About the JBL GX-A3001
Power your bass
Power your bass
JBL has been designing and building sound systems for decades, so they know how to deliver your bass. Their GX-A3001 mono subwoofer amplifier can send up to 300 watts RMS to your sub. You can use the variable low-pass filter to clean up the bass tone, while the bass boost adds some punch when you need it.
A cast-aluminum heat sink shunts off heat generated when you're pushing the amp, so you can jam out without worrying. The amp features preamp and speaker-level inputs, so it'll connect to just about any system.

Features
Power Output: The JBL GX-A3001 Class AB mono block amplifier delivers the following power output (RMS Power Output @ 1% THD+N, 14.4 VDC):
- 200 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms
- 300 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms
Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload, over- or under-voltage (<9V or >16V), and short circuits. The LED on the end of the amp glows red if the amp goes into protection mode.
Controls
Input Level: The GX-A3001's rotary gain control let you match the amp's input sensitivity to the output of the source unit. The input sensitivity range of the amplifier is continuously variable between 200mV and 12V. A small screwdriver (not included) is required to set the gain.
Crossover: The amp features a low-pass filter that is non-defeatable. It eliminates the amount of high frequencies that are sent to the subwoofer. You can adjust the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter from 32Hz to 320Hz using the rotary control. A small screwdriver is required to adjust the frequency.
Bass Boost: The GX-A3001 has a variable 0-12dB bass boost, centered at 45Hz. This allows you to dial in the amount of bass according to your personal taste.
Connections
Terminals: The JBL GX-A3001 uses screw terminals for the +12V power, ground, turn-on (remote) lead, and speaker outputs. The screws can be tightened/loosened with a Phillips-head or flat-head screwdriver (not provided).
Power/Ground: The +12V Power and Ground terminals will accept spade connectors up to 1/2" wide. It is recommended that you use an 8 AWG power wire to the battery, with an in-line 50A fuse installed no more than 18" from the battery terminal. An 8 AWG ground wire (minimum) should be used, and attached to a metal area close to the amplifier.
Remote Turn-On: The Remote screw terminal will accept a spade connector up to 3/8" wide. Typically, an 18 AWG turn-on lead is included in an amplifier wiring kit.
Speaker-Level Input: The amp includes a Speaker Level Input harness for connecting the amp to a factory radio or aftermarket head unit without preamp outputs. You should splice left and right speaker wires from the head unit to the harness and plug the harness into the amp.
Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with one pair of RCA inputs for connecting stereo RCA patch cables from the head unit to the amp. If you have only one input, a "Y"-adapter will be needed to connect the left and right RCA inputs.
Speaker Outputs: The amp features screw terminals for connecting two speakers. The terminals are wired in parallel internally. The amplifier's minimum speaker impedance is 2 ohms. The terminals will accept a spade connector up to 3/8" wide.
