Our take on the JBL Grand Touring Series GTO755.6 II

JBL Grand Touring Series II amplifiers create a sound and sight sensation. The aggressively modern amplifier case features a see-through cover which allows you to install internally-mounted neon tubes for an entrancingly cool backlighting effect.

The GTO755.6 II 6-channel amplifier offers amazing versatility. From subwoofers to full-range speakers, it can power a variety of systems while configured as a 3-, 5-, or 6-channel amplifier. The efficient power supply delivers a big sound with low distortion, while the variable frequency filters adjust the amp's output to best fit your system's specific needs. When you're craving more thump, the bass boost circuit kicks things up a notch.

The convenient top-mounted controls make it easier to set up and tweak your amp, while preamp outputs simplify adding another amp into your system. Speaker-level inputs allow hookup to a factory stereo. An optional wired sub level remote is available.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Features

Internal Crossovers: The amplifier's internal front and rear crossovers are 12dB/octave filters, independently selectable for high-pass, low-pass, or flat (full range) operation. Each crossover is variable from 32 Hz to 320 Hz. The low-pass filter for the subwoofer channels can be adjusted from 32 to 320 Hz, and also has a slope of 12 dB per octave.

Bass Boost: For added low frequency performance, the subwoofer channels have a 0 to +12 dB variable bass boost centered at 50 Hz.

Protection Circuitry: To keep the amplifier safely operating, the protection circuitry is triggered in the following situations: DC voltage on amplifier output, overheating, over voltage, under voltage, and when there is a short circuit in the system.

Optional Neon Tubes: Using the supplied mounting clips, you can install optional Street Glow AN9 neon tubes in the amplifier. The neon tubes are installed by removing the amplifier's top panel, which is transparent plastic.

Optional Remote Level Control: The amp has an RJ-11 jack for use with the optional JBL remote level control (item #109JBLRLC). This will allow the subwoofer level to be adjusted from the listening position.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Power Connections: The power and ground terminals are set-screw terminals and will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on terminal will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Connections: The set-screw speaker terminals will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

High Level Input:The amp has two speaker-level inputs, one for the front channels and one for the rear channels. Each input has a 4-pin jack for use with the supplied harnesses.

Great single amp setup

Written By audiophile, Sacramento, CA on Saturday, December 30, 2006

I am using this amp to drive 4 factory JBL speakers and a JBL GTO1204BP sub. The sound is clean, clear, and more than I could ask for. JBL amps looks better than a lot of other amps in my opinion. This amp is great for those who do not want to hook up multiple amps for their subs and speakers (unless you have a super strong sub then this amp won't be able to handle it). I also put a pair of Street Glow AN9 neon tubes inside for a cool lighting effect, but the tubes are only 9 inches long so they don't light up the amp as bright as I want it to be but it still looks unique. Overall, it is a great amplifier. I'm very satisfied.

Fantastic Amp!

I love this Amp! It fit nicely behind the backseat of my 2004 Supercrew Cab F150. The varible crossover works great and with the built in line switch for the sub I could use a headunit with or with out a dedicated sub output. It also has a bass boost adjustment. The high level in's are great so if I move it to my other truck I can keep the factory in dash 6 disk changer. I have this driving some Polk db5250's on the front and Infinity 6812cf for the rear and they sound fantastic. My sub is a Polk MM 2104 in a Q-logic box and it really thumps for a 10.

I would highly recommend this amp to anyone looking for a clean setup. Just be sure to get speakers with a rated RMS that matches or is just below this amps RMS.

Power it ALL!

I have this amp installed in my 2006 Honda Accord. I initially thought I would just get better speakers and then an amp and sub, but I wanted to keep my factory head unit, for a couple reasons: 1)security...no thief would bother stealing a FACTORY radio and 2)the adapter to install an after-market radio in a 2003+ Accord is EXPENSIVE and not always reliable since it includes the climate controls. I just would rather not screw anything up!

Well I purchased some Polk speakers; db 650's in the doors (I didn't mess with the tweeters in the dash) and db 690's in the rear deck. While they sounded FANTASTIC, my factory radio is only putting out 8-10 watts RMS! That blows, so it was then that I decided I needed an amp for ALL my speakers. Because I wanted a clean install and a simple hook-up to my battery, I decided ONE amp is better than TWO, which meant a 5 or 6-channel amp. Thus my purchase of this JBL beauty.

I'm running my high-level signal from my radio to a 4-channel line-level converter then to this amp via RCA's. The first 4 channels are pushing my db's and I'm using the "internal" setting, bridging the last two channels, to send low end to a single JL 12W1v2-4 in a sealed enclosure.

I will probably NEVER see the top-end of this amp. I have yet to push it to 50% of it's available power and it feels like my eardrums will explode. Unless you are entering competitions, this amp will give you all the power you'll ever need!

great for the whole system

Written By SAINTSLAUGHTER, Orange County, NY on Monday, January 28, 2008

I'm running this amplifer to power 4 5x7 Full Range, Punch Series Rockford Fosgate Speakers, and bridged the last 2 channels to power a Rockford Fosgate P3SD210 10" subwoofer.I also have a 2-fared Tsunami Capacitor running into it. More power then I could ever dream of with Barely any distortion a the highest volume level from my Pioneer DEH 3900MP headunit(probably due to the speakers though). Crisp, clear, and LOUD music. I was very hesitant to by this amp before because of the fact that it's a relatively older model and it's HUGE. Size was a concern for me because i don't have that much room for an amp in my 01 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I ended up Hiding it behind the rear seats after some fabrication along with the capacitor. No complaints what so ever. Amp does everything it's supposed to. (Make sure you buy a decent capacitor for your system because without it, or a decent alternator, ull lose battery power very quickly)Highly recomend this system and looking forward to being heard any where within 3 blocks of where my car is :P

Perfect for custom

Written By Brett, South Florida on Sunday, January 27, 2008

I have this amp sitting on a custom box in the back of my 02 Envoy and it's extremely good looking!! Not only that but this thing is pushing 4 T162 Rockford Fosgate speakers in the doors and 2 12" MTX Thunder 4500 subwoofers and it never loses it's clarity no matter how high the volume is. This is the perfect amp for someone like me with alot of extraneous stuff hooked up to my battery including neon, LED, PS2, and the Jensen VM9312 headunit (touch-screen). This amp is actually the best amp I've ever heard in a car, and I've heard alot including: Alpine, Bazooka, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, and a few others. This amp is AMAZING!!!!

If you want your music to be loud, amplifiers are definitely part of the picture. But an amp can do much more than just get other people's attention.
