JBL's GT-BassPro12 powered subwoofer adds a blast of bass to your vehicle so you can really feel your music's impact as you drive. JBL designed this bass system to shine in the car environment, tuning it for tight, responsive low notes.
Powerful bass from a 12" sub
The GT-BassPro12 enclosure features a JBL 12" sub that really brings the thunder with its polypropylene cone and hi-roll rubber surround. The built-in 150-watt amplifier is matched up perfectly to the sub, so it won't wimp out when it's time to rock. Use an amp wiring kit to power up the GT-BassPro12, and you've turned your car into a concert hall.
Unique port for compact design
The enclosure features JBL's unique Slipstream port, which offers shorter length with a wide-mouth opening that reduces port noise and distortion. This means that JBL can build a more compact enclosure, and still get great performance from this hard-hitting sub. The medium-density fiberboard construction offers strength and durability under extreme conditions, while the carpet covering and stylish metal grille help protect your investment.
To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.
I recently purchased this subwoofer, before having conducted research. having taken the recommendation of a sales associate at quality auto sounds. at first I was skeptical, thinking that he was just trying to get me to buy more than I needed. Boy was I amazed, this has done wonders for my sound system in my car and it makes driving a blast. For the price I believe that this is best deal around. in addition it has a 150 watt amp which is wonderful because it isn't dramatically killing your your alternator or battery, yet it produces wonderful bass.
Pros: great package
Cons: slightly big
This is an awesome product. Before purchasing the JBL GT-BassPro12, I had never before owned or seen anyone else with a sub/amp combo. I eventually decided on this one due to the 5 star reviews. After owning the sub for a few months now, I can definitely say the 5 star reviews were right on the money.
First of all, this all-in-one unit sounds awesome. JBL, has it dialed in for near perfect bass. I don't have it anywhere near maxed out and it straight up rocks my Altima at half power. I also think it sounds better than some of my past systems where I had two 10"s, one 12" or even two 12"s. I think it all comes down to JBL perfecting the unit in the factory, thus the specs are exactly what they need to be.
In regards to space saving, I can also say that the unit easily fits in my trunk, and leaves me plenty of room. It also has a good weight ratio and black carpet that really sticks. I don't have it screwed or velcro'd or anything, and it stays exactly in place.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with purchase and you could be too. The system works great with rock, rap, jazz, dub step, etc.
Pros: Excellent factory design; quality speaker; Big-time sound
Cons: The only con I can think of isn't really with the speaker, but rather with Crutchfield not supplying install instructions. For the most part installing a sub is straight-forward, except for one key area - going through the firewall. I eventually drilled a hole after trying for over two hours to get through without any luck. Also, it's odd that there were no instructions for the subwoofer, when Crutchfield is known for supplying excellent instructions (notably with receivers and speakers).
My son wanted a "system" in his car. I did not want the obnoxious noise that come with most. I also drive his car frequently and did not want to lose all of the rear cargo space in the back of the vehicle. After extensive studying and reviewing different setups, I settled on this powered single woofer unit. The size is perfect right out of the box and the connection instructions seemed to be a breeze for adding to a standard stereo system. Because the vehicle (2004 Lexus Gx470) has a 10 speaker Mark Levinson system already, I did not want to risk splicing into the wrong speakers and blowing fuses, etc. I took it to the local store to be installed by their stereo geek. He was very apprehensive about the "powered sub" and warned that they usually don't meet up to any expectation and are rather weak sounding. "My expectations of a stereo system may be very different from yours so it might work okay for you.... but DON"T EXPECT TOO MUCH". He easily tapped into existing amp for power and installed the remote volume knob just under the ignition for easy reach. Upon completion, he apologized and somewhat embarrassed told me that he was very surprised at how well the speaker performed in the open air cargo area of vehicle. I got in and immediately turned up volume and bass control. I could feel it in my chest and mirrors began shaking. Outside of the vehicle, it is barely audible. It is the PERFECT setup for my son's rap and R&B, as well as my rock-n-roll. 5 STARS!
Pros: size, built in amplifier controls, sound, lowest of low bass hits, remote volume control, no need for crossover and separate power source for amp. All-in-one unit with easy connection setup. Highly recommend for price.
Cons: I don't have any yet.
So i got the infinity basslink first which ofcourse burnt a fuse right away which with reviews got me scared enough to exchange it with the BassPro. First off it is quite powerful. I no where need the max power over even plus sub in my kenwood radio. And it is pretty clean sound. I do miss what the infinity had in terms of range of bass and over sound. But alas. And this thing hits hard and solid. Adding this with my type R Alpines made huge difference. Worth the all money for sure. Happy to deal with Crutchfield over the exchange.
Pros: Bass slams. Powerful and solid. Seriously makes a world of difference. And a quality product.
Cons: Feel like some range is missing. Even this box 12 doesnt go superlow. Highs and diversity missing too.
Installed this in my 2015 Kia Optima since there are no rear speakers in the trunk only doors and dash. Fits perfect in the grooves to lower the back seat. The installation was easy just time consuming (around 2 hours) but it was worth it, this things sounds better than my 2 10" MTX and 500 watt amp in my old vehicle and it's a single 12" Sub. For the price with a 150W amp built in you can't beat it. This box makes the mirrors vibrate and that's only using half level on bass. Hooked this directly into my stereo so I can control the bass through the stereo so I don't really use the remote knob that much.
I also have some 6 1/2inch Kickers in the doors to provide better vocals since the JBL Bass was dominating the music, now I have a sweet system thanks to Crutchfield. Get the amp kit offered with the Bass Pro by Rockford Fosgate has everything thing you will need and probably more.
Pros: Sounds great, Bass hits hard and you can control how much bass you want with each song.
very good sub. great value
Pros: everything I expected.
Cons: none so far
Sweet product! Great, full sound with easy set-up. The heavy-duty cabinet ensures this thing will survive my teenage son's sports equipment being tossed into the back of his 4Runner...on top of the JBL! One nice enhancement would be a plug-in for connections that would make removal easier. Current power connects require a screwdriver. Not bad, but a little primitive.
Pros: Great sound, solid construction
Cons: Could be better power connects
small package big results easy install fit in a Pontiac sunfire trunk didn't think id get that much bass out of it but it hits hard.
Pros: easy install easy tune looks good still got room left in trunk yea.
Cons: after install you will be inclined to change out all factory speakers as for cons with the jbl there is none .
This replaced a Bazooka base tube, and WOW what a difference. The build quality is great and box is very solid. The amount of bass it puts out is incredible for a 12" driver. Would definitely recommend this product.
Pros: Price, quality, sound
Cons: The only thing I would change is to make the terminals larger to accept larger spade lugs.
Absolutely amazing product and fast shipping
Pros: Sounds amazing
Good sub for the money sounds good small enough worked well.
Pros: No converter needed and turns on with input no remote needed.
Cons: None so far.
This sub is a well rounded product. the JBL gt-basspro was chosen because I wanted an easy install, a dependable product and an box that didn't take my entire trunk space in my 2011 Jetta. It is perfect for someone who wants to add bass to their car audio, but doesn't want the hassle of installing a sub and amp separately. The sub installed very easily (i was able to do the sub, all four door speakers and head unit in a few hours even though it was my first stereo install.) I wanted a dependable setup because I was going to be stationed in Europe for a few years and it is my daily driven car. It has been 2 years and not a single issue. The box is small enough where I still have enough room to have luggage for a family of 4 or a large stroller with miscellaneous items.
Pros: Great plug and play setup. great size for small sedans to still have adequate storage. good dependability.
Cons: its a sub box, so there will always be a compromise. The back seat fold down option was my compromise.
First off Crutchfield is awesome. I get all of my audio needs from them. As for the GT Basspro-12; This sub packs a punch. It has lasted through about 4 years and three different vehicles; 2 hatchbacks and one sedan. Even from the sedan trunk it was still more bass than necessary. The remote knob is great and I rarely had the knob above half. Easy install. Just make sure its tied down. Velcro worked pretty good and still kept it easy to remove. Recently installed a Vibe Fastplug with it to make removal and reinstall even easier for when you need the trunk space. Sadly could not find a similar quick connect product available in north america though.
Pros: Big deep sound you can not only hear but feel as well!
Cons: A bit bulky but can be easily removed if necessary
Does what it is supposed to and more. Gives you the boom you've been looking for! This is a good deal and good product. The car stereo place around where I'm from even sells these bad boys.
Pros: Good price for JBL quality
Cons: None. I'm more than satisfied!
I installed this in my wife's 2013 VW beetle and she couldn't be happier. The car has a really good sound system it just needed some punch. Boy did this do it! The remote control that I mounted under the dash gives her complete control as to the amount of bass she wants. The hardest part of the install was getting to the factory speakers and tap into the wires to give the built in amp some signal. The amp senses a signal from the speakers and automatically turns on then off when you stop playing music. It's awesome! Basically hook up power, ground, then tap into the factory speakers and your done!
Pros: Ease of install, no matching sub, box, and amp, great tech support, sounds great, control the amount of bass from the remote, speaker grill that keeps the groceries from damaging the speaker (wife threw that in) lol
Cons: Really the only thing I could think of would be the size, which I knew before ordering. But my wife says it's worth it!
Love the sound and easy hook up
So i bought this to replace a smaller powered sub that i had and it blew my other one away. It is awesome, easy to install, and good amount of bass for the cost.
Pros: lots of bass, controllable, good price
Cons: just a little bit bigger than what i thought it would have been but thats it.
Growing up when I first got my license I was all about being able to hear my system from a half a mile away... now being 31 i still cant live with a stock radio but dont need a rattle back car..i put this in my girls new Explorer and i have zero complaints.... does it make your eyes go blurry when the bass hits? No... but its clean loud bass.. and having the control knob is great... she listens to country, and I listen to a lot of hip hop so being able to control the amount of base is great...
Pros: Loud, clean, crisp bass... Amp built into box.. does take up much room...
Cons: Honestly cant think of any... I've only had it for a few weeks but I'm hoping to get years of use out of it... I guess the only thing I could think of is it doesn't come with a wiring kit so dont forget to order that. But not a big deal.. I personally went with the Rockford Fosgate
This unit sounds great and the best part the install was a cake walk!
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Free shipping ( just kidding)
I am very satisfied with this unit. Like a lot of the other reviews I read I will agree this is not a block shaking sub but it hits hard and finds those low notes your factory system won't. You might want to use sound damping in your trunk to keep the loose stuff from rattling. Install went very well I used an eight gage wiring kit and I hooked it up through the high input feeds off my rear deck speaker so no remote turn on I wasn't ready to pull my HU until I get my new one. It was very easy to install I'm not an aggressive driver so I dont plan on securing it down in the trunk it has enough weight to keep it in place. Very good looking box and you'll get its only a hundred fifty watts?? On a twelve ? If I had a million dollars...........
Pros: Easy to install hits hard and low great buy for the money or for a budget build
Cons: Control knob wouldn't fit or work with dummy plate I had to screw it on the dash as low as I could get it so the screw holes would never be seen unless by a mechanic led on knob is bright
This package deal is everything I wanted and more. I have a 2 door car. I first replaced the stock 6x8 speakers with some mid grade 6x8's. I put two Infinity's in the rear and two JVC's in the front. I decided to add the JBL bass pro 12 package. I installed it in my trunk. I have the amp turned up 1/3 the way and it is a hard hitting, mirror rattling, sub/amp that goes perfectly with my system. I have a vanillaroma tree type air freshner hanging from my rear view mirror and it jumps and dances when the bass hits. I am very happy with this JBL set up. The remote gain control is an awsome addition to adjust the level through many different types of music.
Pros: A complete package that JBL engineers designed to go together perfectly. Remote gain control. No need to push the amp or sub even half way to get all the bass anyone could ever need.
Cons: A mesh grill would be a nice addition just to have a little more peace of mind when other things are in my trunk with the sub.
A+ Theres no need to say more!!!
Pros: great sound, easy to install
Great sub! Tons of bass! Easy install if you have a little experience with wiring.
Pros: Bass! design looks great! Inexpensive, remote bass control
Cons: It's a little bulky, can't think of anything else!
Awesome bass though not overwhelming if you don't want it to be. Simple to install and with remote knob included EASY to control on the go.
Pros: Easy install, good price, easy to adjust
This went in my sons car and he loves it. We installed a pioneer deck and 61/2"Polk audio speakers in front and 6x9's in the rear deck. The Polk audio speakers need to be woke up though. We will most likely install a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp and I'm sure that will do the trick. The dial we installed up front to turn the bass up and down works great as well.
Pros: Easy install, great bass.
It's a very good deal and u get the high quality sound very loud clear and with this one u can actually hear the ARTIST LAUDER THEN THE BOOS
Pros: Good value, good performance, great price
Great unit for small areas
Pros: Sounds good
Cons: None so far.
It's a great compacted sub that is just enough to give the bass I need to enjoy my music.
Pros: Compact, amp built in, easy to install. Still gives me cargo room.
Great set-up! Easy to install. A great all in one package that takes the guesswork out for you. You can either join all the other people who are raving about this product or be disappointed with something else.
Pros: Easy install! Great combo which provides an overall extremely efficient product.
Cons: Bass control knob could be a little bigger. This does not detract from the overall quality of this product though.
Upgraded entire system in a 2005 Toyota Corolla. Was advised that adding stronger tweeters and mid-range would overpower bass. Included this unit in the upgrade and love it. Mounted the remote level control within reach and can adjust "on the fly". This thing is easy to install, easy to operate and pounds the heck out of the little Corolla.
Pros: remote level control, remote turn-on through amp, overall sound
Cons: none yet
This is a great product, love it!
Pros: Easy to install and enjoy!
Wow what an Awesome combination of power and quality in a single package. Love the amplifier integration and look of the product.
Lots of power and rich deep bass, this package deserves the quality of the JBL name.
Extremely pleased with this product can't say enough about it.
Pros: Slim compact all-in-one design. Plenty of power and quality sound.
Cons: Wish I had room in my truck for 2. ;-)
Great powered subwoofer. Installed this in my sons vehicle and he loves it. Great bass tone. I recommend this subwoofer.Great bass at a good price.
Pros: Plenty of power
This speaker and built in amp combo was exactly what I was looking for for my son's truck. Easy to install and provides more than enough boom to make him happy.
Pros: Easy installation. I like that I was able to by the amp and speaker alreay mounted in a box together.
I recently installed this in my Civic and couldn't be happier. It's a great powered sub that thumps when you want it too. This thing gets loud and I only have the amp up half way. The control knob it comes with is really convenient. The reason I picked this was because I wanted a neat package that had some power, but some might consider it bulky if they have very limited trunk space. Overall, I like it a lot.
Pros: Solid performance, looks good
Cons: Size (depending on the car), might not be enough for super bass heads
Been installing sub packages for years...I've heard just about every speaker configuration imaginable...you will not find a better sounding sub for the money. I was so impressed with the one in my work truck...I just bought another for my large trunk sedan. Stop shopping, trust, in this product, trust in Crutchfield.
Pros: Hits every frequency with impressive accuracy. Lots of tone control options including phase switch which proved essential for my large trunk. Nice looking
Cons: LED on remote gain a little bright been running my first for 12 months... haven't found any
Very nice. Good looks , nice adjustments and remote is nice. Just enough Boom for me . Not over powering but it kicks.
Pros: JBL did good!
This is a great speaker amp combo.
Pros: Hits hard and works as expected.
After browsing around at a few different places, I went in to a stereo shop I normally go to and asked many questions since I know nothing about stereos. Previously I was told to go with a 10 But the guy showed me this and I had him test it for me so I could hear. Immediately I was like holy crap that sounds clean. You cant beat the price either considering its already in a box with an amp. Hard to beat at this price. Just had it installed in a toyota yaris hatchback and Im in love. still have plenty of space and it sounds incredible. Not to much thump, just perfect. And the bass knob is the best because different music styles use different bass so one may hit harder than the other so all it takes is that knob. would highly suggest this over other stuff.
this is an awesome subwoofer. If you are looking for an easy set up this is for you.
Pros: Great sound quality
I decided to treat myself for my birthday; nothing too ridiculious but I wanted to able 'feel' the bass...For the size, power and clarity you just cannot beat this. The quality is obvious and the gain knob is pretty cool (It is a lot smaller than it looks). I have a Ford Explorer so it fills the car pretty well not being in the trunk.
Pros: Quality, built in amp, gain knob, extra controls.
Cons: None so far.
I used to be a bass junkie, 15s, 12s, 10s, single 10, now this single 12. I've tried to shake it, but many vehicles and years later I still need my bass fix, but I don't care to shake windows from 6 blocks away anymore. I want a full sounding clean system with nice, hard hitting bass and deep thump to compliment the many genres of music I listen to (Hard Rock/EDM/Rap/HipHop/Country). I'm also limited on space due to this being in a F250 extended cab. This was perfect for me and I'm extremely glad I got it. This sub handles all of the different types of bass from the aforementioned genres, no problem. The bass knob is great as well.....but I got a pack of LightDims and put a dot over the LED, way too bright.
I previously had the 10" JL and although that is a great unit, after completing my system (100% thru Crutchfield, thanks all!) it just needed more bass. Gave this JBL a try and wow what a difference. Night and day! No, you will not rattle windows 6 blocks away, but you will be heard and this thing hits hard and thumps low. It really filled in my sound nicely and now it has the ability to over shadow my door speakers instead of the other way around. At only 50% gain, it's now balanced and still very loud. I'll put the JL 10 in my wife's SUV, so no loss there.
Pros: Hard hitting, thumps low, great looking, included bass knob with LED, amp is nicely flush with the back of the box.
Cons: Bass knob is tiny, have to use finger tips. LED on bass knob is too bright, order a pack of LightDims, problem solved.
After having a hard time trying to figure out the wiring configuration in my car, it was a breeze to put it in. Great sound and like the remote.
Pros: Great sound. Wired remote.
Cons: None as of now.
For a little box in Cranks.
Pros: Made well
Great sound, Great Price.
Pros: Easy install, remote control.
Cons: None noted yet.
Sounds amazing compared to FLI I replaced.
Pros: Easy install, sounds great and can be removed since I installed with quick disconnect plugs purchased separately.
Pros: Too good to be true
Cons: I need moré to my other carsCrutchfield response on April 29, 2013 Translation provided by Crutchfield's Spanish Sales & Support team. Visit our new Spanish-language site at www.crutchfieldenespanol.com:
Unbelievable bass out of this 12 inch sub. Love how it fills my nissan pathfinder with bass that I can feel. The remote bass control is a great added feature. Crutchfield continues to impress me with their products and fast shipping. Customer for life.....thanks crutchfield.
Pros: Great bass sound and cool remote bass control
Great product all in one. Installed in my 2010 Dodge Challenger. Fit my trunk perfectly with plenty of space left. The company is the best with shipping. Ordered on a Monday and I received the next day.
Large box takes up a lot of space in my Toyota FJ Cruiser. I seem to operate the sub at less than 25% of it's power and typically less than 10%, so this unit may be overkill for me.
Pros: Easy install; hard hitting base.
Cons: Large box takes up lots of space.
You see the power and specs on this and say, "That's not alot at all! This can't be that great." Then you install it. There is no reason for something so simple to be this loud and clean. This thing pounds harder than my previous system which ran more than double this setup. Everything is pretty much included and it looks great. I dare you to find a system for this price that even somewhat compares with this sound and quality. It's not competition stuff but you will need Dynamatt, It is shaking everything in my G35 right now without even being turned up loud. You are in for one heck of an experience.
I'm using an 8 gauge wiring kit, and a 35 dollar 2 Farad Capacitor. No power drain/headlight flickering whatsoever. The amp doesn't even get close to hot. JBL perfection as usual.
Pros: Minimal power requirements, loud and clean, clean setup, all-in-one subwoofer system
Cons: You will need some Dynamatt once your car starts to loosen up from the beating its in for.
I was going to go with a Bazooka 6.5" powered sub and decided to get some advice from Crutchfield. When I talked to an advisor, he recommended not to go with the Bazooka for an installation in the trunk. Instead, he recommended this sub and I am so glad I listened! The amount of bass this unit puts out is quite amazing. It hits hard but more than that the bass is tight and crisp. I have listened to anything from rock to raggae to rap and all sound amazing. The remote level control is awesome so that you can adjust the bass level depending on what type of music you are listened to. Installation was very easy and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Thanks Crutchfield!!!
Pros: Great bass, fast and easy install, looks great, remote is great
Installed this in my 2012 Subaru Outback. I was going to get the Sound OrdnanceT B-8PT but Im glad I bought this. Definatly has a thump to it. Great size to fit in the hatchback with room to spare. Purchased the wiring kit as well. With the help of the Crutchfield advisors I didnt have to purchase any extra wiring.
Pros: Very happy it came with a remote. Dont have to go to the back of the car to adjust the bass
Cons: Non so far. Put a carpet non slip pad under it, will see how it holds up on moving around.
This is the first sub woofer that I have purchased and it sounds great. Crutchfield's great customer service made ordering easy, and it was shipped a few hours after I placed the order. The free shipping was also a plus. Overall, the sub sounds great, and having the amp already in the box made installation a breeze. I'd definitely recommend it and this is coming from a cautious "first-time buyer".
Pros: Great sound, easy installation
My son and I intalled this sub in his 2001 Nissan Altima. The instal went very smoothly after we found somewhere to pass the power wire through the firewall. We cranked this up and plugged in the Ipod and we were amazed at the amount of bass this box produced. We lisened to everything from Metallica to Dubstep to Skrillex to rap and the amp kept up with no problem. This thing shook the rearview mirror easily and sounded excellent. It wasn't muddy or overly boomy. We played several bass tracks and test tones and it will play down to 40Hz and stll pound out bass. the only problem is we'll now have to amp the other speakers in the car to keep up with the bass output. As it is now we only have the level set to about 40%. After about an hour of listening and adjusting it I was surprised that the amp wasn't a lot hotter than it was. I could comfortably put my hand on it.
I reasearched this box for a few weeks before buying it and I looked at several others. This was perfect for what we needed. If you're on the fence about this sub I say just get it. I went to best buy and a local audio dealer and none of the other single subs i listened to came close to this sub for sound quality or volume. It exceeded all my expectations and I will be putting one in my Camry in the next few weeks.
Pros: Great bass. Great price. Easy to install.
After reading the great reviews of the The Sound Ordnance B-8PT I wanted a subwoofer setup that didn't take up too much space to install in the cargo area of my Xterra. The Sound Ordnance B-8PT fit the bill on size but not bass. Don't get me wrong, location is everything and if you have a space under a seat or a trunk this product may be for you but in the cargo area of an SUV, on the freeway with the windows down it just gets drowned out. Crutchfield excellent as always allowed me to return it and I purchased the JBL GT-Bass Pro12. No comparison. You will definitely sacrifice some space but the enjoyment that you receive from the music will make you feel good to listen to your jams while cruising or speeding up the freeway without a lack of quality. The JBL GT-Bass Pro12 is easy to set up and with the remote at your fingertips you can always adjust how loud you want it to go. I haven't turned it all the way up and at mid way reggae, rap and rock vibrate the seat and rear view mirror. I'm very satisfied with the switch and the BASS.
Pros: crisp clear BASS !!!
Cons: the same as the other reviewers mentioned.
I just put this sub in my car a few days ago, and I'm loving it!. I would strongly recomend this to anyone looking for a subwoofer on a budget. I love that it has an amp already in it, cause that can cost you alot in itself, and then you still have to buy the sub on top of that! And don't think cause of the low price that its gonna come out weak in sound. It hits hard, and you can definitely feel it pound through the car if you want it to. It's also extremely easy to hook up, which is nice. Also to anyone that see's on here that its max power is 150, thats in RMS not Watts. Its really 450 watts. For $250 this is an amazing subwoofer!
Pros: Easy to install, pounds hard, convenient bass level control that you can mount up front on the dash, and clear sound.
This is the first sub I've ever put in a car. I still need to do some fine tuning, but I'm absolutely loving what's it's done for the sound in my car. I primarily listen to rock, country, and roots music and I feel like I'm at a concert now with deep bass that you can really feel. I put in in the back of an 07 Ford Escape and it has plenty of juice to fill the space. It can really pound if you want it too. I keep having to turn it down. It's really helped my door speakers put out clearer mids too since I can run my head unit Bass EQ at 0 instead of +3. I can't comment on the ease of install since I wimped out and had a car stereo place do it for me. The "bottom" line is this JBL is exactly what I was missing. I get really excited about listening to music in the car now. The remote level control is essential and also has a handy power light on it, so you have the peace of mind knowing that it really turned off when you turn off the car and is not draining your battery.
Pros: Plenty of power for the average listener. Deep, fairly tight bass. Not too boomy.
Cons: Certain bass frequencies seem to resonate more than others, but that might just be the nature of my car's interior.
Purchased a Sound OrdnanceT B-8P. Sounded great, but wanted something with some more juice and did not reach the limit as the volume increased on factory radio. There is no comparison. JBL GT-BassPro12 is amazing. I used the high level inputs, make sure you tap into both the left and right speakers to create a full signal. Sound is very tight and bass is accurate. This is the sub/amp combo if you want to do things right and have strong, accurate bass at high levels.
Pros: Quality of box (heavy), tight and accurate bass, connection options, loud
Cons: You have to flip the box over to connect the power, ground and remote turn on wires
This box rocks! Hits nice and deep, perfect for small car. Easy to install.
Pros: Great sound. Thunderous bass for smaller cars. Easy install.
Cons: Needs to be mounted, or held down some kind of way....
i first purchased the infinity bass link for my car, it ended up having soe wiring malfunction shortly after using it, so i uprgraded to this sub. this sub isnt even comparable to the infinity. the sound clarity, volume, and sound levels the syb puts out are so much better! crutchfield advisors recommended this sub, and my entire car setup, and i am now in a wonderfully pounding, and clear car system. worth every penny and more to purchase this sub.
Pros: clear crisp sound, ported, easy to install, no extra wiring to connect the amp, great quality.
Cons: no brackets built in (easy fix, just use a few angle brackets to keep it in place).

Amplifier: The power output from the built-in amplifier is 150 watts RMS (450 watts max). The amplifier is counter sunk into the back panel of the enclosure (the heat sink fins protrude approximately 3/8").
Note: Neither speaker wire, RCA interconnects, nor amplifier wiring kit (power/ground/turn-on wires) are included.
Signal Input: The amplifier has both speaker level (harness) and line level (RCA) inputs. The input sensitivity range is 50mV-4V for the line inputs and 400mV-16V for the speaker inputs.
Crossover: The amplifier's low pass crossover point is continuously variable from 40 to 200 Hz; the crossover slope is 12 dB/octave.
Bass Boost: The bass boost circuit provides a variable (0-12 dB) signal boost centered at 45 Hz.
Status LEDs: There are two status indicator LEDs on the amplifier. A green LED lights to indicate the amplifier is turned on and operating normally. A red LED lights to indicate the amplifier's protection circuitry has been activated. The protection circuit activates and the amplifier shuts down when the input voltage (power) is too high or too low, when the amp overheats, and when there is a short between the amp and subwoofer.
Remote Level Control: The included remote level control lets you adjust the output level of the amplifier from the front of the vehicle. It can be mounted under the dash, in the glove compartment, etc, and has the following dimensions:

Very great bass. In trunk of grand marquis works very well. Install was easy. Like remote control I put it under dash to dial in bass needed. Not overwhelming. [ john Jan 18, 2016 ]
It had a five star rating and was priced in my range [ CHRIS N. Jan 10, 2016 ]
Simple setup with strictly the wires. Nice power and sound for the money with amp and enclosure included. JBL makes some of the best subs and speakers. [ IAN C Dec 28, 2015 ]
Not really sure how big the camaro trunk is, right now it's in a infinity g35 trunk and fits right in. Takes up a fair amount of space but hits pretty good. [ DANIEL Dec 16, 2015 ]
I am not sure about the size of a Camaro trunk but if it will fit you most certainly will love the sound. [ BYRON C Dec 16, 2015 ]
We have it mounted in the trunk of a 200 model BMW 323i With room to spare but not sure how much space the Camero has [ MARTIN S Dec 15, 2015 ]

No. You need to add an amplifier install kit. You need to run power to the amp. [ DANIEL Oct 08, 2015 ]

To be honest you could, But you would need double the wires like, Power Ground Audio and Remote wires. You might blow a fuse or something worse. Better off with one amp and a dual sub box. I will say this you don't need two of them if you just want more bass out of your system. This package sounds fantastic! I can't believe how good it sounds and its pretty deep too. [ John Sep 08, 2015 ]
I guess you could if you run big enough wire from the battery. These don't pull that much power. The question is, do you have enough space for two of these? [ George Sep 08, 2015 ]
I think you probably could. You would have to find a way to split the power cable from the battery, remote turn on wire, ground cable, and RCA input line from the head unit so that both subs picked up a signal. Nothing someone couldn't handle if they have extra speaker wire and some basic electrical/soldering skills. [ Spencer Sep 08, 2015 ]

Rob takes 5 minutes to disconnect [ JAMES Sep 01, 2015 ]
It does have fairly easy disconnects for the power, ground, and audio but I don't know if it would be considered a quick process. It will take 5 minutes or so to reconnect. Also this is a decent size subwoofer to move around. [ BYRON C Aug 26, 2015 ]
Autumn, removing your Sub couldn't be easier. All the wires in the back of the speaker are quick connects. They pull off, then push back on. It's obvious where they connect, but you might want to mark their places with tape and a marker. [ FRANK Aug 26, 2015 ]
Yes, the sub can be removed fairly simply by disconnecting a few wires. I'd recommend plastic wire covers to prevent the power and ground connections from touching anything and blowing the fuse. [ Hakeem Aug 26, 2015 ]
It doesn't have a "quick disconnect" so you would have to undo some wires. Other that that its fairly simple to remove. [ Mark Aug 26, 2015 ]
It's pretty much self contained. The amp connections use a Phillips screw driver, I'd probably recommend putting some type of end on the wiring instead of just the bare wire like my set up, if it's coming In and out often the wire ends will get pretty frayed. But yes, takes about 60 seconds to undo the 3 wire connections and lift it out of car [ DANIEL Aug 26, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The JBL subwoofer should work great with the JVC receiver. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Mar 02, 2015 ] Staff
It has to be sitting upright due to the fact that the amp is built into the back.it'll kink the wires laying on its back.you could probably build a little platform to sit it up off the wires if you have the room. [ AARON Jan 11, 2015 ]
Hi Robert, I think it can be used on its backside facing up. However the cords come out of the back so you have to find a way not to crimp or ruin the cords if you lie it on its back. I'm almost positive you can position sub woofers in any direction, but experiment because you will get different sounds. Also, if you have a smaller car, a smaller sub will actually give you bigger sound because of the way bass waves travel. [ Natasha Dec 30, 2014 ]
It can't lay on its back with the sub facing straight up. On the back is the connections and heat sync for the amp sticks out some. [ BYRON C Dec 22, 2014 ]
The amplifier is on the back of the box so it would be laying on the wires.. but I'm sure you could if that wouldn't bother you. . Sub sounds very nice for price point too.. installer was impressed .. [ CHRISTOPHER Dec 21, 2014 ]
I am using it sitting upright. I never tried it laying on its backside. I had an audio place connect for me and that is how they installed it. I diva a Tahoe with no 3rd row seats. [ Edward S. Dec 21, 2014 ]
I would not recommend placing this unit on it's backside due to all of the cables being located in the back and thus not allowing it to lay flat. [ Nicholas Dec 21, 2014 ]
You could if you wanted but the amp and all your hook ups are on my way the back. [ ROBERT Dec 21, 2014 ]
check amp rating for wire load requirements, I don't believe 4 will work may overheat, depends on AMP used, [ Ron Dec 08, 2014 ]

Worked well in our setup. Was installed in a jetta and ran the wiring all the way to the trunk. Blew the amp fuse a couple times but never the link in the power wire from the battery. And amp fuse was most likely just a tune /volume fault of ours, at 18 years old "it's all about that bass " [ DANIEL Dec 03, 2014 ]
I currently have mine facing toward the back of my 05 gli and I get a perfect balance [ ZACHARY S Sep 09, 2014 ]
My son has this sub in his 2002 Honda Accord. He has it facing towards the back and has excellent sound, plus has room for his golf clubs. If he had it facing forward, the bass would be muffled. [ SHAWN Sep 09, 2014 ]
Install the sub facing the back towards the trunk. That way you pretty much make your whole trunk a huge box. [ ROBERT Sep 08, 2014 ]
I ran my wires to the back speakers instead of RCA cables, the only thing is that I think I bought one of their wiring packs. [ CARLOS Aug 14, 2014 ]
You can, but you will need the cables that are open wire to rca adapters. Then adjust gain accordingly. [ DAVID Aug 14, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. Hooking the amp up will a 4 gauge work [ JAMIL Dec 01, 2014 ]
Will a 4 gauge work for wiring the sub [ Jamil.S Dec 01, 2014 ]
it depends if you have preamp outputs. if you don't then you will have to buy the line to signal converter. the only other thing you need is the wiring kit. You will LOVE the sound of this sub, especially if it is in the open. chris [ CHRIS Jan 13, 2014 ]
Just the wiring. Choose what size gauge wire you want or wire kit you prefer and that is it. You tap in to the left and right side of speakers, find a good ground and connect battery cable and you should be good to go. [ CARLOS Jan 11, 2014 ]
