JBL innovation

You'll find JBL's unique Plus One woofer cone design at work here, which expands the diaphragm area of the cone to give you better low-frequency response. Edge-driven soft dome tweeters ensure a rich experience in the upper frequencies, defined by a bright, open quality. These JBLs also offer slightly lower impedance than standard car speakers, so they'll safely draw a little more power from your car stereo, yielding big volume even with low-powered factory radios. But if you want to blast these babies, they'll handle up to 35 watts RMS from an outboard amplifier.

Features

Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speaker cones offer more surface area than other speakers that fit in the same size opening. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The result is greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Balanced Dome Tweeter: Each speaker has a balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

FRP Frames: The fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) frames used in the GTO series speakers resist warping, even when mounted on uneven surfaces. The nonmagnetic carbon composite has no impact on the motor structure and the plastic doesn't resonate.

4/2 Hole Compatibility: Most 4" factory speakers use four mounting screws, however, in some vehicles, only two are used. The GTO-429's mounting tabs can be removed, allowing installation in 4-hole or 2-hole applications. Please check the Find What Fits Your Car application to confirm fit in your vehicle.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Customer Q&A

Q
Interested in these speakers and was curious as to what would be a good amp to complement these speakers?

A
They are so small they don't really need an amp besides what my head unit puts out (fusion ra70 - 25 watts RMS). They produce hardly any bass so I supplemented with an 8"sub. Sounds much better now.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Yes. Those speakers will work fine with your radio. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
