Got an urge to get the lows bumping? JBL GTO subwoofers may just fit the bill. They work great in sealed or ported boxes, so you'll get bass the way you like it. And these compact subs offer a lower profile than most subs so they fit into smaller boxes that save you space.

The GTO1004D 10" subwoofer sports a polypropylene cone, with a big rubber surround that allows plenty of cone movement without sacrificing control. A heavy-duty dustcap reinforces the cone for lows that kick without distortion. A special integrated vent keeps the sub's internal workings cool and improves power handling capability.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you are looking for a clear and loud bass without sacrificing too much trunk space then buy this sub. I powered only one sub with Profile HA700M amp and trust me...I could feel the bass in my chest. It is definitely for those who want to have crystal clear music and not window shattering.

Crutchfield helped me select this product and is really awsome!!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this sub for a direct replacement of a 10" Kenwood. The Kenwood was $120, and the JBL was $90. I noticed that the Kenwood had better lows, but the JBL puts out more sound with the same amp settings, and has tighter bass for rock songs. If you really are an audiophile for rap and low rolling bass, a more expensive sub may be in order. If you want good sound for all genres at a reasonable price get this. (THUMPS WELL for $90)

Work Great

These speakers are a great addition to your car or pickup audio system. I am
powering two of these with a Kenwood Kac 7203 1000 watt amp and they work
great. For the price i recomend these speakers.

This sub is great. I have had a keenwood and then i had 2 dual 12 inch speakers an this one wins hands down in loudness and clearness. This is a great buy.

I couldn't be happier

hands down, the best 10in sub for the money. my setup is an Alpine CDA-9847 with a Clarion 200X1 (bridged to mono) amp powering this JBL in a .6 cubic foot sealed enlosure. This 1 JBL is louder than the 2 Polk GNX 10s I replaced and has much better sound quality. the bass response is punchy, tight, and controlled. nothing but clean, undistorted bass; even at high volume levels. If sound quality is what you are looking for and you don't want to spend upwards of 300 dollars for a sub, than this is the one for you.

Woofer Cones: The JBL Grand Touring Series woofers feature polypropylene woofer cones with a heavy-duty molded dustcap.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The woofers feature hi-roll rubber surrounds to provide exceptional cone-edge suspension and long-throw linearity with control and stability at the excursion limits.

Spider: The woofer's progressive spider provides better control at the excursion limits and reduces woofer distortion.

Shallower Design: The Grand Touring Series' new proprietary frame, unique in-board motor structure, and new cone design allow the woofer to be a full inch shallower than equivalent-sized models.

Terminals: The woofer features dual binding post terminals which can accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, and single banana plugs. Because of the spacing between the + and - terminals, they cannot accept dual banana plugs.

Dual Voice Coil Wiring: The woofer comes with two jumpers which enable the speaker to be wired in different configurations:

  • Parallel: The woofer comes with the two jumpers installed in a parallel configuration. When the amplifier is connected to the two outside terminals, the woofer will have a 2-ohm load.
  • Series: To wire the woofer in a series configuration, only one jumper is used, and it connects the two inside terminals together. When the amplifier is connected to the two outside terminals, the woofer will present an 8-ohm load.

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: JBL recommends a 0.75 cu/ft sealed enclosure.

Recommended Ported Box Volume: JBL recommends a 1.25 cu/ft ported enclosure. One 3" diameter x 8-11/16" long port, tuned at 33Hz, should be used with the 1.25 cu/ft enclosure.

Recommended Bandpass Box Volume: JBL recommends a bandpass enclosure with a 0.75 cu/ft sealed rear chamber and a 1.00 cu/ft front ported chamber. One 4" diameter x 5-7/8" long port, tuned at 55Hz, should be used with this enclosure.

Power Handling: The woofer has two 4-ohm voice coils, and each voice coil can handle up to 125 watts RMS (500 watts peak).
