEM!...

Cons: NO CASE........Who in their right or left mind has perfectly round ears? product description says 52mm "Around the Ears" we all found that the ear cups are a bit smaller when installed onto the "round cans" that changes the oval shape needed for extended comfortable around the ear use. Again NO protective travel/storage case! In my experience wearing for short periods were Fantastic with a large variety of music types. Control disk vibrates and has audible noise when used.

I usually like JBL products because it's always great value and reliable for the money. At this price point i wasn't expecting to be "blown away" but still I'm disappointed to say the least. First reason is comfort. After 1 hour of listening my ear lobes are so sore from being pressed up to the speakers because the padding is very hard and doesn't allow enough of a buffer between your ears and the speakers. It may not bother some but for those watching TV and wearing glasses buyer beware! Second reason, I find the on/off button very temperamental. you need to press it several times before pairing can take place. And third, the lack of depth and sound effects when watching TV is noticeable ( FYI I only use JBL Synchros E50BT for watching movies and TV).

Pros: nice look

Cons: Many unfortunately, starting with comfort. The padding is way too hard and doesn't allow enough room between earlobes and speakers. Noticeable lack of punch and depth when watching movies and TV.

Pretty good, but for the money probabally the best value so far.

The pricier Bluetooth headphones I have sampled are slightly better in some factors but if you take into account how much these costs, the JBLs would top the list every time. Regardless, these headphones are a solid performer, I use them for everything, I can see how the other pricier headphones I might baby thereby reducing enjoyment level, but I am not afraid to put these through the paces. That includes gym, yard work, and construction. They sound fantastic, the range is impressive, the bass is good but as others have stated not as pronounced as Beats, which I personally appreciate. Don't get me wrong most of my favorite types of music reside in the lingering, resonating lower frequencies such as Dancehall, Dub, reggae, hip-hop, dubstep and the like, however at this point I really enjoy taking in all that a piece has to offer and in the end the bass and lower frequencies are represented very well with these headphones. They are very rugged, having tossed them around a bit, getting them a little wet and stuffing them every which where they so far are holding up great. Battery life exceeds my expectation and so does the reception range. I put my phone in my cubby at the gym and just roam freely, I also leave my phone inside the house and work outside with no problems. If you are on the fence and price is a factor in your total assessment I promise you this BT headphone will not disappoint. I definitely am going to buy again.

Pros: Great sound, great range, very durable, reception range is fantastic and best of all the Price!! Also love the color choices(I got Blue)

Cons: I don't get the fold design(the way it folds), doesn't make sense for me, the button function is not my favorite(I like swiping), and although in the end the bass and lower frequencies are represented great sometimes I wish there were more bang.

Headphones are very comfortable, have great sound quality, display lots of detail and clarity for the jazz I listen to both voice and instrumental.

Pros: clarity, ear fit, detail of voice and instrumental. Sound does not beat you up can listen for hours without getting tired. Without noise reduction unit manages block the majority of the background noise without playing and undue loud sound level.

Cons: could use more bass and a carrying case. Have some issues with connecting via Bluetooth to my Ipod and android phone.

Bought these instead of noise cancelling headphones due to the great price and the over the ear design. Definitely not noise cancelling but for the money, does the job of muffling exterior noise and music sound is great. The low volume setting could be slightly lower, minor issue for sure. People near me can hear my music when at 1/2 volume and higher. Would be nice if there was a case or bag included (especially with the white) to keep headphones clean and wires all together. I like the fact that two headsets can be linked.

Pros: Great sound, great price. Will buy another pair to pair!

Cons: At 1/2 volume and higher, people around me can hear my music. No case.

Good product for the money that's a no brainer. They don't really have the uhhhhh I had hoped for that JBL has produced for me I ln the past but I guess I should have bought the more expensive ones I guess. We really bought a pair of them for the BT pairing option for traveling. Works just like the show on the crutchfield website. Great idea with that video by the way, keep it up!! Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. Would I buy them again if these get lost, YES.

Pros: Look nice Block sound when actively listening Easy using

Cons: Maybe it's just me I have large ears but these don't really do over my ears. They more sandwich them onto my head.

Cons: A little uncomfortable at first till there are broke in.

I bought these for my daughter initially for road trips. With pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, etc. the cord of my Bose was constantly getting tangled and yanked on. The bluetooth looked to be a great option and proved to be a great choice. Surprisingly, the sound quality of the JBL's are outstanding, the design fits my daughter perfectly (although the ear cups are a bit shallow for me), and the BT range is fantastic (greater than any other BT device I own). It is also nice to have the cord as a back up for when the battery dies. My only complaint would be it does not come with a case.

Pros: Great sound quality, Good fit, and excellent BT range

Cons: Does not come with a case. BT does not turn off with the synced device, you must manually turn them off or the battery dies quickly.

I just really like the product. I needed something without wires for talking in the phone but still sounded good and other people could still hear me in my loud semi truck. The Syncros does just that.

Pros: Perfect for wireless calling

Cons: Listening to music is fine but I wish it had more base and i wish it didn't have a limiter on how high the volume can go. That being said it is still loud enough and JBL is saving my hearing.

Great value.

Wow! I love a quality sound, especially a good bass and this has it!! I got it for my grandson thinking he might not be happy because it isn't Beats, but he is really happy with them!!! I don't need wireless because I have great ear buds but I'm considering getting another pair for myself because the sound is better than my buds. They say wireless isn't as good but I'm telling you, this is great!!

Pros: Comfortable, great bass, clean clear tone quality, easy to use, biggest bang for the buck!!

Cons: Doesn't shut out noise completely but very good

I am very impressed withe these headphones. I have used Beats Solo and Monster, these are far superior to both. The sound quality is excellent and for non noise canceling headphones they sure do cancel out just about everything. I bought these to use while mowing my fields and was quite surprised when I could barely hear my thirty hp diesel tractor. The volume level is very good and the fit on my big head and ears was surprisingly comfortable even after 8 hours of mowing. The Bluetooth works easily and has a very good range. Now we just need to see how they will hold up long term.

Pros: Very comfortable Very good at canceling noise even though they are not noise canceling headphones

Cons: Have not found one yet!

Why did you buy this?

EXCELLENT highend, bass, and build quality! I compared this JBL E50BT over the ear design with two $299 models and I could not hear the difference! The tactile controls are easy to navigate to and the battery easily lasts 4-5 days at low listening levels. The sound quality during phone calls is clear and crisp even though these are not "noise canceling". The only con is these are large and I recommend trying them on at Target or Kohl's. Great sound, wireless, and price compared with other brands. [ FRANCISCO  Jan 05, 2016 ]
For the price the sound quality is great and the battery lasts a very long time. [ Ramsey  Dec 14, 2015 ]
The JBL E50BT head set I purchase on Dec 2014 Is the best purchase i made. I purchase many Bose, Dr dre, Koss ,Sony & plantronic, but the JBL e50bt nice bass is my favorite I pay 130 on sale not bad for blue tooth over the ear. Plus free shipping Thanks Crutchfield! I like that they don't look as Bulky as the Skullkandy blue tooth earphones I bought (that i will be returning). Also, i watched several review videos on you tube and they say the sound is very good. [ Michael  Dec 07, 2015 ]
Decent reviews, cost and they are Bluetooth. [ John  Dec 06, 2015 ]
The price [ Armando  Jul 01, 2016 ]
Had JBL speakers years ago and the quality was great so I figured these would be a good product as well. [ Jeff  Dec 14, 2015 ]
I like the color, despite my wife saying I look like a 5 year old. Also, she got the black ones and I don't want to mix mine up with hers. [ Michael  Dec 07, 2015 ]
Great product for my daughter as wires always get in the way. [ Joseph  May 03, 2016 ]
I picked these phones because...They were reviewed well. I'm interested to hear how they'll sound versus my others and the purple color seems cool. [ chris  Feb 14, 2016 ]

Yes you can the only thing is when one device emits a transmission to the device it will stop the other device transmitting, but it is still connected. Also it doesn't connect both at the same time u have to manual connect one. Example I connected my phone and tablet at the same time and ran music thru the phone and just played with the tablet. I had the sounds up on all and every time i touched something on the tablet it cut the music off so i had to keep restarting it. I muted everything on the tablet and it was fine, the music never stopped. Now the reverse will work too. Run music thru the tablet and phone idle. When you get a phone call it stops the music off the tablet and phone takes over. For me this just not practical, the music cuts off when I'm getting a phone call anyway if I'm just using my phone as the player. Hope that helps. [ Dwayne  Nov 03, 2014 ]
We are giving as a gift specifically for use with an iPhone 6. There is no reason it should not work but we have not yet tested. [ JESSE  Dec 17, 2014 ]
Yes, it will work great. [ Mudi  Dec 17, 2014 ]
I can not say for sure, They work great with the I 5s and latest generation I touch. Also, I have had no problem with any of our laptops, tablets or car radios. [ GREGORY S  Dec 17, 2014 ]
These will work with any Bluetooth. I have these connected with my I touch and android. [ ALEJANDRO  Dec 17, 2014 ]
I dont see why not, the work with my iphone 5, should work with anything BT. Plus they come with a cord! [ Diane  Dec 17, 2014 ]
Sorry I don't have the 6 yet... However I do like the headphones! [ MATTHEW  Dec 17, 2014 ]
As long as you have Bluetooth capabilities you should have no problem. I use mine on my Samsung S5 and my Samsung Tab S tablet. So with the iPhone 6 I would suspect you would have no problems. Hope this helps. [ Troy  Dec 17, 2014 ]
The over-ear design does block a reasonable amount of external sound from coming in,but these are not noise-canceling headphones. So far I am pleased. [ Bryce  Jan 13, 2015 ]
No, Im pretty sure they don't because they didn't advertise that they did. But if you want quality sound, I really love the bass on these better than Bose or Beats. I was amazed. [ Joy  Jan 09, 2015 ]
Not noise canceling. They are very quiet and gave awesome sound. Much better that Bose, Sony, Dre beats. I've had them all. Noise canceling headphones make me feel like I have a pressure on my ears. Hope this helps. [ TERRY  Jan 09, 2015 ]
they are not noise cancelling. [ Russell  Jan 09, 2015 ]
No just passive via the over the ear design. Works well. The sound is exceptional. A bit uncomfortable for extended wear in my opinion, but a quality pair of wireless headphones. [ JASON J  Jan 09, 2015 ]
