About the JBL MS-62C
When you're putting together a car stereo setup with external amplifiers, remember that component speaker systems designed for high-power handling will give you the best sound. JBL introduces their MS Series component speakers — designed specifically to perform their best when you're pouring on the power.
Highs and lows
JBL's MS-62C component speaker system sports a 6-3/4" woofer housed in a rugged cast aluminum basket that's specially vented to shed heat and run cool. The cone's fiberglass laminate construction ensures that it'll hold its shape when the music is kicking and the volume is high, so you'll enjoy tight, clean bass and accurate midrange output without missing a beat.
Titanium sets the bar for crisp high-frequency response, and you can rely on the MS-62C's 1" titanium tweeter to cut through road and wind noise. The inverted dome tweeter design offers strong output and excellent dispersion — ideal for sharp stereo imaging.
Adjustable crossovers for fine-tuned sound
This speaker set comes with a pair of high-quality external crossover networks, featuring superior components that create a smooth transition between the woofer and tweeter. Tailor the sound to your car and taste with three levels of tweeter output and phase control.
Note: JBL describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Product Research
Woofers
Woofer Cones: The woofer cones are a lightweight yet rigid fiberglass laminate, minimizing distortion due to cone flex and improving the bass response. The rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Woofer Baskets: The woofers' cast-aluminum baskets are vented to dissipate heat, allowing them to play louder without the distortion caused by power compression. A woofer phase plug further reduces heat buildup by allowing air to move freely within the motor assembly for greater voice-coil cooling.
Terminals: The wire terminals on the woofers are spring posts; they will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge.
Tweeters
Inverted-Dome Tweeters: The inverted-dome titanium tweeters are stiff, light, and extremely efficient.
Mounting: The tweeters can be flush mounted or surface mounted using the included housings. The surface mount housings are angled and offer two mounting options, approximately 9° and approximately 40°.
Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:
Flush Mount | 9° Surface Mount | 40° Surface Mount | |

Crossovers
External Crossover: The MS-62C system features external 2-way passive crossovers using wire-wound resistors and polypropylene caps.
Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The tweeter level can be set to 0 dB (flat), -3 dB, or -6 dB.
Tweeter Phase: The tweeter phase can also be easily reversed using jumpers in the crossovers.
Crossover Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate spade connectors up to 0.3" wide.
Crossover Dimensions:
- Width: 3.08"
- Height: 1.15"
- Depth: 5.11"
